      Finally getting an SDI cam in the studio next week. Might be a fun test to run on it!

    Super neat monitor. It's great that it has options for the battery source especially for those longer shot days. I think the only thing holding it back for me is the controls for the settings, I prefer dedicated buttons that I can click for specific settings. Great video Garrett, keep it up!

      Thanks! Yah the joystick takes some getting used to, but having 4 dedicated “windows” make navigating them fairly easy. I’m used to the SmallHD 702/703 and it works the same way.

      @@garrettsammons, thanks for this review. How would you compare this monitor to the SmallHD 702/703? I like that the false colors seem to be the same format as SmallHD (not like the strange variations of Black Magic or Atomos). And I prefer that it's not a touchscreen. But for a fraction of the cost, I'm trying to figure out what the catch is? What would you say are the disadvantages compared to SmallHD?

    • @garrettsammons
      @garrettsammons  Рік тому

      I’d say the build quality isn’t quite as high as the 703. Also, the Page OS SmallHD is doing is second to none. The UI on this one isn’t as intuitive, but outside of that… this is such a solid option.

    Great review! It’s a very tempting monitor! I‘m just left with one question: does it habe a fan that‘s audible?

    • @garrettsammons
      @garrettsammons  4 роки тому +1

      It makes no audible sound that I’ve ever heard. I use this monitor in the studio for every video I make and have never once heard it. 🤙

    Just got this monitor and the top and bottom screw mounts get extremely hot! I can't even touch it. Do you also have this experience?

    Good video bro but OMG you always show the cool stuff all the stuff you show I wish I could afford I really need a new monitor.I bet the flash drive can also be used for firmware updates.

    • @garrettsammons
      @garrettsammons  4 роки тому

      There isn’t a USB port on this monitor, so I don’t think that would work. The only media port is the SD card slot on the side. Monitors are a fantastic addition to a rig because they aren’t camera specific. I have monitors that have outlived several camera bodies and are still going strong.

    Is there 9x16 and 4x5 aspect ratios so I can have an overlay for social media crops

      @garrettsammons  2 роки тому +1

      Yes, there’s an option to set custom crop values as well to create for any deliverable you’d like.

    Isn't Swit and Osee the same company and Monitor and why is it 100.00 more in BH over Amazon if that be true?

    • @garrettsammons
      @garrettsammons  2 роки тому +1

      There is definitely some overlap in their product lines. I'm not sure if they're the same company or if they source from the same manufacturer. Either way, I don't think there's much of a difference in this monitor between the two.

    Great review, whats is your opinion on the screen/images quality vs a Ninja V or Showgun 7?

    • @garrettsammons
      @garrettsammons  4 роки тому

      The shogun 7 and this SWIT have the same screen brightness and resolution. The shogun is SDI only, while you can get the SWIT in either SDI&HDMI, or HDMI only. The Shogun is also a recorder, while the SWIT is only a monitor. So there’s really no one winner here. It depends on the needs you have as a shooter. The Ninja V is smaller and not as bright. Also a recorder, but only has HDMI with no SDI option.

    • @graemedobie5435
      @graemedobie5435 4 роки тому

      @@garrettsammons Wow thanks for the quick response. I have the Ninja V and love the images and colour accuracy. But I want a bright 7" monitor with the same image quality. The Showgun is just too big and I dont need external recording

    • @garrettsammons
      @garrettsammons  4 роки тому +1

      The SWIT is a 7” monitor, the same approximate size as the Shogun. The difference between the two mostly comes to depth. Because the SWIT isn’t a recorder, it’s much more slim. But it’s still a 7” monitor while the Ninja V is a 5”.

      Unfortunately, due to quarantine I’m working alone. To give you an idea of just how bright it is, in the overhead shot the brightness is turned all the way down to as dim as possible. In the head on shot, it’s set to 3-5 out of 10. I’m lit with two Aputure 300Ds both set to 60%. It’s insanely bright when you crank it all the way up!

      @@garrettsammons been looking for a LCD for drone piloting, and as with most things that aren't easy to test, or the normal person doesn't have access to, they often get exaggerated, ie lumens, nits, response rate, things like that, so it usually leaves me skeptical. I appreciate your response.

      I hear you man. Lots of folks don’t even know what to look for when they are reviewing products. I have 6 or 7 field monitors from about every reputable manufacturer I know of and this is definitely the brightest I’ve ever seen. Don’t know if it’s a true 3000nit monitor, but it’s noticeably brighter than my 2,200nit one. I’d say it’s pretty accurate brightness wise.
