He made a video of that actually (How To Sing Like Freddie Mercury) in which he explains that whereas there are certain techniques to make it sound more similar (and besides that obviously he's an excessively trained singer) it's basically a question of being born with this certain type of voice. Which of course still doesn't answer the question how is this possible, I'm still baffled by the phenomenon.
@@aevelizee Marc also said that he hasn't had any formal training, so his "training" is just what he's learned by doing for many years, and building up those vocal muscles through practice and good vocal health habits (sleep, hydration, warm ups). The similarities in tone however are still a mystery!

Truth be told, Freddie's live voice didn't live up to his recorded voice. He was excellent live in the early 70s but wear and tear took its toll. Listen to Queen Live Killers and you'll know what I mean. Have you seen the Queen Extravaganza or the UQC, I've seen both: 2012 and now. Marc Martel has an amazing Freddie like voice, first time since Freddie died that anyone has come close. Not just here and there but just about throughout every song. Don't take it personally man. I'm just telling it like it is. When and where did you see them???
Because May and Taylor, damn, go for money (Lambert comes from X factor or sg else, so he has lot of people who follow him..anyway he s good singer and showman and funny but Martel plays piano..) and they show this again with this movie not good in my opinion.
