Sitting next to you as you your opponent activated D.D. Dynamite for game was the best moment of my weekend lmao
How can one person get more based
Next regional pure SKY STRIKER
blind second paleo frog striker incoming 😮
Add runick to it 😈
I mean, this is just a glorified stall deck, you deal more psychological damage to your opponent than damage to his LP 😂😂.
that's the power of "not playing a runick deck"
bro taking edison deck for next tcg tourney
blackwings very strong right now
Turbo Dragons
“Draw 3 every turn is just fountain🤡” omg 😂
6-1-2 while only winning one coin flip is really impressive
Coin flip
I don't play current Format, but seeing Paleo in 2024 is just 😮
Witch's Strike was huge brained.
Next paleo support, paleo field spell searches a paleo trap, also opponent cannot respond to paleo effect activations, can activate 1 paleo trap same turn it’s set
"Dont forget the link 1 that search the floodgate !" Hardleg
nah the field spell lets you normal summon the paleos lmao
@@My_Heart_is_on_Mars true, never thought about it like that. Also it lets you dump a Paleo from deck to protect your field from destruction, like lost world. And if you dump 5 with it’s effect you auto win the duel
Josh is Paleozoicfied
The witch strike thing is criminal, lock this man away
No, it is obscenely mega based, therefore not criminal
the only thing i see that is criminal about witch's strike is they aren't secrets
I loved the cameo at 8:52
Yeah right? I'm so sadge DBG didn't get a shoutout
Just proud he pronounced it correctly :,)
The disbelieve to accepting the fact that he's eating gourmet meal
Bro actually cosplayed as prehistoric player in a tournament. Giga-based
because of you ive been able to play paleo in md again and have been considering trying it irl again. the deck is so fun and unique and i miss playing it since paleo frogs.
A lot of stuff goes under explored in this game. EARTH Machine and Fluffal ar two decks that have very high potential but no top player will give them a try. In a way is good because if the decks remain relatively unknown people don't know how to play against them, but at the same time no progress is made on them. A couple recent exceptions were Unchained and Naturia, Konami made the support cards commons but eventually had to hit them in the banlist because they were legitimate budget options.
What makes you say that about earth machine? Mind expanding?
@@TheOnlyPersona The deck got a big consistency boost with the super heavy samurai engine and overall it has tools to deal with most board states. Urgent Schedule is extremely broken, I'm convinced that if it was searchable EARTH Machine would be a top deck.
As someone who loves Earth machine and played it for ages… the deck has not been viable since pote came out, everything about the decks engine is outdated.
But superheavy samurai and vernusylph go a long way into making you play through hand traps, the problem is you have to go full gas but the way I enjoy the deck now is to play locals with 60 card full gas and it does ok, hand traps do nothing when you draw the good engines.
Also superheavy samurai without vernusylph can fit 12 non engine in 42 with better starters than normal but has some weird anti synergies especially post turn 1. (Tilting entrainment and masurawo are good cards)
Earth machine is the poster child for decks that people swear have potential but it never breaks out. But I commend those who keep trying to find ways to make it work. SHS felt like it might have been good but it wants to do its own thing too much, and I don't think Earth Machine works that great without S/Ts
To top with fluffal you need your opponent to not draw droll or more than 2 interruptions and needs great hands. I play it a lot but deck has lots of problems like not being able to go first that well. It can break ok boards tho and otk if they brick hard. Deck is nice and could get real good with one fusion monster that needs 2 fluffal and/or edge imp card that sends toy vendor from deck to search something so basically plus 2. You also brick hard sometimes for drawing all fluffals and make apo pass or guardian chimera pass at best lol.
The power spells look really good in this version, there's also a version where you send suliek with marella, search tear kash, with the general plan of fusing with tear into mud and overlaying reino and mud for bahamut toad. Once your xyz are in the grave you can also fuse for kalaido, and tear offers kalaido spin, field spell pop, suliek as ways to chew through, and to interupt a board. There is also a lab version that uses traps to recur stovie torbie as a level 2 for xyzing with because paleo xyz only need one trap,as well as getting you big welcome to be an interruption, and if you run lovely, she can reset your traps, and the other one can set you extra trpas from deck. Some considerations for cards you could run, titanocider, lost wind are still decent, 1 vivid tail in lab/tear versions to reset cards for next turn, to dodge interruptions, to proc lab effects, and to recur effects from the grave. The final card you could consider is ret-time reviver emit-ter which allows you to ss a level 2 from grave that books an opponents monster and your paleos are unnafected, and it will still summon, but your paleo doesnt get booked, but theirs does
Will it still SS itself tho?
@@tommasopenati9635 yes! If you look up the ruling, the ss is applied as long as one of the monsters is flipped, there's a ruling with book of moon that works the same way if they book one in response
If Toad wasn't banned in MD I 100% believe people currently playing the TearLab decks on MD would be putting Paleos in so they could make it
I played Paleo Lab in the most recent Duelist Cup! Obviously not optimal but it was soooo fun. So I am definitely one of the people who is familiar with the different Paleo effects ;)
Can you share your decklist? I'm curious.
I’ve been experimenting with it today too let me see your list
Hey Josh! Have you considered the quick-play spell card "Surprise Chain?" Here's the effect for your convenience:
Activate only as Chain Link 2 or higher; apply the following effects, depending on the Chain Link number of this card, in sequence (skip over any that do not apply). You cannot activate this card if multiple cards/effects with the same name are in that Chain.
●2+: Excavate the top cards of your Deck, equal to the Chain Link number of this card, then place them on the top of your Deck in any order.
●3+: Send the top card of your Deck to the GY.
●4+: Draw 1 card.
You can only activate 1 "Surprise Chain" per turn.
Essentially, if you make the chain link really high, you can basically search your deck for 1 card and mill for one card.
I will admit though, it isn't the best tech, considering it isn't a trap, but I wanted to mention it regardless!
someone mentioned it on stream and I looked at it. If it was a Trap Card maybe, as a Spell I dont think its good enough sadly
@@JoshuaSchmidtYGO Thanks for replying. I figured since it wasn't a trap that was probably why, makes sense!
Honestly as a budget option that's not bad or maybe specific match ups it could come up more, maybe against other trap decks since you wouldn't need to worry about triggering your own traps for paleos
This was the problem I found with a lot of cool tech cards people suggested to me back in INOV format, if it isn't a trap it's much harder to justify unless it garentees more traps to hand or field. And back in the old days you even had to turn down cool continuous traps because you needed back room space to build your boards. Now that we have stuff like transaction rollback, it's a problem of the past
Honestly frog spright is kinda underrated. Lets you go avramax dupe lock on opponents turn, stops nib before 5 summons, and you can run paleo and boost the deck to 60 cards for more options. Also lets you run tear cards too for more mills to the grave to potentially hit angler again. Substitoad is just a str8 up busted card too, and is pretty easy to get into hand.
The paradox mentioned at the beginning thats exactly what I've been thinking about Everytime yugitubers make tier lists .
I like your take on decks that go unexplored. I've been taking Umi to regionals, and just continually experimenting with the list to try and make it as competitive as possible. Currently running a small icejade package to splash in water 10 synchros, like aegirine or chungus and some kashtira stuff.
WATER piles are underrated. Sharks, the Marincess ED monsters, Tidal when he comes back, the new Fishborg, are all pretty powerful in their own right also.
What Icejade package are you running? The Egyptian God Slime + Cenote soft lock is pretty nasty.
@@Flame082 Just 3 Ran+ 1 tremora
I played inov paleo pure. This deck single handedly made me fall back in love with the game. Accumulated fortune was my favorite card because of people response to seeing it. Thanks for this profile and having fun with my favorite deck!❤
Quality content. Love to see the potential of decks that have been written off.
Love this 🔥 still reminds me of the time I played my odd eyes deck during peak virtual world tri brigade and drytron. Managed to get some wins solely off no one knowing which monsters were the main threats or which pendulum effects were most relevant.
I played a Paleo/Spright/Exodia deck on MD for a couple seasons, so I know and love paleos. It's super fun, you need to stall using your resources carefully while you draw a ton hoping to find the pieces. It's like a timer on a bomb, if you like the feeling
You gotta bring Salad next. Do it for the culture
I think even just playing for fun he would get at least like 5th place. Salad is rly strong in the right hands.
(yes you can say that about many decks but salad is special my guy)
Salad is the deck that got me back into ygo during the pandemic after dropping it for a few years
Been my pet deck since
Everything about this is pure good yugioh. Knowledge about interactions and resource management in the highest levels (that being said fuck d barrier HAHA)
morganite is quickly growing to be my favorite card! thanks for the list i'll surely try it out looks hella dope
Thank you so much for giving Paleo the love it deserves. I’ve been climbing Ranked with different versions of the deck all week and it’s been such a great time to pilot. Definitely the most fun I’ve had playing Yugioh since Paleos were first released. Glad they’re finally a real deck.
I think this is the channel I needed to get myself back into form. I’ve been trying to stay in the meta, which I never do, to try and climb rank and getting stuck in a mindset and play style that isn’t me. I just need to get back into fun rogue strategies that are fun for me to play instead of this robotic net-decking, meta chasing. Winning for me used to be having fun and pulling off combos, competitive meta chasing is so toxic.
Great video, wanted to say I didn’t know that the video ended cause the Autoplay played a video with the same first 5 words
If you had won 3/9 dice rolls instead of 1 you'd probably have been in the finals. This is the one thing I really hate about yugioh, the reliance on the die roll.
honestly yugioh is 80% luck at the top level and unless someone has an innovative and groundbreaking decklist it comes down to who goes first and draws better.
@@ahkwaheart At the top level? I don't think so. If it was, then we wouldn't see the same people consistently top YCS events (especially in consolidated formats). Of course, it's a card game and luck is a component, but I definitely do not think that it's 80% luck.
@@bagorngoI was just gonna say this. Like 80 percent is a ridiculous percentage.
I love the fact that the chat said multiple times " so when are the floodgates coming" bc they see traps -> floodgates
But its paleo, u dont play any floodgates its basically all interaction ( ofc some list can play it, but the playstyle is way more controle than stun)
I'm just now getting back into the game, and was disappointed to learn Ronintoadin was banned and I can't play my paleo-frogs anymore. But this is making me reconsider, and at least try to make the paleos work if the frogs don't.
I was going to try a Traptrix deck, but now I may instead try them with paleos and see what happens. Thanks for the inspiration!
Ive been trying a similar deck in master duel, its super fun. Sometimes you lose, but geting past turn 3 or 4 and just trying to outgrind the opponent is super satisfying.
Now we just gotta wait for runick paleo
I think you'd need an 80 card deck for that
Thank you for playing Paleozoic. These little guys need some love too Komoney.
Super fun and inspirational seeing you put effort into having fun with a not so strong deck! I have been playing crystal beast for a while and I still don't feel confident enough even to go to an ots with it but after I figure out how to smokescreen I think I'll give it a shot!
This applies more to MD, but reasoning + junk collector is also a nasty combo version of paleo :)
I saw your 60 card paleo deck in my recommendations, but I never paid attention to it till earlier I saw someone use it against me and it looks so much fun
Considering how skilled Josh is with Paleo it never surprises me that he is able to take this deck to events and perform well. Congrats and I am glad you had fun with the deck again
If you let your dice soak in the moon light of a full half moon for 567 hours in a row, they should start rolling better
Seen the same thing happen playing Thunder Dragon Titan, people forget it's one of the few relevant boss monsters left in the game on a When not an If
Another possible idea for this deck - goddess skuld's oracle. I liked it in paleo in the past and it gets better the longer the game goes on. You give them cards you can play around, eventually end up playing with perfect information and in game 2 unless they opened a side deck card then they're never seeing one until you let them. The down side is a second copy is a totally dead card and it takes a few turns to get the value from the first one. It was interesting when I played it though, you could tell who also played mtg and had experience with control decks there based on how fast they realised that they have to get skulds oracle off the board.
I too am enjoying what you cook up because you don't have to try hard for points/YCS'. It's very enjoyable watching someone be creative and enjoy something they're good at.
I do know what most of the Paleos do, as well as accumulated fortune, not because I played when they were a meta threat, but because I've made a paleo-exodia deck which I quite enjoy. :)
I love this deck so much in MD I mixed Paläo Mill with Lab, Tear and Shadoll.
Paleo was my first locals deck
E: i think it was a little while after gouki extra link
People: „Witch‘s Strike is a noob trap! Don’t play it!“
The reigning world champion: „Destroy hand and field go brrr!“
Have you try with Volcanics? Back in the day I was in love with that deck (Paleo-Volcanic) and, as I can see, you can use pretty much the same engine cards to accelerate the volcanic engine. It can be for both scenarios: to burn your opponent with Scattershoot, or to control it.
Based Paleo Volcanic
In Chess Terms he played a Hyper-Modern Opening. Kings Indian Defense.
a competent, fairly cheap, creative, skillful deck without hand traps...
we need more of these!
Imagine you lose with your 1.200 Dollar Snake Eye Deck to Paleo...
...yeah I'm building this in Master Duel. Paleofrogs was my baby. I started playing it before it was really on anyone's radar, even before Toadally Awesome, and kept at it until it getting hit + Links introduction made me take a break. Is the only Deck I own IRL. Only just downloaded Master Duel last Tuesday, so now is as good a time as any.
The most fun game I ever played I was playing 60 card PK Paleo Frog against Towers Gouki. Damn that was fun.
I have been having a lot of fun with eldlich paleo. milling cards with kuribandit and the zombie vampire that you make with the horus engine is really good. also the extra deck is adaptable since eldlich enables rank 5 and 10, horus enables rank 8, and paleos enable the rank 2 pool.
Awesome Paleo deck. I should share it with a friend of mine since he likes to play paleo from time to time too
I've been playing 60 card Paleojamas, using leancholia to abuse Ojama Duo, I run 1 eldlich, 1 ABC, ojamassimulation for rank 4s like Bagooska and Exciton into Zeus. Holeutea plus Lv 2 for opabina turn 1. Arias set ojama duo - end of battle phase duo resolution activate evenly matched. I agree the Paleozoics are slow but the ojamas make the deck fast. I only play 1 spright jet, blue, and double cross for a searchable trap reborn/steal. Phantom knights vambrace is a 1.55 card Anomalocaris that doubles as battle protection or level manipulation. Don't sleep on Numer29 & number2 js
now we only need paleo runick to unlock the ultimate version of josh
This deck made me realize I don’t hate trap decks, just everything floodgates related. I give this a shot in MD
Honestly shocked people don’t know what the paleos do. Even if they weren’t around when it was good, all the main deck paleos are N/R on master duel. Dinomischus is among the best N/R spot removal cards. You’d think people knew what it did
Since you spam "Transaction Rollback" and will probably not deal much dmg to your opponents LP "Hope for Escape" could maybe be better then "Accumulated Fortune" in this deck.
Only problem I could see with Hope for Escape is making sure you can pay the 1000.
Nothing stops you from playing both like a chad
@@mhkamath actually hope for escape is a cost, so in theory as long as you get 1 there you are set for life.
You can copy with Transaction Rollback while reducing own LP???
@@mhkamath If you just copy it with Transaction Rollback you don't have to pay 1000 but just half your LP instead which you can always do
Awesome deck profiles as always!
10:30 protection engine - and based deck - no stun engine
Paleozoic is love and life
On Master Duel I built a 60 card Paleozoic with a small Labrynth engine for Ariane, Stovie torbie, lovely, Big Welcome Labrynth that's been super fun to play
Next tournament we will see Josh take Shaddoll Cartesia Dogmatika to show his love for Shaddoll
Imagine rocking up to a regional, getting paired up against one of the best players in the world in a tier 0 format and sets 5 and passes
We're so back!
I’ve been trying out laundry dragon maid to get mills, since its a level 2 and also a water, its been alright! I also found that sometimes it can be helpful for toad since toad can add back a the laundry, then you can send laundry for stuff like dinomischus. Super cool profile!
Mega based deck, let him cook, king of games, deck profiles like these inspire me and many others and remind us why we love the game. I can’t count how many times my mouth was gaping open mind blown at the level of interaction this deck has
I'd like to see the headline "Joshua wins YCS with War Rock"...
Honestly so cool to see the Paleo Xyz really shine instead of the deck just being a toad factory like back in the day.
Why not playing Threatening Roar instead of Rise to full height? It's still a normal trap and it's copies 4-6 of waboku
Rise of full height is better cause it activates in the gy, so u can dump it with marella or having it randomly milled with needlebug nest
What about The Phantom Knight of lost Vambrace? Its a nice little interruption + triggers a paleo + puts an extra level 2 monster on the board for animalocaris or opabinia.
People not catching the chainblock is really surprising to me. Lady Labrynth operates off of the exact same timing (albeit, only with Normal Traps rather than any non-Counter trap), and I've seen her get chainblocked plenty of times-- would've figured that people would make the connection that they could do the same here.
(Also, playing an whole ass Volcanic package because you need a time card has to be one of the most based deck build choices I've ever seen)
That’s db grinder cameo goes crazy
loved the deck profile, man now even I want to try some paleos
D.D. Dynamite is high key HILARIOUS in Runick.
I took an 8-year break from competitive Yu-Gi-Oh! near the start of Pendulum era because disgusted me at that point. By the time I came back, there were so many new cards that it took me a long time to learn everything. My first few tournaments I would consistently go to time because 1. I play a combo deck that I had to relearn on the fly bc the OCG card I tested with didn't come out until several months later, and 2. I had to read damn near every card my opponents played in order to maintain the gamestate.
I would have to read all the Paleos, aside from Candidna bc she was a staple in Duel Links xD
@Joshua Schmidt maybe you could add Boo-Boo Game to maximise Waboku no battle damage effect and to recycle 2 traps to the field.
Konami give this man new control decks.
He's running Strikers and Paleo in 2024, things are getting desperate
If any deck can actually use the equation system cannon, it's this one
Lmao the DB grinder clip 😂😂
I think crackdown would be good in this deck. It helps you make typhon easier, gets rid of opponents monsters and it’s a trap
Did you ever test out ret-time reviver in this deck instead of ipiria?
This type of content we need to give yugioh competitive a new twists
This is amazing, it makes me incredibly happy to see Paleo in 2024.
I just realized you could use Paleos to go into Epurrely Plump. It's generic... and since you're milling so much in the MD deck, you could technically mill the 1 of delicious memory and make Expurrely Noir.
It's win more but it works, it could also make a 6 mat zeus pretty easily by overlaying Plump into Downerd into Zeus.
"Alot of decks go under explored"
This! Runick spright furhire is so strong right now!
You could also secret barrel as a time card as well 200 for each card in there hand and on there field is good. Plus you could run. Threatening roar as a battle negate
That side deck is so fucking funny
Finally someone else running tune in paleo.
The monster immunity on Paleos can go hard if you know what you're doing. Just the fact that you can play through your own Zeus activation is hilarious.
Ah Paleozoic, one of the only decks that took on my armed dragon Catapult cannon deck at full board. Being inmune to monster effects is a real pain for that deck! Both it and A-Z
Does anyone know where I can watch the feature match (paleo vs voiceless)? I can't find it on YT
Paleozoic sky striker runick for the next regional i guess
All the paly traps, I know em all. Seen things
A lot of people underestimate rogue advantage. Obviously if you're on meta everyone either plays you or learns how to disrupt you. No one can possibly study choke points for every single deck in Yu-Gi-Oh so on rogue decks sometimes they have 5 negates but use them in the wrong places and you can still play through and win.
Accumulated Fortune broke DBGrinder
On the idea of picking up older decks to see hiw they do in a modern format, do you think the new fire support would help a deck like Nepthys? All of their graveyard shenanigans makes them decent in a grind game and things like amblowhale and princess help with even more recursion
manifesting witchcrafter as his next deck
I played Paleos in N/R in Master Duel so I am familiar with quite a few of them. I would need to read the ED monsters for sure and a few of the main deck traps.
