*본 연주는 아티스트의 연주를 카피한것이 아닌 제가 피아니스트의 연주를 분석하고 편곡한 연주입니다
*This is not a real playing of themselves, I've made arrangements in their style.

you're one of those classically trained jazz pianists that scare the living .... out of me
Astonishing
And you're like all of these legends rolled into one.
Thank you for the inspiration.
I'm just here to take baby steps in my journey to learning and appreciating jazz music.
Well played! Totally oohsome! 🤗👏👏👏👍💕 Beautiful grand piano bass sound on external speakers!
You are amazing!
Here’s a little fun fact: Erroll Garner never learned how to read sheet music. When people asked him why, he replied that people pay him to play music, not to read sheet music
There is a number of top musicians who can't read music but not bothering to learn to read will not make anyone a top musician!
I learned how to read music decades before I didn’t need to anymore : )
Thats really not special ngl
The thing that most intimidated me during music school was my lack of scale fundamentals. I could play them all with my eyes closed, arpeggios and fifths included but for some reason I got jumbled and really depressed in the practice rooms when I had to sit down and actually KNOW what I was doing. Wow. First time I’ve ever tried to describe that almost a decade later. I miss my reference 36 Tenor so much… worst thing I’ve ever done was give that horn up. I’m in the process of getting a new one. 3K away baby!! Haha. So much lost time to make up for.
it's more common these days for people to learn how to play an instrument without sheet music. In my opinion sheet music confuses people because it's a really non-intuitive way of notating music. Why is C so special, for example?
Oscar peterson playing giant steps is the most terrifying thing I've ever thought off
Monk in my book.
@@jesham7627 yeah that's fair.
you crack me up!
Wish I could leave a laugh react because while I don't necessarily agree, I very much understand.
@@jesham7627 Ives
Uncle Larry sent me here and he is correct, what a great player
The Bill Evans version and Eroll Garner’s shows proof that even the craziest bop jazz is actually nothing but a beautiful ballad played at a very high tempo
In fact, Flannagan thought it was a ballad because of the Strange harmonies
@@HillTeen there you go.. there’s no excuse for people who say i just don’t understand jazz lol you would love it if it’s slowed down

Fun fact, sounds ate also just high frequency "percussion". Jacob Collier demonstrated this in a video wherein he accelerated a polyrhythm and it sounded like a chord because each percussive rhythm gets interpreted by the brain as a tone. It's wild.
jimin has hopped on the giant steps train and it's exactly what we needed
Hahahah Can't help it😂
George! Surprised to see you here :)
Damn! Still trying to catch my breath. Excellent!
Oh hey George fancy seeing you here
He knows what's up
The amount of musical knowledge on display here is mind boggling!
I would say that any pianist that can accurately recreate these major pianist’s styles playing Giant Steps is ready for the big time. Very impressive.
I love how she included the great Hazel Scott, well do jimin!!
Me too!!!! That's when I subscribed. This video makes me so happy
What an extraordinary imposter! To perfectly inhabit multiple legendary artists like some Uber tribute artist is uncanny, but then to speculate how they would interpret signature works by other geniuses and deliver a convincing performance... Makes my brain seize up, but in a good way!
sus
Ye thats pretty sus bro
Wait, does anyone else notice how amazing this is? This lovely lady is a true musical savant - she can see through the surface phenomena to the basic patterns underneath, and then she has command of an essentially limitless technique to realize her understanding. "Giant Steps" is a notoriously difficult piece to negotiate in any one style. As a minor aside, I am still waiting for a Tommy Flanagan lesson. But more to the point, J., please put out more videos of you swinging out with improvisations in your own style.
I agree. It takes genius to do what she does.
U r right
She deserves more subs
It's a different level
"improvisations in your own style" - this is actually an interesting point. I am an amateur piano player so I am not sure I should judge anything related to playing. But as a listener, I was so so positively impressed by Jimin - and I enjoyed it a lot - and I learned a lot. So this is great. Own style (and I am writing generally here now, not in relation to Jimin) is a different dimension. It might be related to understanding other styles but I would (and I hope psychologists or learning experts would agree) like to understand "own style"/ creativity as something which is weakly (co-) related to replication (at whatever level the replication is - I think one can make similar arguments in science)
The Bill Evans take was, as to be expected, lovely.
The fact you play all of these means you have to add an extra number to those legendary piano player
I really loved McCoy Tyner, Eroll Garner, and Bill Evans. But honestly I enjoyed listening to all of them.
Erroll Garner hits different!
에롤 가너 진짜 미쳤네요 너무 좋아서 기절 함
Loved the Red Garland one
The Errol Gardner version hit the bottom of my heart...
Hazel Scott & Red Gardner took me to another stratosphere. They should call you the “Pianist Whisperer”. Words really cannot express how brilliant this is. Really!
The Red Garland one is so tasty...
Bill Evans drove me crazy🔥
Why did UA-cam take SO long to suggest this video!
...I'm in love...
Bill Evans voicings is so beautiful.
this is incredible, thanks for sharing it. It would be great to have a full length version of each one :)
Playing Giant Steps stride, jesus christ your note accuracy is insane.
I 💓Erroll Garner💓 and also McCoy Tyner, Bill Evans. Bravo Dorothy from Asia.
Wow. What an incredible demonstration! As someone who teaches a college course on the history of jazz and works as a professional keyboardist, I must say that the depths to which Jimindorothy must have gone to understand these different styles and execute them with such finesse is amazing.
That Red Garland one is a real toe-tapper!
Absolutely nailed mccoy tyner❤
I come back to this video often. Just beautiful. I miss my horn so much. I will get it back one day
damnn that Mccoy imitation is so gooood
Great stuff. The best/closest one is Red Garland’s impersonation
The Red Garland one is unbelievable.
This is phenomenal! I particularly like the Fats Waller and Errol Garner style versions.
You have honoured these players beautifully
Would you do a separate video with the full Bill Evans interpretation, please? It's absolutely spot on and so beautiful.
얼마나 오랜시간 공부하셨는지 놀라울 뿐입니다
Wow! This is a Master's thesis!
This is absolutely wonderful! Almost as if each pianist found the lead sheet on his doormat one sunny morning. You make these legendary players come alive once more. Bravo!
I love these annotations of techniques! they are so helpful to understanding what you are playing. thank you taking on board your viewers' comments and making videos :)
Erroll and Red, easily my two favorites
This simply couldn’t be better
JiminD is a real teeth knocker. it's almost too amazing to believe.
개좋다 진짜 ㅋㅋㅋㅋ
재즈 피아노 어느정도 들어본 사람들은 당연하게 존나게 재밌는 포인트가 부분마다 녹아있음 ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ
As a guitar player, I now want to restart learning piano
Great demonstration of the difference in styles. Was glad to hear Red Garland and Hazel Scott.
The Garner intro is tops-chef’s kiss
Professor Longhair !!
1:32 Hey my-lady, I totally like the idea that you studied Hazel Scott. In all honesty, I don't think anyone else can. I was amazed when I discovered her some years ago, and also a pretty girl in the office is named Hazel lol. And remember Hazel was a born Trinidadian like me. Cheers.
ughhhh i loved that Eroll and Red Garland
This was just an absolutely wonderful six minutes. Normally with these videos, I sort of get the idea after 20 seconds, but gosh, I just wanted this to keep going. Wonderful.
0:55!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :O so much swing!
brilliant! best pianist ever.
Well done Jimin! I really enjoyed these 👏
TRULY BEAUTIFUL
This is epic grandmaster level stuff. As a musician there is so much information to learn packed into every section here it’s insane.

あなたはピアノを通じて亡きピアニストたちの演奏を伝えてくれる特殊能力をお持ちのようです。イタコピアニスト。
ビルが最後に降りてきたのは泣けました。
Enroll garner really was a different level
i need that Erroll's full version!!!
As a Pianist this video is incredible
When I see any of your videos- I just like it even before playing it. Cuz I know it will be good. You are one of my favorite female pianists 😊
It is quite obvious that you have done your homework on the piano masters. Not just a glance, but an in depth analysis of each of their styles. In this video I love your Errol Garner and Bill Evans versions. Great videos!
Nice. I like all, esp. the Erroll Garner one. Thanks!
may i just say this, Barry Harris may be one of jazz musical wonders of the world, did you take some time listen to that piece, oooo my God!
Bad azz, all my favorite piano players.
I love watching your videos , it helps me understand each pianist approach I think you should do a masterclass on the type of things and explaining how you do all of them, i am sure there would over thousands of using that would buy the masterclass , I have bought many masterclass similar to what your doing but they don’t explain enough or sometimes they don’t go enough deep in the explanation
Holy Schniekys! That was quite impressive.
this is just mind blowing !!! step by step trought giants !
Masterful talent to pull this off - requires a deep understanding of disparate historical jazz piano stylings and the technical ability to play them!
Lmao, the chord at 3:23 and the lick after that is SO Oscar Peterson :D
Krásne hranie veľmi talentovanej pianistky, vďaka 🌻💐
Wonderful!!
Wow. And I Love Bill Evans
THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!
You are beyond gifted.
This is so damn impressive... I’m speechless
Amazing job. Hazel Scott’s drama and Bill Evans’ colours stand out for me but they are all really beautiful homages.
Marvelous. Mimicking voices is hard enough. You would have fooled me in a blindfold test.
Timeless music
I was waiting for mccoy pentatonics and 4hs, you really nailed his style
im so glad this is not a meme video, amazing stuff!!
this needs more respect! amazing!
I'm sorry, did you just teach me Fats Waller's style in 40 seconds? This is legendary, thank you so much!
That Garland version is on point 😂
Thought this was gonna be a meme but this just is fantastic content. Really loved the Barry Harris and Mccoy ones. Used to be a massive fan of Errol Garner and Red Garland and your impressions are spot on. Great playing!
A stunning performance. I keep coming back to this video. To master just one of these styles to this standard represents a lifetimes work for mere mortals..The late British actor/ comedian/ pianist Dudley Moore worshiped Errol Garner, & based his style largely on that of the great man. Dudley was no slouch, but when he heard that Errol Garner was in the audience at one of his shows, he ran out of the club into the night, never to return.
Oh WOW!!! You are gifted.
That was stupendous and sooo amazingly incredible to hear and watch. I do not believe that I have ever witnessed someone as gifted as you on the keys. I am thoroughly impressed. Unfortunately, it leaves me wanting more. Please keep playing. You are terrific 👏😀😊❤🙂👌!!!
Jimindorothy , your mastery is impressive ! Mastery of music, piano, jazz ! For you, the sky is the limit ! Congratulations once again, and thank you very much for sharing your great talent ! ❤️ 🎶

It's simple: i see a prodigy -> i subscribe
Dude you are sauced out
McCoy's right hand touch and detachment was perfect. The whole thing - beautiful playing :-)
This is the best video I've seen all day long
영상 기다렸어요 감사합니다~~
2 years later, still very nice!! Health and wisdom to all, Erik the Netherlands
The people who disliked are the people that listen to drill rap
absolutely beautiful!!
Actual magic.
literally god tier material!
Nailed it! So good Jimin🔥
your channel makes me so happy
