Hi, the Triban 100 and Riverside 500 are 2 very different bikes ! The triban 100 is a road bike so you'll be faster in general! For the rest the Riverside 500 is way better in terms of confort and you'll have more gears . It has disc brakes and front surpension which is way better if you want to go offroad . I like the triban 100 better because of the sporty position but the Riverside 500 is better in terms of components and confort.
@@TrailsonWheels thank you for the prompt reply! I understand that Riverside 500 is a hybrid and Triban 100 is a road bike. I kinda wanted a do it all bike and heard some reviews about the Triban 100 where it was more prone to punctures as well as difficult to ride uphill. But it has better Shimano gears. Since they are around the same price range, will have to think about it.
@@chinmaybadhe3098 Well it's true it's hard to climb with the Triban 100. In terms of punctures, it's exactly the same as these bikes as the same tyres (not the same width but same model)
Are you talking about tires or wheels? I'm not sure for the tires but I'm afraid 38 and 40 are to big... I just order 34 and I think I'm on the limit. The thing is the road breakdo not allow bigger tires
Hi !! If you are looking for a real road bike for real sport session and you are looking for efficiency , Yes! You need to have those brake levers defenetly cause I have to admit it is anoying and slow to switch with the thumb shifter! But again, this bike is more for small tour, for fun or just to be used as a commuter: then thumb shifter is ok !
alberto muñoz the brakes they put in the first place are not really good.... i hope they are well installed at least but you can change the brake pad afterwards for better one and it should then work properly. Hope you ll find the perfect set up for you 😉
tapu florin when I used it in trails with rocks, the chain indeed droped sometimes, I think a good hack could resolve the problem... yet in small trails and on roads there are no problems at all.
Yes, for commuting, every day riding and training. I do mountain biking mostly but I'm looking for a way to get some more riding done when I have no time to get to the trails and this looks pretty amazing for the price tag.
The price is definitely important. If it's a do-it-all bike I want one that isn't going to break the bank when I need to replace parts or if it gets stolen.

How is it quality to maintain is it long term bike its chain brakes good?? Please help me out.... I am planning to buy btwin rockrider 540.. or triban 100..fr bth use mountain n road
Hi ! If you want to have fun on trails and practice with a real mountain bike you should buy the 540 cause the triban 100 is to ligth to be used as a mountain bike and on the long term it will break... Moreover the 540 as better components that will be usefull on rough terrain . Maybe you should start with the 540 and then buy an extra pair of wheels with road tires on it and just swich accoarding to your mood ;) have a good ride
Well I don't know how rough you have in mind but it can defenetly go off road but the example in this video would be the limit for the bike! Especially for going up hills
@@sethusomu8063 it s strange, well I understand why they could have said that I worked in a Decathlon store for 2 years and i always said you could go off road with this one but it is hard sometimes to make people understand that as it stay a gravel bike you can t use it the same way an mtb, it s not made for big rocks and most of the time people don t get the difference so some salesman would rather say don t go off road to avoid abuses
Even I use it a little bit too much the wrong way ( jumps and fast on the rocks) it was for the video and although i was impressed how this bike resist I could not use it this way every day without killing it !😂

Hi ! I would say it depend the category you classify this bike ! But as a "road bike" it is really upright ( you can reverse the stem to be even more upright) Yeat it is more agressive than a normal mountain bike or city bike.
Hi again ! No problem ! I'm 180 centimeters which is probably 5,9 feet (accoarding to google) In this video I'm riding a Large size. Accoarding to me you can take a medium size up to 177(5,8 feet). , If you r between 2 sizes there is no right or wrong choice it's your feeling on the bike. Me, I like having an upright position so I took the large size; you can then change the stem to adapt your position.
@@aaronruiz7381 yes you can change the group set but to be honest it is quite expensive as you need to change litteraly everything even the shifter ! I think you should enjoy this bike for what it is as you start the discipline and than change it for a better one in one or two years 🤘

It's a really fine bike for what it cost ( I think every body agree on that)
It depends on your level but I found quite hard to climb with this one, It's heavy for a road bike ( 11,300 Kg) If you have a long trip to do or if you add weight on this bike you'll see it's hard to climb especially offroad. Anyway you can climb but on short distance
I am seriously considering the flat bar version of this. I am looking for a light weight bike that will go on some gravel paths with my kids but I can use on roads to keep fit also. Would this be a good choice? Thanks
Gavin Morris it will be perfect for this ! I don t know what light means for you but yeap this bike is lighter than a mountain bike but a little bit heavier than a real road bike ( with a carbon fork) that what s make the triban 100 confortable though. I think it is a good choice for you as i am sure you can carry the triban 100 with only 1 hand which gives you the possibility to catch your kids with the second one 😉

Gavin Morris I just checked the second one and I think it's best of the two, the components are better, you have more speeds and disck brakes, I don't know the brand so I can't tell you about the quality of it nor the customer's services efficiency compared to decathlon (whish is good) Anyway, despite the fact that the second one is a little bit heavier and that you may change the tyres ( to be able to go offroad a bit) it has better component especially the drivetrain.
Well this model doesn't exist in XL ( it exist in flat bar now ) but this one comes in L max. For 1.83m L is good ! I'm 1.80 and it is far from being short !
I picked up one in XL a week ago in a local decathlon store in the UK and love it! I’m 2.0m tall and had to obviously raise the seat still but I think a XL will work for you (best way to know is to try in store!)
DHTCF so right about the QR for the backwheel as it is sooo much better and does not cost more! But I like to have only one chainring and put one more chain ring would make this bike more expensive.
Trails on Wheels what about the ratios? I might like a single ring more if there was a bigger sprocket. And the shifter I don’t like at all. Re the QR, am not much of a mechanic, is that a modification one can make?
@@DHTCF i understand your point but the bike was built for short trip or as a commuter and to discover the sport so the ratio is ok for that . Well yeah the shifter is anoying right ahah^^ . Yeah it is !!! I was pessimistic too about the wheels and the tires but it worked well for me ! Check that you have an adapted pressure in your tires ( I almost used the lowest pressure recommended that day which is 50 psi). Hope you have more luck next time ;)
Puctures are just about tires, as i know it has quite good b'twin tires and i think that b'twin makes rather heavier more durable tires with more rubber so i think it should be quite pucture resistant. I see it has B’Twin Sport 700x32C (590 g) so these tires are really havy for 32 mm width, it must be strong with a lot of rubber. You must have had a bad luck and hit something sharp or just had too low pressure and rim puctured it.
This is the best btwin Triban 100 review ever.
Really nice.

If it s going to be your only bike , the one you are going to ride every day (or almost) well i recommand you to choose the Marin because the btwin is more a second bike or a bike for small rides because the components are cheap... the frame is ok for the price but you will have less issues with the marin and i think in the end the b twin could cost more than the Marin bikes. Anyway i ll make a second edit with the triban 100 i think in january ! Hope you ll like it ! Cheers mate
@@TrailsonWheels yeah, looks like I will opt for the Marin too... Plus it has a steel frame and for durability and strength, nothing comes close to Steel. Look forward to seeing the new video!! Cheers!
Wow I didn't know this bike could do soo much definitely buying one !
Is it good bike for up hill ride ???
If not then what are the changes that I can make to upgrade it so it goes up hill smoother .
Hi! Yes this bike can handle a bit of off road! Unfortunately I think it's not a really good climber... And there is not much you can do without spending lot's of money... If you have an old bicycle already you could change the chain ring so it can be easier to go up hill. I may make a video soon about small changes that can be made on the triban 100 to improve its efficiency!
@@TrailsonWheels hello..thank you for your reply
This would be my first bike triban 100..
And I washed to know what all upgrades can be done to improve uphill ride..
Like adding new gare set or front derailleur as well...like what would help ?
I hope u come with that video soon
Really looking forward to it
@@abhishekmehta1054 hi, the thing is triban 100 has not been made for lots of improvements without spending lot's of money! So what are you looking for as a first bike? You can maybe take a road bike a little bit more expensive and add some hybrid tires to go a bit off road! It will climb way better and you'll spend less money I can guarantee! Don't hesitate if I can help you more finding your bike!
@@TrailsonWheels sure I'm open to suggestions....what other road bike can u suggest ??
@@TrailsonWheels thank you soo much for helping me out !
Hello, I would like to ask if the equipment is standard from the Triban 100 and what tires you have on it?
Hi ! Yes, in this video everything is from the original bike. The tires are the trekking one from Decathlon. Dimensions are : 700X32
Have u had not got any puncture??? Or spoke broken??pls answer?
Is it worth buying the Btwin triban 100 road bike?
It is worth the money! If you don't want to spend lots of money on a bike it's a good Idea, or for a commuter bike / roak biker biginner!
Great! Do you have changed some components, like pedals or saddle?
Hi! In the video I have change nothing except the pedals , i chose to set up clip-in pedals in order to be more efficient, have more stability , grip.... Since this video came out I have also change the saddle ( the original one was too big for me) . I have new break blocks ( the previous one were really poor quality). And that s it ! I like the way it is. I may change the chainset in the future
Impressive. Which tires mounts your triban 100? Did you mantain all original equipment or did you change some parts?
Hi ! I kept all the original equipment, I changed the pedals for clips one . I really like the tires that come with the bike : )
Can you please compare this with the riverside 500? My usage would be mostly city, but wouldn't want to be restricted to go off roading too
Hi, the Triban 100 and Riverside 500 are 2 very different bikes !
What are the biggest wheels i can put in this bike? do you know? is it possible to put a 700x38? or even a 40?
Are you talking about tires or wheels? I'm not sure for the tires but I'm afraid 38 and 40 are to big... I just order 34 and I think I'm on the limit. The thing is the road breakdo not allow bigger tires
@@TrailsonWheels yea i mean tires... Thanks!
Is the thumb shifter annoying? Is it worth paying a little bit more to have the shifters at the brake levers do you think?
Btw, what size bike do you ride and how tall are you?
It's a large one and i'm 1,80 meters high
Very Nice vídeo
Hey I Just bought this bike and the brakes arent working well at all. Can you help me with that? Nice editing btw
alberto muñoz the brakes they put in the first place are not really good.... i hope they are well installed at least but you can change the brake pad afterwards for better one and it should then work properly. Hope you ll find the perfect set up for you 😉
@@TrailsonWheels hello what's the top speed?
Does the chain drops often? Did you had any problems?
tapu florin when I used it in trails with rocks, the chain indeed droped sometimes, I think a good hack could resolve the problem... yet in small trails and on roads there are no problems at all.
Thank you!
I so need to get myself one of these.
Spaci Tron as your everyday bike ?
Yes, for commuting, every day riding and training. I do mountain biking mostly but I'm looking for a way to get some more riding done when I have no time to get to the trails and this looks pretty amazing for the price tag.
Yes, defenetly, if indeed you have a low budget it will be perfect : )
The price is definitely important. If it's a do-it-all bike I want one that isn't going to break the bank when I need to replace parts or if it gets stolen.
Top video, are you just using a go pro chest mount to film the majority? Also what helmet are you wearing in this? Cheers
Yes I'm using a go pro chest mount , I like that view ! But for more stability I add a go pro gimbal with it. My Helmet is an ENDURA Hummvee . Cheers
Brother how's this bike
I really wish to buy this model
Hi, it's a good bike for commuting mainly. Most of the people who bought it would say it worth the price!
@@TrailsonWheels okay thanks

Any idea about the weight of the bike?
I think it is around 11,5 kg
cool! but the bike is original or modified?
The bike is not modified, I just change the pedals for clips one !
Bro can u please tell me hows btwin rockrider Mtb 540 know. And trbn 100is? Is it good bike for mountain as wel as city ride ? How is it quality to maintain is it long term bike its chain brakes good?? Please help me out.... I am planning to buy btwin rockrider 540.. or triban 100..fr bth use mountain n road
Hi ! If you want to have fun on trails and practice with a real mountain bike you should buy the 540 cause the triban 100 is to ligth to be used as a mountain bike and on the long term it will break... Moreover the 540 as better components that will be usefull on rough terrain . Maybe you should start with the 540 and then buy an extra pair of wheels with road tires on it and just swich accoarding to your mood ;) have a good ride
hi is the rim brake original stock? and what size is your gravel tire and brand thanks!
Hi it's the Triban 100 from decathlon, it's a large size ! Yes it's original :)
@@TrailsonWheels thanks for the reply. What size of gravel tire did you used? Is it 700x32c or 700x35c?
@@ramoncarlos34 It is 700X32C but this bike can go up to 35C.
@@TrailsonWheels many thank! This is a big help for my triban rc100 upgrade
So is good for rough terrain too?
Well I don't know how rough you have in mind but it can defenetly go off road but the example in this video would be the limit for the bike! Especially for going up hills
Hello! What tires are you using on it?
hi ! I'm using the original one, the hybrides tyres SPORT 700 X 32
how does the bike climb on hills?
Not great ! Design for flat region mainly. But in the end it will depend on you and your strengh ;)
It can be used for off roading also?
As you saw on the video yeap it can!
Trails on Wheels thank you! But in the store they told strictly no to off roading that’s why I asked👍
Even I use it a little bit too much the wrong way ( jumps and fast on the rocks) it was for the video and although i was impressed how this bike resist I could not use it this way every day without killing it !😂
Trails on Wheels thank you 😊 so much sir 🙏 it was very usefull☺️
my lovely cheap bike
Don't know the post riding effect on the bike or long term use but rider is good.
Thank you !!! The bike had no damage after this ride not even a puncture ! But Yes ! In long term that kind of use would kill him (Anyway I would rather take my mountain bike for this trail now) I use the triban 100 for soft use now :)
Hi.. Im wondering.. Can i make its tyres to 35mm? Or whats the max mm i can install?
Yes you can put 35 mm tyres but it would defenetly be rhe max !
Thank you.. Bought new one.. Im new to cycling.. Hows the bike now? Hmm.. Can i change the groupset? Really wanna put speed on it..
@@aaronruiz7381 yes you can change the group set but to be honest it is quite expensive as you need to change litteraly everything even the shifter ! I think you should enjoy this bike for what it is as you start the discipline and than change it for a better one in one or two years 🤘
These tire tubes are really bad,I got 2 flats in a week even though i rode it on asphalt mostly, but I changed them and I think I'm good now.
Btwin tubes are shit . Experienced that
Interesting how to you use it like a downhill bike.. :DD
Indeed I am more a mountain biker sooo I can't pretend i'm gonna use that kind of bike as a road bike ! It was a little bit too much for him but hey , it's still alive :p
@@TrailsonWheels Crazy :), but that's how you can really test your bike, btw... Would you recommend it for buy?
@@danielfodor6551 Depends on what you want to do with it ! perfect as a commuter, I personnaly use it every day to go to my office ( 10km 50%offroad ) but for long distances and if you have to climb a lot, triban 100 may not be a good option. It's a really fine bike for what it cost ( I think every body agree on that)
@@TrailsonWheels Thanks for the reply. I'll think about buying.
is it any good for climbing?
It depends on your level but I found quite hard to climb with this one, It's heavy for a road bike ( 11,300 Kg) If you have a long trip to do or if you add weight on this bike you'll see it's hard to climb especially offroad. Anyway you can climb but on short distance
You can save a kilo by changing to road tyres = 10.3 kg, comparable to most entry level bikes at much higher price. The bottom gear isn't too bad.
@@TrailsonWheels Are the gears on it enough to climb up a 10% gradient hill?
0:36 what's the other bike is it MTB
Yes it is. It's the Rockrider 520. My friend was using it to film
i fucking love my triban 100
Trails on Wheels thanks for the reply. At the moment I'm torn between the Triban 100 and this www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductMobileDisplay?storeId=10001&langId=-1&catalogId=10151&categoryId=165534&productId=1378074 do you think one is better than the other?
Gavin Morris I just checked the second one and I think it's best of the two, the components are better, you have more speeds and disck brakes, I don't know the brand so I can't tell you about the quality of it nor the customer's services efficiency compared to decathlon (whish is good) Anyway, despite the fact that the second one is a little bit heavier and that you may change the tyres ( to be able to go offroad a bit) it has better component especially the drivetrain.
Trails on Wheels thank you so much for your time and help.
congratulations you are very fast! if you buy a full suspension .. nobody catch you!!
Weight of bike???
It's about 12 kg for the L size
hi, should i get L or XL ? I'm 1.83 m tall.
Well this model doesn't exist in XL ( it exist in flat bar now ) but this one comes in L max. For 1.83m L is good ! I'm 1.80 and it is far from being short !
thanks :D i will buy it soon, nice video btw
Is it ok for riding hills ?
I picked up one in XL a week ago in a local decathlon store in the UK and love it! I’m 2.0m tall and had to obviously raise the seat still but I think a XL will work for you (best way to know is to try in store!)
i ordered the L one..you are 2m tall which is a lot more than 1.83 and it matters in terms of bike size, thx for you answer :D
I have this bike. Would be sooo much better with a QR on the back wheel, and a double chainring.
For the rear weell there is nothing you can do exept changing your weelset because the frame accept QR for sure. You can find second hand pair for few amount of money but be carefull to take a cassette with it. I guess they did not use QR to prevent from steal...
what is your average speed on normal road? :D
Ahah I don't practise road bike really so I can't tell you , I'm more a mountain bike kind of man! But I was surprise how fast this little beast can go !

Size this bike in the video?
Sergio Nutini it s a L size
Hi, I am in between sizes and think I may need a Large, do you mind saying how tall you are please?
JJ McCay i am 1,80 meters tall which is 5,9 feet i think
dont know..really is this possible with triban 100?? on my second trip i`ve got a puncture :D
Yeah it is !!! I was pessimistic too about the wheels and the tires but it worked well for me ! Check that you have an adapted pressure in your tires ( I almost used the lowest pressure recommended that day which is 50 psi). Hope you have more luck next time ;)
ok will try your advice :)
The rims are that strong!? :o
Apparently they are! 4 years later still OK! I'm lightweight though!
