#Top-5LuxurySUVs
This is a Motormouth couple car review of the top-5 luxury compact SUVs. There are many brands to choose from and all have high and low points, so we have come up with our top-5, in alphabetical order and you tell us which one you would choose.
Acura RDX
Pros: Roomy cabin and cargo area, lots of available tech and a good looking interior with very little hard plastic. Flat floor in the back makes it comfortable for middle seat passengers. Great vehicle for a growing family.
Cons: Track pad is difficult to use, there’s only one powertrain option and only two trims in Canada, but plenty of trims in the US making it quite an affordable option in the US.
Audi Q5
Pros: Great all-rounder, it does everything really well and appeals to a lot of buyers with its light steering and easy handling.
Cons: Needs an interior update, the screen seems like an afterthought sitting on top of the dash and with the removal of the centre console dial, there are some odd storage solutions. Although some may love the lighter steering, I also think that is a negative for some.
BMW X3
Pros: Excellent handling SUV, engaging and entertaining. The steering is heavier than what you would find in the Q5 but you can change the heaviness of it depending on the drive mode you are in. BMW is moving more to a lighter steering feel. The infotainment system is fantastic, we like the option of controlling the screen at the centre console or using it as a touchscreen and this is a spacious compact SUV.
Cons: The interior isn’t as nice as we expected, BMW added a fair amount of hard plastic to the cabin. The leather seats can look cheap.
Genesis GV70
Pros: Strong performing engines, precise steering, smooth, quiet and upscale cabin, very beautiful interior.
Cons: Small rear seat, no wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto, sometimes we mix up the rotary dial and infotainment dial at times, they are very close together.
Lexus NX
Pros: Updated technology including, wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto, fully heated steering wheel, Lexus Safety System 3.0 and safe exit assist, comfortable cabin and 4 powertrain options including a hybrid and plug-in hybrid. The hybrid model is priced well and is our favourite NX model.
Cons: The run-flat tires can get a little bit loud depending on the pavement you are driving on,
piano black interior on the lower trims, could look a little more upscale for a Lexus on those
So the list is Acura RDX, Audi Q5, BMW X3, Genesis GV70 and the Lexus NX. We also have some honourable mentions for brands like the:
Alfa Romeo Stelvio
Two powertrain options, a 2L turbocharged 4-cylinder with an 8-speed automatic transmission, 280 horsepower and 306 lb-ft of torque. The Quadrifoglio the more powerful Stelvio gets 505 horsepower and 443 lb-ft of torque.
Porsche Macan
Three powertrain options, the base model has a 2L turbocharged 4-cylinder engine with a 7-speed automatic transmission, 261 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque. Other models available include the Macan S with 375 horsepower and the GTS, 434 horsepower. A Macan EV is coming soon.
Mercedes-Benz GLC
There is a new GLC model coming this year, but surprisingly this one holds up and is a great choice. The interior feels luxurious, the drive is refined, quick acceleration and the cabin is well insulated.
Powertrain: There are two powertrain options, the base model has a 2L turbocharged 4-cylinder with a 9-speed automatic transmission, 255 horsepower and 273 lb-ft of torque. The AMG 43 gets a biturbo V6 with 385 horsepower and 384 lb-ft of torque.
Volvo XC60
With three powertrain options including a plug-in hybrid, all 4-cylinder powertrains and are matted to an 8-speed automatic transmission. The B5 with 247 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque, B6 with a supercharger gets 295 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque and the 455 horsepower T8 plug-in hybrid with 58 km/36 miles of EV range

Have a 2023 NX 350h average 40 mpg and Lexus #1 in dependability 22 out of the last 27 years from J D Power. Lexus least expensive to maintain among luxury vehicles. Fun to drive, quiet and the 14 inch touchscreen is great. IMO best looking SUV.
I have one too, and you would wonder why it didn't make this top 5 list
I have a Lexus NX 350 2022 and I love it!! It has everything I need and it’s very reliable!! ☺️
I bought the Lexus NX 350 premium in December; I'm very happy with it. I live in NYC so it's a great size for those tight city parking spots.
I can't choose between the Lexus NX or BMW X3. The Lexus wins in reliability, safety, and fuel efficiency, but I just love the exterior and interior looks on the BMW.
@@naveenthemachine maybe Toyota Camry V6 instead? No?
Ya might want to drive the two and choice the one that best suits your needs.
I was test driving Acura and Volvo and really torn because the RDX is roomy but I was really disappointed with the options and dealer upcharge the price ended up too far above Volvo. I am a long term vehicle owner so I really hope I will be happy with my new Volvo. Thanks for the reviews I really love watching all your info/insight.🥰
I looked at the MDX and RDX as well but once I saw the MPG I was petrified.
@@Izaya_Orihara Me too plus premium fuel too.
@@brianbaker359 if you look they are right inline with everyone else. The lexus is slow. Ill take performance
xc60 Is a fantastic choice in my book.
They did you a favor! Volvo is far better !! Acura is just a fancy Honda… Volvo is Volvo and they are the pioneers of safety, they’re beautiful , drive beautifully and have great sound systems!! My only complaint is their infotainment tends to glitch but my priority at the end of the day is safety not infotainment systems so 😏…
BMW X3 all the way. Solid, luxury, good ride, safe and looks good.
Great review!
The GV70 is the real heartbreaker luxury and advanced technology even if the tel connectivity it isnt wireless, other things are making this car unique and besides is the cheapest from the rest!
Best ride in this category is by far the Alfa Romeo Stelvio. Best driving compact SUV I’ve ever owned and I’ve had them all. Absolutely love driving it.
Any issues with it?
@@johntaylor1145 many lol but the drive is that good
Unreliable Garbage …
Favorite from this class is the X3M40i. What a great car - coming from an MDX Type-S owner. If I didn't need all the cargo and passenger space I'd be in one of those.
The new 2023 X1 is almost the same size and is much better looking inside and out. Plus it has that cool cantilevered curved screen and the cantilevered center console. It also has almost the same HP, is faster and gets much better gas mileage.
@@xorbitman the X1 and X3 M40i are much different vehicles. I’ll admit the new X1 is much improved when compared to its predecessor but it’s based off a FWD chassis and the X3 is based off a proper BMW RWD chassis. The X3 M40i has considerably more power and is much faster as well. And if you want the curved screen and Idrive 8, just wait for the 2024 X3.
I could not agree more. Get the X3 M40i while it’s still available. That powertrain is close to perfection. It’s smooth, refined, super powerful, quick, and it gets exceptional fuel economy in real world driving as well!
Being an Audi owner for many decades(Still own an allroad and a B9 S4), glad the Audi is still on this list. I do also have to say, I have always liked the X3/X4 in the M40i variant. Well done Zack and Andrea.
I remember when a friend bought the RDX when it first came out 4 or 5 years ago. I thought it looked terrific and was an excellent value. I don't know what has got into Honda but $57K to START? I can't imagine choosing the RDX over the Genesis or the Q5. I think Honda is going to price themselves out of the market.
i've been telling ppl that Honda/Acura effectively priced themselves out when i checked out the refreshed RDX. it was 10k more with no functional/performance upgrades. same thing with the civic, crv and MDX. unless they slash prices like Tesla, i don't think they sell vehicles like they used to.
I have driven all of them. The X3 was the best as far as tech and driving dynamics, but the thigh bolsters make my legs fall asleep while driving. The GV70 is amazing, but they are hard to come by. The NX could’ve used a bit more space inside, but otherwise I think it has the best reliability, decent tech, and OK seats (if you get the luxury with 4-way lumbar)
All of them are great choices. As a previous Audi owner, I would still take the Q5 given its overall balance and its user-friendly design typical of the brand. X3 is another great choice. In fact, X3 is such a great car. My friend just traded his 1.5 year old Model 3, who already tired of Tesla's notorious poor build quality/reliability and EV charging annoyance, for the 2.0T version. Of course, if I can afford the down payment and monthly lease payment. Macan GTS is the one to beat.
Really too bad what happened with the starting price of the RDX. Acura keeps making questionable choices
I was really disappointed to see that as well.
Already made my pick, Lexus NX 350h Executive Package. I find that the Lexus has the best bang for the buck and also the best selection of options and the best reliability. I ordered it one month ago, just have to be patient...
Congratulations on your new Lexus, hopefully the wait won't be too long.
Owned a NX 450h+ since last May, and love how 90% of the time it drives like a near silent EV. It's great to drive past crowded EV chargers when on summer road trips, yet not care a bit about rising prices at the pump. Been to the gas station 3 times over 8 months. The digital rear view mirror means I can load luggage up to the top if needed without blocking real view, which makes the trunk size just fine for a family of 4.. I had an RDX previously & the only advantage of SHAWD is under throttle at turn exit. During turn in under breaking and mid corner, there is no advantage for SHAWD over the NX. I don't miss the engine noise & fuel consumption of RDX.
I have the NX too and I love how I can consistently get MPG ratings above the advertised 39/41! The lane keeping feature when adaptive cruise control is on is also so much better than any other car I have tried. I rented a Subaru one time and the adaptive cruise control was basically playing pinball in the lane with me and it was sickening
Lexus and it's poor cousin sister TOYOTA are the front runners. Volvo is not swedish and should be avoided like the Black Plaque which killed so many in Europe awhile back
GoDaddy, which would Danica Patrick pick. I assume the Lexus
I really enjoy your video's, you and Zack do a great job. You know your stuff and have great perspectives. I respect your opinions. As for the cars I have not driven them but I did drive the Lincoln Corsair PHEV and it was fabulous. 30ish miles on all electric and a sweet 2.5 hybrid gets mid 30's mpg. Even has a spare tire and with the new IRS tables (making it a SUV ie $80K cap) it could qualify for the rebate in the US. Certainly worth a look. I know Zack loves the Lincoln poshness too. Keep up the good work - I will keep watching.
I picked the NX 350h. Ordered and just waiting for delivery ... many, many months from now. 😢
The lexus wins it for me too both. Looks superbly lined and profiled out of the 5 SUV's summarised.
Thanks for sharing!
Rebadge Toyota knock yourself out.
One thing to mention; The RDX is commanding a market adjustment of $2500. Plus dealers in Calgary are adding required 'protection packages' for thousands more. No thank you.
Ultimately we put a deposit on a Lexus NX350h. No 'market adjustment' or required protection packages. Plus the dealer experience is much more pleasant.
I've always been a Honda guy. Not any longer. A shameful fall from grace.
Same experience in Calgary, absolutely ridiculous.
what was the reason for the volvo to be not in the top5? I am biased coz I love that vehicle.
I agree! I have always loved the look of the XC60 and I think it has the best looking interior of the lot (well, maybe except for the Genesis)
The thing about the Acura RDX is that when it came out, it really could have been considered a midsize SUV. With price and options, it really beat out many midsize crossovers.
But the thing I have always hated is that "cloaked-alien" look of the center console, which you have to ruffle the bottom of the "cloak" in order to even do anything with it. Otherwise, all around, I would say it is the best value of all compact to mid-sized 2 row SUVs!
The controls on that center stack remind me of a boombox I had in the 90s...
Yea, the dash got it quickly eliminated when we were looking. A shame because we really wanted to like it.
Agreed. Would've bought it in a heartbeat if they redesigned the center stack and screen.
The RDX changed significantly in 2019 with that horrendous infotainment centre that looks like they stuck an iPad on the dash (almost all other vehicles did the same thing - what an aesthetic mistake) and the 4 cylinder turbocharged engine. I had an older MDX and wanted to downsize to the RDX. I was aware that 2019 would bring a change so I patiently waited for it to become available. I excitedly went to the Acura showroom, took one look at the 2019 and immediately bought the 2018 RDX Elite - V6… beautiful smooth flowing dashboard… I’m really glad I did!
That dashboard is a real problem. Frustrating that the Acura folks haven’t figured that out.
My husband has a 2019 Q5. I’ve never seen him love a car like he loves his Q5.
Just got a 2023 X3 M Sport and LOVE it.. The handling is amazing and I love to hear the engine roar… It is a quite ride, has great get up and go, the ability to customize the different modes (I only use the sport and comfort modes)is awesome and the personalization for each key for the driver profile set up is so nice… It is my first high end car and I always wanted an Audi… However, after driving each it was the driving experience that sold me with the BMW. This is definitely a SWEET car and you won’t be disappointed - except for the higher car payment, but as they say you get what you pay for!!!
As an owner of the GV70 you get used to the 2 dial system quickly. It works fantastic. No fingerprints on my screen. For the money a few things are missing from the top model. No ventilated rear seats and the shades for the rear window are not powered. I'm being very nit picky. 10k miles in and I am so happy with the vehicle.
Still going well with the GV 70? No concerns with reliability? I am torn between the GV 70 and the X3. Both drive great but the GV70 felt better overall. I am a little concerned that they haven’t been around that long, as opposed to BMW.
@@JS-xn3dq I love it. No issues yet. But in all honesty I'm a low mileage driver and the car is still less than a year old with about 6 thousand miles.
@@JS-xn3dq I'm in the same boat as you. My philosophy is if it's a lease, then BMW/Mercedes/Audi is the way to go. However, I will drive my vehicles for 8~10+ years so for routine maintenance and reliability, I would have to think the Genesis will be a better value. I like the X3, but I'll probably be going Genesis.. willing to give them a try.. Test drove it and was REALLY impressed.. Tough decision..
I would agree with your list and I bought the GV70 2.5 T Prestige. LOVE IT!!!!!!
Congratulations, great SUV!
@@andreaspencer9813 let’s see if it’s still around in 10yrs.
1: Genesis 2: BMW 3: Lexus 4: Audi 5: Acura
NX is my choice and was lucky to get hold of 450h+. Much better than previous gen NX and I see why you have it on the top 5. You can't beat only going to the gas station 4 times a year and paying $300 of gas at most for the year. No range anxiety and just works great for working at home.
@motormouth seems like spam eh?
Volvo XC60 for value elegant finish performance equipment packages…price point
Ditto ...
My pick is the Audi Q5. It really strikes the best balance. I also think it looks great.
It's just a Tiguan with a luxury price tag
My top picks (with some ex equos):
7. Acura RDX (good for value only, surpassed on everything else)
5. Volvo XC60
5. Mercedes GLC (old design)
3. Genesis GV70 (trims combination issues to get what I would like)
3. Lexus NX
1. BMW X3 (would be the best choice if it was not for those rabbits' ears at the back)
1. Audi Q5 (would be first if they kept the MMI rotating knob and the touch screen)
Sounds about right however be careful with a rebadged Hyundai (Genesis).
I vibe well with your picks. I had a 2019 RDX ASpec and loved it. Right now though, I don't need anything as pricey so I'm going with a 2023 Kia Sportage Hybrid. I like value.
Acura hands down.. perfect blend of luxury, reliability and affordable maintenance/insurance.
The RDX and the Lexus is the safest bet for reliability & resale value
@@naveenthemachine out of 🚸 for the day,? Naveen driving his moms machine! 240hp hybrid....economy drivetrain lol
I'm STILL WAITING for my NX350H
If I had to pick a premium/luxury D-SUV, I'd go for the Porsche Macan.
Way too small
@@MarkR973 I don’t really care.
@@DaveDVideoMaker neither do I douche
If you consider just the driving dynamics, I agree. But it’s such a compromise for the intended purpose of an SUV. It has very limited rear seat space and very limited cargo space. It’s insanely expensive and fuel economy isn’t very good at all. The X3 M40i seems like a better overall vehicle. It’s close on performance but doesn’t sacrifice in so many other areas.
Agreed on the Macan. I have a 2022 GTS as my daily driver and love it. I regularly carpool with passengers with no complaints and cargo space is adequate for most purposes. But the drive!!❤
Thanks you for your great video. I usually don’t like Lexus but 2023 RX350H is the best option all of them. We just bought luxury trim and love it. We traded 2016 bmw X5.
Great pick I really like the RX as well.
Why not keep the X5?
@@loveydovey4u No need extra car, we have also Rivian R1S
I went with the XC60 T8 Recharge. Living in the city, the great electric range, safety features, and all-out power sold me. I’d suggest that it’s a far superior choice given its long list of features.
True my dad has an xc40 and it’s way better than the Germans
Hope you have better luck with that T8 than we did. Have owned 3 Volvos since 2018. The T8 stranded us twice, both times 60-80 miles from nearest dealership. That mean a long flat bed tow, and huge inconvenience. The Inverter for hybrid system was replaced the first time, the second was the entire E transmission - a known trouble area with these it seems - found out after we bought. The shop took 4-5 weeks each time for a fix, no technicians trained to work on the Hybrids. As soon as it emerged from the shop on 2nd visit in 3 months, it was traded on a Lexus RX350. We loved the road trips when it was running well, having over 40K miles in 4 years. But when you cannot trust it, you change. Good luck...
I would buy the lexus 350, don't like that it doesn't have a full digital dash, but it is reliable. Can't buy the Rdx, hate the track pad but love Honda .
Great summary! I looked at all these looking for the best luxury ride, quiet cabin, luxury feel and best tech. That was the GV70 2.5T Prestige for me. Best power for the price, amazing interior, best tech in my opinion...that screen is amazing! The 19" wheels give it a much superior ride to the 3.5T model with 21" wheels...and beats all the others on this list...again, in my opinion. And I could get it in only 3 months, which is hard to do these days!
You won't be unhappy. I have the 2022 Sport Prestige since September 2021 and love it!
Came to the exact same conclusion and bought the exact same vehicle, mine is white with the Ultramarine Blue interior
Gas mileage hurts though
@@ryansimpson7140 Not for the 2.5T so far. I went from about 9.2 L/100 KM in my Optima to about 10.1 in the GV70 so about what I would expect going from a sedan to an SUV. Or 26 MPG to 23 MPG in my daily commute. On highway trips, I get about 28+ MPG. Seems about right.
Agreed, Genesis for the Win!
I like the volvo, safe (average reliability,) luxurious and it just stands out! something about a volvo!
I love my RDX and almost everything about it but dislike the track pad. Drove the Q5 a couple weeks ago and really appreciated how it handled and the audio system was quite nice. Not sure how the service on the Audi will be compared to the Acura. Pretty sure it will be more expensive. I dunno...
XC60 my first Volvo and Love It!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ditto ... 👍
I may sound unfair being an Audi driver, I will choose the Audi SQ5. Other than the fact it is packaged and financially sound, because it have a LARGE community support from forums and affordable aftermarket parts AND performance bolt-ons available, lastly it is a DIY friendly vehicle.
Aaaaww My heart felt sad you didn’t pick Porsche Macan. It’s a great design in both inside and outside. But you guys made good choices. I like Q5 for the exterior design but not interior. NX has an interesting dashboard. I really like Volvo better. Great video Andrea!! 👍🏻👍🏻
The Macan is in its own class
WHERE IS MY BELOVED V o l v o ?????
I like the Genesis interior. However l don’t think is a car that have a good reliable rate.
Thus far if lm not a V o l v o fan…ld buy the Lexus. However l really don’t like the Lexus SUV.
But that insane reliability is something l cannot dismiss.
I vote for both the Macan and the XC60 T8 ER in the top five... (for me, the top two)
Honda Canada pricing is Nuts.
If you haven’t done the Canadian to US dollar exchange rate Canada will be quite high. Right now a US dollar is around .75 per Canadian.
@@boscokid9524yeah. CAD just has poorer buying power. Euro is best now with 10% gain over USD.
I m buying Honda any more, poor security system
Acura Canada has limited trims in all lines not just RDX. I wish they would at least offer the MDX and RDX Tech. These are both great buys.
The Lincoln Corsair should have been on your list. It's a great, luxury-filled vehicle
The trend of laptop style screen has got to go. Looks so cheap and out of place. Integrate that sucker into the dash!
I am with you on that, it looks awful. Like they made the car and suddenrealized they forgot a screen and slap on in the middle of the dash. One reason we bought a xc60 with its nicely integrated screen.
Agree!
My Chevy Bolt has dash integrated screen, also Malibu I rented this week.
I am surprised that you didn’t include the Lincoln Corsair in your lists. You did a good review a while back and they made some improvements like Sync4 this year. It is a better choice than some of the others and was number 3 in this segment sales. 👍
This is a superior vehicle to most of the choices that they included. Great looks inside and out. Odd that they omitted it.
The Corsair would be my choice. The vast number of interior choices and the larger infotainment screen have really improved it. The Jet package really gives it aa dramatic look. I just wish they'd kept the 2.3.
We had an RDX and liked the driving dynamics and room but absolutely hated the infotainment. Had it replaced once and had 3 recalls. It rarely worked with CarPlay and was a real distraction to drive. Also, it is very thirsty around town, so much that we have done our penance and bought an Audi etron, which we love.
I agree the Genesis 2.5T is a great value, however it needs a three spoke steering wheel to complete the look! It would also be great to have more wheel options like the German vehicles.
Exactly.....I didn't see any wheel options....
The prestige 2.5 is 3spoke I believe.
@@928gts thanks, that is correct. It would be great if all the trim levels had the three spoke wheel.
Lexus or Audi for sure for me !! pricing is pretty close on a lot of models guess it just comes down to personal preference at the end the day ……fantastic video as always 👍🏻👍🏻
Thank you, glad you enjoyed the video!
I have nx450h+ basic model ..
Fantastic and detailed video! Would definitely be curious to know your non-luxury hybrid compact SUV picks too!
I truly appreciate the review you both do. I do ask about the Lexus RX350 and why you chose the NX over the RX and why? I assume that this is due to the RX being technically a "midsize"
I just bought NX350h luxury package. I don't really need the extra space and it has the best tech out of all them. Also great fuel economy. I cant be happier.
Happy to hear you are enjoying your new Lexus NX hybrid, thanks for sharing!
Wondering why you never mention the Lincoln corsair plug-in in your compact to buy cars?
That vehicle never comes up in conversation.
Presentation is often just as important as substance, and you both are pros in this manner. A former Vancouverite now hangin out in Phoenix I just traded in my 2011 Infiniti G37 hard top convertible which was too much fun and upgraded to a 2019 Porsche Cayenne base model with many upgraded options and only 37kmi. I also drive a 2018 Toyota Highlander which is an excellent comfort ride, but the Cayenne is a quality performance ride. Until you drive a Cayenne you don't really understand the build quality, ride performance and overall experience of this car. All of these cars would be good choices, but I just needed to test the Porsche waters so hopefully will not be disappointed in the long term.
So Andrea and Zak, which is YOUR favourite of ALL of the options you’ve given?
I’m voting for the underdog, the newcomer, the one with the strongest emphasis on me… the driver … the Genesis. (Note: ‘luxury experience’. What I see, feel and touch. not ‘driving experience’ … that’d be the M40i or the Alfa … obviously). Thanks for the video.
I did the same!
I drove all of these. I chose the GV70. It was the only one that "wowed" me when I sat inside. Was waiting for the new GLC, but it's just been taking too long. So far, I'm very pleased.
Which engine?
Same here...2.5T Prestige. Best interior, best technology, best luxury ride. Not sure why there are always haters and trolls calling it "just a Hyundai"...how many of these lists and SUV of the year awards it needs to win before those go away.
@@dalehuhtala9285 Agreed, I had test driven the G70 a few years ago and thought that it was a very solid product.
@Billy Rock well, time will tell. I've heard a few bad things about Mercedes lately, so I'm sure I'll be fine.
@@silviu3172 I went with the 2.5 Prestige. Enough engine for me.
Lexus NX350h is my pick.😀
I love my X3 M40i , especially B58TU❤
Great choice!
Great job guys. Always a pleasure watching your car reviews. Keep it going👏
The only video I needed!!
The American auto makers fail to make the list, which is a shame. Cadillac has gone cheap but the Lincoln Corsair offers more a quiet comfortable ride that should have been shared over the same old Audi or BMW
I tested them all and bought the Genesis GV70 2.5T Prestige. I love the outside design and the interior is gorgeous. It's also quite powerful and the cabin is really quiet. Cant wait to receive it
You won't be unhappy. I have the 2022 Sport Prestige since September 2021 and love it!
@@half9721 glad to ear and congrats for your purchase. Can't wait to receive it
You will love it, I have had the exact same car for 16 months. NO regrets here at all.
Nice! I'm partial towards the German brands...but test drove the Genesis GV70 and was blown away. The base 4cyl at 300hp is impressive...and has that goldilocks ride (not as firm as BMW and not overly soft like Mercedes). Deciding between BMW X3 and the Genny and leaning towards the GV70... the Exterior/Interior and warranty and unbeatable in this class imo
@alex99398 the BMW X3 is also a fantastic car. I prefer a bit more the way it drives but the overall package offered by the GV70 is hard to beat. I'm sure you'll be satisfied because they're both amazing cars
Can I have the commentCould you possibly tell me I live in Ireland and I would love to know is Mercedes responsible if the front tires go bald in a very short time less than two years and my front tires have gone bald there’s only 22 km on my clock I’d appreciate it if you could help me
Nice review. When will anyone start calling out these crazy market adjustments that are being put on top of the MSRPs on these automobiles?
I purchased a 2023 Q5 55 TFSI e about a month ago. Not as much torque as my Mach-E but still fun to drive in dynamic mode. Glad Audi offers a PHEV SUV.
Does the gv70 have a heads up display and does it have a full digital display the 4 cylinder?
The Volvo XC60 is my pick. Probably the smoothest and quietest and most comfortable luxury SUV I've ever been in. And it has better safety ratings than everything else here.
the new T8 ER is good; other versions are not because the drivetrain sucks... And the infotainment system in Volvos has sucked for many years now...
It legit feels like a tank!!! A different type of safe!
I am surprised that the Infiniti QX50 was not on the list, I would pick that over the Acura
I must be crazy. I think the interior and exterior of the Mazda CX-50 look better than most of these. I just don't like the plastic moldings on the wheel arches.
true
Now that y'all have reviewed it, I wonder if the 2023/2024 Mercedes GLC would make this list...
Easy choice for me. The NX450h+. Fantastic vehicle.
I realize that you guys probably avoided the issue of looks, because it is subjective. But that Lexus is just hideous. They would be much more dominant in the market if they would change their design language. Most of their vehicles suffer from this assault on the eyes.
That grill has to go.
@@vebo6380 The unnecessarily origami-'esque' bodies that overshoot the track width is another dubious element of the current Toyota/Lexus design language that needs to go. Maybe the people doing the suspensions could talk to the bodywork designers?
Hi motormouth , it surprising Genesis beets Volvo,Porsche, Mercedes and Alfa Romeo. Also I believe that you should place each vehicle from best to worse of your top 5.
Having driven quite a few of these I have to say the X3 M40i is the most rewarding driving experience. If you love hearing the roar of the engine, love feeling feedback through the steering wheel, and in general love an active driving experience there is no other car that comes close. Even the ZF transmission seems to telepathically sense when you want to shift. It's a rip-roarin' fun time when you put it into Sport+ and a very sedate daily driver when you put it back into comfort mode. As an added bonus when you put it into EcoPro you could even teach your kids how to drive in it.
Agree 100%!
I would hope the drive is exceptional on the BMW x340 given the price tag.
Great vehicle
@@ianandrews5988 it’s actually not that much compared to its competition like the Macan S.
Love my 2020 M40i. It is truly like owning 3 or 4 different cars depending on the drive mode you use!
GV70 hands down.
Lexus NX “whichever” is easily the most contemporary looking of this class: exterior and interior. All of the others look very much dated already: boxy outsides and horrible looking MFD integration. Lexus technology in operates the latest/greatest and out classes even top luxury cars in their Lexus 3.0. The interior materials though leave a lot to be desired. I agree: needs more luxury inside.
Lexus leaves a lot to be desired in terms of luxury and performance. However, it’s got reliability going for it, which the Germans can’t touch. If you’re keeping the vehicle long term, the Lexus is a great choice.
Great review! But why not the Lincoln Corsair? I am currently driving a a 2000 Audi SQ5. One of our last cars was the Lincoln MKC and it out performed the Audi in almost every category. Minus handling of course.
I finally gave in and went to my local Genesis dealer to take a look at the GV70, but I was treated so poorly by the car salesman, it is officially off my list. Customer service is a big part of it for me, which is why I will not be getting another Audi. Next for me is ether the Lincoln or the Volvo, maybe the Mercedes if it is out in time.
Get the volvo! Classy!
I have a XC70 Volvo, my third one. My dealership is the best. 20 years or more with them. That is why it is hard to look at another mfg.
I'd love to see how some of the top trim non-luxury brands compete. Hyundai Tucson Hybrid Limited, Santa Fe Limited, CX50 TPP, RAV4 Prime, etc...
Had an X3 rental a few weeks back, first BMW I’ve ever driven. Other than the cheap interior that pails in comparison to my 20k Mazda3, it was a great vehicle. Stellar powertrain, great ride quality and interior space. Loved the way it drove, but that interior needs some love.
think we choose x3 or rdx because of extra space
interesting thing is I drove all of them including the honorable mentions and chose the GV70. That is the proper all rounder for sure
@@billyrock8305 you are just a Hyundai hating troll. Get lost!
@@billyrock8305 its my money, i'll take my chances. thank you.
I know I am reaching, but the Hyundai Santa Fe Calligraphy 2.5T is a lot of vehicle for the money.
Where the value of the Genesis models suffer is in the lease programs. Resale value hurts and you pay more per month with other comparibly priced competition.
GV70 all the way. Awesome vehicle and feature for the price.
It’s a Hyundai but knock yourself out.
I think that I would pick the Lexus NX. My grandparents have a 2015 Lexus RX and a 2008 Lexus ES and they drive beautifully, so I would buy the new Lexus NX.
but its just a rav4
@@Quinton0520 no it’s not hater first experience it one and then talk smh
@@Quinton0520, and Audi and Porsche are VW‘s 🤦♂️
I love my volvo inscrption!inscription!!
What car are you sitting in for this video? Thanks
We were told the 2023 GV70 has wireless CarPlay at the dealership. We love our X3, but I’m wanting something new ! Looking at the 2023 GLE
Not true, but a $80-100 adapter takes care of that. Not a deal breaker by any means.
@@dalehuhtala9285 That's good to know, wireless CarPlay is better
I'd venture to say that if you're looking at compact luxury SUVs, you're probably only so concerned about value.
I vote for the Porsche Macan GTS - I just love the overall power and handling and of course the PDK transmission is just amazing.
I agree, the Macan GTS is the one to have but near impossible to get. Another great option is the Macan S which has the same engine, can be optioned with the same air-suspension & still save a bundle, something to consider.
As an owner of a 2022 Macan GTS I like the power and how the car can transform from in town ‘Normal’ mode to canyon racer in ‘Sport +’. It’s a driver’s sport luxury SUV. If you’re bias is luxury SUV and not too interested in acceleration, handling and braking performance, then get the Macan copy cat GV70.
Macan GTS easily the best overall. Not the most powerful but it makes up for it all other departments. Ask me which one I would be happy to own 5 years down the road and the GTS swill age like fine wine compared to these other vehicles.
I love my Macan S! Porsche has a way of using every single HP to get max performance! The handling, braking and steering is also unreal.
We pick all high class vehicles. I bought a CX5 Mazda. It is wonderful paid total 38000. First class loaded. 2.5 turbo.
Well, I went for the Stelvio Veloce almost two years ago with an upper trim (adaptive suspension, slip diff, full real leather interior, level 2 autonomous driving, etc.)
They're about to start selling the Stelvio with a small facelift (digital dash and new LED headlights that look great, but I still have to decide which headlights design I prefer).
If I were to pick one now, I would definitely look into the new Maserati Grecale (same platform as the Stelvio - but even bigger), but its price tag would probably bring me back again to the Stelvio.
Still makes me smile every single day I drive it. What a pleasant, fun car to drive!
How do you find the interior space in general and rear legroom?
@@lincolnm267 I’m 190cm tall (over 6.2”) and I fit ok behind my own seat position.
Behind myself It’s not roomy, but it’s perfectly ok even for traveling. The rear seat has a higher seating position. On one hand, makes the roof closer to our head, on the other helps with a more comfortable angle for the legs.
I’ve already made some longer trips, two of them over 1000Km 620+ miles) and the car is very comfortable for trips. The autonomous driving also helped making them feel easy.
A fifth passenger in the center rear seat might not be suitable for long trips. Never tried it though.
Because of its exterior kind of sporty lines, the Stelvio seems smaller than it’s competitors, but it isn’t. It’s even slightly wider than most.
@@lincolnm267 …but I must add - if that’s important to you, that the interior doesn’t offer many options for storage.
…the trunk or boot is perfectly ok with 525Lts capacity which is 4% less than a Q5 or a GLC, but the same as a X3i, X4, GLC Coupe, or 5% more than a Macan or a Volvo XC60.
Nice SUV the only issue in the US is the unavailable 20 inch Continental Eco Contact 6Q tires. Two flats one repairable. Dealer removed one from a new SUV. Mercedes Corp still terrible in reference to.a resolution on these tires. Ordered a AWD but they put on Summer tires that are not sold in the US. Will be filing a law suit within the year. Mercedes customer service is still horrible in my opinion. My next SUV will be a Lexus!!!!!
