  • Little short this time, but I like it a lot.
I've recently been learning a lot about Jazz and I wanted to put my knowledge into something.
I was pretty conflicted on making it faster or slower, so I literally flipped a coin and landed on the faster one.
    Please enjoy listening!

Its really hard so say whether this is jazz cuz its really weird, but the basic concepts are all there so i suppose it is. neat

a few notes (you dont have to follow these; it isnt a bad thing to have your own style! If you dont care about your music fitting into jazz expectations, feel free to ignore this comment, but if your goal is specifically to make jazz, it would be good to keep these in mind):
      - First, the guitar and piano solos are pretty good! I like the way you used the blues in the piano solo. I have nothing to say about those.
      - putting the snare on count 3 every measure is unusual in jazz, generally you would accent beats 2 and 4 (twice as fast as you have it here.)
      - the kick and snare arent really used the same way in jazz as they are in rock/pop/electronic styles. Generally the beat will be mostly carried by the hihats. Id suggest listening to jazz recordings and focusing on what the drummer does.
      - the guitar thing playing 8th notes is a little strange and distracting. Generally when there is a guitar player and a piano player, one of them will act just like a solo instrument and stay quiet until their time to solo.
      - the intro is pretty long, generally an intro in jazz will just be one or two chords, typically just a V chord or a ii V. After that, the band plays the main melody followed by improvised solos.
      - i noticed you played most the chords on the piano without the fifth, which is great! Id also suggest playing them without the root, because the bass player is already playing the root. Despite what some people will tell you, it isn't a sin to play roots on the piano, but you certainly don't need to.
      - most chords in jazz, with very few exceptions, will be seventh chords, so id suggest changing that G major chord to a G dominant 7. You can also make your chords sound nicer and more colorful by adding extensions like 9ths, 11ths, and 13ths. Also, upper extensions dont need to be above the 3rd and 7th; you can put them below and in between too. 9ths and 11ths sound good on minor chords, 9ths and 13ths sound good on major chords, and you can make almost any note work on dominant 7th chords. (Typically you will use 9ths, #11ths, and 13ths when you are going to a major chord, and b9ths, #9ths, #11ths, and b13ths when going to a minor chord, but always feel free to play around and see what sounds good!)
      - the chord progression you are playing is pretty close to the chord progression to Just The Two Of Us, but you have an E minor 7 instead of an E dominant 7. Id suggest to change it to a dominant 7 and see if you think it sounds better.
      - i noticed that the swing seems very strong. I could be wrong, but it sounds to me like the long beat is 3 16th notes long and the short beat is 1 16th note. This would be called 75% swing, because the long beat takes up 75% of a quarter note. The most swing you will see in jazz is 67%, and it decreases as you get faster. That might be hard to do in FL Studio, so you could try setting the time signature to 6/8 and making the long beat 2 8th notes and the short beat 1 8th note.

A few very nice ideas here, great job :)
You might consider making the bass rhythm separate from the piano, as the rhythm section it's their job to create rhythmic interest. They should generally work to support each other, possibly the bass could have two notes per chord (Alternate between different chord tones if you want to keep it basic).
I liked the chromatic segment near the end with the piano, stuff like that is pretty jazzy!

could you make a tutorial or something analyzing this? I've been trying to develop a jazz-fusion/acid jazz style and mixing them together has been frustrating, but this sounds like a good combination between japanese and english music.
anyways bro, sounds so, so good 👍

Sounds great! A great way to get some jazzy sounds (not the only way,) is to start off with a 2 5 1 type chord progression, and swing the rhythm. I like the melody and solos through out over out though. I think with the first piano melody, it gets a little lost with all of the notes in a similar frequency.
Sorry, just some ideas. I’m very far from knowing what I’m doing

It is jazz, it doesn't need to have super complex chord progression to be jazz, it has chromatic things and a melody that accomplishes with the jazz style
