    i feel like this is a prime example of someone trying to do a deal with a family friend and that family friend signed the title and left their house to instantly go file for a lost title so he could keep their money and his truck if that's what happened hopefully he gets what's coming to him.

      Hopefully the guy will but in the mean time, it doesn't mean that people have to be terrible and make matters worse which is what I see in this video. Dustin is just doing what his boss tells him but sometimes, you gotta be a bigger person then the situation at hand and know when you are wrong. This is why people hate tow truck drivers. They pretend to care but in reality, its all about their job which they always have a choice in how they deal with it.

    If she actually has a signed title from the previous owner then that means the previous owner filed for a duplicate/lost title and that's what the tow company has. If that's the case then someone's in deep shit.
    I can't understand why any company would want to get involved with a private matter like this.

    Wow, this video brings back some terrible memories of when I co-signed a vehicle for a family member. I was a young teenager so I didn't know any better. My family member stopped paying on the vehicle and I got a call from the loan company so I paid off the remaining balance and had the Title sent to me in my name only. Called up a tow company and showed that I had the title in my name and we went and picked up the vehicle. It was scary and messy. My family was mad at me for a while but we reconciled. The one thing that lesson taught me is to NEVER, I mean NEVER co-sign for anything else. I won't even co-sign anything for my own child. My child knows not to even ask me.

      @@gergnotsloh I said YOUNG because a teenager of any age is very young compared to full grown adults that have been around for half a century. • @gergnotsloh
      @gergnotsloh 7 місяців тому +1

      The word teenager would have worked. Saying "young" teenager implies you were a young teenager, hence why it was confusing.
      Everyone older than a teenager understands a teenager is young.
      Also, following the storyline would have cleared nothing up about it. The other person commented specifically because they were a bit thrown off how a 13 year old could co-sign on something. That's why they made the comment.@@Sparkle-ButterFly

    I'm on the lady's side. If she has title then the trucks paid in full. She just has to fill out the info on title and go to BMV to get it submitted. She needs to get a lawyer and sue the seller. If the seller handed her the title then he was paid in full. She just needs to go to BMV with title to get her name transferred. It's an open shut case if she decides to take the seller to court.

    • @Towtruck_Dustin
      @Towtruck_Dustin  9 місяців тому +2

      We had a copy of the title, which means she didn’t have it. Not only that, it wasn’t registered to her, so legally it wasn’t hers. As I said above, just because it’s in your possession doesn’t mean you own it.

      @mebe2k 8 місяців тому +9

      @Towtruck_Dustin if the title she had was signed by the previous owner, meaning he released all interest in it, then it belongs to her..doesn't matter if he is the current registered owner or not.. He signed a legal document stating he is releasing all interest in that vehicle BEFORE applying for a lost title..if she has a title signed by him then the title was never lost!..The previous owner is a scammer.

    • @1983jblack

      @mebe2k That's the current owner's fault and now the truck is gone. She never showed anything so it's her word against what the repo operator has on file. You always make sure you have a completed and notarized title, fill out an application for a certificate of title to a vehicle (In Ohio at least), and pay with a check (Can always cancel payment if a scam is caught soon enough)

      @@perez-gaara There does not have to be a sales contract for there to be a reposition. I've had to run repositions exactly like this. All you have to have is the original title and paperwork. Proving you own the vehicle and be willing to pay the toe company to go get it. Generally, you wanna inform the police and dot your eyes and cross your teeth? But then you can just go get it. A few years back, there was a scam similar to this where somebody would sell a car and they would turn around and have the car repaid because they sold the car with a replacement title but kept the original. By the time it got into the courts, the person who pulled the scam was already out of the state. What I'm saying is if these people were honest and were given the really needed to register it back in their name. Or this brother could have taken it any time he felt like it. Yes, by not having the title officially transferred by the state, the PO was still the "official owner" as a matter of law. And so the original owner could contract out on a repo like this to recover it, and the towing company is in the clear (legally speaking, but the company definitely has ethical issues with willingly taking part in a scam). This is one reason why it's important to transfer title ASAP....... as the PO can simply file lost title and get a new one then do something like this if they wanted. that was a family court matter you should have never got into. because if they prove they paid in full you just stole there vehicle. which you can be charged and sued for !!! that's when it comes to family shit I walk away from that and have the cops deal with it !!!

    About 30 years ago i was (briefly) a one ton wrecker operator. As far as securing a steering wheel, I was taught to do a simple hitch with a rope, pinch it in the front of the door jamb and do a simple knot to keep it from going slack. Seems a lot simpler than messing with a ratchet strap.

    • @Towtruck_Dustin
      @Towtruck_Dustin  8 місяців тому +8

      I actually keep a rope like this in my truck, but I wasn’t in my truck.

    • @bobbylibertini
      @bobbylibertini 8 місяців тому +1

      I used to pick up junk cars when I had my wrecker. I'd just use an old fan belt looped through the steering wheel and closed in door jam. I like Dustin's use of the ratchet strap better though.....

    • @MrWolfSnack
      @MrWolfSnack 6 місяців тому +1

      Having one of those old "The Clubs" and jamming it in a spot where it wont move will hold the steering wheel straight as ever.

      I just used to carry an old fan belt...loop it through the steering wheel and through itself; pull out the slack and secure it in the door jamb.

    Once the bank issues the repo order there's nothing the owner can do about it because its a issue with the RO and the bank or the private seller

    Not sure about the law in TX but all they had to do in CA is close and lock the driveway gate and it's inacessible W/O a court order to enter the property. but that dang pallet banging like a shotgun didn't help
