Not sure if this is widely known, but I accidentally found this out a couple days ago. You can use the midi files in the Logic Loop library the same as when you take audio loops and drag them all the way to the left in the track header to open up the different samplers etc in Logic. So you can use the Quick Sampler, Drum machine Designer, Alchemy and the Sampler and they will automatically convert the midi to audio, and then use it exactly as if you had dragged an audio file to the track header. Maybe I'm a bit behind and everyone knows this already, but just in case there was one who didn't know, now you know. This opens up a lot of creative possibilities.
Always fantastic information on your page. Can I ask you a question, regarding logic's library. How do you move the library to an external hard drive, when the external hard drive is greyed out and not seen. Using Big Sur. Thanks 😎👍
In version 10.4.2 they added the ability to more easily relocate the sound library. I did an update course over at MacProVideo, but you can watch some videos for free including the very first video here, which covers that topic: macprovideo.com/course/apple-logic-pro-x-whats-new-in-logic-1042 If you're drive is greyed out and not seen it might not be formatted correct for MacOS. I'm not 100% sure what formats it supports for external libraries but I'm assuming Mac OS Journaled and APFS will both work, unless Big Sur got rid of the Mac OS Journaled option, which might actually be the problem. Might be a good Logic tutorial for the future! Thanks.
Hi Joshua! At minute 2:22 you explain how to stretch to 8 bars long but when I try this it snaps back and doesn't allow the stretch. Any idea why? Cheers!
Are you doing it with an audio region? It will only work with audio regions or loops, it won't work with MIDI regions, pattern regions, or drummer regions? If that's the case, you can press Control B to bounce the MIDI in place, and then stretch the loop. It might also be that you're letting go of the option key too quickly.
@@MusicTechHelpGuy I was actually working with an Apple Audio Loop and for some reason it doesn't allow stretching. Tried with an Splice loop and worked perfectly! Thanks and keep the amazing content coming!
@@jotamarsmusic AH!!! That's right. Apple Loops don't let you stretch, but if you Control B and bounce the loop in place it will convert to a normal audio region and then you can stretch it.
Hii Dear friend. If you are designing drums, especially hihats will be a problem. Sounds overlap in Hihats. FL Studio has cut itself button for this problem. But i dont know how we can do that with logic pro ?
It depends on what instrument you are using to sample the hi hats. If it's Quick Sampler, and you've got both open and closed hi hats in quick sampler, you can simply make the polyphony of QS monophonic. That will get rid of overlaps. However, if you are using individual samples, I'd recommend using Drum Machine Designer. Within DMD you can create an exclusive group for your HH samples by clicking on the little "cog" icon in the lower right of each sample pad.
@@MusicTechHelpGuy Thank u very much for your answer. But I did not fully explain the problem. Hihatsler is already in a group, but what I want to tell is how to use samples. The dynamics of the hihats are very high and the sounds overlap almost simultaneously. FL Studio program has a cut itself feature, this feature completely solves this problem. Could you please search it on youtube (FL Studio cut itself). It's really hard to explain the subject. pls look : ua-cam.com/video/OWID0IGMRu0/v-deo.html
How could this be used for creating melodic loops? Then construct a song, as in; Intro, chours, verse, outro? Then have each section be triggered by a midi note?
You can slice up just about anything and make it a new idea. Melodic ideas need some extra manual editing in my experience because they don't always have noticeable transients. To trigger each section with a MIDI note, you could put each section in live loops, and then trigger each scene with a MIDI note or other control on your MIDI controller.
@@MusicTechHelpGuy Thank you MusicTechHelpGuy. I am using Reaper and they have similar program to live loops, it is called Super 8 as you can trigger up to 8 loops. I have attempted to slice up an Mp3 song but I am thinking I might have more luck with a midi song, as you say maybe the transients will be more noticeable because I can snap them to the grid, still a lot of work though. I whish I could just buy loops already sequenced and ready to trigger.

You're featured on the official Logic Pro website and I couldn't be happier to see that!

Wonderful, thank you :)
Would this work good slicing a keyboard sample and then having the ability to play with those sounds in this Logic sampler? Or would it sound choppy?
#GameChanger. As a Drum Loop collector, this gives me a new street to drive down. Cheers 🥃

Cool, btw, can you advice any place to get any decent drum samples
My favorite acoustic samples that aren’t over processed are from Drumwerks
