That definitely was hard to see Brain like that. I was so used to seeing him as weasel and comedic character. But Brain & Gorilla were definitely One of Best Duos done...
Saturday Night’s Main Event was essential back in the day but Prime Time Wrestling was a great vinyl record that you had to savor its high points and filler moments . I recorded the 2 hour episodes on VHS as a kid. Lenny Poffo vs Iron Mike Sharpe was just as important as the main event but Gorilla vs The Brain was banter that I feel comedians took as an influence. On Cinema at the Cinema comes to mind. :)
@discourius26 you're right it sucked seeing him like that..But he was always a professional. Rip to the greatest manager. And him and Gorilla we're the best 1-2 commentator's.
When Bobby got emotional while talking about his last time with Gorilla Monsoon, I felt emotional. :( It reminds me of when Bobby Heenan said during his Hall of Fame speech,"I wish Monsoon was here". :( Thank you forever, Bobby. :(
If Bobby wouldn't caught that cancer, it would have been epic. I mean Bobby was still alive when cancel culture got started but he was too ill by then. I would have loved to hear what's his opinion for the states of wrestling today, Tony Khan, and society itself. I got a feeling Bobby would have spoke negative about how AEW is book, Tony Khan, and the society itself. He probably would say a joke or two. God I missed that man.
One of the consistent things I've heard in every Heenan interview was his love of Monsoon. They were the best of friends and it's always nice to hear Bobby talk about him.
I grew up hating Bobby "The Brain" Heenan, but I tuned in every Sunday morning to watch him. Childhood naivety is a beautiful thing. Knowing now that he played a character and watching his biography, he seems to have been such an amazing man. I hope he is resting peacefully.
yep. i remember as a kid in the early 80s, when i thought wrestling was really, really, really real, i DESPISED heenan. literally wanted to kill him for all the times he screwed over HULK & the other faces. but, when i got older & learned what wrestling really was.....i'd see him on primetime wrestling doin' all that stuff with monsoon it made me realize that he was a comedic genius & instantly started lovin' the wease.
The Brain was the perfect name for Bobby. Never has there been a man who understood the business better than he did. He was as good as it ever was. And since wrestling is a joke now, he goes down as the greatest in history. Second place might as well be last. RIP and thank you Mr. Heenan.....
I remember what he said the day gorilla passed away when he had to do a show for WCW. He had to really fight back the tears and then his hall of fame speech where he's fighting the cancer. But the last thing you said there's only one thing missing I Wish gorilla was here and he had tears in his eyes
1980's was a total blast and wrestling was a big part of it. Sad seeing so many of my childhood heroes (for lack of better word) passing away in recent years
I've watched this full interview a few times over the year and its still one of the best shoot interviews of all time and Bobby didn't deserve what happened to him but God knew he'd be able to take it. ♥
@@rajnirvan3336 Jesse had to carry Vince through the commentary. All Vince had was, "Oooh my!" and "What a maneuver!" Gorilla and Brain were the absolute best combo. Gorilla and Jesse were second best.
Bobby and Gorilla were sensational together. Bobby "The Brain" Heenan was truly the best during the interviews, skits, and wrestling programs. Gorilla was great as the straight man because he wanted to laugh but didn't. They both are in wrestling heaven laughing and cutting up. R.I.P. Gorilla and the Brain.
GA 1 of the best commentary team ever ,and great chemistry together. Gorilla Monsoon & Bobby the Brain Heenan ,both legends/Icon . R.l.P 🙏. Thank you for the memories.
Gosh, honestly I sincerely hope when i pass away i hope someone remembers me in that light " he was a nice man , that was completely honest, if he had a problem, it was your problem "
Heenan and Monsoon's commentary on Wrestling Challenge during those squash matches still entertain me to this day. Heenan says some of the most outlandish things on there and I love it!
Listening to that was phenomenal. Thank you so much. Bobby The Brain could be pretty vicious and rough with his comments about the business and some wrestlers. But he definitely had a very soft spot for Gorilla.
I used to love Jack Reynolds and Jesse The Body hosting Tuesday Night Titans way back in the day. However there was NEVER a team like Monsoon and Heenan!! There never will be again!
I worked with Gorilla for a year at WWF on the Coliseum Video releases. The guy was the most genuine person you’ll ever meet. Funny, caring, always asked how you were doing, made fun of you, himself, just a great all around individual. I’ll never forget him.
Wow! Bobby’s love for Monsoon was beyond a bromance….. It was Devine… Pure heavenly friendship…. The kind where they would both give their life for the other if necessary….😢Powerful!
others may agree ..... when the brain speaks about monsoon you cannot help but cry ... his hall of fame speech ending on monsoon brought me to the floor crying...that emotion has never left... both were an influence when growing up ... sorely missed ..
I used to look forward to Prime Time Wrestling with Gorilla and the Brain every Monday night, the way they would work off each other was better than better than 85% of the matches they would show.
In my 30+ years of being a fan there wasn’t a better duo with a connection and on commentary than Monsoon and The Brain. You could sit and listen to them for days and not get bored. When Bobby got to pay respect on WCW Nitro to Gorilla passing away that’s what you call respect especially with how emotional he became. These guys were Two of the greatest of all time gone but never forgotten.
See, when most people watch these sort of Shoot interviews, all they want is the dirt and the drama and who hated who, etc. I love stuff like this, the friendship between Gorilla and Brain is something beautiful that you don't see often in wrestling. They were two of the best in the business, in and out of character.
Hands down the two best commentators, personalitys. Funniest and wittiest guys ever. You can tell that he meant the world to him in this interview, gets emotional during it
Loved watching their antics. Those 2 together were magical . Miss them both. Years later, watching these old interviews, you learn how smart The Brain actually was in the business..
I used to love watching Bobby and Gorilla on PRIMETIME WRESTLING. The chemistry was unmatched and irreplaceable. I'll never forget the moments these 2 legends gave on Monday nights from 9 till 11. R.I.P. to both of these great HALL OF FAMERS.

Bobby saying goodbye to Gorilla on WCW was one of the most heartbreaking things
Yeah...hard to watch... it also sickening me what Ultimate Warrior said about Bobby Heenan getting cancer. Sickest quote of all time.
He was tearing up a bit when he said goodbye
Yes it was, man what a duo.
That definitely was hard to see Brain like that. I was so used to seeing him as weasel and comedic character. But Brain & Gorilla were definitely One of Best Duos done...
Top 2 commentators after Gordon solie....r.i.p.to them all
Prime Time Wrestling was so underrated. The sketches and bantering were so funny. Far more interesting than the monotone speeches of today.
Gorilla and Bobby were the best part by far. Nobody wanted to see Hillbilly Jim vs SD Jones or whatever matches they had on.
How was it underrated? It was on for years

I often re-watch 1989 prime time and skip most of the matches. What a great duo
@@MichaelEarl binge watching it for 2 weeks
This interview so strong you can tell his love for Monsoon
Their double act was phenomenal as well.
Go rilla
After 1000 years of seeing Bobby one way, it is so wonderful to see this man this way.
He played a great villian..But seeing what goes on behind the door's..The brain was one of the best ever.
It was sad seeing him in the end when the cancer got bad. He would still show up at the events when he could and meet with the fans.

So ironic and soooo agree.
When Gorilla passed, it was heart wrenching watching Bobby say a quick few words on Nitro that day. He was devastated.
I heard that they didn’t want him to do it. So he threatened to walk out
Such a class act. He truly loved Monsoon. Seeing him choke up talking about him could bring a grown man to tears.
When Bobby got emotional while talking about his last time with Gorilla Monsoon, I felt emotional. :(
It reminds me of when Bobby Heenan said during his Hall of Fame speech,"I wish Monsoon was here". :(

😢I'm crying right now damn!!! How much we miss these times
Yup. He saved it for last after giving a killer thank you speech. He simply says: "and there's only ONE thing missing! I wish ..... Monsoon was here."

I was too young to watch them live but watching them on UA-cam. Fantastic stuff
You know who was sitting at "Gorilla" when Bobby passed through the curtain of heaven!

I'm in my 60s & remember seeing him in AWA in Chicago,I must have been one of the few who liked him the whole way.
