"If it ever happens, Apple's new streaming service will be free for all Apple users." That's just like saying, "This hotel room is rediculously expensive, but at least it has free breakfast."
Vult wrong, streaming services cost $12-20 per month $144-240 a year. Thats a lot of money. I doubt apple will make it free though, i think they will just add it to apple music which already has some documentaries & shows included.
I agree with Vult. It reminds me of gambling addicts who go to Las Vegas and say "at least my room is free" when in reality they've probably already paid for that room 3 or 4 times due to the money they've lost gambling.
I doubt they'll make their streaming services free. I say that because Apple streaming services only work well on Apple devices. I decided to try a free trial of Apple music on my Galaxy S8. At the time the Galaxy S8 was the latest Galaxy. My phone worked on all apps flawlessly but for some reason Apple Music didn't. It would keep crashing and it had so many bugs. The music kept buffering while other times it suddenly crashed. No way I'd ever pay for Apple streaming services when I can enjoy Spotify, Netflix, and Hulu just fine. Even many Apple users dont care about Apple's streaming services.
They've successfully converted a technological company into a luxury brand. Keeping the prices up is a way to make their products more of a sign of status.
apple just uses high quality parts to make their products. apple products are made with high quality materials for the best user experience. so apple products are more expensive ecause there made with better parts. not stuff they found out of the trash.@@apa8201

@@johnbiscuit8272 Apps do update themselves John. Not even one of the apps you mentioned above stayed the same in the last few years. They have updated with tons of new features that most phones and tablets released in the last few years can operate. Take a look at how Facebook operates their video call services with a lot of visuals for users to use on their face: turning into a rabbit, a dragon... I can see how our old phones are slow while performing this and that is I am willing to pay extra cash to earn one of these new iPad. But why not an Android device? Please, go to Google and read about how strong these iPads are. All these Android tablet manufactures are doing is to mimic the look of iPad, not the real power of iPads. Most of them get slower just after 1 year or even shorter than that. iPads stay longer, much longer. I bought one 4 years ago and it is still running fast. I'd pay a huge bunch of money for a device to run smoothly for 4-5 years rattan than an Android tablet or phone which could possibly slow or die right after 1 year.
john Biscuit it is not about phone. It is about how crap that google did in the few years back. I wonder how many android phone did last upto 2-3 years. I dont like how apple raise their price specially for xr vs macbook air which are entry product. Until its price unworthy then i may consider to look for some new os. Google really the most companies i ever hate, they sold user info for advertising, they use user as a lab rat for their new changing , forget every phone that is older than 1 years old. Really!? So you can buy 2 mid range phones from android for every 4 years or spent it on the phone that cost double the price but live up to 4 years

Is this the reason they are also trying to sue repair shops and lying to their consumers about the REALLY HIGH repair costs it will take to repair their products?
maybe or not. apple wants their customers to pay the pricy repair is to pay up the manufacturing cost. them their salary is top notch while the people under the lower sector would be given less.
@@AlmostLastJedi They try to pass it off as a "counterfeit" repair, especially since independent repair shops don't have access to OEM parts. Most shops have to buy parts refurbished and salvaged from other devices, and they want to call it counterfeit because businesses are refurbishing parts with an Apple logo on it. It sounds stupid to me, but who knows what Apple can get lawmakers to believe...
the news caught Apple charging over a thousand dollars for a screen repair and after taken to a third party all that was wrong was a bent pin and the repair was FREE, this isn't about the high repair costs. This is pure fabrication of really a non-existent issue. Apple is just getting more and more money hungry. Apple never had to lie before so why do they need to now?
Their products used to be somewhat moderately priced. Definitely priced for most people to attain. Now the costs of an iPhone seem just for the upper class. It's more of a luxury item and status symbol these days.
@@lunafringe10 I did not know/trust them until 4 years ago, then I bought one of their mid-range phones and it was great, I replaced it with another 2 years ago because it cost me the same as going onto a plan keeping the older phone. Both phones still work well even though the 4 year old one isn't lasting quite as long between charges but is nowhere near dead. I have ordered a Huawei nova 3 for the next replacement and will have got a couple of excellent devices into my parents hands that they would never purchase themselves and there is no way I could afford it any other way. Considering the nova 3 has an acta core (4*2.4 ghz and 4*1.8 ghz) excellent screens, expandable memory as well as a selection of SS memory and 4 or 6 RAM variants, it is a winner starting at $300 Aussie dollars.

Honestly, I belive that when they don't change their policy or don't come out with something completley new and revolutionary, they will die slowly in the futrue. Apple has so much potential. But it wouldn't be the first time that Apple goes down. Back then Steve itself said, that they need to lower the price of the Macintosh in order to people to buy them. The company didn't listen to him so they got nearly bankrobbed. One of the most important things for a tech hardware company is, HOW MANY PEOPLE actually use their hardware. So with other words, if less people use iPhones and Macs because they get too expencive, they will slowly die.

There's one more reason I think you may have forgotten about, and that is the simple psychology of premium prices. For some products, people assume the product is better if it's more expensive, even if the component parts of the product are no better than the competition (this holds especially true to things like fashion). Apple has successfully branded themselves as a premium technology company, and so people expect, and maybe even WANT Apple products to be expensive (whether it's justified by better tech or not).
Explain to me the logic of going on an apple-based channel just to say that iPhone sucks, you toxic shitskins. Why can't you behave properly on the internet? It would be better for anyone
That's why every apple products are incompatible with other platforms. It all makes sense. They are now forcing consumers to get stuck with apple even if the price hike is clearly unfair
Well, the reason why Steve Jobs made Apple's things incompatible in some ways is because you lose control if you let anyone in (an example is the so much fragmented market of Android) and thus can't make sure the user isn't getting an experience that wasn't intended. But guess it's changing a little bit now.
well why should Apple spend time and money making their products compatible with other platforms when they can make money from people buying more Apple products
They are not Incompatible, that's Microsoft you are thinking of. E.g., Macs can read NTFS discs natively but Windows can't read HFS+ or APFS. Apple does a MUCH better job at interoperability than Micro$oft.
Saad Kashif if they don’t make actual products, what do they make then? I’ve had my iPhone for years and years, still works perfectly fine. I bought an Android before that and it failed in the first week. My 2014 iPad is still like new. I recently found my gen 1 iPod nano and it still worked after charging. Not sure what you’re talking about...
That's answered in the videos... They have sold all the products they could... Most people won't switch computers every 2 or 3 years, so they don't have many "new" costumers every year anymore.
More consumers are just keeping their devices longer before upgrading. Eg I used to upgrade my iPhone every year but I’m holding on the my iPhone 8 Plus for 2 years or more now. It’s just not worth the $$$ anymore.
I buy an iPhone every 3-4 years and works great for me. Don’t buy them because of the “hiGh pReSTiGe”, I just like the phone and I already have all my apps saved on the iCloud and Account
People are already being driven away, I have had several friends that have switched to an android device in the last year, and although they aren't as happy with the interface of their devices compared to apple, they did it based on principle, and have quickly grown used to android. Middle class individuals are having a really hard time being able to keep the money they make these days, and they don't like being taken advantage of. I have an iPhone 7plus, and although I love it I plan to switch to another phone when mine decides to give out. I can't justify the amount of money that apple is asking, and am not willing to still pay a premium price for their subpar base models. I have to eat and pay rent in this economy, therefore apple will lose a customer.
I have iPhone 8 I jumped from iPhone 5s and I agree what are you saying. This is wrong but we as a customers can just move to other platform. Customer is a king in free market. However I personally never move to Android because google is spying your phone through Android OS it’s their own OS
"they did it out of principle" they wouldn't have one if they got an apple product in the first place. when someone tells you to pay extra cuz of "brand" name, you do not have a principle period. also most people i know that own an iphone don't even know the specs! they just want an iphone cause.... its famous? yep, so they pay extra for...uhh..a brand.. isheep indeed.
listen homie, the reason iphone prices are rising is that they are costing more and more to develop and manufacture, look it up. if they keep the price the same their return on investment % profit margin gets lower.
To please shareholders... Steve understood balance, Apple now realizes they can charge what they want, because they have us by the balls... I've owned all Apple products but I haven't bought anything in like 4 years just for the simple fact that the markups are ridiculous. Recycled aluminum, some plastic parts all made in china, plus last year's technology does not demand the price they want.
I would advise people who are locked in those ecosystems and have a healthy mind about it like you to just buy used "older" Apple stuff, until your hardware is all together either unusable, or just old enough anyways, and it is time for you to change, and you saved a lot of money anyways from not having the newest smartphone etc. Then you can jump ship and get your work (in general get your shit done) anyways cost effectively. Problem solved. Get yourself some decent hardware for way less. Maybe on a Desktop or Laptop that has windows on it you install a nice dual boot linux distro that like Jobs would call it "just works" (Ubuntu is a bit bloaty, it is quiet filled Xubuntu does the job well also from Canonical, and Manjaro XFCE is also killing it, but for the bit savy people, has a lot of graphical tools like Ubuntu to). The installation is Child like simple now and you just restart with your new easily installed dual boot system for using all the windows programs that might be necessary, there you have your special environment instead of Windows if you don't need to use the exclusive Windows programs. Problem solved. All done. Bye Bye Apple.

In 2015 Sammy started work on Robots to replace Chinese Labour. 2016 they started implementing them. They used machines to make and test they're Note 9 phones. Apple is still using cheap Chinese Labour and has made no statement to stop doing so. 2. So what? It doesn't matter if they don't have factories. They pay the pay the people who do the crime. Apple only invested in robotics when Trump nagged at them to create more jobs for the US citizens, however Apple only plans to go fully robotic in US...so they essentially gave the middle finger to Trump and America, by creating virtual no jobs for US while having factories in US.
A few notes: 1. Apple crossed the line of improving their bottom line at the expense of customer experience some time ago. 2. I’m stuck in the ecosystem, so I haven’t switched to other devices, but I have stopped purchasing new Apple products. My MacBook Pro is from 2011, and my phone is an iPhone 6 (I’ve replaced batteries in both of them - and not by paying Apple). I also have an iPhone SE, but only because I could buy it new for $38. 3. You didn’t mention the hidden price hikes. For example, by removing the headphone jack Apple forced customers to give them another $159 for headphones to achieve the very basic functionality of listen to something while charging. Something that used to be free with the included headphones. 4. I highly, highly doubt the Netflix-like service will remain free for long. Apple Music was free for awhile as well, but now it isn’t.
Isn't n.3 borderline false? The iPhone still includes perfectly compatible earphones in the box. Also, if you want to switch ecosystems you should know that almost everything is intercompatible nowadays, things like calendars and contacts can be exported through standardized formats. Things like notes and emails are either just glorified text files (exportable as, well, text) or just remote services that will work just as well on a different ecosystem. There's a switch to Android website that shows how to do all that almost entirely automatically.
I was in the same situation, but I switched from an iPhone to a galaxy, and from s MacBook/ipad to a Chromebook. Have never looked back and couldn't be happier. I just bought my note9 got a HUGE discount and Samsung sent me a free pair of 300$ wireless headphones. More than 800$ worth of savings/gifts from Samsung.
And don't forget that by not including the dongle in the box with this year's iPhones they are essentially forcing people to buy dongles or new earbuds once the ones included stop working.
Exactly. Never let a gay man run a multi billion dollar business. They will make everything "rose gold" and turn your company into a fashion concern. End of story.
Anon 1 Are you fucking stupid? Apple went bankrupt when they fired Steve Jobs and he had to come back to the company to save it, you must be brain dead go read some history before making such stupid statements.
@Anon 1 You won't sell anything if you don't know how to market your products. Steve Jobs was a marketing genius who knew exactly what people wanted for before even they did. This is why Apple's most successful products are reinventions rather than inventions. And Jobs greatest reinvention was Apple itself, a company that he co-founded and was fired from, which almost killed Apple. He then returned as CEO when Apple was on the brink of bankruptcy and saved the company.
Yeah but that’s not true either I have a note 8 and an iPhone 8 and they are both good phone so wasn’t being angry there people just don’t know pricing and I have compared both of them and they are both as speedy and have a smooth operating system
Apple is starting to plateau. Price is a matter. I didn’t change my phone because of the price. For the first time in 20 years as an Apple user, I’m considering to change my “ecosystem” - specially because I use more and more Google services. Phones shouldn’t cost more than $700 (flagship models) iPad Pro shouldn’t cost more than $1,000 (flagship models)
Unruly Masses it’s price is coherent. The iPad Pro is really a powerful device, even powerful than 92% of the laptops on the market, and you really can’t compare one of those crappy android tablets to the iPad Pro.
When the Concorde SST was retired, I watched a documentary on its history. British Airways was losing money for years on their original pricing for Concorde airfare. They had set prices to be competitive with 1st-class, SUBSONIC airfare. Someone at the company realized that most of their passengers were so wealthy, their secretary or assistant made their arrangements. The passengers had no idea what a ticket cost (~$2,500, in '84-dollars). So, British Airways SURVEYED THE PASSENGERS: how much do you think your ticket cost? Their answers... DOUBLED THE PRICE. So much for the "exceptionalism" of the top 1%. Apple's customers tend to be, also... from their money... easily parted.
Not all iPhone users are wealthy. I know people who save up months to buy an iPhone or they pay every month for it. They get the phone only so they can showcase it on top of a coffee table when they drink coffee. The funny thing is that most of them don't even buy minutes for the phone (7€ per month)and end up messaging you saying "call me to talk"
best ever you do not need to over react. The video was supposed to be about why. Not examples of raising prices for over 7 minutes. That’s just way to extend the video to over 10 minutes for extra ad revenue.
Wouldn't it be the iPhone XXX at this point? Or they'll change the naming system to match the laptops. (Year, or point within year of release.) They're probably trying to be like a car company.
Zero Black in fact iphone XXX will feature holographic porn, and a high advanced pocket pussy that works like a normal masturbator but it’s priced $500 because it includes wifi support. Tim cook will also make siri dirty on the iphone xxx, so expect siri to be a dumb sexually hyperactive ai.

At some point, they will price themselves out of business. Not just Apple, but all tech companies. Even the "cutting edge tech" will no longer be justification for buying a new gadget. In reality, these "innovations" aren't truly innovative. We still use the same interface, still the same click, drag, spread, pinch, and swipe - BORING, and still use the same batteries that seem to die even faster than previous generations. And yet we are still fooled into thinking next year's model will be better? I've been over the tech craze for three years now. I no longer buy the latest and greatest when they're immediately released, nor even after waiting three months for the real life reviews. Apple isn't the only company pulling your leg. Nothing is groundbreaking anymore in an age where tech gadgets get updated every three months just for the sake of sales. Honestly, I would much rather spend money on a product I know will give me 10 years minimum of reliable use. But since tech cannot guarantee that, I won't be lining up at stores on release day anytime soon.
I do not agree, let me give you my opinion. These companies really understand price elasticity and I'm sure Apple keeps moving the same or more units to the market at a higher price. They really know what the consumer expects and is able to pay and the second they feel the consumer is backing out they will re adjust. I hope this starts soon but I will not put money on it because with every new model and new price brackets they just keep selling more and more units. I'm an Apple full range consumer and I pay this because I know Apple products last me a long, long time. Consumer demand dictates price. I work for a really big company that exercises this too well. Retail prices are built top to bottom now starting with what the consumer is actually eager to pay for a pair of sneakers and then that way you downscale to FOB/cost pricing. This is healthy because it builds a pull strategy for product instead of pushing product to the market. When we, as consumers, stop paying high ticketed items the prices will go lower. Are we doing this? No. Take cars for example, a Toyota Corolla was always a low priced economy vehicle but as reliability and consumer demand grew the prices also went up to actual prices where a basic model can cost up to $20k! That is not economy! What you are doing is actually the best strategy, buy what you need when you need it, not a minute sooner.
I agree. At a different point. I don’t think that just because people like the previous product they will immediately buy the next one. Which is what companies must think if they’re pumping out new computers, phones, tablets, watches, cameras and way more. I only got a new iPad when my one at the time wore out and was REALY REALY slow. And the iPad I have now has been with me for 3 years. It’s the old iPad Pro, and my previous one was THE ORIGINAL IPAD 2. So I didn’t upgrade straight away.and I’m not upgrading anytime soon.
Fluzz Fuzz nope!? Not anymore, they trying to make themselves look like bmw, audi, Mercedes all those luxuries brand, they sold less but make the same profit...not good neither...so, instead of not buying, why dont we just buy what ever suit you...what ever you can afford...and you love it...the rich will still buy apple and the poor will going to Chinese devices... second, as some one in developing team, i understand that they have to raise workers salaries, they have to created new specs, new software and design which all cost money...every items raise overtime and dont ask why!? Cannot compare something to the past since the value changing through time. I still buying apple products because , I believe 1000 justify at least 4 years when 500 android can only have from 1 to 2 years...so its mean,i have to upgrade every 2 years, same price tho...and nothing guarantee that the mid ranges give you best experience
I disagree with your android opinion. I've got my first Android phone in 2013 for 160€ (about 200$ maybe) and it lasted me for 4 YEARS before I upgraded to the Nokia 6, which was priced 250€ (300-350$). So no, the price doesnt always justify the lifespan of a phone, doesnt matter if ios or android. just take good care of it and itll last you for a long time.
Well it is the best that humanity can offer in the current time with this price We literally cannot make better batteries or different types of screen interface without making them insanely expensive
I think it’s sad that you get an incredibly high price for a low storage iPad. 64GB was good back when that was the best, but now it’s just not enough.
Othynrix I just can’t fathom buying the 256 gb model with a keyboard and pen for $1200, let alone choosing it over a regular laptop which has better software. Apple offers 128gb laptops and desktops in 2018???? What????? I think Microsoft now seems like a better company for value for money. Apple in my mind is now for the 1% of the 1%. I didn’t mind a small apple tax but I’m finding apples current pricing and offerings making me sick. Phone wise I actually wish I had a phone like the One Plus 6. It’s so fast and so cheap. My XS max is twice the price but not twice as good. Laptop wise I think Microsoft and Dell are making some good hardware. I hate the fact there is so little competition in the Apple Watch market. That bugs me. Come on google and Microsoft. AirPods are also on their own and have no competition. The Apple Watch series 2 and air pods were fantastic products. I’m hoping over the next 2 years. There is more competition so I can fully switch away from Apple perhaps to Google or One Plus.

So the I pad pro is really expensive and bends & breaks super easily, though the iPad is supposed to be designed to carry anywhere. Now, it's not recommended to ever put it in your backpack because it's so fragile! The newest I phone is also really expensive and doesn't live up to many "claims" made by Apple. I'll just keep using my old I pad & I phone until Apple makes them unusable (by design) After that, it's time to switch name brands for all my portable electronics. I used to be a fan of most Apple products but that's come to an end!
Stuart Hayward I feel the same. I’ll give them 1-2 more years before I need to replace my phone and iPad and if they haven’t changed their ways, I’ll be switching. I’m using the old iPad Pro from 2017 and the iPhone 7 which I re-bought this year because I don’t like the new phones. Apple is on the verge of a decline we haven’t seen since Nokia or Blackberry.
Greatly explained. And I’m afraid its very true that Apple is just after our money in a saturating market. I am slowly leaving the ecosystem after almost 30 years. I don’t want to feel caught in their ecosystem as a cash-cow. I was surprised how many good alternatives there are out there, both phones and laptops.
jean-pierre damen yeah I love Apple products but I’m going keep my iPhone X for as long as I can and after that, I’ll probably move to one of the flagship killer androids. Not sure about my MacBook tho, I had it before I had the any other Apple products & still preferred it to similar priced windows laptops. In fact I’ve had it so long that it’s cost me €450/year at this point which is better longevity than I’ve ever gotten out of a windows machine (and much more stable, I think it's only crashed/froze bad enough to be rebooted ~3 times in all the time I've had it). It’s also a huge pain moving all my photos. The integrated photos app in iCloud/iPhone/Mac is so handy. I always hated copying photos from an SD Card to a window computer cos theres no way of easily spotting duplicates

Keep asking why, you're not done yet. Why? Because they love Apple products. People don't go ape shit for a Google or Samsung logo. People without Apple products like to shit on Apple, meanwhile people with Apple products love their products. Now use your commons sense from here. www.lucaslevon.com
Gigabarto, Samsung is following Apple’s footsteps. Both Apple and Samsung has tablets, computers, watches, phones, TVs, smart speakers, and accessories for their own devices.
Lucas Levon that’s a non-argument. good for them for loving their products. The problem is that they shouldn’t have to buy the phones at that kind of price. The features that Apple lays claim to are hardly “premium.”
That's what people are missing here, though -- if Apple wasn't able to sell the products at these prices, they wouldn't be making any money. Instead, they're the most valuable company in the world. Demand clearly hasn't fallen out, it's just reduced a tad.
I’ll say this I like my iPhone but I usually skip a generation. I have a 7 now and I probably won’t upgrade again until they release new ones next year
Thats actually made them bump the prices. Quite a few sources have said that apple are aware of drop in sales so they bumped the price. (back on the consumer) The best announcement from apple this year was informing everybody that there new products are made from recycled apple products. But you have to pay more and there is no cash back recycle offer to there consumer. (subscribers) and everybody clapped.

@@rrxt The problem is apple always is comming out with something newer that make what you have look like junk. Also why would you by used. you never know how that person treated thier phone or what kind of crap they have downloaded... viruses r real.
Part of Apple's strategy is showing the cheapest models with low speed and capacity to convince customers to upgrade parts, thus spending more. Or recently by selling dongles. The shift certainly was obvious under Tim Cook, but Cook managed to double Apple's revenue and profit. In fact Cook is doing a great job at that. So mind that Cook is not about great products, as Jobs was, but about great profits.
Apple under Cook has doubled its revenues to $200 billion while doubling profit and tripling the amount of cash it has in the bank (now a quarter of trillion dollars).
Hello Swiftful hmm, Apple isn’t making a fortune off of dongles. I think Apple does tier their pricing so that the entry level isn’t nearly as good a deal as the high end. But that’s just smart business
My friend went around asking what kind of phones people had. I told her I had an iPhone 8 and she just said “You’re lucky.” I didn’t realize that apple products were so expensive until now..
KeyLad ! I have big hands but I absolutely love my iPhone 8 the plus is just a larger screen and has a tad little juice and I got this on an insane deal of 32$ a month for both unlimited text and minutes plus 40 GB for 18 months
@@LolzerXD2014 In that case , I'd have suggested iPhone 7 and not 8 since the upgrade is minute for the crazy hike in the price.. Its tricky off late to buy Apple products. Just do a lil more research before buying to see if the price is justified.. Coz Apple now , is all about making money.
Meaning the price was fair. Nobody buys products if the price is not fair (except if there is monopoly). Could it be lower and they still would make great money? Sure. But whats the point from a business standpoint?
After 10 years of I phone ownership, last year I switched to Samsung Galaxy S8+. This was the result of reaching the conclusion that Apple is taking advantage of consumers like me by keeping the same design with minor changes and marking it up. Look at I phone 6, 6S, 7, 8. All are very similar in every aspect with a little bit of higher resolution cameras and faster chip. Needless to say the prices got bumped significantly higher and higher. That is how Apple could afford to have nearly $200 billion dollars cash available in their accounts. Unfortunately for the consumers as commented by another viewer of this video, there are plenty of i sheep out there. The part that I am proud of myself is convincing 4 of my friends to switch from I phone to Samsung S8. Now in all honesty, I do miss the ease of use of an I phone. Especially since I still own an I pad. However, I am a true believer in standing up for your rights and defending it rather than letting a greedy corporation like Apple sticking it to me. I hope this will awaken some i sheep out there in order to make a better change for everyone. Respectfully, Ron
Here, in Brazil, the $999 iPad starts at $2.250 - With this money I can go to USA and buy it the iPad and a lot of accessories. The most expensive iMac Pro it costs almost $30k and the 512gb iPhone XS Max it costs $2.700k. And people buy it.
I used to buy a new iPhone every two years, one year apart sometimes. Now I'm happy with my iPhone 6S from 2015. It works a treat and got new life with new battery and iOS 12. I don't intend to replace it any time soon so I guess I'm one of those responsible for declining sales. Same for my Macbook Pro from 2014.
@@YashRamisetty I just don't want to pay that much money for a phone. Xiaomi always gives me an affordable tech not only on phone but everything i need in my life.
If they decrease the amount for these products more people will buy them. This equals out to what there doing now (raising prices) but not getting as many buyers. But more buyers always means more profit. So why not lower prices?
FBR_ MICROZ because this allows them to have the same amount of revenue without having to deal with as many customers, and fewer users helps to create the illusion that their products are elite
The video covered that. The problem is that they peaked in 2015 in what respects product sales. There's a big risk on lowering prices, and even more for such a big company as Apple. If they lowered their prices, they'd peak again and would have to lower prices once again; they'd go downhill forever doing something like this. As doing so is terribly risky, this works better for smaller companies. Also, I think there's a ratio between how cheap are you products and the expected market growth out of it. If they price their phones 20% lower, being really optimistic (because this is not that simple, economics do not posses a linear behavior), their growth would go up to 20% in that year, which leaves them at exactly the same place, plus the fact that they wouldn't be able to lower the price anymore.
So he explained that the market is oversaturated, when a company grows too much it starts to experience diminishing returns because there are less new customers. It would not be practical to lower the price for the few that still can enter their market, but to charge more on the existing would me more efficient, logical, convenient and logical.
I am suprised such a question is asked. It is quite obvious. Apple is not Huawei or other Chinese brand. They are not about the price and quantity. The worst scenario for the company is to start fighting on price and lowering prices. Apple is an exclusive brand and this the marketing model they are consequently developing. No doubt they have the best experts in the industry and have bece a role model how to market a product.
Yeah the green bubble iMessage stigma is mostly an American (and European) thing. I live in the US and Americans have no idea that here is even a World outside of California, Las Vegas and New York. I'm sure most people here believe that iOS has 75%+ market share worldwide, because it feels that way in large US cities.
Paying $1000 for a computer and use it for eight years vs paying $500 for a computer and use it for three years because it turns out that you don’t like the experience. Telling this from a person who is from Android and Windows.
The Apple Tax goes back way further than the iPod. Let's travel back to 1992. For about $3K, you'd get a Mac running at around 25 mhz, that included a 9" grayscale CRT, 2 MB or RAM, a 60 MB HD, and admittedly, a CD drive. For about $700 less, I got a 486 DX-33, 8 MB of RAM, a 180 MB HD, a 14" SVGA monitor and two floppy drives (5.25" and 3.5"). Now, I didn't get a sound card or CD-drive, but even with adding them as extras, it still would have come out to be a couple of hundred dollars less. And the software selection was WAY higher. It just didn't make sense back then to get a Mac unless you really wanted or needed one. Things got better over the years, but now, Apple is amping the prices up again to the point where it doesn't make sense to buy a new Apple product as the price to performance ratio is much less than what it was even a couple of years ago. The best bet is to buy new old stock, or refurbished, or used Macs as they'll still be compatible, maybe slightly slower, but have more ports and thus less 'dongle hell'.
Except that in 1992 The average price of a CD ROM Drive was $400+ and even an AdLib was $200. $300+ for a nicer Sound Blaster. RAM was also still over $100 a mb back then while an average 486SX system came with 1mb-2mb and a 40mb HDD at a $2000 price point. So getting a 486, especially a DX, with 8mb RAM and a 180MB HDD for $2300 seems way too cheap to be true.
I owned a retail PC store in the 90's. I will say Apple was expensive but there was a reason back then. They uses SCSI hard drives vs. MFM/RLL hard drives and then IDE , then SATA. The SCSI drives are 300% more costly back then but were super fast and lasted forever. They could also be daisy chained together with a simple cable and didn't need an adapter card and to be manually setup like in the pc's. I had to carry a book produced every 6 months with the heads/sectors/cylinders and landing zone to manually set each drive. For Apple it was plug and play. Apple also used USB and Firewire first, had a mouse first, had great support compared to Dell, Compaq, etc. They were still more than the pc but the price difference was not that much if you built a same hardware pc machine. The displays were better quality. PC's had a range from crappy cheap to super awesome. Most people bought super cheap to sorta cheap, Apple only sold super awesome, so the costs were always higher. I had a few customers who had both ( for work reasons ) and the stuff the Apple could do that Dos couldn't was impressive. Apple used a GUI before MS did and that was a huge selling feature if you had the money. Also you didn't buy an Intel DX33 back then, you bought an AMD that was faster and 10% cheaper. It wasn't until 2006 with the Core series that Intel finally started to out perform AMD. Cyrix and IBM were junk but also cheaper. AMD rules as did DR DOS on the PC side. Both better and cheaper than the alternatives. It is why MS came out with Win 95, to kill off Digital Research, and it worked a few years later. Win 95 and Win 98 were just Windows on top of Dos but bundled together to force you to use MS if you wanted Windows. By that point Windows was taking over for consumer stuff while Dos still had a hold on business programs. By the late 90's Dos was pretty much dead and Windows was the new king.
@@chrisbatson8748 While all that may be true, the real value was in the amount of software available and the customization available. Yeah, headaches would invariably ensue as you tried to get everything to play nicely, whereas with an Apple, you were pretty damn sure that everything you got was going to work, but there were other little caveats as well. Let's zoom forward to the year 2000. Diablo II had just been released and was a monster hit. Blizzard had trouble keeping the game in stock as it sold out very, very quickly. I finally got my copy a couple of months after release. Went down to the local EB Games, picked up my PC version for $39.99, and happily marched up to the counter to pay. As I passed the one small shelf that had Mac games and products, I noticed that D2 for Mac was $52.99. 'Man, I'd hate to be a Mac owner and have to pay that much more for games.', I thought to myself as I paid for my copy. When I got home, I started to look at the CD case, and instructions, and thought, 'Hmmm...it certainly seems as if this might also have the Mac version included...'. Luckily, I worked at a printing company which had brand new G4 towers and thought 'Let me bring this to work and let's see if my theory is correct.'. And it was. There was absolutely no difference between the PC and Mac versions of the game. Common knowledge to some at the time maybe, but obviously not to all as EB and Blizzard wouldn't have gotten away with that little scam if there was. I'm quite sure there were more than a few of the Mac Faithful who grabbed the Mac box without even looking twice and spent $13 or more for the exact same game. Maybe the price hike was to cover the dev costs for making a Mac version. Who knows. It still stands to reason that with a little bit of research and planning, you'd still get a much better machine by going with a PC back then. I managed to get quite a few years out of my PC before finally buying a new one as I upgraded the motherboard, the CPU, the GPU, the sound card, put in a CD-Drive, and more memory before finally hitting a brick wall about seven or eight years later. I will give points to the SCSI drives though. I've got a couple of old Mac SE's that I bought that still have the original drives from the late 80's that are, knock on wood, still motoring along. I can't really speak to how good the AMD chips were back in the early 90's, but I do know that the Athlon I bought in 2001 blew the doors off the Intel chips at the time. All in all, good points. I suppose that with Apple, you paid for everything up front, but then you ran the risk of being locked into the hardware. With a PC, you could spend a bit here, a bit there, and for a while have a machine that evolved until it just couldn't anymore.
@@raydeen2k I was a gamer back in the late 80's and on myself. Duke Nukkem 3d, Wolf 3d, Doom, Quake, Unreal Tourn., I played them all on a Dos and/or Windows machine. From the S3 GPU, to the First Voodoo cards, I had them all. I just had no use for Apple even though the GUI was better. I much prefer Apple now since I mostly don't game and when I do, I have Win 7 Pro in a VM on my Late 2013 Retina Quad i7 , the WEI is 7.1 inside the VM.( 2 cores, 8gb ram, 1GB Video ram GT 750m video card ) I can't run new games but I can run anything 5 years old or older. Back in the 90's AMD was about 10% faster than the Intel CPU's and cost less. ( They had higher clock speeds Example the 386 Intel maxed at 33 mhz, it was 40mhz on the AMD ) From the 286 up AMD was faster, until Intel found speed magic with the Core Duo series in 2006, Intel has led the way in pure speed since but AMD has great speed for the $$$ here lately. I never played Diablo but none of the FPS I used or sold ever had both versions in one disc. I had a friend who worked at EB and he was able to take games homes to play. They had a shrink wrap machine to make them look new again. I had a CD Burner ( very expensive back then ) so I made copies and we would play via LAN at my office. ( to play online required different serial numbers for all the installs, not so for LAN play.) I don't remember a single one of them having Mac and Dos versions. For the most part AAA games didn't get ported to Apple ever or 2-4 years later if they did. I didn't use Apple back then so I don't know. I just know the specs since I have worked on every model of machine from the G3 up and some of the older Performa series and such. There are 2 places here that still use OS 9 based hardware for specialized machines that cost new car prices to replace. ( both are running G4 towers in classic mode in 10.4.11 to run OS 9 ) The good ol days in Computers. When a .28 dot pitch Color 1024X768 monitor cost $400 or you could go all out for a Sony .25 dot pitch 15" Flat CRT for $600. When 9 pin and 24 pin printers were around and then the HP Deskjet 500 came out, or the 500c that added color. I knew someone that still had one that was working, or at least around 5-6 years ago. Those were the days when stuff was built to last. The IBM XT case that weighted 20 lbs with a huge power supply with the on switch on the side that also weighted 10 lbs. Damn , I am old.......
@@chrisbatson8748 Old? You and me both. :) I'm actually in the OS X/Linux camp now (I have one Windows box running 8.1 for games, but not really AAA titles) and have become a bit of a collector of older machines. Actually, I tell a lie about the Windows box. I have several much older Windows PCs running DOS 3.2, 5, Win 3.1, 95, 98, 2000 and XP but mostly to run vintage software. On the Mac side, I have the older SE's, a few iBooks; two clamshells (Blueberry and Tangerine), one white G3, two white G4's (one running Lubuntu 16.04), a 17" Powerbook running 10.4/Ubuntu MATE 16.04, an iMac G3 (Grape), a PowerPC G3, a Quicksilver G4, G4 and Intel Mac Minis, a black MacBook, white 2008 and unibody 2009 Macbooks, an 09 MBPro and an 09 iMac with an i7 and a 2TB HD (which is damn near full) and a slew of Linux laptops. And two fairly mint Apple II's, a C64, a Timex Sinclair 1000, and my very first computer, an Atari 400. I haven't powered on the 400 in years (keep meaning to dig it out), but the other dinosaurs still run like the day they came off the factory floor. Most of all that was either free or found at really reduced prices. I often refer to my basement as The Ancient Computer Burial Ground. Shit's old, but I love it. I will say this though, as much as I can and do shit on Windows, the classic Mac OS was as fragile as a glass menagerie. I'd worked with them a bit in the 90's at the printing shop and until I got some of the older machines, I'd forgotten all about the many, many times that I had to rebuild the desktop, fix damaged resource forks, rebuild the font suitcase, reboot the entire system because a program didn't behave nicely and give control back to the Finder....oy vey. OS X was a godsend to the Apple world. But being able to play 'Happyweed' during a lunch break made it all worthwhile. :D Now I just need to get a classic Mac that's capable of color and also slow enough to be able to run that damn program properly...

Its also not worth the money for the tech that comes in these items.
Its just a luxury item in cost alone.

Mariann Mariann Apple is a company, companies keep running with money.
There's one more reason I think you may have forgotten about, and that is the simple psychology of premium prices. For some products, people assume the product is better if it's more expensive, even if the component parts of the product are no better than the competition (this holds especially true to things like fashion). Apple has successfully branded themselves as a premium technology company, and so people expect, and maybe even WANT Apple products to be expensive (whether it's justified by better tech or not).
some people are dumb, that's all and they can't differentiate between a value product or an expensive non-value for money product

Well that's good for apple but not for customers.

RealiableCandy4 1. Samsung was sued several times because of the abuse of labour.
2. Apple doesn’t.... have factories.

1. it was not Samsung, it was it's suppliers workers used fake IDs. They severely reprimanded them. It was also in 2014.
A few notes:
The_Blazer he said while charging
I was in the same situation, but I switched from an iPhone to a galaxy, and from s MacBook/ipad to a Chromebook. Have never looked back and couldn't be happier. I just bought my note9 got a HUGE discount and Samsung sent me a free pair of 300$ wireless headphones. More than 800$ worth of savings/gifts from Samsung.
And don't forget that by not including the dongle in the box with this year's iPhones they are essentially forcing people to buy dongles or new earbuds once the ones included stop working.

The "Apple event in New York City", what was it called "The Big Apple"?
That's the problem about investors in a company. You can have a lot of value, yet if your growth is very low, they'll put lot of pressure on you.
Well it is the best that humanity can offer in the current time with this price
We literally cannot make better batteries or different types of screen interface without making them insanely expensive

Then it will be called the Depression II
Loyal Apple fan here.
I hate the Mac Mini. I hate the MacBook Air. I hate the iPad Pro. I hate the Apple Pencil.
I like the iPhone. I like the Apple Watch. I like the air pods.
As of the next few years. I’m going to leave Apple entirely. I won’t endorse this unnecessary and stupid Apple tax. I honestly don’t think Apples products are good enough to justify the price.
I’m a normal person on an okay to good salary in Britain.
I probably would’ve bought the series 4 if it was priced the same as before. I haven’t as the price is so high it’s hard to justify.
I did buy the XS Max Which I now regret and wish I bought the XR.
I think my love for Apple has died.
Apple offers 64GB phones and iPads in 2018???? What??????
R X Google are just as bad.
Great choice 👍 hope u come out of apple fucking ecosystem which saved me now am saving a lot of money compared to apple sold bullshit to me for $1000
Why not huawei ?
DPMO google are worse imo because they have shit hardware they lack innovation the only good thing that company has is their software team for the camera everything else is utter garbage plus they sell all your data so fuck google lmfao apple or one plus all the way.
thejayeee google are piss poor
So the I pad pro is really expensive and bends & breaks super easily, though the iPad is supposed to be designed to carry anywhere. Now, it's not recommended to ever put it in your backpack because it's so fragile! The newest I phone is also really expensive and doesn't live up to many "claims" made by Apple. I'll just keep using my old I pad & I phone until Apple makes them unusable (by design)
After that, it's time to switch name brands for all my portable electronics. I used to be a fan of most Apple products but that's come to an end!
Stuart Hayward I had my IPad Pro in my bag all the time in a holiday trip and its surprisingly still not bent
@@NoNo-qj3ef Are you using the latest model or the previous one?
Stuart Hayward I feel the same. I’ll give them 1-2 more years before I need to replace my phone and iPad and if they haven’t changed their ways, I’ll be switching. I’m using the old iPad Pro from 2017 and the iPhone 7 which I re-bought this year because I don’t like the new phones. Apple is on the verge of a decline we haven’t seen since Nokia or Blackberry.
My I Pad Air 1 still works perfectly
Especially sad when my dads 2000 bmw omly cost 1,300 dillars
The price will drop once a company threatens their success
If Samsung or someone else does big numbers and threatens apple with that then apple will drop their price
@@dannyclaws1 That's not how apple work tho, Samsung & Huawei already out sell Apple. Apple have 50% market share in the western markets, and only about 15% market share globally for smartphones. They don't care about the number of units, they care about the revenue. Hence why they're moving aggressively into the "high quality product at a very high margin" market.
jean-pierre damen me too .. I hate to fell I’m used and now I became sure they are after my pocket !
@@user46346bdtgry they aren't moving to a more expensive margin they have always been expensive. If they drop their price to what others offer then apple would take up much of the market but they would lose money doing so even if they gain a lot more sales.
I can see apple dropping their price when they get a new OLED manufacture.

I bought into the apple sleepie program for many years. I finally had enough with their price gouging with their new phones this year. I sold my apple 3 watch, my phone 10 and switched to a beautiful android and watch. My only complaint is why didn’t I do it sooner. I spent half the price getting much better pictures and a fast charger and a watch that battery lasts a week.Goodbye apple it was nice knowing you.
Aadi Shaj your humour is lost on me
agree, same here.
Smart!
If you got the iphone x, then I assume you are the type of person who must get a flagship phone. What phone is half the price of the iphone x? s9 starts at $730 and pixel starts at $800. I call BS.. Also wouldn't it just be cheaper if you just hold on to your iphone x for like 5 years?!? Its even smarter to not buy a new phone EVERY year...I have an iphone 6 and it's still going strong. How many can say they still have a 4 year android phone and not crap out all the time.
The iPhone X was bought in Canada from Bell. I bought a Huawei p20 brand new but privately and paid half the price.I am a photographer and you can't compare. I sold my X and only had to add 100 dollars to get the vivosmart watch.Sorry I was not putting up with that aggravating piece of crap any longer.@@jordanaldujaili5788

Right now they’re actually lowering the price, seems like they’re switching tactics. I support it🤷♂️
why? because people will still buy anything with the apple logo
@@lucaslevon8466 thats because you apple kids are in a cult
Apple sticker + product = the "future" that is worth $500415
Simple, stop buying the latest and a lack of sales will force Apple to price reductions = supply/demand game
That's what people are missing here, though -- if Apple wasn't able to sell the products at these prices, they wouldn't be making any money. Instead, they're the most valuable company in the world. Demand clearly hasn't fallen out, it's just reduced a tad.
Well that almost as easy as advocating that if people don't fight, we will eliminate war.
I’ll say this I like my iPhone but I usually skip a generation. I have a 7 now and I probably won’t upgrade again until they release new ones next year
maybe if they sell less they will increase prices just to recover the profit, because always will be someone who will buy this crap

Maximize profits and doubling Apple's revenue, Redundant much?
Apple under Cook has doubled its revenues to $200 billion while doubling profit and tripling the amount of cash it has in the bank (now a quarter of trillion dollars).
Hello Swiftful C++ is better
I think that if Steve Jobs was here their would include the on screen touch id.
