Not only was Bobby absolute gold on a microphone, he was not afraid to take the bumps in the ring. omg, as a Minnesota boy I know how hated (but loved) Heenan and Bockwinkle were.
Sorry for the double comment but the Pillman story is hilarious. Heenan admitted that he didnt know it was Pillman behind him as he didnt see him roll out of the ring. So when Pillman grabbed him Bobby thought a fan had hopped the guardrail. He said had he knew it was Brian, he wouldn't have reacted like that. Brian then apologized profusely saying he didnt know Heenan had a bad neck otherwise he wouldn't have horse collared him. It was a perfect storm of 2 heels laughing it off afterwards. Only a handful of people truly epitomized and molded the sport of professional wrestling. I'm talking about the few we could never have done without. That the business could not have done without. Bobby Heenan is at the very top of that small group. Words cannot explain his greatness. Mr. Heenan, you quite literally changed lives for the better. May heaven treat you as well, as you treated us. Rest in Peace.....
There was nobody like The Brain. No one even close. My favorite manager & color commentator of all time. Even a bad or boring match was still entertaining if The Brain was on commentary. 🖤
My favorites moments of Heenan were the insults he was shooting at Stu Hart. He hated him with a passion and it was pure gold. And that comes from a Canadian.
I grew up on Wcw in 97, Heenan was a BIG part of the reason I loved Nitro, brilliant mind for the business, and always hilarious. He will live in infamy as one of the greatest in the business.
Much respect to Jim. Bobby Heenan was an original. I grew up watching him feud with Dick The Bruiser. As I learned more about the wrestling business, I began to appreciate him that much more. Cornette is special as well. He had me in stitches with that tennis racket.
...this is the 1st pro wrestling death i actually feel emotional about, nostalgia mixed w/current reality, happy yet sad. he's shootin with Andre, Gorilla, Nick, & Ray now.
Chris Nancy and Daniel hit me hardest. I was the biggest mark for Benoit. I was always a heel mark anyway but he was fire in ring. When i heard what he did it nearly broke my heart.
when I first saw Bobby he was wrestling for Verne and went by Beautiful Bobby Heenan ... I also remember seeing the TV program where he became the manager for Nick Bockwinkel and Ray Stevens who didn't even need a mouthpiece but it still worked brilliantly (although I didn't think so at the time because I was still a kid) They had this arrogant California Cool thing going that was just annoying to the Midwesterners which made them such great Heels ..... Say what you want about Gagne (and most is probably true) but him putting those 3 together was sheer genius It's funny how the Heels of your childhood, like Bobby, Nick and Ray become the Faces of your late life ......
Man when i use to hear him on wcw as a kid and now watching clips of him and gorilla. Just like at his hof speech when he said "say something or they'll throw dirt over you". Rip Mr. Heenan
Yes, it was none other than Bruiser who gave him his nickname. Getting such a perfect heel nickname from such a huge wrestling legend couldn't have been more fitting.
I remember when in the mid to late 90s we had JR and The King on one show and Bobby, Tony and Mike Tenay on the other. Some of the best commentary going head to head. I was so disappointed when Bobby left and got replaced by Madden and others. The man was a legend, great at everything he did. R.I.P. Bobby, you will be missed.
There was only one Bobby. The heel gold standard: Wrestler. Manager. Announcer. Watch the footage. Bobby worked the crowd like it was his toy. And that's how he won ... People legit wanted to kill Bobby. Old ladies loading bricks in their purses....chased out of town... I enjoyed his book when he tells the story about wrestling a bear...for like 10 bucks and the bear sold it. The Brain is the GOAT❤
Bobby Heenan not being able to speak seems like God's cruel joke on wrestling fans. It's a shame that so many generations of fans will be robbed of witnessing his brilliance, outside of watching WWE network.
Hey Jimbo... It was my great pleasure to watch Mr Heenan in the AWA aka VERNS venue... from the later 1960 ts thru the 70ts ... l did attend the old St. Paul auditorium for some wrestling shows ... And Bobby didnt miss a beat... No kidding = We always got our money's worth with him... l remember chasing him half way around the the building one night = we were yelling calling him all kinds of names = I was about 10 or 11 yrs old at the time... l had the time of my life... And back then the older crowds really thought it was real.. they were = truly upset and into it... I feel that MR. Heenan was the best at his stick in the game that I ever seen... And l was treated to some of the best entertainment in the wrestling business... IF bobby was one of your favorite = l can see why you done extremely well in your long Career... Thanks Jim.
As a wrestling fan, The Brain has always been my favorite manager. If and when I get into the wrestling business, Bobby Heenan is one of the three people I study as far as the ability to talk. The other two are Jake Roberts and Raven (Scott Levy).
"What have I been saying all these years!? You humanoids...Can you see all the little Hulksters with the tears ( running down their face)! What happens now, what happens to WCW?" I'm only paraphrasing part of Heenan's call when Hogan turned heel and pro wrestling changed forever. In the '80's and '90's I was a young Humanoid who happily watched "The Brain's" great commentary.
He also said, 'It's Hogan! I always told you he was evil!', also paraphrased. Kinda gabe it up a little I have heard although I can't imagine anyone seeing a mustache-less Hogan walk to the ring and not realize he was the third man. lol
A Bobby Heenan weekly podcast would have been my first, second and third choice to listen to stories about my childhood interest. The man I loved to hate, turned into one of my fondest memories of my youth. RIP Bobby, you are missed.

So long brother..... a true legend
Another in my mind that belongs on a Mt Rushmore of pro wrestling. In my opinion there'd be more than 4 faces, but no doubt one of those faces either way is Bobby the brain. Seeing the clips of him in the later years I can't watch, breaks my heart.
Bobby the brain was natural comedian and commentator. Even when he was the bad guy I loved him. I can't think of another commentator that ever made me laugh as hard as the Brain.
Damn Jimmy....you just described all of my early childhood wrestling memories. I grew up in suburban Detroit and we watched wrestling from Indianapolis on channel 9 from windsor ontario Canada...as well as Big Time Wrestling from Detroit on channel 50
Franklin Wilson Those were the GREAT old days! And because of shortsightedness, almost all of those tapes were destroyed or recycled. Forever lost: feuds like Tony Marino/Killer Brooks, Sheik/Valentine; the greatest heel turn in history: Ben Justice; the merciless tag team of Kurt Von Hess and Karl Von Shotz
When Cornette says you’re his model as a manager, that is high praise indeed.

Heenan, best manager ever. The man who quoted the phrases, "A body just don't bend that way", "Ham & Eggers", "Humanoids".
That Raw when Monsoon tossed him out was a great angle.
Heenan,if he hadnt got into wrestling, would undoubtedly been in entertainment/showbusiness in some capacity-truly a comedy genius
Jim is really fighting back tears!! Bobby Heenan was so good as a villain, I hated him as a kid.
No he isn't
I can hear it. He really broke down during Lance Russell's tribute.
He wasn’t as close to Bobby but the admiration is obvious. With Lance, Jim really gets broken up. You can tell he really loved Lance.
There was nobody like The Brain. No one even close. My favorite manager & color commentator of all time. Even a bad or boring match was still entertaining if The Brain was on commentary. 🖤
It was either Jim or Bobby back in the 80s. Jimmy Hart was pretty damn entertaining himself😂😂😂
Bobby the Weasel Heenan had to also work with, Mr. Fuji., Miss Elizabeth, Classy Freddie Blassie, and, of course, the mouth of the South, Jimmy Hart.
My favorites moments of Heenan were the insults he was shooting at Stu Hart. He hated him with a passion and it was pure gold. And that comes from a Canadian.
Many Have Said that Bobby Would Have Been an Awesome Stand Up Comic or TV/Movie Comedy Star
one legend to another.RIP BOBBY.
God Bless you Bobby The Brain Heenan, all I can say is thank you...
I grew up on Wcw in 97, Heenan was a BIG part of the reason I loved Nitro, brilliant mind for the business, and always hilarious. He will live in infamy as one of the greatest in the business.
Bobby was so great. Fantastic heel manager.
Owen Hart hit me worse
Chris Nancy and Daniel hit me hardest. I was the biggest mark for Benoit. I was always a heel mark anyway but he was fire in ring. When i heard what he did it nearly broke my heart.
Eddie Guerrero was mine.
when I first saw Bobby he was wrestling for Verne and went by Beautiful Bobby Heenan ... Say what you want about Gagne (and most is probably true) but him putting those 3 together was sheer genius
It's funny how the Heels of your childhood, like Bobby, Nick and Ray become the Faces of your late life ......
Man when i use to hear him on wcw as a kid and now watching clips of him and gorilla. Just like at his hof speech when he said "say something or they'll throw dirt over you". Rip Mr. Heenan
I remember when Bobby was the arch nemisis of Dick The Bruiser and Crusher. I believe Bruiser or Crusher game him the Weasel nickname. RIP BOBBY
Yes, it was none other than Bruiser who gave him his nickname.
Getting such a perfect heel nickname from such a huge wrestling legend couldn't have been more fitting.
I remember the Crusher singing Pop Goes the Weasel during a promo.
@@edgein3299 Perfect
Damn, but I miss Bruiser and Crusher working together.
The heel gold standard:
Wrestler. Manager.
Thank u corny you're correct - there is no debate ;) #1 all-time💪🏆hope ur in no more pain. Thank u Bobby so much for all the years of entertainment!
Heenan was a great ENTERTAINER. He could generate heat or he could make you laugh.
my two favorites Bobby Herman and Ric Flair
Who's Bobby Herman?
The Brain Podcast!
That would definitely work!
Kinda gabe it up a little I have heard although I can't imagine anyone seeing a mustache-less Hogan walk to the ring and not realize he was the third man. lol
Derek Fuiten , thank you!
A Bobby Heenan weekly podcast would have been my first, second and third choice to listen to stories about my childhood interest. The man I loved to hate, turned into one of my fondest memories of my youth. RIP Bobby, you are missed.
Ham and egg’r lol the best
"Theres a metal bar in that brick" lmao
Rest In Peace Bobby Heenan. After my late dad, the funniest person ever
One of the best heel managers of all time RIP BOBBY HEENAN
look... Hennan was the best there is, best there was, n best there ever will be. Plain n simple.
Grew up with Bobby n Gorilla on USA network in the mid to late 80's......
Bobby taught me how to be funny.
He taught me how to perform
I wouldn't be myself today without Bobby Heenan.
What an amazing time.
Go n be with your best friend Gorilla Monsoon Bobby.
So long brother..... a true legend
Bobby henan could be sports commentator on any sport in the planet ...thats how I highly I rate Bobby the brain Heenan
Another in my mind that belongs on a Mt Rushmore of pro wrestling. In my opinion there'd be more than 4 faces, but no doubt one of those faces either way is Bobby the brain. Seeing the clips of him in the later years I can't watch, breaks my heart.
Heenan, Gorilla and Lord Alfred Hayes were great to listen to. Heenan was so fun to listen to
Bobby the brain was natural comedian and commentator. Even when he was the bad guy I loved him. I can't think of another commentator that ever made me laugh as hard as the Brain.
Jimmy Hart comes pretty close.
RIP Bobby u will b missed.
He was a great overall talent
