About the dursleys…. Idk about vernon. But fact ist petunia isn’t scared of magic, she is dying of jealousy and obv doesn’t want her sisters son to have, what neither she nor her son can ever have. Fun fact, in book 5 she mentions Snape.
I think you hit the nail on the head with this one. Petunia was so hurt and resentful by Lily’s powers, that she never wanted Dudley to feel the same way. She would naturally not want Harry to go to a school that Dudley cannot and see her son deal with the same anguish as herself. And when Harry does go, it’s in Petunias best interest to make Dudley look down on Harry and his powers so that he remains feeling superior to Harry and can never be jealous. Vernon just hates anything nonconforming to the stereotypical traditional image of a successful man and family and Harry’s status threatens that
I heard a couple years back of the possibility that Petunia actually had a deep caring for Harry as she did for Lily, under all of that jealousy and resentment. That she had coined on or suspected that Harry was just a lamb for the slaughter and wanted to keep him from that fate as the Wizarding World is the reason of her sisters death.
@@r0xdab0x96xo if one of the most powerful wizards in the wizarding world (Snape) wasn’t able to realize Dumbledore’s plan, I highly doubt a muggle who ignores all things magic would be able to
We know for a fact that the Invisibility Cloak doesn't block ALL spells cast at the wearer, because even aside from Dumbledore's spell to immobilize him, Malfoy hit Harry with a Body-Bind Curse while he was wearing the cloak in HBP. I think it's safe to say it wouldn't protect from Avada Kedavra either. I agree that the "protection" aspect of the Cloak is poorly explained. But what I've always interpreted it to mean is, the wearer is immune to any magical attempt to reveal them. So a Summoning Charm for the express purpose of pulling the Cloak off Harry wouldn't work, but if someone already knew where Harry was and cast a curse or hex to immobilize or cause general harm to him, that would still work.
I mean Moody seems to be able to see him under the cloak. But the eye isn't really explained either. And at least in the movies(I think the books too, but can't say that with confidence) Dumbledore can at least say where Harry is, when he's under the cloak in Hagrids hutt. Maybe that's unique for Dumbledore to be able to do. Or he just casted homeo revelio before entering and thus got the insight that there are more people present than visable and had the deductive skills to tell where to look. It's not like revealing him to others present, but Harry is still revealed to the owner of the eye and Dumbledore, however he managed to do that.
To be precise in, not entirely sure but I think its Deathly Hollows, there is a Deatheater who tries to summon Harrys cloak from him and it doesnt work at all. I think it is when they enter Hogsmead
@@MoxxoM we all know that the real, literary reason Moody could see Harry under the cloak is that Rowling hadn't decided to give the cloak infinite concealment power yet when she was writing Goblet of Fire. But my personal headcanon to explain this is, Moody actually couldn't see it was Harry under the cloak. For OTHER cloaks he would have seen through them, but with this one he just saw a big hole in his spatial field in the shape of a person, and Snape had already told him one time in the staff room to "Watch out for Potter's unusually powerful cloak, he has a habit of sneaking around at night," so he correctly guessed it was Harry.
32:30 Fun fact, when Lucius encounters Harry, and he’s about to cast a spell on him and dobby stops him. The spell that Lucius was going to cast was a Avada Kadavra. When you watch it again you’ll hear him start it. Dude was straight going to off Harry Potter right there at the school 🤣
That's only in the movie. His actor was told to start casting a spell and that was the last one he remembered reading in the books. In the book however luscious didn't even draw his wand he just lunged at Harry
In the movie, Issacs was told to cast a spell, but he didn’t know any. He asked another person in the crew and the only one they knew was Avada Kadavra, so he ended up using that one.
53:38 When it comes to the movie adaptation's take on the polyjuice potion, my guess is that the kept the voiced unaffected for the sake of reminding viewers that it's a disguise. In the books they characters can be referred to by their names no matter what they look and sound like, but in the movies there's only visuals, dialog, sound effects and music to work with.
Despite the Dursley's questionable parenting tactics. They really did do a good job saving Dudley from feeling like he missed out from their heavy demonization of magic.
4:35 I'm probably not 100% correct on this but I just realized that Harry likely cast the same "love" spell as his Mother when he willingly let Voldemort kill him in The Deathly Hallows. He was basically also given a choice and chose self sacrifice. Thus applying that love protection to the people he cares about in that final battle.
Yes in the Books he even tells Voldemort about it:"I did what my mother did. Dont you see that none of your spells seem to have any binding force?" (Not word for word but the sense remains the same. In the Book Voldemort uses a Binding curse on Neville and he puts the sorting head on Neville's head, igniting it. But Neville can just break the binding curse to pull away the hat and draw the sword of Griffyndor from the hat.
This also explains why the fetusmolt that is inside him didn't get the same protection- Voldemort is incapable of loving even a sliver of himself once cast out and it didn't choose to sacrifice itself, hence it dies while harry lives. this is a banger take @astrovite
When the Pottermore sorting quiz first appeared, I took it immediately. I was a child back then and was unhappy to have been sorted into Slytherin, 'the evil house', but did not despair. I quickly googled all possible questions and all possible answers to manually find and input the ones that would have gotten me into Gryffindor like I wanted Thinking back to it now, the quiz wasn't wrong the first time 🤣🤣🤣
Also, with regard to whether all prophecies are fulfilled... remember, in the Hall of Prophecy, some prophecies on the shelves were warm and glowing, others were "as dull and dark within as blown lightbulbs". I've always understood this to mean, the glowing prophecies are the ones that were, or still could be, fulfilled, and the not-glowing prophecies are the ones that did not come true.
@ElysiaWhitemoonOmega I think it might be the opposite like the ones that are dark are ones that were either subverted/never came true/ or did come true/ where as the glowing ones are prophecies wither still going on or yet to even start just an opinion tho no real evidence
I take it as the warm and glowing are still to be fullfiled while the dull and dark are fullfiled. As i understand it a Prophecy just can not come true
@@theprinceofawesomeness Dumbledore's line in Half-Blood Prince was what informs my theory: "Do you really think every prophecy in the Hall of Prophecy has been fulfilled?"
I always found it kind of interesting how the sacrifice was out of love with Lily (being a master of charms) sacrificing herself for Harry but it's Harry who seems to get all the credit. But you really can't blame the world for outpouring their appreciation for Harry indirectly and yet at the same time his fame can really be detrimental to him.
I can see your point about the whole Ravenclaw thing, the only thing is though Raven is another word for black and then claw which Eagles have black claws. We're Ravens don't. When it comes to the Hufflepuff Badger I think the reason why my house which is Hufflepuff we have the badger and I'm not 100% certain on this, but Badgers in the actual real world can be quite tamed unless if they are attacked or someone in their group is attacked. At that point they can take down Predators five times their size if I'm not mistaken. As we see in the final book it was mostly Hufflepuff students that stayed behind to help in the final battle. There is a few ravenclaws and a handful of gryffindor's but virtually half the table if I'm not mistaken from Hufflepuff stay to assist and Aid Harry wherever he needed
The books tell about Petunia being supremely jealous of Lily getting her letter.......so much that Petunia writes a letter to Dumbledore begging to be let into Hogwarts!!! I think Petunia harbored that jealousy & it turned to bitterness when she got older. She now "pretends" to despise magical people, but in reality, if she ever got a letter..... she would leave Vernon to go to Hogwarts.
Movie Snape is much nicer than book Snape who lets be real was a collosal wanker. He might not have been really evil but he was no saint. While he was mad at being bullied he also defended his own friends when they bullied with borderline dark magic as just some fun. In anger he called Lilly the worst slur imaginable even though she defended him plus his whole love thing was way more of a onesided borderline obsession for him. He joined the death eaters mostley because he had nowhere else to go and only really changed sides to save Lilly. In the books it pretty clear that after everything he still irrationally hates Harry for reminding him of James and the fact that he was cucked. At the end of the day far from even a truly evil person but by no means perfect.
Poor Neville suffered a lot because of Snape. Snape blame him for dead of Lily in kinda sick way i guess (if Voldy decide that prophecy was about Longbottoms, Lily was still alive). Us much i love Alan Rickman in role, i hope in series we see book accurate Snape.
37:39 maybe the difference between the charm and the hex would be intended target? A disillusionment charm, the target would be the cloak, would allow it to blend in with surroundings or whatever. The bedazzling hex would alter how the viewer or target sees and interprets what is seen.
To a certain degree I believe that one of the points of this series is that no one is purely good nor evil, but each has potential for good. With Snape, the good he had was his love for Lily. I do agree that this was the primary, if not the only, motivations for the good that he does. That is the good within him. Dumbledore knew this initially and used it. I think Dumbledore assumed that, over time, it would fade and that Snape would fine goodness elsewhere. This is why he is surprised when he sees Snape's patronus. Snape loved one person, but that was enough for him to do what was necessary, even after she was gone.
@@7gamex Proven? this isn't a math equation. Also, that only demonstrates that he hated James. And James deserved it. Snape demonstrates that it's not simply obsession by continuing to protect Harry even after Dumbledore is gone. However, he also demonstrates his continued hatred for James in his constant bullying of Harry. To me, this actually demonstrates the great flaw of Lily. How could you let yourself fall for your oldest friend's most aggressive bully? It's kind of gross to me.
@@7gamex Snape was a shitty person. So was James. James was just part of the accepted tribe. Snape calling Lily a bad name doesn't make what she did ok. Her own sister called her a freak (there is no "racial" slur for witches so this is as close as it gets) and Lily still pursued her. Snape at least apologized. James never apologized. Neither James nor Lily ever said thank you or even indicated gratitude for the warning Snape gave to Dumbledore. You could say James was never cruel enough to be a death eater... maybe. And maybe if he were put into Slytherin, we would have. We can't say one way or another. As for the "no one lets themselves fall for someone". That's a childish mentality. To a certain degree, that a big lesson in these stories. You always have a choice. Lily made her choice and it ended up costing her her life. Imagine if she simply told Snape "I forgive you but I can't go with you down that pathway" or if she told James he needed to apologize for his cruelty. There are 2 big lessons for the entirety of the story: 1) there is potential for good (even if just a little bit) in the most unlikable of people. 2) Even those you like most are capable of messing up. People are not simply put in the categories of good and evil. They are a mixed bag. Lily and James made both good and bad choices. So did Snape. Personally, I don't think I would have wanted to be friends with any of them.
@@moecrazyI'm sorry but if you're in your 40s still obsessing over your highschool crush then you are sad. What Snape felt wasn't truly love, the things he did was not love. He felt guilty for being the reason Lily died. That was the only reason he even protected Harry at all
@@FabricatedPheonix It would be sad if it was just a crush. It obviously wasn't. Lily was his oldest (and maybe his only) friend. She was the only thing he ever cared about. This is displayed quite clearly. What is it like for the only person you ever cared about to jump in bed with the person you hate most in the world? Well, it obviously complicates things. This is why Snape is a complex character. He's not good. He's actually pretty nasty. But even nasty characters can care for others. And even nice people (like Lily) can demonstrate that they are terrible friends.
31:02 you kidding me? If I had magic and my sibling didn't, I'd go out of my way to make their life easier with my magic. And I'm sure they would do the same for me. Having a magic sibling would be super useful, even if you missed out on magic yourself. As long as your relationship wasn't like that of Lily and Petunia. But they only got like that because of Petunia's jealousy. So, just don't be bitter, and you could have so much help from them
I feel that the dursleys reason for not wanting harry going to hogwarts starts with petunia, not vernon. And you kinda mentioned it. She missed out on being a witch. She was jealous of her sister (proven in book 7) i think they were protecting dudley from that same jealousy. They always gave dudley more, more food, more space (2 bedrooms) more fun (outing and stuff) but they couldnt control the magic. That is why i personally believe they didnt want harry to go to hogwarts. They didnt want Dudley to feel how petunia did.
it’s easy to understand her jealousy as a child, and some of that jealousy is due to the parents making her feel totally ignored and not good enough… but by adulthood, with a happy marriage and a beloved son, all healthy, in their own home etc , she should know better than to neglect and inflict cruelty upon a child, any child and especially her nephew who had lost his mother and his father .. it’s believable that she did physically look after Harry properly while a baby, but after toddlerhood , it was all Dudley …
About the smoke and the deatheaters flying. I assume it was a timesaver on the movie part, because in the book we get a slow development of the severity of the situation and the menace the new regime presents. But in the movies we need to focus on the action and black smoke clearly signifies that bad people are approaching, because we skip on a lot of things from the book that paint that picture.
As far as I understand, Voldemort wanted indeed to split his soul into 7 pieces. Harry was made by mistake. As Dumbledore said to Harry, he was the hocrux Voldemort never meant to make.
I think in regards to Harry's and Voldemort's wand connection in the graveyard is both unique and not unique. I don't think the victims showing up is unique simply because those were the literal pervious spells that wand had performed. Think about it. Cedric was the most recent. Then, the old man, then Bertha Jorkins, and Harry's parents. The last three were all killed with voldemort's wand by wormtail because Voldemort didn't have a body, but wormtail didn't have a wand. Harrys parents were the last spells performed before Voldemort lost his power. I think if that spell had been used in the field (detective work) it would have shown the same thing, but only if the wands last spell was used to kill. This is where the uniqueness comes in when their wands connect. They werent just connected, they were locked together so it would have continued to regurgitate spells at them as long as they remained connected and it wasnt just the fact that the cores were related it was also that both harry and voldemort had a bit of each other living inside them. Harry with the horcrux and voldemort with Harrys blood. The wands didn't just meet their sibling. They essentially met the same person in both directions. This is why Dumbledore goes on to tell harry in kings cross that his wand was only uniquely powerful against Voldemort but everyone else it was just an ordinary wand. Im sure there were very open and shut murder cases in the ministry using this technique, but just like real life muggle crime, you're not always going to catch your killer that easily.
31:50 there's a deleted scene of the Slytherins escaping captivity from the dungeons. Unsure if they participated in the battle or not, but they weren't locked up for the entire battle. At least in the movie canon.
Regarding harry being able to open the snitch to get the resurrection stone, The key is Harry kissing the snitch. It was set to open on the recognition of how it was caught in Harry's first match. Harry caught the snitch by having first contact with his mouth/ lips. When he kisses the snitch this is the memory the snitch holds of it's first contact with Harry causing it to open
Yes, because there's something about Snitches (I don't recall if the birds have the same property) having memory of physical contact. Thus why Seekers wear gloves.
@@MrPsyJak wasn’t it said somewhere that the snitch has a flesh memory , so disputes over who caught the snitch can be checked, so they shouldn’t wear gloves?
@@didreams969 No because the Snitch has that person's flesh memory permanently. The one Harry swallowed remembered him from the first book until the end of the seventh - that's 29 Quidditch matches later. That's why they wear gloves, to prevent it from bonding.
With the resurrection stone, after Harry drops it in the forest if I'm not mistaken he then no longer sees his loved ones around him. He only sees them while he's holding the stone so if him and someone else were both touching the stone at the same time would they be able to see their loved ones at the same time. You got me really thinking so now I'm literally going to be going back rereading all seven books to brush back up.
I’m far from a Harry Potter guy. I haven’t even seen many of the movies. But for some reason a video of yours popped up and I gave it a shot and I’m absolutely addicted to these videos.
Around 25:00, could the reference to Harry's scar burning just before his wand turns to block Vodemort be a description of the piece of Voldemort's soul protecting itself? It could be the horcrux using the wand and not a brother wand effect.
About the theory that Voldemort would've killed Harry at the end if he used his own wand or any other wand than the elder wand. He still had Harry's blood and therefore Lily's protection in himself, ankering Harry to life. As supercarlinbrothers name it lovingly, he is Harry's lovecrux. I don't think Voldemort had any chance of killing Harry himself at this point (he could've let someone else do it, that would've worked just fine).
The first of two reasons on how Voldemort picked up a cult following, is because he never told anybody his real blood status and so every dark-minded character coming out of Slytherin House probably assumes that he was a pure-blood; It should be common knowledge that most Slytherins with Half-Blood status would naturally want to either keep quiet about what blood status they are within the proximity of Slytherins who are pure-bloods or some like the former known as Delores Jane Umbridge, will just flat out lie about their Blood purity.
it took sometime for him to find any information about his ancestry…he searched for Riddle and had no luck, but once he looked up Marvolo he learnt he was a descendant of Salazar Slytherin … this must have made his ego hit the ceiling and reinforce his sense of being special…presumably when getting to know class mates etc, he said he was an orphan … by then he would also have knowledge of the importance of blood status …. so all he had to do was claim his famous Salazar blood line and then show ignorance of his other parent … as both were dead, or at least would be soon, there was no one who would dispute a claim of pure blood..[except Dumbledore] unless they investigated deeply … or he said too much too soon to his class mates .. His rebirth in the Riddle’s grave yard certainly showed that Pettigrew knew … but if the others knew or suspected the truth, they dared not mention the subject out of genuine fear..
@@didreams969; Voldemort found out before his sixth year; but he never told anybody about his true blood status even after he graduated Hogwarts, because if his Deatheaters was told about this during their years at Hogwarts they would've been privy to his true blood status, this was vaguely noted in one of the later books; Harry Potter told Bellatrix Lestrange this information during one of their encounters that her dark lord was a half-blood; and besides my second reply wasn't about when he found out, it was about how hung up most Slytherins were about their blood-status and wound up they are about keeping their blood purity pure😐.

I think slytherin's reputation was destroyed by voldemort. As his house he spent more time around them and with his charisma used it as a recruiting base for his following.
36:52 um, this is not quite true - the Weasley twins not only master the charm, but figure out a way to extend the effect beyond the scope of the object with their headless hats in OotP, later going on the supply the ministry with an assortment of disillusionment wearables. Either they or Hermione also point out that the effect wears off "rather quickly".
41:46 Funfact, in Hungary we call Ravenclaw Hollóhát which means "raven back". The other houses have different names aswell, Gryffindor is Griffendél, Slytherin is Mardekár and Hufflepuff is Hugrabug
37:10: Fun fact: Charmeleons don't actually use their colour shifting abilities to cloak themselves. It's more of a display of their emotions and for mating. A cuttlefish or octopus would be far more accurate for a comparison.
Priori Incantatum in the graveyard is also a product of the horcrux. I always theorized that Voldy’s soul in Harry also made wand allegiance weird. The wand is loyal to the soul and Voldemort’s soul was split so would his wand allegiance.
Snape may have been sacraficing for the wizarding world. The beauty of free speech is that when discussion is open and honest, the good and true ideas should always float to the top. I imagine its hard to be in service of Dumbledore for 15 years and still be a racist and bigot. I like to imagine he was impressed with hermione and his cruelty made her so much stronger. How can malfoy and crabbe scare you when Snape destroys you every chance?
Dumbledore could cast the body bind curse because the elder wand was one of the three Deathly Hallows, along with Harry's invisibility cloak, and the resurrection stone. There was I think, some sort of symbiosis between the three Deathly Hallows.
Harrys and voldies wands both had a feather from the same phoenix. What is a phoenixes most known ability? To rise from the ashes, be reborn. I wouldnt say its too far stretched to say the 2 wands acted that way because the animal in question was a phoenix. Maybe dragons or some other animals would have different effects. If i recall correctly phoenixes are quite rare so I guess it would be pretty unlikely that 2 people, whose wands both have a feather from the same phoenix would battle very often
I believe a better name in that case would’ve been “Ebonclaw,” seeing as Raven is always gonna be associated in the mind with the bird first-and-foremost.
The reason i like snape so much is because he does the right things for the wrong reasons. He came from a abusive household, was put into a echo chamber of his own beliefs by being sorted into slytherin, and made a horrible mistake that got someone he cared for killed. Then for the wrong reason he switched over to the good side at great risk, which eventually cost him his life. There is something so real and human about that. When someone does something terrible because of what went wrong in their life, take for example snape bullying students, we all say "well blah blah had a hard life and he turned out good" thats just not how life is. It doesn't always work out like that. Another thing i like about snapes character is that it almost doesnt matter how many times i reread the books i always go back to hating him until the reveal in book 7, love him again, repeat.
If slitherin isn't evil, then Percy Weasley would have been in slitherin. He's willing to do everything, except turn evil to get what he wants. He's the posterboy for slitherin ambition, without the evil.
He probably just chose it because of his family Maybe he even wanted to protect his younger siblings when they go to Hogwarts at that time Also he probably wanted his parents to be proud of him, their appreciation and attention, esp since in early childhood he felt kind of similarly to Ron. He had two cool older brothers who kind of mocked him/didn't take him seriously It quite slytherin of him honestly, but if the theory about the hat talking to kids helping them decide themselves rather than sorting, it makes sense why Percy would have chosen Gryffindor instead
It's a Harry situation, he was most likely going to be in Slytherin but because he had attributes of both Slytherin and Gryffindor and the fact that he asked the hat to put him in Gryffindor is why he's in the same house as the rest of his siblings. Or it's just bad writing on J.K Rowling's behalf.
This video is very gentle in criticism, we all know slytherin was written as the explicitly bad guys in the beginning and it was only changed later when JKR got some angry fan mail.
In the last book Percy displays incredible courage in the Battle for Hogwarts and in admitting to his family how much he had acted like an ass . He was also hiding out in corridors trying to capture Sirius by himself in book 3. Minor details, but it's the beef that makes the burger
Slytherins, according to Dumbledore, are known to have a certain disregard for the rules, which Percy doesn't have. And he does display courage. Deciding that your family is wrong and breaking away from them takes courage. Sirius did exactly that; it's just that in Percy's case, he was wrong about his family. It also took courage for him to admit in DH that he was wrong, apologize to his family, and fight in the Battle of Hogwarts.
I believe the Hufflepuff badger is best shown in Narnia. Trufflehunter the Badger says they are loyal. In Redwall, badgers are loyal. Since all three are English writers, badgers probably are seen as loyal animals.
15:22: It's easy. The movies chose to let them fly. It's clearly not apparition. And it looks the same when Voldi or Snape do it without brooms. So they changed it for stylistic purposes.
I think in many cases the part of Voldemort in Harry Potter protected Harry. Think about this. The scar caused Harry so much pain that he shut his eyes, and then the wand acted on its own. Maybe it’s the part of Voldemort that took control of the wand. If somehow it could detect danger and just wanted to protect itself. Think back, I think whenever Harry was in danger, the scar started to hurt.
@@VaultLoreit's right there in the book. After the flight of the 7 Potters, when they are all at the Burrow. Harry talks about his wand acting on its own, and the others don't believe him, trying to tell Harry that he was the one that performed the magic without realizing it.
No I know it acted on its own, but most attribute it to the wands having a mind of their own. Dcle944 is saying that the small portion of voldemorts soul in Harry is what fired the golden fire spell, not the wand being sentient or whatever.
I always thought that the same sort of magic that created the horcrux allowed Harry to live. By whatever mechanism, the fact that Voldy’s soul was already split made the magic work when innocents like Lily and Harry were in the crosshairs. As to say the not only did Lily contribute, but Voldemort’s own weakness contributed.
29:10 I think maybe you should re-read Book 1. Harry isn't "finally able to snag and read a letter before being scarted away to a shack", he's unable to get a letter until Hagrid arrives at the shack. Also, to the following point about why the Dursleys don't want Harry going to Hogwarts: they explicitly say that they didn't want him to become a wizard and wanted to stamp it out of him. Hiding the letters from him is them trying to deny him the ability to become a wizard. This is just basic book knowledge honestly.
The actual reason was because the last person on the family allowed to be a wizard or witch was brutally murdered infront of their 1 year old, so I'm just saying, give them a little bit of slack, it's less of a "they don't want Harry to be a wizard" and more "they don't want Harry to be a wizard because he could be brutally murdered before actually starting his life
@@elywahl9520no, you are wrong, they don’t give a fuck about Harry getting murdered, they kept him from getting the letter mainly because petunia didn’t want dudley to feel left out like she did AND because vernon didn’t agree with magic at all and wanted to “stamp it out” it had little to nothing to do with Harrys safety.

51:00 Voldemort didn't kill Myrtle to make his horcrux from the book, the basilisk did. So professor was a horcrux. He killed him by using his body, which was holding Voldemorts soul.
Quirrell isn't a Horcrux, he is posessed by one. The whole plot is that Voldemort split his soul into seven pieces: diary, Nagini, diadem, ring, locket, the cup and Voldemort himself. The reason his power was weakened was that he broke the charm of 7 when he accidentally made Harry a Horcrux.
@@MrPsyJakthe charm of 7 didn’t even exist. That was just something he believed would help him, he thought 7 was the most powerfully magical number and that’s why he wanted a seven part soul but that wasn’t anything more than superstition. There was never any magical power to be gained by having a seven part soul which means his power wasn’t weakened by him having an 8 part soul. That was nothing but superstition, he never would have gotten a power boost if he had had a seven part soul and he definitely didn’t lose power or become unlucky because of him having an 8 part soul. That just didn’t happen. Also, he still had the lucky number seven, he didn’t have a seven part soul but he did have seven horcruxes so if there was a power boost to be gained by achieving the number seven then he still would’ve gotten that power boost because he still had seven horcruxes. But like i said, that wasn’t actually a thing. It’s not like some magical spell or something would’ve spontaneously happened as soon as he had a seven part soul. He just wanted a seven part soul because he knew it was the most powerful magical number. It was like a good luck charm or something. He never thought it would actually make him more powerful, it was just like a human wearing a lucky rabbit’s foot or something, we know it isn’t going to magically make us lucky, it’s just a superstitious little good luck charm. Voldemort didn’t lose anything by having an 8 part soul and he wouldn’t have gained anything by having a 7 part soul. And it's clearly not Riddle being superstitious - he says: "isn't seven the most powerfully magical number, wouldn't seven-" He's not being superstitious here - he's referencing his studies, most likely Arithmancy. If it was simply a case of weakening his soul by creating too many, he'd have made a much smaller number of Horcruxes.
I think what it means by “impenetrable concealment no matter what spells are cast at it” is that no matter what spell you used, you could not break the invisibility. So you couldn’t Accio it off or use some sort of revealing spell on it
Tbf, the slytherins were not locked up. Their common room is in the dungeons for a start but then again I'm in Slytherin. If they dotn want me battling, be my guest haha.
I am somewhere between Slythering and Griffindor. I did choose Slytherin for Hogwarts Legacy, but part of that is because I preferred the aesthetic of the Common room for them.
@fawfulfan; the Smoke effect and the pure light effect for apperating Death Eaters and Order of the Phoenix are supposed to be representations of their auras for either bad or good, that is why the Death Eaters appear to be flying in and out of existence in rocketing streams of smoke.
Another misconception is that Avada Kedavra is an unblockable curse. There are a few instances in the books where the curse is blocked. One that I always remember is during the fight between Dumbledore and Voldemort at the ministry. Dumbledore uses a gold statue to block Voldy's death curse 3 times. In all other examples, where the killing curse hits an inanimate object, the object simply shatters. For golden objects, the curse rebounds. The conjecture is that gold, in general, blocks death somehow. This also explains why Alchemists are interested in transforming elements into gold AND immortality. They look like independent pursuits, but if gold is associated with immortality, it makes sense that the two are pursued together.
I believe when Moody / Crouch Jr. Says it's unblockable, he means you can't block it with a shield sharm like pretago or something like that. I originally thought the same thing. "How'd that headstone block the spell if it's unblockable?"
The reason the dursleys did not want to Harry to go to hogwarts all boils down to control. They wanted to control him, this pattern is classic abusive family routine. They did not want him to be happy , make friends and come to the conclusion he is a normal boy and not a freak of nature, which to their eyes he was like all wizards and witches.
I could be wrong but I thought I read somewhere on Pottermore, that there was a Half-Blood or a muggle-born that was put into Slytherin, and the portrait there would always be yelling at her because they weren't a pureblood. And a lot of the Slytherin students would mock them. Again I could be wrong
There were loads of halfbloods in slytherin, Harry was almost put in slytherin, VOLDEMORT WAS A HALF BLOOD AND IN SLYTHERIN. But there wasn’t a muggleborn in slytherin, that simply wouldn’t happen, salazars whole thing was that he believed magical learning should be kept in the magical blood lines and he absolutely refused to teach muggleborns. Theres no way that the hat would ever put a muggleborn In slytherin. There were loads of halfbloods but not muggleborns.
At 23:00 My view is that Harry's wand wouldn't have been stronger even until a few mins ago until Voldy takes Harry's protected blood into his own veins ... he just can't kill harry anymore unless he kills himself first ... the protection is within him ... and that's the ancient magic everyone talks about, showing up ...voldy's spell cannot reach harry, with a also version of him inside Harry, which owes its loyalty to Lily's protection in blood.... Its similar to how in the books Pettigrew's claw hand ends up killing him ... certain loyalties are the part of ancient magic rules, laws and everything falls under it.... Same with when the wand raises itself to protect in the 7th book ... Voldy blasts at harry, the horcrux part of him is connected to know something is coming ... the blood protection kicks itself in, and the an involuntary horcrux itself pushes the wand to release its power .. its a short circuit where the same wire is getting re-routed...
Yes actually that is canon, the main reason why the students in general weren't forced to fight was A. They were underage so if they wanted to they could leave, and B. Because not only slytherins but also gryffindor and hufflepuffs and ravenclaw all had family in the death eaters just more of them were slytherin and the least was hufflepuff, that's why it's mainly hufflepuffs at the battle of hogwarts cause simply they were fighting against the least amount of family
i think ive read the disillusion would be to be invisible in the sens that light would go through and the hexes would make your mind not see the hex caster so dissillusion would be hard to be perfect and would reach predator cloak level (which work when not moving and not so good when moving) only in very talented wizard but work on everybody at the same time whilst hexes would make the caster invisible only to those afflicted
i know this is the silliest thing ever to be invested in but that one section in level 1 is just the most affirming thing to someone that as a teen used to worry whether i was "worthy" of being in hufflepuff, lmao but like now when putting it like that there is no doubt that i would absolutely be in that house, as it has the traits i value the strongest, and do portray more than i used to give myself credit for i think
So the theory is that Snape told/asked Voldemort to not kill Lilly and the plan was to kill James anyways, has nothing to do with instinct or bravery it's purely love if the theory is to be beleived, because yes James sacrificed himself but it wasn't really a sacrifice as he was gonna die anyways, where as if Lilly just left then harry would have been killed, the main theory also comes from the fact that Voldemort fired the avatar kadavra straight at James where as he shot the second one at Harry and Lilly jumped in the way, again it wasn't like Voldemort said "move" she didn't and then he started blasting, he said "move" she didn't and he still tried to kill Harry not Lilly, the intent was for James to die there for no protection curse, where as Lilly jumped infront of a blast intended for Harry, so protective spell or whatever, what that doesn't do is explain why the curse works on Harry and the rest of the hogwartians at the battle of hogwarts, unless you take into account the spell was meant to kill Harry but actually killed the piece of Voldemort still in Harry, and honestly that just proves the theory even more
For some reason I always thought the death eaters flying/black smoke was called Flitting, like it borders on the edge of disapperating but it’s not a fully fledged form of it… but I have no idea where I got that from, perhaps mixing up a term from a different book series
@@VaultLore Yeah I figured out where I got flitting from and oof memory unlocked, it’s what the vampires did in the Darren Shan series Cirque du Freak 😂
Funnily enough I grew up with the french version and I still struggle with it being an eagle. Had you asked me as a kid what it was I would have said eagle but the image I have in my head is a raven (also eagle's imagery don't really fit with the ravenclaw vibe imo, an owl or the vague idea of a bird would have made more sense to me, I associate eagle's with pride which I link more with Slytherin than ravenclaw. Ravenclaw do value pride I guess but quirkiness, wisdom and learning are more important there to me, idk)
A question I’ve always had was wouldn’t Voldemort have been stronger/easier to come back if he had had only 1 horcrux, bc wouldn’t the bit of soul that survived in Albania only be 1/8 of the whole rather than 1/2?
Voices would definitely be affected when consuming polyjuice potion, due to the larynx changing also. So the only thing that would be different is the tone of voice and the way a person speaks. We get the same effects with voice changer apps/programs.
It's been a while since I read the books, but my headcanon has always been that Voldemort didn't split his soul into 8 *equal* pieces. Each time he created a horcrux, he just sliced off a chunk big enough to serve as an anchor. So he created a system of 6 spiritual tethers that tied him down to the mortal plane. A nice, symmetrical system. Harry, as an unintentional horcrux, provides a destabilizing force that undermines that system and ultimately causes it to collapse. This theory would explain why Voldemort survives death the way he does, why the horcruxes remain unchanged afterward, and why there's a big difference between Harry and Quirrell, who was simply a vehicle.
Firstly, it is good to hear such sensible and no-nonsense discourse about HP. Correction, though. Albus Dumbledore didn't sacrifice himself; he used his fatal error in putting on the cursed ring in order to further the plan to bring down Voldemort. To me that will have taken enormous courage. Additionally, I've always found the sorting hat's asertion that it has never been mistaken hilarious. The Wizarding World is full of very gifted wizards but all human, or mostly human. Presumably, this included the Founders. If humans are imperfect, the hat was created by an imperfect being and is, therefore, imperfect and capable of error. I, too, get weirded out by people's love for Snape, especially as I have actual experience of abuse by teachers and matrons who, by the very nature of their authority, were free from centure. I applaud your efforts to untangle all the misconceptions and misinterpretations - clearly not aided by movie mud.
44:59 - Speaking of Pronunciation of Spells, it took me 20 years to realize *what* Hermione is Correcting Ron about in the “Wingardium Leviosa” scene in the Movie. He has an intrusive R and pronounces it more like “Leviosar”, didin’t notice it despite watching it 100 times until I had it pointed out to me.
I'm not sure how i feel about this "love charm" and James. I kinda feel like it's unfair to him. They knew it was Voldemort and that he probably came there not to drink some tea and talk it out, you know. I guess he knew he had a bigger chance of death than of survival. And he still protected his family to step before the guy and save them sometime. I love Lily, but I hate it when James and his courage is overlooked as well. Cause most of the time it's just "my mother's sacrifice" and not "my parents'"
My theory about flight: It was Lily's talent. Lily taught Severus, and Severus taught Voldemort. Lily is on the swings when Severus's memories begin, and "soars high into the air". I believe she also stays up far too long and lands too softly. Sounds like Lily can fly to me.
No. Lilly didn’t even know she was magical by that point when she “flew” off the swing set. Magical children will accidentally use magic, nevil fell out of a window when he was like eight and he bounced like a rubber ball instead of getting hurt, Harry magically grew his hair back in one night and also accidentally apperated onto the roof of the school building to avoid being bullied, these things just happen as children. The magic will come busting out of them at times. To suggest that a young girl who isn’t even aware that she is magical was able to discover unassisted flight when even the best witches and wizards weren’t able to do that is just crazy. No, Voldemort discovered the ability to fly, that’s a whole plot point in the books, it is a way to show just how powerful and brilliant Voldemort is when it comes to magic. He was the first to discover it and he taught it only to snape because snape was such a loyal and valuable death eater. To take that away from Voldemort is just wrong, that’s like one of his biggest feats of magic, it shows just how incredible he is and it shows just how much he valued snape because snape was the only one he gave this skill to. To take that away from him, one of the most amazing and powerful feats Voldemort ever did and give it to a child that doesn’t even know she is magical is awful. That would suggest that it wasn’t even a feat of magical brilliance, it was just some lucky thing that lilly was born with. Plus, the fact that only Voldemort was able to do it tells you that he probably had to use dark magic in order to do it, do you really think lilly is using dark magic? Also, lilly was in the order of the Phoenix, don’t you think if she was the creator of this amazing feat of magic that she would have taught it to everyone in the order? Or at least would have taught it to james? Why on earth would snape have been the only person she ever taught this skill to? If that were the case it would mean that lilly had this amazing ability and instead of sharing it and using it to help the order win the war she just selfishly kept it to herself? That paints lilly in such a horrible way and it honestly ruins her character. You guys really need to think about these “theories” before you post them because sometimes they are just painful. That’s almost as bad as the “ron is dumbledore” theory.
Every one should be noted and aught to remember that it was clearly stated in the books, that even though invisibility cloaks are rare objects, Harry Potter's invisibility cloak is not the only one in the wizard world, the cloak was the only cloak shown in the movies, to act more as a foreshadowing for the eventual 7th/8th Deathly Hallows films than a portrayal as being the only invisibility cloak. It is the only Invisibility cloak to be one of the 3 Deathly Hallows but not the only invisibility cloak in the entire wonderous world of Harry Potter.
If Dumbledore had the power to put up the blood charm on harry and 2 of the 3 conditions also worked at hogwarts to protect him then why didn't he do so leaving harry at grimmauld place after lily's death with sirius? After clearing black's name ofc??
To be honest he had all three at Petunia's, which was ideal. At Hogwarts he may have drpped one, but Dumbledore could protect him in other ways at Hogwarts.
Hmmm...about casting spells through the invisibility cloack, i fo remember Draco casting Petrificus Totalus at Harry while in the train, I think in the the Half-blood Prince.
Hogwarts doesn't count as "his home". He is generally safe there because Dumbledore and others are there to protect him. Dumbledore literally says Harry needs to return to the Dursley's once a year to continue the charm. It's why he asks the Dursleys to allow Harry to return one more time before his 17th birthday in book 6.
Vault your channel is amazing i don’t know how you have less subscribers your channel is awesome I thought this was a 500k plus channel. I’m going to be watching your career with great interest
I suppose in the movie, the death eaters bailing after harry got a respawn, would just be the movie’s interpretation of apparation. Or maybe a type of flight. Like not true free controlled flight. More so like a emergency evacuation type thing. Where it pulls you back to a specified location. Kinda like being a passenger in a plane, you would be “in flight” but not actually “flying” as the pilots would be doing.
Priori Incantatem can be used willingly and will probably be used in law enforcement as well. Bellatrix uses it in Deathly Hollows to see that Hermione used a spell to disfigure Harry. Dumbledore mentions in Half Blood Prince that the Ministry of Magic found out that the Riddles were murdered with Morphins wand. The astonishing thing about the Priori Incantatem with Voldemort and Harry is that none of them intended to use it and it just occured after one wand overpowered the other, thus forcing it to relive its last spells.
Actually, Harry's invisibility cloak is made with the combined weave of demiguise fur with Thestral hair Stitching; Demiguise hair was the main material of the invisibility cloak's make, which is why it was described as being of a silvery color in the book(The Cloak was too blackish in the movies), because it was the material part of the cloak, but what prevented the material from tearing and losing its invisibility effects is due to the Thestral hair thread stitching. I have drawn to the conclusion that the threads that were used to stitch together the other invisibility cloaks were either ordinary thread or thread that was made with the same stuff as the material. This makes me wonder, why Ignotus was the first and only magical human to have ever occurred to use Thestral hair in the construction of his Invisibility cloak? Do not forget that it was the Peveril brothers who have invented the Deathly Hallows themselves; Beedle the bard only followed up with the outlandish factions of how the Hallows were created to immortalize such magical feats the brothers displayed.
The Peverell Brothers invented the Hallows in the 13th Century; Hogwarts itself was only a few hundred years old at that point. I think it's entirely plausible that it took that long for wizards to come up with these inventions. Remember that in the real world, Medieval Europe pretty much forgot how to do running water for a millennium. Personally, my bigger hangup with Harry Potter lore is, how on earth did it take wizards until 1981 to discover that a parent willingly sacrificing themselves for their child grants them Killing Curse immunity?
@@tilltheendoftime-adventure8441 ; It is true that the figure of death thing is still in play, and technically there were more than one figure who embolizes either the appearance or the Aura of death or the meaning of death or the trickery of death through out the entire Wonderous-World-Of-Magic: The Basilisk snake represents the meaning of death; The Dementors Represent the Aura of Death; Voldemort/Tom Marvolo Riddle Represent the Appearance of Death; Albus Dumbledore Represent the trickery of Death. I know that everybody believes that Dumbledore embodies Death as a whole, but I believe he is only the representation of how tricky death can be[the final death is the easy part, but the tricky part is whether you get to choose your soul's path or if your soul will either automatically go to heaven or a place of punishment;_ that is the tricky part].
@@fawfulfan About the self sacrifice to save your child, I think it's more that if someone’s willing to kill a child, they're willing to kill the parent. The only reason Lily’s sacrifice had that outcome was because Voldemort gave her so many chances to step aside so he could kill Harry, yet she refused to budge. He would have allowed her to live as long as he got to kill Harry. Usually I think they would all just get killed. Why spare a parent if you're already about to kill the child?
Perhaps the stigma around Thestrals kept wizards and witches away from them? They were often viewed as a bad omen since you could only see one once you've seen death. so rumors and superstitions were probably enough to keep most magic folk far away and avoid them. That would be my guess from the info in the books at least.
You forgot Luna found Harry unconscious under the cloak. So you may not see a dead body under the cloak but you would see flies and other insects around a dead body.
So that is just a movie thing, and not cannon. It's actually Tonks that finds him in the books. And she doesn't see him under the cloak, she guesses that he maybe hidding under the cloak, and uses a spell to lift it off of him.
That’s just a movie thing. For one the “wrackspurts” that luna sees buzzing around harrys head aren’t even supposed to be real, im pretty sure those are just more fake creatures that her and her father believe in so i don’t know why they made it real in the movie, also, it was tonks who found Harry under the cloak. You movie fans really have got to stop commenting on these HP videos until you have actually read the books. For one, you don’t know anything about Harry Potter at all if you haven’t read the books, okay? The movies show you like 25% of the whole story and to make it worse half the stuff in the movies are false information that never happened. Seriously, if you like Harry Potter then you need to read the books, even if you hate books, i never liked reading either but i absolutely loved reading the books. You are missing so much amazing stuff. And i was like you, i was stupidly commenting on videos thinking i was right even though i knew nothing but eventually i learned that i knew nothing and i decided to read the books and im so glad i did. I urge you to read the books! But if you don’t read the books then at least do yourself a favor and stop commenting on HP videos, please? You are only making yourself look foolish, i promise you, you aren’t going to correct anyone who is making a HP UA-cam video and if you watch an HP video and you think something is wrong just do yourself a favor and remember that they aren’t wrong, you are, the reason you think they are wrong is because they actually know the real story and you don’t. If you haven’t read the books then you have no business correcting anyone. If you don’t know anything about a subject then you shouldn’t be correcting people about that subject. I see it all the time, someone posts a good HP video and the comments are filled with people like you commenting about stuff they missed or got wrong even though they didn’t miss anything. The movies are a fun way to see the characters on screen but that’s it, they do a horrible job at telling the story, they have so many things wrong and they just aren’t that great. They are a fabulous way to introduce someone to the story but after you are interested in the story you need to read the books to get the full picture. So please, just remember that if you haven’t read the books you know absolutely nothing about HP and you are in no place to be correcting anyone. That’s like a kindergartener correcting a 12th grader on a math test, you are way out of your league. Im sorry to be so mean but man, if only You knew how amazing the books were compared to the movies and how much better it is when you read the books then you would understand. If me being mean forces you to read the books so that you can know what you’re talking about and be able to comment and correct people then it’s worth it. Go read the books. You won’t be disappointed.
53:44 i would love if you made that a video, as a lover of the books and the movies i’ve kinda got them scrambled even if i’ve read the books more. My brain is a mush at this point
I think what Xeno Lovegood meant about the cloak and spells is that there is no spell that can actually remove the cloak's magic ability, not that it will protect the user (or itself) against spells.
So actually, in the movies all the deatheaters fly. It’s wrong because only Voldemort and Snape are known to fly. But I’m the movies that black smoke is them flying, I assume they chose it for artistic reasons, or it looked cool
Also, the reason why the symbol of Ravenclaw is an eagle might be because the "raven" part of the name refers to the colour of the claw rather than the bird. So the name would actually mean "black-claw"
39:50 isn't the entire concept that death can't find you as long as you wear the cloak? It should basically be not only an invisibility cloak, but also an immortality cloak because you just can't die while wearing it.
I dont think she did...not completely. She knew James and Lily were murdered and that Harry staying with them would keep him safe..but I do not think she understood how powerful and ruthless Voldemort was. If you look in book 5 order of the phoenix when Vernon wants to kick Harry out after the Dementor attack on Dudly Petunia does not stop Vernon from kicking Harry out until a Howler comes and says the words " REMEMBER MY LAST PETUNIA" which we later find out is Dumbledor. She knew that Lily and James were murdered and that Harry is kept safe with her which is why she let's him stay even against Vernon's wishes. If she knew about Voldemort and how horrible he is. She would not have even entertained Vernon's idea of kicking Harry out. She would of probably gone off at Vernon and called him a idiot as kicking Harry out leaves them vulnerable to be found by Voldemort.
Also she only wanted Harry not to go to Hogwarts because of her Jelousy and not wanting to go through the pain she felt of growing up with a magical sister. She did not want more reminders of her being unspecial which is why she is horrible to Harry.
How did you miss the chance to name this Harry potter and the iceberg of misconceptions
About the dursleys…. Idk about vernon. But fact ist petunia isn’t scared of magic, she is dying of jealousy and obv doesn’t want her sisters son to have, what neither she nor her son can ever have. Fun fact, in book 5 she mentions Snape.
But nobody realizes it til book 7! I love this one!!
Vernon just hates anything nonconforming to the stereotypical traditional image of a successful man and family and Harry’s status threatens that
@@rebbeccahoneycutt7941😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😅😅😊😊😊😊 50:08 😊
Ye i assume so aswell. Imagine being in a room with fiend fire but under cloak 😂
The cloak itself isn't affected by magic, but people have to remember it's still just a sheet
I wonder why he would do that, I feel like voldemort would not have been to happy about that.
That's only in the movie. His actor was told to start casting a spell and that was the last one he remembered reading in the books. In the book however luscious didn't even draw his wand he just lunged at Harry
Right in front of the headmasters office too 😂
@@britishmushroomimagine a parent committing a crime at hogwarts trying to kill another student 😂. Major plot hole
They neglected him in other ways
This makes me wish that Dudley’s kid turns out to be a wizard, and gets accepted to Hogwarts. Vernon would probably be shamed lmao
Correct!
That's correct, it's just plainly said and shown in the books
This also explains why the fetusmolt that is inside him didn't get the same protection- Voldemort is incapable of loving even a sliver of himself once cast out and it didn't choose to sacrifice itself, hence it dies while harry lives. this is a banger take @astrovite

Also, with regard to whether all prophecies are fulfilled... remember, in the Hall of Prophecy, some prophecies on the shelves were warm and glowing, others were "as dull and dark within as blown lightbulbs". I've always understood this to mean, the glowing prophecies are the ones that were, or still could be, fulfilled, and the not-glowing prophecies are the ones that did not come true.
what about the glowing ones are cirrently active, while the dark ones are not yet active
Voldemort created Horcruxes uses Ancient Dark magic, Lily created one using Ancient light magic. Two sides of the same coin.
Didn't Malfoy cast a spell on Harry while under the invisibility cloak when he tried spying on the train? The cloak doesn't block spells...
39:28 draco casts the petrify spell on Harry while he is under the cloak while they are on the train
Yeah, not evil, but I don’t think he’s a “good” guy. Troubled, maybe. 😂
A 30+ year old man bullying 11-17 year olds is walking that very thin line though. He's not evil but is most definitely a terrible human being
Poor Neville suffered a lot because of Snape.
42:05 In the first edition of the italian print, Ravenclaw was called "Pecoranera" (Black Sheep). Now THAT was confusing! xD
Oh woah, that’s crazy haha. Why would they do that?
@@VaultLore No idea tbh, who knows what the translators were thinking 🤣 It was changed very early though, now we have "Corvonero" (Black Raven/Crow)
Hahaha oh thank god
@@VaultLore-
To a certain degree I believe that one of the points of this series is that no one is purely good nor evil, but each has potential for good.
@@moecrazy Yeah no that doesn't change things. He was still obsessing over someone from his childhood. It weird, creepy and super sad
Haha I’d be so jealous I don’t blame her
it’s easy to understand her jealousy as a child, and some of that jealousy is due to the parents making her feel totally ignored and not good enough… but by adulthood, with a happy marriage and a beloved son, all healthy, in their own home etc , she should know better than to neglect and inflict cruelty upon a child, any child and especially her nephew who had lost his mother and his father .. it’s believable that she did physically look after Harry properly while a baby, but after toddlerhood , it was all Dudley …

So, you believe in reincarnation, aliens abductions, sasquatch, magic, miracles, and such?
I’m far from a Harry Potter guy. I haven’t even seen many of the movies. But for some reason a video of yours popped up and I gave it a shot and I’m absolutely addicted to these videos.
Around 25:00, could the reference to Harry's scar burning just before his wand turns to block Vodemort be a description of the piece of Voldemort's soul protecting itself? It could be the horcrux using the wand and not a brother wand effect.
You’re not the only one who had that idea, seems possible!

4:30 I believe Snape is what allowed it in the first place , asking voldy to not kill her and voldy accepting
Yeah I think that’s true
I think slytherin's reputation was destroyed by voldemort. As his house he spent more time around them and with his charisma used it as a recruiting base for his following.
True!
"Slytherin isn't the evil house, it's probably akin to the house that will become CEOs."
Noooooot really helping your case there.
Lmao
“No post on Sundays” line lives rent free in my head on Sunday.
Ooooh interesting point.
Maybe rare to have two phoenixes, but I’m sure other more common cores could be farmed.
to my understanding raven claw means black claw (raven is a synonym for black, as in raven hair...) for which eagles are known for.
That makes so much more sense!! Thank You 😊
I believe a better name in that case would’ve been “Ebonclaw,” seeing as Raven is always gonna be associated in the mind with the bird first-and-foremost.
He probably just chose it because of his family
Maybe he even wanted to protect his younger siblings when they go to Hogwarts at that time
Also he probably wanted his parents to be proud of him, their appreciation and attention, esp since in early childhood he felt kind of similarly to Ron. He had two cool older brothers who kind of mocked him/didn't take him seriously
It quite slytherin of him honestly, but if the theory about the hat talking to kids helping them decide themselves rather than sorting, it makes sense why Percy would have chosen Gryffindor instead
Oh interesting theory, I haven’t heard that about the wand acting on it’s own before!
Occulemcy lessons is what harry goes for with professor Snape is trying to train him so he can not enter his dreams and Control him.

Just found your channel yesterday and watched the other HP iceberg videos and now there's another video :D
Welcome aboard! Thanks for watching!
The actual reason was because the last person on the family allowed to be a wizard or witch was brutally murdered infront of their 1 year old, so I'm just saying, give them a little bit of slack, it's less of a "they don't want Harry to be a wizard" and more "they don't want Harry to be a wizard because he could be brutally murdered before actually starting his life
@@elywahl9520 no, it's actually because they're assholes.
@@timothygodwin7575 tell me you haven't read the books without telling me you haven't read the books 😂🤣😂 stupid 😂🤣😂 casually saying they don't care if Harry dies, then why they take him in the first place 😂🤣
@timothygodwin7575 genuinely shows how little of the book you read if even a singular word, Petunia was jealous of the magic because she wanted it too, she didn't want dudley to feel left out because she was also left out, but that doesn't take away from the fact her sister and her brother in law were brutally murdered because of the magical world, it genuinely does make sense that the main reason Petunia wanted Harry away from the Wizarding world is because of how unknown and dangerous it is to them, if you actually look at it from their perspective the shit they did makes sense, it doesn't excuse the abuse or make it right at all, but it does make sense and they very much so obviously cared for Harry even if very minimally because they could have dropped his ass off at an orphanage like Tom was, or you know just let him die as a baby, you make it seem they didn't care at all, and it just proves you've never read the book, they are way worse people in the movies and in the books the reason they do things is actually explained, when I say "the real reason" I don't mean it's my personal theory, I literally mean it from the books mate, again tell me you didn't read the books without telling me you don't even know how to read 😂🤣😂
The voice in poly juice potion was a movie logistic, it’s just to show who is actually the character under the character otherwise viewers would have been confused who is who
Book 7 A lot of Hogworts students were punished with torture by the Death Eater- Teachers. I was wondering if Filtch took part in any of the punishments towards the students. He always seemed to wish he could. If he did could you imagine the trouble he would have when the school reopened?
(He lost plenty by having an eight part soul but that had nothing to do with the number of soul fragments and everything to do with the fact that making horcruxs causes a lot of problems no matter how many you have. The more you have the worse you
Will be.)
@@timothygodwin7575 7 IS a magically powerful number in the Harry Potter Universe - if you read through them, you'll be surprised to find how many sneaky ways the number 7 shows up.
Yeah, that’s a good one!
I believe when Moody / Crouch Jr. Says it's unblockable, he means you can't block it with a shield sharm like pretago or something like that. I originally thought the same thing. "How'd that headstone block the spell if it's unblockable?"
Yeah I think physically blocking it makes sense, you just can’t defend against it with another spell. Unless it’s love.
Setting a bad example may be better than being a normal parenting figure. It definitely will last longer than being loved.
About the invisibility cloak "protecting" the user from spells. Draco casts the petrification jinx on Harry on the hogwarts express, no?
RIP Maggie Smith 🪄🪄🪄🪄🪄🪄🪄
I heard a theory that Slythern students are sent to the basement so they don’t have to fight with or watch relatives die.
Probably true
Yes actually that is canon, the main reason why the students in general weren't forced to fight was A. They were underage so if they wanted to they could leave, and B. Because not only slytherins but also gryffindor and hufflepuffs and ravenclaw all had family in the death eaters just more of them were slytherin and the least was hufflepuff, that's why it's mainly hufflepuffs at the battle of hogwarts cause simply they were fighting against the least amount of family
i think ive read the disillusion would be to be invisible in the sens that light would go through and the hexes would make your mind not see the hex caster
so dissillusion would be hard to be perfect and would reach predator cloak level (which work when not moving and not so good when moving) only in very talented wizard but work on everybody at the same time
whilst hexes would make the caster invisible only to those afflicted
i know this is the silliest thing ever to be invested in but that one section in level 1 is just the most affirming thing to someone that as a teen used to worry whether i was "worthy" of being in hufflepuff, lmao
but like now when putting it like that there is no doubt that i would absolutely be in that house, as it has the traits i value the strongest, and do portray more than i used to give myself credit for i think
Hah could be! I’ve never heard that word before but it’s possible!
@@VaultLore Yeah I figured out where I got flitting from and oof memory unlocked, it’s what the vampires did in the Darren Shan series Cirque du Freak 😂
😂 😂
That’s not really how it works. Yes, the more horcruxes you make the worse off you will be but it doesn’t make you weaker.
New to your channel, big HP fan would love if you did more Potter content. Great video.
Yeah James got the short end of the stick for sure
My theory about flight: It was Lily's talent. Lily taught Severus, and Severus taught Voldemort. Lily is on the swings when Severus's memories begin, and "soars high into the air". I believe she also stays up far too long and lands too softly. Sounds like Lily can fly to me.
I love this theory!!!
His is just the best quality one, being made of both Demiguise hair and Thestral hair.
In regards to the visibility flow, preventing spells in the beginning of the half blood prince, Draco paralyzes Harry while he’s under the clock
Yep
If Dumbledore had the power to put up the blood charm on harry and 2 of the 3 conditions also worked at hogwarts to protect him then why didn't he do so leaving harry at grimmauld place after lily's death with sirius? After clearing black's name ofc??
To be honest he had all three at Petunia's, which was ideal. At Hogwarts he may have drpped one, but Dumbledore could protect him in other ways at Hogwarts.
Hmmm...about casting spells through the invisibility cloack, i fo remember Draco casting Petrificus Totalus at Harry while in the train, I think in the the Half-blood Prince.
so happy i stumbled upon these videos :)
Thank you!! I’m on my way!
The story itself doesn't rule out Death being an actual figure or entity, however, so it still has merit.
Im sorry to be so mean but man, if only
You knew how amazing the books were compared to the movies and how much better it is when you read the books then you would understand.
Love your videos , really well put together. Have subscribed and liked. Hope your chanel continues to grow.
Thank you!
I think what Xeno Lovegood meant about the cloak and spells is that there is no spell that can actually remove the cloak's magic ability, not that it will protect the user (or itself) against spells.
Subbed! Loved the video man!
Awesome! Thanks for watching!!
🙏more harry potter icebergs! 📿
Always! Thanks for watching!
Petunia knew about Voldemort so they definitely wanted to keep Harry away from Hogwarts to protect themselves
