      I met him there too! Yeah he was in a bad way, but he seemed to still be enjoying being around the boys, people coming up to him saying hi and stuff. I'm glad I got to meet him at least once. He's my all-time favorite wrestling personality. Just unmatched wit. He could have just as easily been on SNL back when SNL was still good.

    Bobby or Jesse doing commentary were my two favorite WWF characters. I liked them better than any wrestler or manager (maybe Piper in WWF in the 80s could hang with them). They were the most entertaining part of the show - including the big events. Genius to have full time heel commentators. Either one working with Monsoon was fantastic.

    The Chris Kanyon comment = TRUTH. I worked AXXESS at Mania 19 in Seattle and Kanyon was recovering from a (well-documented) staph infection in his elbow. I asked him how his elbow was doing and all I got was a death glare from him. Brian Kendrick, same day, was literally talking to everyone - marks, kids, didnt matter...the diff was night and day.

    Wow such a great approach the brain had! This is why he seems to have mostly positive things to say about eveyone. Gorilla was his best friend, otherwise his family was not imvolved with the business. These we're his coworkers. He did his job and went home. The problem in most work places is people are to into the job and the people's lives they work with. Including dating each other. Whicn is now what we see with most Mens and Woman's wrestling are all dating

    • @thetragicfigure
      @thetragicfigure 5 місяців тому +1

      I hear ya on most of what you're saying. But I kind of understand the dating co-workers thing, because some of these wrestlers are on the road 300+ days a year. Unless you can afford to have your wife/husband/boyfriend/girlfriend traveling with you constantly --- and they're up for it --- that's gotta be a huge strain on your relationship. And if they AREN'T traveling with you, how soon until either one of you starts looking for "attention" elsewhere.
      Unless you're in an "open" relationship with your partner who doesn't travel with you, then I can really understand why a better option might be to date someone who travels with you more often than not. Sure, it can be messy if it doesn't work out since you'll still be seeing each other at work all of the time, but if you go into it with both of you acknowledging that possibility, perhaps you'll be more likely to deal with it in a mature manner should a breakup happen.
      Luckily for Heenan, he was working during the territory days when he got married and had a kid, so he worked only a few days a week, and traveled much less and pretty much "locally" in the Minnesota AWA territory compared to WWF's increasingly nationwide kind of touring. He was already in his 40s and had a family when he joined WWF, and I'd imagine that someone already so settled into a domestic family life would be far less likely to cheat, unless they were a total scumbag --- which Heenan clearly wasn't in real life, especially if an all-around stand-up guy like Gorilla Monsoon was best friends with him.

      @@thetragicfigure Also good points as far as a significant other goes. It can be good to see them and be with them, also bad maybe when you are seeing them to much lol. But of course it's a different than those of us with a regular job. But overall I think his approach of leaving work at work is a good thing

    Surprised to hear about Kanyon, I've always liked his in ring work, but that of course doesn't mean he was a rocket surgeon (see what I did there) outside the ring. Sid doesn't surprise me, I've seen both his shoot interviews and his promos and and he's as dumb as a bag of rocks. Very impressive looking, seriously over at certain points, but would have greatly benefited from a mute gimmick. Just like Goldberg, he was much more impressive, when all you could hear him say was: "aaagrrrh".
    Damn shame about Bobby, sometimes I play wcw matches in my earphones while I work, just for his commentary and I laugh..he was the best.
