I love that you walk through every single step!
The owner is lucky he got you to do his car. No telling what he would be ending up with if he did not have someone who paid attention and made sure it was right. Very informative as always.
That kit needed alot to make it work. I love the problem solving solutions. Great vid!
Wow! you must have the patience of Job! I think this one would have done me in for sure. Great work as usual .
good to know i wasn't the only one that had issues with this kit.. it didn't want to fit my dynacorn rear rails and my cross member X brace thing wasn't flat either.. i had to flex the crap out of mine to get bolts to line up.. i also had to drill out almost all the holes with a 9/16 bit and elongate those plates a bit..
I was thinking of TCI products for my '70 sportsroof, but seeing this video is definitely making me think about searching around a bit more.
On the other hand, you now have a debug guide
@@dabisnit Good point, actually ended up going with Heidts instead, because of price point and options, rather than fit.
On that center floor stiffener they either didn't use a jig to fabricate it to control the warp or took it out of the jig while the metal was too hot allowing it to warp . Either way that part's issues are on TCI no doubt . Great video , very informative . Hoping my next restoration will be a Mustang after I finish the F100
It's a good thing that you know how to fabricate you had your hands full on this one good job.
Phew, what a hassle that was for you. Your patience and determination to get it done properly is admirable.
Welcome to Hot Rod Building!!! Where "Everything" Fits "Perfect" and glowing reviews are expected by the manufacturer of said products by everybody that paid. /s The other guys they just give free parts or sponsor for publicity.
This here is why I rarely buy anything with the expectation it will fit. I tend to build my own suspension, patch panels, roll cages, brackets, etc....
Glad you had some to fab up the new ends. Nice work.
My goodness. Fitment issues drive me crazy but I guess it's to be expected. It's a good thing you can fabricate metal to make it work. Nice work.
That's crazy it needed that much work. You Definitely could have fabricated something better than what you received.
Thanks for replying.
Unfortunately that is the reality of using a non stock Ford body. They obviously changed some of the frame and body dimensions, but it sure threw a monkey wrench into your sub frame strengthing kit. Thank God you know what you're doing. Looks great, keep up the excellent work.
Not really,I started the install 9n mine last night and have to slice and dice to make it fit
I always enjoy the thought process you put behind your decisions!. It's unfortunate that it fits so poorly but it will fit...eventually.
Catch you on the next one :-)
Your a hard worker! Good Luck Brother!
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Great job, way to keep your cool and work through it.
Those TCI set-ups are nice. FYI check to make sure of your spring rating before installing. It might save you a headache. :-)
looks great and thanks for the update, i may fab from sckratch a simular system for my fairlane project, keep up the great work.
You could split the to narrow suspention mount along the edge and place it on frame rail with a small gap then tack it at correct width, then weld it back.
That was my plan. Already done. Good idea. Thanks.
@@JoDaddysGarage looks like that kit was built on a Friday afternoon…
Taking notes here , I’m building my own kit … if you can and remember rear shocks and front struts brand and part numbers
THANK YOU...for sharing. Nice work as always.
Sorry about that talking into the microphone and didn’t read my question properly I’m doing a front TCI and back 4 links suspension just wondering how many hours it took you thank you and you do quality work
I really don't know. Between the extra fab work and filming, it took a couple of days.
Dynacorn rear framerails are wider than OEM, that's why the TCI brackets won't fit. We make our MTF Watt's link to fit the Dynacorn rails.
Yep. I figured that out.
34:38 I know it MAY be camera angle but I swear I can actually SEE the deflection in that crossmember at the front! WOW
Barry the thing that I keep thinking is that I wish I was there to give you a hand! :)
I could have used some help. Thankfully my neighbor has been working with me for years, but I have to wait for him to come home from work.
You must have excelled in Logic class...deconstruct/reconstruct problem solving seems to suit you well!
It will be good when you're done but you're having to work pretty hard to get it to match that floor pan.
Man Barry. That didn't sound like fun. I try not to cuss around my grand kids but that would have had me cussing up a storm.
Has always I Liked, Shared and added to Playlists.
All my best.
Bobby
I was just wondering I have a 68 convertible and I’m doing the TCI front and for like suspension I’m just wondering how many hours it took you to do the install on yours roughly
Another Awesome video and i feel better now that i got my Jo Daddy fix..... Lol
Seems like it would have fit better. with all the fab work you did you would have better off building your own.
another great video mate keep it up,, thanks
Just wondering why you just seam weld whole body. Those bolted stiffeners looks good but make car only heavier nothing else. If you fully weld those you can get some good out of them.
Not a bad idea.
Nice job as always 👍
Hello ,
Great job you made !!! really !!
but the company or you buy the replacement parts, they do not have a quality controller ??? stamping molds move with time, it is well known !!
eric from France
Thanks Eric. They may have to make pieces a little different to comply with patent laws.
yes I understand but they send you plans that seem to rise perfectly! it's a lie !! I find it a bit better to be like a bodybuilder experimenting and find alternative solutions anyway !! Congratulations you are a master in the matter, and you always find a solution!
bravo
eric from France
The company that you bought that stuff from are they high or are they just selling scraps to you
Thanks I needed that
the undercarriage looks awesome
i agree, you could have done a better fab job with just the pieces, nice work :)
All I've got to say about those parts are pure and simple poor workmanship and I'm sure you paid good money for them. One would think that a jig would have solved these kind of problems. I've been in the metal fab biz for over thirty five years and any time a multiple of units had to be built the first step was to build a jig or something to that effect. Crap like this sure tries ones patience and it seems you have lots of patience . I hope it gets a bit smoother in the future, but I won't hold my breath !! Take care !
I'm sure these are jig built. The difficulty is they're not jig built for a Dynacorn pan. Apparently there are some differences between the Dynacorn and an original floor/rails.
Hi, can you sent the TCI Part number or Kit you bought? I got a convertible mustang 65 that will like to change the rear and front suspension with TCI.
I sis not buy this kit. It was provided by the owner of the car.
29:57 and you wanted to smash the CAMERA???? so much for the jig used to build the TCI jeez! This video is great cause it shows imperfection being massaged INTO perfection!
Wow, complicated stuff..
It's to bad Tci doesn't make a kit for each application or at least ask the buyer what application he has and let him know that the kit only fits original framed cars. The average diy'er would be hard pressed to do what you have accomplished. Good job.
I contacted them and sent pictures of the issues.
this is the scary thing about dynacorn bodys be told nothing lines up correctly
Not ragging, but would have been easier to mock up the entire the assembly, then modify floorpan/rails to suit?
Just askin for future reference lol
Not possible with a one piece floor pan. The Dynacorn pan is built as an assembly using their pieces. It may be possible if you bought all the pieces individually.
Jo Daddy's Garage fair enough, love what you do mate, keep em coming!
not sure that smashing camera with hammer will really help . . . . the camera at least
How many hours do u hv in the broolyn pony so farrrrr,,,,,,,,
I don't actually track my hours, so I have no idea.
ok.....so u charge by the job and not by the hour ?
Thank u for ur time. Tom
Pretty much.
massaged!
If it's not oh yeah metal anything else is just not shaped right
boy has inside of shop change
Meant to say OEM part
Send em a vidio
damn after market parts. Try building a VW. then you will really find stuff off spec.
Have you seen my old dune buggy build? Speed buggy?
no but I saw it there. How about a vw bus. do one of those concourse talk about work. OMG panels to line up just too much time for me. I blow them out in about 4 months not even concourse not even show just daily driver.
So very true
Trashing your camera is it typical aircraft mechanic senario
Sure. If it doesn't work, it's not airworthy. Dispose of it and get a replacement.
This is why you dont piece together a 60s car from steel made in China.
It's a good thing that you know how to fabricate you had your hands full on this one good job.
