Dude.....I've said this before, in your other tutorials, and I'll say it again.........you're a genius!!!!!! Your tutorials are the answer to a lot of composer/producers problems. I have LOTS of samples, and even though the authors say they're completely 100% royalty free blah, blah, blah, there's still that part of me that thinks there's still the possibility of other people using the same samples, and our tracks being very similar. But THIS settles that problem.

Cool, this is why I support you on Patreon! I had a sample beat the other day that was just a little off for my taste. I did the work of lining up the transients and recreating the beat on another track, ugh. This would have been much easier. Once you break it into sequencer pattern you can then just remove the redundant sounds and condense it to a kit. As long as they maintain their original position. Then move the events to taste!

I think fastter way to make those loops into pattern regions would be to just drag then into a Q-sampler like with the one shot. but use the optimized and set the slices to what you want inside Q-sampler and just drag miidi out from the bottom part of the wave form in Q-sampler, then convert to pattern region and make beat how you want it.

I don't usually use loops that are longer than 8 bars so I haven't run into that problem. the Qsampler is faster for chopping up a short loop into 8th notes or 4th notes I've found. Also one thing I like to do is take a polyphonic loop and turn it into a tonal one shot by putting the vocal transformer on it in robotize mode then dragging into Q-sampler. It makes some pretty unique sounds.
It depends on if you like editing the transients in Quick Sampler or not. I'm not a huge fan of editing in Slice mode in quick sampler if there are a lot of transients to edit. I find that tweaking the transient markers in the editor is faster for me. But for shorter samples and loops, definitely Quick Sampler is fantastic for those. The MIDI drag feature is really nice! I never knew about that before!

Inspiring! I was thinking, EZ Drummer comes with 2000+ patterns, which they call grooves, but are really just midi. In fact, there are groove packs from famous drummers. I was wondering if there’s a way to convert these to patterns and save them in Logic? Other than drag a midi pattern into a track, convert to pattern region, then save one-at-a-time. Just thinking about a bulk covert process.

Hey whats up great video but I, stuck on the Drum loop to pattern. When I right click to try to convert to pattern region, the convert option is there but I cant select it. Any ideas or solutions, or something Im obviously doing wrong.

Despite the fact that a LOT of people have complained about issues with Big Sur, I have not had this experience. Big Sur has been out for a year now, and it works great. I didn't lose any of my plugins after updating. The NEWEST one Monterey, I'm not so sure. I know Logic will work with it just fine, but I wouldn't rely on all of your plugins to be compatible with it yet. I would hold off at least a few months before getting Monterey.
I was able to get the first part but it won’t let me convert after the first time I converted it. I can’t get it to look yellow it won’t let me. I did take the loop and put it Q sampler and break up the audio like you did then I right clicked and I can’t convert to get it to the step sequencer
After i convert mine to a MIDI region I don't get the option to convert it to a pattern region. I have tried 5 different loops and I don't understand why I don't get this option. Its just grey'd out and wont let me click it
Sounds like you missed the part in the video where I mention that the length of the midi region will affect whether it can be converted to a pattern region. Try splitting the region in half like I do in the video and it should work.
Try trashing your Logic preferences and doing a restart. I had some troubles at first when I updated as well, and after trashing the preferences everything was good! support.apple.com/en-us/HT200260

What happened to auto punch? Did they hide it or get rid of it. Because if they got rid of it I must write a strongly worded letter to apple.

Your loop is probably too long. Try cutting the midi region in half just like I did in the video.

Loop slicing audio in quick sampler has been available since 10.5, however yet part where I convert midi regions into pattern regions is new to 10.7.
