Great video! One of the best features of this monitor is the ability to apply a LUT to the HDMI out. I bought the monitor to use with my Nikon Z8, so I could monitor with a LUT, and send out the LUT applied HDMI signal out to wireless transmitter for client to see on set on their monitor. Unfortunately, the first day I went to use it on set, suddenly the HDMI out did not function at all, black image, so I had to return the unit. Not sure if it was my unit, or if the overall reliability of Portkeys monitors are poor.
@@NOlimitsON maybe I’ll buy a new one. I noticed you are running the new firmware. When connecting a second monitor to the HDMI out of the portkeys, does it display the camera control info like shutter speed and iso on the second monitor? Thanks.
Dear customer, could you tell me whether LH7P HDMI OUT is not providing a signal to other devices? I am sorry that I have not received any feedback like that for the LH7P yet.
Great review! @PortkeysMonitor Is there a way, or a future plan, to have the white tracking square be visable on the Portkeys monitor? Very important for subject/eye tracking to know when it strays even slightly because, for me, that's a dealbreaker unfortunately.
We've noticed that many customers have expressed a similar request regarding the visibility of the tracking square on our monitor. Rest assured that your suggestion has been conveyed to our engineering team for their consideration. Whether or not this feature will be incorporated into future firmware updates is subject to our team's development timeline and priorities.
@@PortkeysMonitor All of my colleagues agree that the white tracking square is super important and we all own at least one Portkeys LHP monitor each. I have this one arriving on Thursday and, much as I feel lucky to have the ability to touch focus I wish, wish, wish I knew when the tracking was going astray. White Square please PortkeysGang!
sigh, from the advertising it looked like there was a confirmation white box on the monitor, if not it's a real deal breaker since I have to continuosly check the camera monitor to see focus drifts
For camera control my A7C ii is not on the supported list. Contacted portkeys support and they said only can control "some" functions and it looks like I can't do track to focus. Are there other monitors with touch to focus that you know of that doesn't overheat shut off like many of the Ninja monitors? I currently use the 5" Neewer F500. No camera control and feels a little small. 7" feels like a better size
@@Q8Webmaster portkeys said they would email me to notify me if they add support. I still heard nothing. Atomos added touch to focus with their new 5.2" Shinobi II monitor. But the 3.6 out of 5 rating plus the 5.2" really gives confidence in that purchase 😂.
Great review! Quick question. When using a transmitter/reciever, do you know how long the range is for the camera controls? I mean, can you sit a few meters away from the camera, and still operate it?
Hi will this monitor automatically turn on and receive camera signal if the power source is connected to a switch (power brick)? I'm wondering if I can use it as a reference monitor in a small studio I built that is controlled/turned on with one switch.
Hi. Excellent video. I have a questio. Every time I turn off the camera OR the monitor, must I to repeat the whole WiFi conection steps? Is thera any way to skip the steps shown in the video? In other words: I would like to skip the Menu- PC connect- etc on the camera and just link the monitor chossing the camera in the monitoer. Is this possible? Thanks in advance for your response.
No, you shouldn’t reconnect each time, it works automatically. To connect for the first time you should go through all the steps in the video instruction
This may sound like a stupid question, but i have an Gamesir G8 Plus controller and i want to buy this monitor to use it with the controller, while conected to my pc via a long hdmi cable that comes by my bed and i can play PC games with no input lag on a handheld device straight from my bed, i know i know it sounds wierd, but hey thats me, a wierdo, so the question is, how many Hz does this screen have? I need someting that has at least 60Hz. This one seems perfect, it is slim, you can hide the hud, runs on dc as well, has the hdmi port on the bottom
Hi, nice video! How fast get it back to connection after switching off? Happened automatically or do I have to connect manually after switching of? Thanks for your information!

Many using this monitor complain about the fan noise if using an on camera shotgun mic. Any thoughts? Wished this reviewer had measured the noise level and discussed how correlated noise was to LCD brightness with a bit more specific examples - just sounded too much like a sales pitch. YMMV
Hello, i have purchased this monitor. Is there any reason my monitor is displayed the full 7 inch display? It’s only showing the camera display view from the camera it’s, in the center of the monitor with black edges around it. Any suggestions?
Excellent review. To the point and clear. Sony has an SDK that allows any software developer to write their own control program for Sony cameras for a monitor. It's only a matter of time before ALL monitors have camera control too. No control of the camera is one major FLAW of most monitors. Right now the few companies that have camera control are charging an absurd price for their tiny monitors. For now, I'll stick with the Monitor+ app which runs on a iPhone and Android (phone or tablet) and does everything this monitor does; without the high price! One additional thing the monitor does not do is show the recording levels...oh wait you went so fast did you show us audio meters at 11:40?..yes you did.. Does not have the focus box. ps. I think that monitor mount DOES rotate. There is an Allen screw in the center under the pivot.
Got a Samsung Tab Active 2 to use with the Monitor+ app from Google play...although it does work, even with my LG V35, but too many issues; lockup, dropped connections, balky making connections.. Going to get a dedicated monitor like the Portkeys devices...
