“My Own Prison” album stays on rotation still in my home
Same here
I'm sorry
same that record is timeless
I was never a fan of their music but Creed played an arena I worked at multiple times and I will say this, Scott was one of the nicest talents to ever come through. He treated everyone with respect and was quick to make you laugh.
I thought they were consummate professionals as well. They came and did their thing. Stayed to themsleves. A little too clean for me as a rock band, and never liked their music, but this dude seems like a real cat. Blessings to him
@@mumbles215Respek.
yep, his treated his wife with respect too lmao
are you the scott stapp lol
Except the time he was hammered and punched the wife of one of the dudes in 311 in a hotel bar and got his ass kicked. Lol
I have incredible memories of CREED. I am a Canadian who was playing pro hockey for the Tallahassee Tiger Sharks and we used to frequent the bar that Creed regularly played at and got to see them grow into a massive band. The owner of the bar was our pal and he eventually became their manager. They were all great people and i'm thankful for those times. At the time, we had no idea that they would turn into a massive act.
Miss those Tiger Sharks Days & going to see Creed at Floyd's!
Remember Scott shucking oysters at Barnacle Bill's
Did you bang any hockey groupies that followed you guys around?
You guys are making me feel my age 😢. I just recently saw Alter Bridge and I got to meet “Flip” and turns out he and I share the same home town and childhood stomping grounds 🤘😎🤙
Those were great days.
Having done photography shooting Scott a few times, I can honestly say he’s genuine & an extremely cool guy. I truly wish good things for him.
Bruh I remember when Durst was running his mouth and Stapp challenged him to a boxing match for charity and Durst chickened out 😂
Truth
Limp Bizkit fell off cuz of Fred's weird stuff. Crazy time! Lol
That's funny😂😂
Wasn't Fred on Epsteins flight logs?
Gives a new perspective on "full Nelson" 😂
If anyone denies that Creed wasn't a huge success at the time is delusional. An amazing collection of talent. Albums sales and sold out shows don't lie. As with many bands ...things just imploded. It happens. At least Alter Bridge was born from it and that is a great thing that is still thriving.
success doesn't equal talent. I'm not saying they aren't talented.... I'm just saying: many talented people aren't known and many know people lack talent.
People don't like them for the same reason they don't like Nickleback.... and the same reason, ironically, that they like Steven King. King calls himself the McDonald's of authors.
McDonald's is popular globally! .....is it a perfectly cooked steak? no.... but people aren't very bright if they go to McDonald's expecting a steak.
....or expecting some groundbreaking literature from Steven King (I have nearly half of his books and I love his work. I also enjoy Big Macs).
People wouldn't dislike this band to the degree they do, if they weren't successful.
Nobody hates Puddle of Mudd with this sort of fervor. 🤷♂️
Creed didn't sell that many albums to nobody. They didn't have actors filling the stadium shows they sold out. 🤷♂️
A lot of bands I personally can't stand have huge fan bases. No many have as much hate thrown at them though. Doesn't really make sense.
Also, to be clear: I used to be a Creed fan... but I'm an atheist and Creed isn't something I listen to still. I'm not saying I turn it off but I rarely think of Creed, personally, when making a playlist.
I say that because I'm not some huge Creed fan or someone who likes them because of religious reasons. Instead, I don't think they deserve all the hate they get and I don't have a dog in that race.
Success doesn't equal TALENT!
Is Creed a successful band? Indeed it is. It's undeniable and anyone who denies it is either deaf or delusional. Is Creed's music good? No, their music is bland and boring apart from the Full Circle album. The band has everything every true musician doesn't want to be
I mean i Sang some of the songs, bc we HAD to hear them, and not a huge fan. With that being said, no doubt they are legends. They had CONTINOUS air play, sold out arenas, and Higher and One Last Breath will ALWAYS LIVE ON. As far as best-track-laced-over-wrestling clips, NOTHING will top "my sacrifice"
@@harleykalashnikov9311 that's the point. Their indulgence to commercial nonsense makes their music boring
Scott looks healthy and happy. Good to See.
I love seeing Theo in these more serious moments. He really has the ability to do great interviews. Love this

I still love the feeling whenever One Last Breath starts playing randomly on my playlist. It never gets old
"Why did Creed break up"
"Well I lost my absolute mind for a while, that was one thing"
"And well, theo, I don't have to tell you about the dookie piranas am I right"
I really loved the 2009 album. Every song is great. Can’t believe that was 13-14 years ago already. I still hold out hope for one more album.
On My Sleeve is regularly on play in my house.
A Thousand Faces is an absolute CLASSIC
I still love listening to "Time". My fave from the Full Circle album for sure. Away in Silence as well.
@@andregiante3940 yeah me too. People say their songs are forced and contrived but man that song is so authentic and personalised. Incredible
Its not gonna happen brother...Tremonti is just too busy with his solo project and Alter bridge and various other projects
Creed had some great songs. This band was huge back in the early 2000’s. “Hello old friend, we meet again!” 🎶
More like late 90’s. By the 2000’s they’d pretty much started heading down hill only riding the success of the 90’s
More like “ herllo mry frands wre mreet ohrgan”
@@thewalruswasjason101 😂😂😂 perfect that's how I sang it in my head while reading the comment.
Just in case everyone didn’t know, because i didn’t for a long time. After creed the band (minus Scott) stayed together added in Myles Kennedy as singer and formed Alter Bridge.
AMAZING band! Might be my favorite rock band of all time.
Creed was important to me as a kid. Really love that they're all in a better place and glad that some are coming around to Creed a bit more now. Higher, My Own Prison, Inside Us, and One Last Breath are all amazing songs for me.
Good list - I also loved One- lyrics really apply well today.
Always felt the band was cheesy growing up but something sincere was hidden there somewhere, this whole interview kind of put the pieces together, also torn is a pretty good guitar riff
@@rikudrk sometimes your first reaction is the right one.
Right there with you. I learned how to twirl my drum sticks by watching Scott Phillips and mimicking.
Never Die is one of my top 3 fav Creed songs!
Scott is a prime example of what not to do once your dreams come true.
Yes, I think he would agree but I can also understand the stress and pressure and wanting to make it all just… go away.
I’m not going to beat him up over it. I’m sure he’s done it more than any of us ever could.
@@1Deep43VA I can agree with that.
Unless you have personally dealt with anxiety and depression it is hard to say what was going on in his head. He seems to have overcome his depression
Well... Kinda... But then there's Mike Tyson, Michael Jackson, Harvey Weinstein, Ezra Miller, Bill Cosby, Jada Pinkett ... Scott is not a top-tierer by no means.
@@1Deep43VAI agree. I think at face value it seems so ridiculous to stop when you’re at the top, but none of us know what that’s like. It’s more pressure than we’ve ever felt, having what feels like the entire world looking at you at all times.
Creed was an awesome band, thank you guys for all of the music!

God I loved Creed, still do. Scott has had some wild issues he's had to deal with, but when he's sober and straight up, seems like an amazing dude.
He’s looking healthy and clear minded. He’s always been really nice to me and easy to talk to. Glad to see Scott still doing well.
He has been sober for about 10 years

@@grapejuice2589 They're literally one of the biggest bands from the 90s and early 2000s... I'm by far not alone here..
Well said
Creed was an incredible band… anybody who was alive during this time knows they were literally the biggest thing on the planet during their run… I seen them in concert back in the day and they put on a great show…
I wouldn't say they were *the* biggest thing around, more like they were among the top musical acts of the time. I was alive then too. Right after the boy bands died off in 2001, the three biggest things in music were Eminem, Linkin Park, and Creed. Unfortunately the latter imploded, and Linkin Park peaked at the beginning.
I put their 1st album in my top 10!
Seen? You must live in Kentucky, or Alabama.

@@burtkocain6846 Yeah, where I was they were most def. not the biggest thing around especially for Teenagers which I was at the time.. Creed was known as music Parents would listen to more then anything else even though they did have a couple catchy pop hits but not a single person my age took them seriously that I knew. They were just another temporarily big music act that disappeared soon after along with plenty of others. It's genuinely surprising to see so many people in these comments saying they're one the greatest.. That's some other worldly wild statements but to each there own I guess.
Miss you Creed. You were my youth and I have incredible memories with your songs
good to see Scott seems very put together, thoughtful and clear headed.
I have a ton of respect for what Scott has accomplished. The responsibility to perform night in and night out he speaks of is a massive blessing and should be viewed as such. When you see that as a burden or a source of anxiety...maybe the business is no longer for you. Many see a career in music as a big joy ride...it's majority the polar opposite...the focus is on the folks in attendance, sometimes at your expense. They have always said its a tough business...its a fact. Good stuff fellas!
I was involved in a car pile up out of Houston In 2001. Best concert I've been to. Totaed the car. We walked away and shouldn't have. We were being watched over. Still love Creed. Keep singing Scott. Love your voice and message.

They made some incredible songs together. My own prison is about as powerful a rock song as you'll ever hear and his song he wrote about his about to be born son "Arms wide open" is something any expecting father or mother should listen to and cherish. It can be both. Rap, Rock, comedy, it's all relevant and interesting. But it makes financial sense to have more rappers since Hip hop is the number one music genre domestically and internationally.
@MONEY CITY MANIAC It is everything internationally. I'm sorry you can't handle facts, but it overtook rock music a decade ago as the number one music exported from America

These kinds of story's are always so interesting.
I've been newly obsessed with the acoustic version of Creed's My Own Prison floating around here on UA-cam and can't get over the utter internal turmoil and pain it conveys--certainly through its lyrics, but even more so through the notes and cords of the music itself. It really evokes deep emotions for me.
I'm just coming to this video after watching that. Listened to it dozens of time in the last year. It's such a deep rendition
I love Scott Stapp. He has gone through so much. The pressure of knowing. Man. Theo is such a good listener. That's why I subscribed.
my favorite band in the early 2000's. they seemed to talk to me and where I was in life then. 9/11 happened and Creed had all the Anthems for that particular time. just recently married and finding that spiritual strength through their music. they were very special to me in a time of introspection.
They are certainly tied to that era. Their career did not span decades, but you’ll transport back in time mentally when you hear their records. Just like for example: Limp Bizkit, Linkin Park, Kid Rock, they all had about a good decade of dominance and then it was done . But anyone from that time (late 90’s to earlier 2000’s ) made an lasting impression on not just American music at the time, but the entire world.
Decade is pushing it. 5 years maybe
Their music is so beautiful. I don't think Creed needed to "party on" forever. It was a religious tribute to humanity with beautiful, nostalgic lyrics; not everything has to become some eternal repetitive machine. I think so many musicians feel pressure to "keep the party going" that they lose sight of the music ... Touring, show after show. Get back to your heart, and connect with inspiration. Nothing was lost, because I believe the purpose was served; it's timeless, beautiful passion. There can be new bands or journeys for their poetry.
I never liked Creed or any band mentioned above but,all of those artist were last of their kind. Rock n Roll hasn't been popular post 2009. I'll give all of those bands,Creed included, that no one rock n roll band has been able to match their popularity, for that long, since 07/08.
I loved all the music of that time.
He fails to address his addictions, just calls it bad decisions lol.
An addiction is a bad decision. He addressed it wonderfully. 🎉
Creed was my first favorite band ever. I'm so glad I've now gotten to hear Scott Stapp speak, because he seems like he has a lot to offer the world. Thanks, Theo.
If he would get his act together then yeah. His first solo album was fantastic, esp "Broken", Powerful song
The best thing that happened to Creed was summed up in these words. Alter Bridge. It took a literal line up change and a tweak in sound and they didn't need Stapp in it.
@@tristancreed they lack a powerful songwriter in Alter Bridge. Stapp is a genius with a pen.

Creed was my first concert! They came to my hometown and it was one of the biggest ones we ever had, filled up the entire fairgrounds and felt like half the town had come out for it. Had SevenDust and Finger11 I think if memory serves right, shit was off the charts, then after I stayed over at a friend's and we ended up popping the CDs we had bought in my truck and just cruising and causing a ruckus and having a good ass time singing along to all the shit we heard live earlier.
Had a lotta good starts to a weekend before, but that one will always stick around my noggin!
Thank u for this video bro ive been a fan of creed since day 1
I've always loved creed. The song, torn, goes so hard. I also went to church and experienced first hand religious toxicity, and that song got me through that. I use to blame God but then I matured and realized it was the church that was toxic not the word.
Wow me to, my exact same experience
OoOo I love that one.
Yes!
Torn is my favorite of theirs. Every now and then I revisit that song and just binge it.
Amen to that. Pastor here. I've experienced it, and worked through it. Didn't expect the Lord to make me a pastor. Doing my best to help a church grow healthy and do the good service it's supposed to do. May the Lord guide your steps, because the Biblical Jesus has all we need.
Saw Scott this Summer.
Let me tell you, I've seen over 200 rock shows, and he was top 2 vocals I've ever heard sounds like it's 1999

Saw Stapps solo show in 2019 before the pandemic. Great show. He is still singing well and better than he had in years. I hope Creed can reform but not at the sacrifice of Alter Bridge or any of that bands projects.
I remember before creed ever made it big they lived on sixth Avenue in Tallahassee Florida played at Floyd’s and then one day they got their break. They were an amazing local band, and even though there were issues, I’m really glad they were able to rise above go their own way and do solo projects. He left out the part that the reason for their breakup was his drug addiction. He was straight up losing it. Multiple arrests, domestic abuse, saying and doing crazy shit. His band tried desperately to get him help.
Well that is the addict way. Deflect and refuse to acknowledge.
It's clear he hasn't dealt with his primary issues if he can't openly admit what the real causes were. He eluded to the "bad decisions" but never actually said it. Him refusing to own that is a big character flaw. It was just a few years ago he was begging fans for money insisting he wasn't on drugs again. But it appears he's doing okay now. I don't care for Scott, I think he's a selfish asshole that hides behind his faith and "forgiveness" but I'm glad he's doing better.

They were very good. Scott can still sing. Loved the messages in many of the songs
The short version of why they broke up and stopped touring was born out my first time seeing them. The most hyped show at the time, impossible to get tickets, etc. Drove an hour to see them back in my hometown of The Woodlands, Tx. 22,000 people in a sold out amphitheater. Lights dropped, first song came on and half way through, Stapp waived off the band, the music stopped, he said, "I'm sorry, I just can't do it, I can't do it anymore...." Walked off stage, crowd was shocked. A local radio DJ came out and apologized that the show was being cancelled. Why? Stapp couldn't sing the vocals live in a tour load. He was full of steroids to keep his vocal chords going and just ran out of ability. It happened again and again and the band basically called it quits.
Holy Christ.
He also had a huge mental breakdown…that was sketchy
This hits a lot of artists and why it's so important to write songs within a range that is comfortable for you to sing. The occasional extension is fine, but you have some artists that write things that are just nuts, and it's easy to do in a studio where tracks are recorded in segments, or in sets of just a couple songs like live on talk shows, but for a two hour show back to back nights? It still happens with artists now. Sam Smith, while a totally different genre, did the same thing and if you notice a lot of his new stuff is a lot more tempered. It makes you look at it in a totally different light.
I remember I was there
@@PsychoCPUexactly why Myles very very very rarely does words darker than their wings live, but when he lets loose it makes grown men cry

Scott deserves the world he has unknowingly helped so many people I wish he could’ve had that in return, god bless you always Scott 🙌
and now they are back BABY!!!!!!
His comments about the entire show rested on his ability to go out and sing, shows why the band broke up. He is a tool who is full of himself. the remaining members of creed have been Alter Bridge since 2004 and have had no problems. Stapp is the common dominator.
If you think Creed didn't center around Stapp and his lead singing/songwriting, you weren't paying attention. Of course he would feel pressure.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed and hoping that they patch things up between each other. I know it's a little selfish to say, but I really want to go to one of their concerts at some point in the future and even if I never got to go just getting to hear some new songs from them on the radio or my phone would be really awesome.
They will - even Mark has said it's a matter of not if, but when. If they do, I'll be there!!
I saw them on their reunion tour in 2010 and they killed it. Would love to see them live again
I don't think its a matter of them patching things up. Mark, Brian, and Flip are just too busy with Alter Bridge and their side projects. Mark has put out 10 albums since 2012 averaging 1 album a year with just Alter Bridge and his solo stuff.
God dayum these guys were so fking huge. I still listen to them daily when I’m working out.
This is an Amazing Interview
Seems like Scott has done a lot of healing & has come to terms with a lot of of the bridges that he potentially burned with his band. You can tell when he was talking about ego’s in the band, he was mainly talking about himself. But I’m glad he seems to be at peace with everything & dudes seems genuinely happy.
Creed was incredibly underrated. They were amazing
Creed was immensely over rated. They were generic
Creed was one of my childhood's biggest bands. They were so massive with that first and second albums. No problem filling up massive stadium after stadium.
Great band. The days of burning mixed CD’s to put in my Walkman to go running. Their music would always be on those mixes. Good times!
He was suffering from undiagnosed Bipolar. So he deserves a little slack for self medicating. Seems to be doing great these days. Hopefully they can reunite down the road. I'd definitely pay to see them again 🔥
he was a loser
Creed was great, but the band (minus Scott) stayed together and formed alter bridge which is imho by far a better band.
Don’t get me wrong I loved and still love some creed songs.
But alter Bridge is just amazing. If you haven’t checked them out. I would recommend it!
Myles is miles ahead as far as talent
Bipolar or raging alcoholic?
No I'm sorry mental illness isn't an excuse to be an ass.
Scott looks really healthy. Good to see him on the up and up. Dude battled with a lot of Demons for a long time.
He has been sober for about 10 years
Love how when pockets dry out, these bands alwaaaays get back up no matter the beefs they had, so funny
Creed has always been in my top 5 bands. I miss these guys.
Scott looking more like Will Patton every day. LEGENDS, both of em.
1999-2002 Creed was one of the top 10 most famous bands in America.
Some of the best Music Creed made was on that first Album My Own Prison.
I was not the biggest Creed Fan but man that Album from the first song Torn - Sister. Great Album
I ❤ CREED ..SO STOKED YOU ARE BACK
