This deck feels both fun and fair. Also more evidence for the theory that Konami likes banning stuff that is a budget option, since Sharvara was a common in the TCG.
Unchained was tier zero for a couple of weeks and stayed the best deck until the fire nation attacked. It made sense at the time for a small hit.

I’m coming back after a couple weeks off just got a lil YuGiOh’d out but I’m excited to try unchained! Just opened a bunch of packs trying to freshen up the game for me a bit.. crystal beasts almost did it for me but I’m just lagging until the new lightsworn support comes out. They announced it way too early it’s all I can think about 😂😅
I really don’t think Maxx C is the unstoppable killer of this deck. It’s not good into Maxx C by any means, but being able to set up a disruption and follow-up for two draws means you’re not auto-losing every game to it - especially if you’ve hard-drawn a trap / handtrap / talents.
Back when Swordsoul was meta, Chixao + Blackout was the poster-child endboard for decks that weren’t completely dogshit into the cockroach. That board has been powercrept by the backup plans of decks like VS, Tear etc, but I still don’t think it’s bad enough to completely write the deck off.
The problem Is passing to maxxc and getting full comboed next turn by Snake Eye
@@zakariaelhimer1325 yeah ofc, but almost any deck that doesn’t actively ignore maxx c (lab, floo etc) has that same issue.
Branded getting sanctifer for a draw / mirrorjade for 2 is objectively much better than the Unchained Maxx C line, but if you make that board vs an opponent who has opened Snake Eye Ash + an extender, it’s often the same result either way. Even Snake Eye itself is losing 90% of mirrors when the opponent opens roach + combo.
Again, it’s not a competent backup plan by any means. But considering that the odds of Maxx C being drawn + successfully resolved against you are less than 1 in 5, and that most other meta decks also end on a backup board of 1-3 disruptions, I think the number of games that would be winnable with another combo-adjacent deck (but that Unchained loses due to its Maxx c issue) is fairly negligible all things considered.
True, honestly summoning Aruha and just setting an Escape technically constitutes 2 pops, one of them non-targeting
I’ve been playing the tour guide version of the deck and been loving it. It’s a deck where Maxx C feels like an insta lose if you can stop it but that’s just master duel.
Dont care that this deck plays hard into maxx c.
This deck slaps and Im so glad I got to play it in the TCG.
Sharvara to AT LEAST 2 please.
Even having it at 2 would be fine, I've been trying to play unchained again in TCG just since I'm really bored of fire matchups, and the biggest trouble is just that you can't easily tutor out a 2nd Sharvara as half of Caesar, or keep one in hand to play around Nib
Hopefully Sharvara gets at least semi-limited on the next tcg list 😊
Why would it?? In a format where Maxx C is legal the power level of this deck drops drastically

Regarding his last point (wish we had more time to play it in TCG), did Sharvara to 1 really absolutely kill the deck? Or did people say the hit to 1 and simply declared the deck dead?
It limited makes the deck really bad, because you want to be able to use it to dodge targeted negation while in the hand, as a starter if you only open it and a unchained trap, and to send (with fiendish rhino) to set the trap, so less than 2 in a deck makes it way too weak to compete.
It's really annoying to do the turn 1 combo with only 1 Sharvara, as it increases your reliance on Soul of Disaster to revive it near the end of the combo to make Caesar. It also makes it MUCH harder to play around Nibiru, since you can't just hold a Sharvara in hand to pop something in chain to the Nib to proc your Yama in grave and keep extending
This deck is really fun but it bricks often
is there a particular reason why only 1 imperm other than to have it as a crossout target? seems like a really good handtrap that doesn't play into talents
