Whether you like him or not, this guy is the poster boy of a style of singing. Creed was all over the radio in the 90s. Plus: he’s been to the top, and the bottom, and found himself through it all. Respect

I was in highschool during the whole Seattle scene, and Stapp was one of a host of singers accused of ripping off Eddie Vedder (the dudes from STP, Bush, Staind, etc were others). If you check out their wikipedia page it appears the bassist was let go because he publicly said Stapp was a better songwriter than Vedder, almost certainly acknowledging what was a common criticism at the height of their success.
I get that most people coming here are fans of Scott/Creed... not here to simply troll or pee in the pool. I'm glad Scott's beat his addiction demons and didn't end up like Weiland. Good for him and good for his family. I'm glad to see he has some humility now, because it wasn't considered his strong suit during his glory days. As a guitarist I like Mark Tremonti quite a bit and was recommended this after watching one of his interviews.

I saw Creed in Salt Lake City during the 2002 Winter Olympics. During "With Arms Wide Open", I called my wife who was back at our place with our 5 month old son. I held the phone out so she could hear the song as she was holding him and I was thinking about him. Not gonna lie, tears of joy streamed down my face as I was thinking about my newborn son, while listening to Scott sing about his.

Very polite, down to earth and spent time visiting with me and my 10 y/o son who was recovering from brain surgery. Couldn't have been a nicer guy. Seemed shy about his fame. I didn't realize that it was going to be an acoustic show but I'm glad it was. Great songs and some great stories. Of course it helped that my seats were about 15 feet from him in the 2nd row. I was the biggest alcoholic ever! I worked in the oil patch and would drink a 40oz and half a 26 oz bottle of vodka everyday from the age of 26 to 39 before that it was a 26+ oz bottle of everything from 17 to 26. Was hospitalized for pancreatitis the first time for 94 days and the Drs didn't know why I wasn't dying because with my symptoms the patient died I was a medical anomaly and they would bring in the gastroenterologist students to show me to them and talk about me! When imwas finally discharged in good health my first stop on the way home was the liquor store and I was back on the sauce! Was hospitalized 14 more times with the same thing and just couldn't quit! Then when I was 39 my bc was pregnant And I was still boozing it up rite up until I heard my son's heartbeat at his first ultrasound and I started crying and went home and had a couple of drinks and the next morning I just put the cap on the Almost full bottle of vodka and haven't had a drink since! I didn't go brought withdrawal at all and it's a miracle that I didnt because of how much I was consuming because when I've tried quitting before I would end up in hospital for a minimum of 2-3 weeks just with withdrawals.now I'm a sober single dad to an amazing ten year old boy!

@Trolls Will Be IgnoredI haven't drank in a very long time. Having kids was the catalyst. I didn't want them to have to grow up like I did, in a house full of chaos and drunks. I've actually tried a few times throughout the past 20 years to drink, and it just tastes really nasty to me. I never had an issue with drugs, I experimented when I was younger, like most of my peer group, but never fell into that particular trap, mainly because I didn't like the feeling, especially anything like what we called "go fast" (coke, meth, crack). Acid bored me, X was great at first ( I tried it not long after it was illegalized, friend of mine could get the real deal) but after all the pure supply was gone, it sucked like acid did. So I suppose I am in recovery, and 12 step recovery helps a lot of people, my daddy swore by it. (Yeah, my daddy went Home with 25-26 years sobriety, we fixed our relationship before he went Home. ) It just made me want to drink after I was at a meeting, I'm one of those people who, if you don't see, hear, or are around those who do it, I really don't think about it. I had to face all my demons that I was trying to suppress with booze instead. Mental illness and addiction are practically twins to each other, I've seen it time and again. So however you get off the hamster wheel is all good, least in my eyes. If you're in recovery, however you do it, yay for you! Nobody needs the drama that addiction will bring. I support anyone who wants to bring positive change to their life, because I've been there in the trenches, and it sucks. The more you free yourself from negative people, places and things, the better you feel about you. Namaste.

@Trolls Will Be Ignored That's brilliant! Yay, yay, yay for you!!!! Keep on trucking, I mean it ain't always rainbows and unicorns, but it sure beats the alternative, lol! And thanks about my daddy, I miss him every day, but I know he isn't hurting anymore, and he's just chilling out, waiting on me and the rest of his family. I actually feel like he's around me a lot. I'm at the age now where I'm seeing more and more friends and family go Home, and I've been there before, remember that clear as day, so though I don't want to leave my people anytime soon, lol, when it eventually happens, I'm cool with it. God bless you, Blessed Be, and Namaste dear.

@Trolls Will Be Ignored oh goodness, I'm so very sorry, I know how it feels. I was a wreck for about a year after daddy went Home. What really sucked was I was suckered into marriage by a socio who saw me as an easy mark. So I dunno what your personal life is, but take my word on it and don't leave yourself open to folks who will take advantage of your vulnerability, personal or public life. I'm trying to get a divorce from said socio so I can marry the man I should have married 30 years ago. What a long strange trip it's been. My heartfelt condolences to you, it will get better with time. God bless you dear.

@Trolls Will Be Ignoredwell, while I'm still legally bound to him, he was never my husband. He showed his true colors on the wedding day. It's complicated, it would take me writing a novella to explain it. Yes, he's a sociopath.
I do hope that you can find peace, my bff had both parents fall to dementia, and she's now caring for her uncle who has Alzheimer's, and I'm close to her uncle too, so I do know how it affects someone who loves them. Maybe even think about therapy, as my bff is in therapy as it has really helped her. God bless you dear, and I'm sending up a prayer for you and your family for healing.

I’m sooo glad to see Scott looking happy, healthy and sounding strong mentally and emotionally! I thought he would never make it to this point from the depths of darkness he had dropped to. Even when he and his wife appeared on that reality show to address their relationship issues he was open about his mental health problems and his past drug and alcohol abuse but he hadn’t reached the point of recovery and healthcare to really achieve an ability to appear and respond in a reasonable and “normal” way. His reactions and responses to situations that arose on that show reflected that he was not quite in an emotionally or mentally healthy state and needed to continue pursuing treatment and apparently he became aware of this at some point because he’s obviously come sooo far from how he looked and sounded even then which was several years after his breakdown/meltdown.
It’s encouraging and inspiring to see a celebrity who has been in the depths of hell and hovered on the edge of complete destruction and death come back to a place of health, happiness and be a role model and be completely open about the struggle with overcoming mental health issues, their failures to address it well or properly and admit how their choices contributed to exacerbating the problems without making excuses or trying to paint it in a better light. He practically exudes a glow of health and joy now! I couldn’t be happier for him and his family!

I self medicated my depression and anxiety for many, many years... It took me to such a dark state of despair... It landed me in and out of jail like 15 times, so many rehabs, detoxes, shelters, psych wards, etc... I ended up living on the streets for a few years... Sleeping on park benches, project stairwells, subways in manhattan, etc... I dont know how i survived through those 15 years or so of hell, but i did... My older brother hung himself in 2014 and lost his battle with depression and addiction... I wouldnt wish this shit on anyone, not even my worst enemy... Now, i have about 3 years off all mind and mood altering substances, but i still struggle immensely with major depression and anxiety .. Ive been isolating pretty much 24/7 ..sleeping...shades drawn, in a dark room, alone... No social life..no ambition..no motivation .. Depression can be paralyzing.. I wake up dreading the day, and feel as if im walking around with weights on my legs... Stories like this give me hope that i can find happiness some day and purpose.. Id love to have a family some day.. Im 32 years old ..no plan. No career .. I just enrolled in school (better late than never i guess) and am going on my 4th semester..ive made the deans list every semester so far somehow .. Which is cool, but i have so much more i need to do, but my mind and body wont allow me to.. I always get in my own way... I hope to soon get in a better state of mind, find a decent career, get my own place (because im currently staying with family..and at 32 years old that is really embarrassing to accept) ..i hope to find a good woman like Scott has, and children to love and give me purpose... Sorry for rambling..but things have been feeling really hopeless lately, and ive been having unhealthy thoughts.. I just want to be normal and be a productive human being like the majority of society.. I need to man up.. But mental health is impeding my ability to go anywhere in life.. Anyway.. I hope everyone out there struggling finds purpose in their lives and happiness.. Keep fighting .. And to those who are struggling with addiction, there is a better way..i may still be miserable, but id rather be where i am now than where i was when i was shooting dope
