I have the 5” version and I find the best feature is the tally light!!!! It doesn’t show up as red on my monitor but it creates a white box along the border to show that it’s recording and all touch screen/ camera control glory aside, KNOWING that I’m recording from my monitor is so clutch.
I have this monitor and one of the tings that stood out for me was the fan noise. Though not as loud as the Atomos Ninja, it is there. Another thing, and this might just be my version, but touch focus needs to be initiated on the Sony camera first before it becomes active on the monitor itself.
I've reviewed this monitor and found the menu to be quite perplexing and unintuitive. It's noteworthy that you also pointed out this aspect. On the flip side, I'm genuinely impressed by the ample screen real estate it provides, which is certainly a strong advantage.
Thanks for saying this. I tested it to and found the menu to be so bad that its a dealbreaker for me. I cant understand how so many youtubers like it or dont mention it. If they had a good OS i would defenitely buy this monitor.
I'm currently in the market for a new monitor and I'm between this and the M1 Mars. Although mars also has a terrible interface, it has a built in wireless transceiver that allows phones and tablets to also view the camera so clients and collaborators can also see what the camera is seeing via a downloaded app. However, being able to control my Sony camera from the monitor would also be amazing. Urgh!
have u noticed any audio interference caused by connecting to the monitor through wifi ? on my sony a7iv, ive tried to use the Imagining edge app for remote shooting, in order to do so I would connect my phone or ipad to my cameras wifi. but when i do this, it introduces audio interference.
No latency in image transmission or anything. There’s just a very slight lag when tapping things on the screen. This is true of everything though (not just Wi-Fi mode)
i need help! my lh7p show light reading capped at 70+ ire on all luma/rgb waveform & zebra when i point the camera towards bright light. This changed when i turn off pp8 and use neutral color profile . but still it capped at 90+ ire. when shooting in pp8 i had to set my zebra high to 79 ire to make it show the peaking color for highlights. if i set it over than 79 the peak color totally dissappear. im using the monitor with sony a7iv
Hello, i have purchased this monitor. Is there any reason my monitor is displayed the full 7 inch display? It’s only showing the camera display view from the camera it’s, in the center of the monitor with black edges around it. Any suggestions?
If I have a Canon EOS R10 could the monitor still be used on it at all or just the wireless feature controls can't be used. Ultimately, I like the crop guide to film horizontally with vertical guides for the 9x16. If it can't work with a Canon EOS R10 what other 7-inch external monitor would you recommend with crop guides?

Great video. I’ve purchased 3 monitors and I hate them because I don’t have full features of my fx30. I’ll try this one. Let me know if you still recommend this one.
I just bought the viltrox dc 550 pro and I was quite annoyed that I couldn’t touch focus my subject I want a monitor that has all the touch function and I don’t mind paying more!
Hi friend, some of our monitors can control some functions of FX6, but I am sorry that our monitors now can't touch focus with FX6. But the technicians have received many feedbacks about FX6. Probably they will release new firmware to achieve what you want. Hope you can pay attention to our products in the future~@@stephen_hughes

Anyone try the camera control on Sony A6700? Not among the supported models listed by Portkeys, but it’s very similar to others that do like the FX30. Already have a Ninja but want a second monitor so my subject (wife) can see the videos in real time. I’d use the 7” on a magic arm for that, but if it can control the camera will relegate that duty to the 5” Ninja and use the 7” for the photographer/me.
The labyrinth comment reminded me of the onion video “Sony piece of shit” 😂😂😂 “ if you can claw and tooth your way through the packaging you are presented with a labyrinthian maze of erroneous menu options of used to fucking no one” 😂😂😂😂
Thanks for the Infos really impressive. I am afraid that the nits aren’t enough and in the past i had issues with andycine and feelwrold (2000nits) the screen outdoors with sun it’s mirroring and I can’t see almost nothing. Have you tested it outdoors with sun?
There’s instructions on their UA-cam channel. The camera screen is in Chinese in the video, which makes it a little tough to follow. But only have to do it once
UI is bad,,, took a lot to get connected to camera wifi,,,,, and I wish the sides and bottom menu banners would disappear ,, after using touch to focus,,,,,, its like a 5 inch screen at that point.
It's it fully wireless like no wires at all don't want to waste my money when there is better out there with wires was just buying this because I don't want any wires on the gimbal please let me know thanks
@@kylemeshna ok thanks man so it's not fully wireless like they claim thanks going to buy something else like the Desview R6 Camera Field Monitor, 5.5 inch 2800nits Ultra High Brightness Full HD 1920x1080 IPS
All the manufacturers of these add-on monitors are missing one important thing, they don't have the full functionality of the camera's touchscreen LCD. Technically it is possible. The mfgrs are creating superfluous add-ons to add value to THEIR version of a dumb monitor. We see apps like Monitor+ which do ALMOST everything using a PHONE or tablet. Why are we being asked to spend $300+ on a $30 LCD. Sony should come out with an inexpensive FULL FUNCTION external camera monitor. Their current monitor is a joke at $698 !! Just build a monitor that functions as a remote of the on-camera LCD. It will sell like hot cakes as Lisa said to Oliver. Until that happens I am NOT spending $300+ on a $30 LCD display.

After using it I would describe it as pretty much useless for users of S-log3, since rather than displaying the actual ISO, it just says "AUTO" rather than giving a numeric value: due to this when the ISO clips below 640, you are completely unaware of it, unless you're staring at the smaller monitor, which completely removes the purpose of this monitor if you're constantly having to check your camera's monitor, especially outdoors. I'm saying unless this problem is fixed in a firmware update its a 100% waste for 10-bit Slog3 users.
i'm not sure i'm understanding this correctly... are you saying this happens when using auto-iso? why would it "clip below 640" if you weren't using auto iso
Camera monitors boring? Are they supposed to be fun? How can a monitor be fun? The idea is that they fulfill their function well and that's it. That sounds like a comment from an 8 year old.

Yeah this one has the red tally box around the whole screen when recording. Super clutch
The fan is offensively loud

The setup to get the touch / Wi-Fi working is… cumbersome
got something against the ZV-E1? when you put the tilta cage/fan on it its basically a fx3 (minus the second sd slot and fullsized hdmi port)
I’ve recently got the ZV-E1 and I absolutely love it!
I mean def a few more limitations than you’re leading on compared to an fx3, but sure it’s a great cam for the buck for sure

Great review, so this one will not work with Canon?
It can work with Canon camera models~
Thanks for review. And how about focusing? Is this monitor good / sharp / etc enough to manual focusing. Is focus peaking exact?
I am also very curious about this.
Does the HDMI output include the lut? or does it bypass it and only ouput log?

Hi, you can turn off the HDMI info display of your camera
Does this monitor work for canon r5c
Hi
What Bluetooth camera control range in feet would this camera have?
Have you tested that yet?
In the absence of any obstacles, it should work within approximately seven meters.

I use Kondor Blue cables
