Woman of the hour is not about being accurate on depicting the life of a serial killer its more on the experiences women goes thru whenever they meet a man like him, be nice? end up dead, report him? didn't take her seriously, try to say the right words so not to trigger him? he'll still haunt you down... its women having to do everything just so they can be safe and alive
But at the same time women can manipulate men by accepting his phone number while saying 'thanks' to him only to report him as a 'creeper' to the HR or police. It works both ways with manipulation skills. I was manipulated by a coworker woman at work and it made me feel so humiliated, depressed, mad, very confused and stupid. All she had to say to me is that she isn't interested and I would know that it is a no and I moved on. It actually backfired on her a month later because within the company we all had a meeting about 'respect'. I told my coworker friends about what happened and I pointed the girl who reported me. "That's the girl who accepted my number and said 'thank you' to me afterwards and reported me as a 'creeper' behind my back to the HR". She was so embarrassed but it is a lesson learned from both parties. Peoples actions speak louder than their words. Her older sister worked in that company as well and she was embarrassed about what her younger sister did to me because I would talk to her before the unnecessary incident. Moral of the story, respect people and you'll be respected back without weird, unsettling and guilt consequences. Especially if the victim was mislead and knows truly your manipulation tactics. I can never reject women like that because it is humiliating on a deeper level and could cause self harm. It is not easy to approach a woman even if you knew her a bit to give her your phone number. As for me I learned to stay from manipulators men or women. Period! Even if she is using her victim card. Thank you for rejecting me. You saved me years of pain.

@Tonetare apparently Cheryl met him and felt off vibes from him instantly and didn't go out with him. So I assume we'd all feel those vibes as well. They did say that even though the movie takes place in the 70s, they wanted the answers to be more modern because 70s charm would be considered creepy by today's standards
This is creepy in a cringy way but the movie was creepy in a different way. In the movie, her blatant hostility towards the contestants was so out of left field and not believable. It was over the top. I understand maybe challenging their chauvinistic responses to fit a modern time, but she was a outright bitch to them. Then after the game, her personality goes back to normal. It was a weird choice.
I showed this video to two of my friends and asked them if they could tell which one was the serial killer. They never knew who he was but both of them picked rodney alcala. I asked them why him and they said "he is being way too charming, like i know that thats what your suppose to do on the dating game but the other two were more nervous and a little clumsy and no one is that straight forward unless they were looking for prey" Edit: the other two seem much nicer
"We're gonna have a great time together, Cheryl." Knowing what he had done to so many women he'd met previous, that greeting he gave Cheryl is so ominous.
Thank you very much. I uploaded on my channel and credited your channel. I uploaded the "Alcala scenes only" 2yrs ago and I'm getting many comments asking for the full version
She came out dressed demurely then intentionally flipped her dress up to show her legs as she was sitting down. She liked bachelor #2 after she met him. you can tell, but seemed a bit stunned by Acala. He had his hands all up on her right away. I'd like to hear the story from her point of view.
I just met Jed Mills less than a week ago. He is the guy in the middle who's gone on to be a fine actor in shows like "Seinfeld" and the movie "Casino".
Woman of the Hour was terrific and kept me clued to the television! Anna Kendrick's did a great job on focusing on the time and how straight men treated women and still do.
NETFLIX WAS AN EPIC FAIL with reenacting this scene. They made it sound like he was smooth and smart with his responses. Rather the guy sounded like an absolute knucklehead.
Agreed! Woman of the Hour was awful. How could the movie NOT include the “dirty old man” question along with his answer?? As if the real story wasn’t CRAZY enough, they made up a bunch of stuff: No contestant warned Cheryl to be careful of her chosen bachelor, there was no witness in the audience who disrupted the taping and tried to alert the producers, and the biggest one: she did NOT meet with Alcala for drinks after the taping (narrowly escaping abduction).
If you'd tell me one of them was a serial killer, and tell me to guess which one, I wouldn't know who to pick. Alcala was a very charming man, and that's what made him dangerous. He looks like just a normal human being.
“Got his start when his father found him in the dark room fully developed.” I understand that this was photography terminology but given what we know, this was beyond chilling.
Anna Kendrick brought to life a story long overdue in her latest film, Tjhe Dating Game, masterfully weaving her signature charm and depth into a character that feels both fresh and deeply relatable.
I enjoyed the film, but disagree on the false characterization of the dating game segment. Why did they change what was actually said? Did they feel like it made her character seem too much like a buffoon or less sympathetic because she asked sexual innuendo questions? And why did they make Bachelor number one in the movie seem like a buffoon who couldn't even understand a question? Bachelor number 2 in the film was vilified as a male chauvinist. If I was Jim Lang the actual host or either one of the 2 other contestants I would sue the movie producers. It seems they couldn't decide if they wanted this movie to be factual or fictional.
@@stevet7487really? Thats what you got from the movie? That they changed the question around? 😂😂 Nobody is going to sue over some dumb shit like that. Anna wasn’t that type in the movie, so why would she play into it on the show? Some people just don’t think.
@@taylorrenee4880 This was a movie about real characters. Truth matters. It wasn't "changing around" the questions. The actual questions and answers were laced with sexual innuendos. The show, which was hughly popular during the time was cheap sleezy entertainment. There was nothing slick or clever about his answers, and she didn't "clever up her questions. The blantant misreprestation of these real human beings matter to them. Neither bachelor was a The buffoon incapable of even understanding a question, and the other bachelor was no more a womanizer van Alcala was in his answers. @@stevet7487the movie is “based on” a true story but not a documentary. In this case, it was to combine the experiences of different women and demonstrate how they weren’t taken seriously at the time, which is why he managed to kill for so long in spite of many women going to the police about him.
The creepiest part is at the end when they meet! The other guys are goofy and awkward but still have their own unique personalities. He mimics everything she does, and doesn't go in for a hug but rather, grasps her hand like they're dancing, and kisses her without hugging. He's as stiff as a board, and shows emotional distance and a need for control. He then holds her lower back for the remainder of that time to assert dominance. She knew right away because it probably made her feel sick. I'm so glad she safely escaped his dirty banana!

The movie was terrifying. I was a teenager during the 1970s. Anna Kendrick did an amazing job of capturing the horror of Rodney Alcala and also both the innocence and ignorance of that era.
She was an independent, street-smart young woman. A survivor. Asking her attacker to keep quiet about what happened, getting him to trust her, and then running like hell to call the police was brilliant.

@lendi8472 Richard also chased down contestants to go on dates with him. It's how he met his second wife on the Family Feud. She was 23 years younger than him.
yeah I think thats the main reason she didn't go out with him. I dont think it was a "hunch" like the Netflix movie makes it seem. She just wasn't attracted to him lol (good for her)

This went down nothing like they depicted on the movie. Alcala is portrayed as a Casanova but in reality all he talks about is his banana, so classy... The other ones are just two regular guys who are obviously not sharp enough to go with the flow on live tv. They got those mysoginist personas out of the blue if you ask me.
Yes, you are right. The only reason why the actual woman in RL chose him is not because he is more intelligent or sharp; it’s because if you close your eyes and listen to this show without judgement, his voice sounds more attractive than the other two. Manlier, maybe? Sadly, many women are instinctively attracted to individuals with some degree of psychopathy in them. The first phrase he says, “We are gonna have a great time together, Sheryl”, sounds threatening (tone of voice), as if he already decided everything for her and is basically stating the inevitable.
Anna Kendrick based her whole movie on “filling in the holes” to an episode of the Dating Game she claimed no longer full existed. Yet someone taped a copy of a tv broadcast from the 90s or 2000’s. Either she’s lying or was lazy and didn’t bother doing research. The premise is also terrible one of the survivors criticized Kendrick for rewriting history and putting the spotlight on Acala. It’s disgusting that she’s profiting off the suffering of others.
What are you talking about? It's common for episodes of TV from decades ago to have been lost. So some random person taped it and it wasn't discovered until after they made the movie and that makes her a liar?

It’s a damn good thing that Cheryl was super intuitive.
They need to have classes on avoiding dangerous dates in high school for all of the naive girls. (and boys)
@@lauranydb7979There’s no way to predict that. Some guys are creepy and aren’t killers and some killers are super charming like Ted Bundy.
😂😂😂😂😂
The only normal person on that stage was bachelor number two
“A tall glass of wine in a short glass” fucking kills me.
"Why you take this bachelor?"
Movie answer: "Because he knows, what girls are for"
Reality answer: "Because i like bananas"
Thanks so much for posting this! Have always wanted to see the full clip.
I had to do a double take when I saw your username. 😂
The real one actually looks creepy - his eyes are weird
He eyes remind me of serial killer Ted Bundy
Oh BS. You all would be swooning over him if you didn’t know his true story, just like that audience going crazy for him almost encouraging her that number 1 was the hottest
Beatie , little eyes rat 🐀😮 And he looks either seriously baked or just evil red demon eyes...😮
@Tonetare apparently Cheryl met him and felt off vibes from him instantly and didn't go out with him. So I assume we'd all feel those vibes as well. Whether or not we would go out with him or not is dependant on our upbringing and how society makes us feel when we say no. Sorry for the last sentence haha
Thanks for uploading this by the way, couldn't find it anywhere else
The movie made this show less creepy😂
True
They did say that even though the movie takes place in the 70s, they wanted the answers to be more modern because 70s charm would be considered creepy by today's standards
right the guy really blends in with everyone else’s oddness
This is creepy in a cringy way but the movie was creepy in a different way. In the movie, her blatant hostility towards the contestants was so out of left field and not believable. It was over the top. I understand maybe challenging their chauvinistic responses to fit a modern time, but she was a outright bitch to them. Then after the game, her personality goes back to normal. It was a weird choice.
I showed this video to two of my friends and asked them if they could tell which one was the serial killer. They never knew who he was but both of them picked rodney alcala. I asked them why him and they said "he is being way too charming, like i know that thats what your suppose to do on the dating game but the other two were more nervous and a little clumsy and no one is that straight forward unless they were looking for prey"
Edit: the other two seem much nicer
"We're gonna have a great time together, Cheryl." Knowing what he had done to so many women he'd met previous, that greeting he gave Cheryl is so ominous.
They all seem like serial killers, including the woman.
@hultonclint except they're not. Just Alcala. Cmon men let's focus
Hard to focus when the judge lady is sitting up there looking like The Joker from Batman!!!

That’s cruel - the bachelorette was a fresh, pretty young lady.

Reality TV today is often similar
Thank you very much. I uploaded on my channel and credited your channel. I uploaded the "Alcala scenes only" 2yrs ago and I'm getting many comments asking for the full version
She came out dressed demurely then intentionally flipped her dress up to show her legs as she was sitting down. She liked bachelor #2 after she met him. you can tell, but seemed a bit stunned by Acala. He had his hands all up on her right away. I'd like to hear the story from her point of view.
8:26 he’s a serial killer
Lol!!! 😂
Anna Kendrick did an amazing job directing the recreation of this event, kudos!
Wasn't impressed and she wasn't very good playing the starring role,.And I like her typically~
I thought this scene in the movie kind of wrecked the entire thing.
She rewrote it to make the woman a feminist
THE MOVIE SUCKED

I just met Jed Mills less than a week ago. He is the guy in the middle who's gone on to be a fine actor in shows like "Seinfeld" and the movie "Casino".

Woman of the Hour was terrific and kept me clued to the television! Anna Kendrick's did a great job on focusing on the time and how straight men treated women and still do.
All straight men?
I’m gay and even I think this comment is ridiculous. The feminist movie totally misrepresented the male contestants and they should sue.
What a ridiculous conclusion

Wow, you just forget how shaggy hair was back then until you see something like this. Woman of the Hour is really good. I recommend it!
Late 1970s everyone had a full mane of hair, lol.
NETFLIX WAS AN EPIC FAIL with reenacting this scene. They made it sound like he was smooth and smart with his responses. Rather the guy sounded like an absolute knucklehead.
I thought the scene dragged out forever. I was rather disappointed with this movie.
It's a MOVIE! Not a documentary!!!
Almost like it was a work of fiction. 😮@@billmichaels6973

5:23 Imagine if she asked Alcala that question because he actually did have a nervous breakdown while in the military
If you'd tell me one of them was a serial killer, and tell me to guess which one, I wouldn't know who to pick. Alcala was a very charming man, and that's what made him dangerous. He looks like just a normal human being.
Someone said he reminded them of Bundy. Spot on observation. Charming and good looking but all a facade.
Don't trust people who don't show any white in their eyes when they smile.
That's how they get away with it. Just like Bundy.

Wow her intuition saved her life! I can't get over anyone amongst us could be a Serial killer.
“Got his start when his father found him in the dark room fully developed.” I understand that this was photography terminology but given what we know, this was beyond chilling.
It was such a gross, bizarre, and weird comment.
Why the host kissing people on the lips tho ? Herpes wasn’t a thing in the 70’s huh ?
The film isn’t called the Dating Game. It was called Woman of the Hour.
@@stevet7487really? Thats what you got from the movie? That they changed the question around? 😂😂 Nobody is going to sue over some dumb shit like that. They let a killer on their game show who had been turned in by a number of women. And this woman is clearly strange and trying to sexualize herself.
I lived in L.A. during this time with Alcala and the Hillside Strangler putting terrior in the women in Los Angeles County. I blame the writers, not here. I think she did a fantastic job. But after watching, I wanted to refresh my memory, and was appalled at the distortion of the event.
@@stevet7487the movie is “based on” a true story but not a documentary. Most movies based on real life take liberties for dramatic purposes or, as in this case, use allegories to highlight deeper issues. In this case, it was to combine the experiences of different women and demonstrate how they weren’t taken seriously at the time, which is why he managed to kill for so long in spite of many women going to the police about him.
Apart from the serial killer, this was on TV in the 70's 😳🤯
And they blame the internet. Wowww!

Dirty banana 🍌 😂
Yep, narcissists are pros at mimicking others b/c they really don't know how to act normally.
Hats off to Anna Kendrick for sure... she did a great job with this creepfest!
This girl sure had great intuition.
Somehow it’s the woman’s fault againnnn
@@SurimistickIt’s not any of woman’s fault but some people are more intuitive. It doesn’t mean that they’re at fault! SMH
that's easy to say only because you're watching it. I don't see how anyone would have that kind of intuition hearing responses to dumb questions, behind a wall.
@@johnmarengo3988 She had the intuition upon meeting him. She stated that he was creepy when she saw his face. However, I personally thought his answers were creepy and would have never picked him. The banana, groaning and growling, nighttime etc.

There's two killers sitting next to each other, guy in the middle is Hannibal Lecter
Women: learn to notice red flags in men. When he exhibits off-behavior, be cautious with him. That’s what Cheryl did. She lived into old age.
what a naive victim blaming comment
Setting that monster aside.. Thank goodness that woman made it out alive, truly smart. That fact that we have this video to look over is just mind blowing.. Wow
Only in the 70s can a literal serial killer go on a game show unnoticed!?!?
You can see her whole face change and put on a fake smile once she gets done hugging him. Almost like she knew as soon as she saw him.
Enjoyed Anna Kendrick’s directorial debut. Woman of the Hour was something I would definitely recommend. I find it hilarious he was outwitted by a 15 year old girl.
If you found any of what happened “hilarious” you’re a sick person. The girl must have been petrified.
The movie was terrifying. I was a teenager during the 1970s. Anna Kendrick did an amazing job of capturing the horror of Rodney Alcala and also both the innocence and ignorance of that era.
Except he really wasn’t. He was paroled and went on to kill again
She was an independent, street-smart young woman. A survivor. Asking her attacker to keep quiet about what happened, getting him to trust her, and then running like hell to call the police was brilliant.
Thank you so much for finding and uploading this
I can’t even imagine what those people felt after knowing whom they had been sitting next to😮💨

This man might of killed up to 130 people and he got to sit in prison until he died of natural causes in his 70s, same with the night stalker, there is something seriously wrong with our justice system if they let these monsters live until old age
Why did she kiss the host on the lipa wtf
A lot of game show hosts did that back then. On Family Feud, Richard Dawson was kinda known for kissing the women contestants.
@lendi8472 Richard also chased down contestants to go on dates with him. It's how he met his second wife on the Family Feud. She was 23 years younger than him.

Shame on the police those times...
Not that they’re much better now. Violence against women is rampant today. Most violent still get away with it….especially if they’re white.
Police are too worried about how black people speaking in Ebonics to worry about actual dangers like white serial killers
In those times? They're STILL just as "incompetent", but more like corrupt, most of them are
Yes, it's always the police fault.
The way he grabbed her by the waist
Wild to think 2:25 is NOT the serial killer

Anna Kendrick based her whole movie on “filling in the holes” to an episode of the Dating Game she claimed no longer full existed. Yet someone taped a copy of a tv broadcast from the 90s or 2000’s. Either she’s lying or was lazy and didn’t bother doing research. The premise is also terrible one of the survivors criticized Kendrick for rewriting history and putting the spotlight on Acala. It’s disgusting that she’s profiting off the suffering of others.
She isn’t profiting from the movie
@ They didn't announce that when they released the movie. Pretty sure she realized it was bad for PR if she profited off the movie.
What are you talking about? It's common for episodes of TV from decades ago to have been lost. So some random person taped it and it wasn't discovered until after they made the movie and that makes her a liar?
@ What the hell are you talking about? The show was being broadcast on tv so the network had the master tapes of the show.
@@nothing9766 What the hell are YOU talking about? You've never lost anything before? Sometimes there are fires, things broadcast live aren't saved, somebody forgot to hit record (seriously), filed in the wrong place, stolen etc. I have absolutely no clue with respect to THIS broadcast whether it was truly lost or not, but it's very common. In fact the BBC even had national campaigns to find lost broadcast tapes of shows en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lost_television_broadcast. This Wikipedia article is 22 pages long.
