    I've got one of the last ones registered in March 2011 with pan-roof, self closing doors and active headlights - had it 3 1/2 years now and the only thing I don't like is the run-flat tyres, which are hard and insensitive. I've just put non run-flat Michelins on the rear, and when the fronts are due, will replace those with standard Michelins - I plan on keeping it very long-term

      Be very careful with replacing them with normal tyres. It might invalidate your insurance as this car has no spare tyre. Check with your insurer before you do. Or it could end up costing you. But I agree with you 100%

      @@tomasjonas7789 I have got a tyre compressor and tyre-weld in the boot plus breakdown cover. If I have a puncture, I'll get it home or get the tyre replaced. Low tyre pressures are monitored, so I should get a warning. Run-flats are expensive and dreadful. I reckon Michelins are as good as it gets.

    Absolutely spot on review. Bought a 2007 E63 6 months ago with 124000 on the clock with FSH. It's still as tight as a drum with both fantastic performance and economy. As someone else has posted, the run flat tyres make the ride a bit un-GT but I intend to replace them with standards and get a 360 bhp remap too. Can't wait!

    Good informative vid.. I have the same car as in your video (colour scheme and convertible) strangely I spoke with the very garage you review from about a swap to an XKR last week.... I've never driven an xkr but primarily want the noise of the V8. Like you say the 635d isn't very soulful in the noise department... It does however sound much better under load than any 4 cyl diesel. If the performance is on par with the XKR then I might just be keeping my bm....

    • @HSGAutomotive
      @HSGAutomotive  3 роки тому

      Marc smith It’s nowhere near the XKR (I’ve also reviewed the 4.2 and 5.0 XKR’s) but it’s about even with the base model XK with 300 bhp

    • @marcsmith4302
      @marcsmith4302 3 роки тому

      @@HSGAutomotive Thanks for the comparison... So my car has had a bluefin map and as per your video comments it really transforms the car, but from your experience of the Jags as an upgrade would you recommend an XFR or an XKR (5.0l)? how differently is the driving experience of the two? Do they both feel as special or does one stand out? The 635 is a great drive and very accomplished but for me personaly not that exciting. Mpg isn't as important for me anymore so which would you consider (no kids so 4 seats not important) but the looks of the XFR appear a bit more brutish than the XKR which is pretty enticing.... Thoughts? 🤔

    • @HSGAutomotive
      @HSGAutomotive  3 роки тому

      Marc smith Well if you’ve seen my review of the XFR I absolutely adored it, so my heart is with that. Plus 34 mpg on the highway is damn good for what it is. I’m always a sucker for “practical and fast”, so I’d definitely get an XFR of the two, but to be honest, of the two XKR variants I’ve driven, 4.2 and 5.0 of the X150 generation (2007/2014) I actually prefer the 4.2 model by a significant margin. The 5.0 is technically faster, but feels more sedate and muted strangely enough. Plus the more classic shifter feels appropriate in the 4.2 over the rise up twist knob in the 5.0, which suits the XFR down to a T. I’d strongly recommend test driving them both before choosing really, as they’re so different, but both excellent.
      I’ve reviewed all of the ones mentioned here too if you want to check them out in a more in-depth way. In the Beards n Cars playlist in the description 👍

      @@HSGAutomotive Im going for a 635d next despite looking at the 650 and reading this you are possibly thinking why?. Well go to a decent respected tuner with a 635d then have the swirl flaps removed, fuel pump upgraded and engine remapped and you will have a 6 series with 360BHP and 700NM of torque. Not enough well you also have a car that does 0-60 in 5.3 seconds, 50MPG on a long run and the performance as a 4.8 650 without the issues and costs of fuel/ maintenance. As for the lack of sound just remove the mufflers and you then have a beautiful rumble. Its a no brainer really if you forget it has a D in the name...
