I saw Cypress Hill at Woodstock 94. They brought out a 6 foot joint and had a blower hooked up to it to blow everyone in the first 100 rows a good shot gun.
Imagine house party's in the 90's : Run DMC, Beastie Boys, Public Enemy, House Of Pain, Cypress Hill, Snoop, Dre...Shit was so fcking lit & vibe was insane, everybody jumpin around.rappin' along & having a good azz time...
One of my favorite concerts I went to was in 93 where I saw Cypress Hill play with Nirvana and The Breeders at an MTV new years bash. Good times. I love Dr. Greenthumb by Cypress Hill, would love seeing you react to it🤩
That dude on the tables is the Legendary DJ Muggs. He’s been in everything. Produced this track, Jump Around from House of Pain, Check Yo Self from Ice Cube. …and if you haven’t heard Soul Assassins yet, it’s an album worth checking out.
Dude im so stoked you chose this. These guy like the Beasties are unique and trail blazers. Its not "rap" but it is. B Real had the most unique voice too! Super excited for this reaction! Hits from The Bong Hand on the Pump Rap/Rock Superstar(2 different version in 2 different styles. Maybe a Double header reaction video)
The first time i heard this song was also my first introduction to car stereo systems 😂 I was maybe 8 or 9 (2004ish) these ppl my family knew had a minivan with concert speakers in the back and as soon as i hopped in (not knowing wats bout to happen) they pressed play and shit took my breath away 😂😂 Been a Cypress Hill fan and a bass fan since that day
Anthem !! Was lucky enough to meet and get high with these guys after a gig in UK with These Funkdoobiest and Lords of the Underground ....Soundtrack to some killer times in my life
Back in the day CH had the best swagger and hooks of anybody in the game, those dudes were the get-the-party-started band you put on as the night starts and it never failed to get everyone happy.
"Like Louie Armstrong played the trumpet I'll hit that bong and break you off something Soon, I got to get my props Cops, come and try to snatch my crops"
Classic! No Boof 51/50. Cypress has damn near done more for weed culture than anyone. How I Could Just Kill A Man, Pigs, Hand on The Pump , Superstar, Boom Biddy Bye Bye, I Wanna Get High, When The Shit Go's Down, Phunky Feel One, Latin Lingo, Dr Green Thumbs, All Hits! check out the podcast they do every day: The Dr Green Thumbs Show.
Fire reaction Stax 💯 I got some Cypress Hill suggestions for you, How I could just Kill a Man, We ain’t going out like that, Throw your set in the air.
Bars on Bars on Bars, album after album they bought it. The #1 weed rap group, Snoop was close but these boys brought the weed culture and the hard messages time after time. So many hours spent listening to these albums. Tequila Sunrise is a BANGER with a cool story... Eat the worm Motherfu**a. Doctor Greenthumb is another fun on but you can pretty much play any album start to finish and be happy with pretty much every track. Bring it.
I'm happy that they were on tour with Eminem and other rappers many years ago. It was in tje Amsterdam Arena and they blew them all away. One of the best performances I ever saw
Lemme tell you something that most people really don't believe about me. In the 1990s when this song came out I listened to it over and over until I knew all the words and I would shock the sh*t out of people when I would sing along and keep it up with the tempo :) Can't do it anymore but Ive always had this song in rotation
Boy, do I remember when this came out. It was inescapable, which is just fine, because it's still just as much fun now as it was 30 years ago. (New sub-I found you in a #WonderMommaOG video.) Great reaction, young man! I look forward to more.
A true banger! Never got high, didn't need to, just jam this groove and everything's chill, thanks to the lads of Cypress Hill. (See what I did there? Lol!)
I saw them in had to be 98 or 99,atl open for limp bizkit atvthe tabernacle. Waited in downtown all night for the free tix. Was a free show. Off the chain
Saw'em at the Edge in Orlando with house of pain back in mid 90s. Looked back at the club as we were heading to the car after and it looked like a mushroom cloud over the Edge like a bomb had gone off. Lol
This was all up my alley at the time--SoCal multicultural gang vibe with a major emphasis on weed. Their first album came out right when I started going to Humboldt State and it was like a soundtrack. They came up just to sample the weed and did a show on campus that was like 17 minutes long, they were so beyond blazed. We all were. Glad you like 'em, they're a quality group and were pretty ahead of their time when they came out.
I would love you to go way back to 1987 and watch one of the very first masters of rap Eric B & Rakim - I Ain't No Joke. Rakim's writing and delivery influenced so many future rappers. Oh and if you do watch it, put on the cc to see how good the lines are.
I’m really curious if you’d like some of the hiphop artists who are more on the poet side. Like Saul Williams’ tracks “penny for a thought” , “Tao of now”, or "1987" the late 90s and early 2000s had a lot of experimental groups
Now that you've reacted to House of Pain and Cypress Hill, you have to check into Funkdoobiest, the third group in the Soul Assassins crew. "Bow Wow Wow" and "Freak Mode" are to great options.
In the same way that one cannot claim to be a lover of literature without having read Shakespear or Baudelaire, a lover of painting without having seen the works of Da Vinci or Hopper, a nerd without having read Darwin or Hawking, one cannot claim to be a lover of Hip Hop without having heard Cypress Hill, Beastie Boys, A Tribe Called Quest, The Wee Papa Girls etc... it's a matter of 'general culture' inside the culture.
the amzing fact bout cypress.....they dont even use they real voice whn rapping.......and the production of dj muggs is indeed insane in the brain........try checkin out when the ship{sh*t} goes down by cypress......u will be amazed bruu
Since you started on the beastie Boys this reaction video to Cypress Hill was inevitable. Great reaction. Will Heavy metal be part of your musical journey? I hope so, Black Sabbath "War Pigs" would be my suggestion to start. An Anti-war song from 1970 and still my #1 tune of all time for multiple decades. Black Sabbath are considered the Godfathers of Metal, so a good place to start. If you listen I will watch, and if you like it, I will drop a list of great suggestions. Ah go on...
@@StaxReacts Sweet, I will look forward to it. Looking forward to Brass monkey which is up next next on your beastie schedule I believe. here is a link to a good version of war pigs with lyrics. ua-cam.com/video/uJ6QHfZwTSw/v-deo.htmlsi=pSi6N_z_HNfPJZnA
Youre reacting to the best rap groups of all time. Throw in some Run DMc and Public Enemy and that’ll cover my top 5. Run dmc, beasties, de la, cypress hill, PE. Sucker mc’s and it’s like that by run dmc is the beginning of it all. Gotta do Rock Box too.
The 90’s was the best music period. Across all genres.
Yesssss
Keep going Stax. Your reviews give this 53 year old hip hop head, nostalgic goosebumps.
That’s love, thank you 🙏🏽

it may not be "rap", but its defiantly hip-hop
@jmalb42 there are certain bands/rap groups that I don't classify as "rap". This band is one of them. Definitely hip hop but also funk, rock and jazzy
Hits from a bong!!! So good
The first time i heard this song was also my first introduction to car stereo systems 😂
