The issue with removing the floppy disk drive that everyone forgets is that it left users with no practical method to back up their data. USB flash drives and external hard disks did not exist (and would have been painfully slow at USB 1.0 speeds). Almost no one had a home server or NAS for network file sharing. Let's praise companies for making devices less repairable, upgradable. Let's embrace more e-waste. Let's take away features. Why have a micro SD slot? Better pay Apple hundreds of bucks for a good amount of storage! Why have a 3.5mm jack for lagless audio input and output, which is useful for filming and recording audio, gaming, and more, while providing better mic and sound quality and leaving the sole USB C port available? That's so stupid, who needs that, right?
*Only actual users know that you only need to charge the Magic Mouse 2 x twice a year at max.* If anybody is complaining about flipping the mouse just twice a year, they’re just damn lazy. It does have the worst ergonomics of any mouse though - that’s no doubt.
The thin Mac books were a net negative for the laptop market. Everyone kept trying to replicate it while not accounting for the weight of the laptop, making all laptops nowadays with weak hinges and cheap chassis. The thin "feature" gave all manufacturers a perfect excuse to cheapen the cost of the build for no justifiable reason and everyone bought it.
I have been using Magic Mouse for 15 years and I have never cared or complained about the way to charge it. it charges supper fast and and battery last for a long time. is literally a non issue.
I really disagree, needing to flip the mouse over exposes the glass top of the mouse to scratches from the table. It may be a minor issue, but here's my question to you. If you have the capability to improve your product, why not do it?
It's still a stupid design. It still takes SOME time to charge, so you do have to wait for it to charge to simply start working on your computer, which is ridiculous. The port is exposed to dirt and dust. And the mouse isn't even that comfortable to use. It's just not a good design. There's no need to justify it.
I have the magic mouse. I maybe charge it for once per month. I don't care that the charge port is on the back - it is a hysteria created by apple haters.
If it's not about making money; it's to "preserve" the "Apple aesthetic" at the cost of functionality and usability. In the Magic Mouse example, having a port on the front end of the mouse would ruin the design and siluette curves. So instead, they put the charging port on the underside of the mouse itself as it hinders it's usability as it charges but not compromise it's look.
As for the touchscreen MacBook, they would rather sell you an iPad or another Apple accessory to make more money off another potential sale of an Apple product.
I've just gone onto the Apple website to look up the HomePod tech specs, and under "Compatibility", the newest compatible device is apparently the iPhone 14 series. So, does this mean that my 16 Pro won't work with it? Doubtful, but it says a lot that their own website hasn't been updated in at least two years
the thing i hate the most about them was how long they sold the Apple TV HD for along side the 4K!! you could've bought the 2015 HD, A8 powered model for $149.99 as far as 2022, while the 4K in 2022 had a A12 Bionic?? what even justified the difference?? it feels like if they continued to sell the iPhone 6 alongside the iPhone 12, sounds ridiculous!!
the one thing that i think is unreal when i use iphone is that you cannot lock anything to landscape . the lock rotation only applies to portrait and kicks your back into portrait if you are on landscape this happens in alot of apps .
Not every phone manufacturer got rid of the headphone jack. I use Sony Xperia, and it has the jack. My next eventual phone will be Xperia as well, as this is the phone I've had the least issues with, ever. And the jack is a nice bonus ☺️
I had a laptop with an optical drive but I never really used that part of it a lot. I did not consider it a waste of space really. There are caddies you can insert a 2.5 inch hard drive or SSD into that will fit where the optical drive was. Just transfer over that bracket that holds the optical drive in (the one with the impossibly tiny screw holding it) and the front of the optical drive if you want it to look normal. The speed is really not at all bad. Don't think that just because that bay was for an optical drive that the speed would be severely limited because in fact it works really well! You could even boot from a drive there if you had to so if you are good at dual booting you may even want to try an alternative OS of some kind. Just backup any files you want to keep so that you don't accidentally lose them.
am I the only one who doesn't really care about the charging port on the magic mouse? It charges pretty quick, and the battery lasts a week+. My big issue with it is just the ergonomics, it's a mouse for tiny little baby hands, and you can't really grip it at all. I use one when I'm docked at my desktop just because of the gestures, and I have to use a third party case for it just so I can actually grip it lmao I know a redesign probably won't turn it into an Mx Master 3 ergonomics wise, but I really hope they offer a bigger option and make it more handleable. It was a good mouse for the time, but holding it is just wildly uncomfortable without third party accessories, which you shouldn't really have to use.
@@weston407it is a design flaw then. Why make the user wait 10 minutes? Having used the Magic Mouse at work I know that even a 10 minute wait is long if you need to work right now. Besides, the battery degrades over time and then what? So it is a bad design. Just because people find workarounds doesn't mean it's a good design.
I enjoy my Mac but that being said I will NEVER buy a oem mouse or keyboard from Apple. They’re overpriced and feel like garbage. For the amount of money you end up spending on accessories from Apple you could go to micro center and pick up a mouse and keyboard 100 times better in that price range
iPhone 6s I use still performs as it should for being 10 years old, but iOS requirements for apps is increasingly pushing me to a upgrade i DONT NEED its not something I need its something I’m forced into, 10 years on the 6s still works great for most smartphone tasks if you dont care about looks or quality, its still snappy enough and quick, It feels great in the hand, it’s just a nice phone, it’s a absolute shame what software does to good hardware
Would be great if they sold affordable mid range products. Arm processors are cheap but they are selling them at a premium instead of bringing the price down to attract more customers. I don't need anything more powerful than an M1 and it's already discontinued and have to buy used.
Apple might bring touch screen to the Mac cause they changed the settings menu. Idk if they just fired all of the MacOS UI designers and just told the iPhone team to port it over cause my God it’s so bad. There was nothing wrong with the settings menu before. I remember a video of Steve Jobs in an interview saying it’s important to know your device and how the user interacts with it and Apple just totally forgot about that.
I have a AA Apple mouse and a lightning mouse. I dont mind either. Both last long enough that I dont care about changing batteries or charging it while I sleep. Better than wired IMO
I use wired mouse. Far more durable, don’t need to buy batteries every now and then, and the best thing: no interference nor latency that gets in the way, causing random delays when clicking.
When Apple changed the Mac processor from ARM to Intel and no longer supported OS upgrades for their legacy computers, they made these legacy computers into door stops. They will probably do the same thing to intel processors in favor of their inhouse M chip processors.
The M series chips are ARM, the architecture they used before Intel x86 was PowerPC, which is the same thing the Wii, PS3, and Xbox 360 use (which is why some of these consoles can be hacked to run classic Mac OS)
Because on a laptop a keyboard without a numpad is more comfortable to type on with it centered in front of you. If you need a numpad you can use an external one instead of having it making the keyboard annoying to use the rest of the time.
I would LOVE for them to bridge the gap between the iPad and a laptop (with a software update) - I think ipadOS needs a massive overhaul and shouldn't just be basically the same as iOS
I always assumed that Apple got rid of things when they had no control of the supply chain and the design issues were a legacy of the Johhny Ive era and his obsession with minimalism
It feels like after Johnny Ive left Apple has started getting """""better""""", like having front USBs on the Mac Mini (still needs more) and the new slightly 3D UI. Minimalism isn't about getting rid of everything and living off with little, it's about getting rid of everything you don't need and only keeping what you do need.
Steve Jobs guided Apple to being able to thrive under Tim Cook, now they need someone who is pro consumer and who would inevitably turn the company into what some may say is just another android phone manufacturer. But, that's what a good pro consumer company is, just another Android phone manufacturer.
@ Oh definitely. But I'm talking about android manufacturers in their current form. An open source Apple where everything is open source, including their operating systems themselves, would be glorious!
@Techlifeandmore easily the worst take I've ever seen. Apple is the most innovative and successful company of the last 50 years specifically because they think different. Apple becoming another android company would be a travesty on a scale the world has never seen. I'm serious, it would be really devastating. Hope they clap back at the EU for their silliness also.
6:29 hahaha the millennial version of this was the apple DVI to VGA dongle and then a couple years later the mini displayport to VGA dongle (I graduated college in 2012)
They’ve had one since the 2021 14”pros came out. Personally doesn’t bother me since that’s space that would otherwise be occupied by the menu bar, but if you like to hide that I can see it being a problem
It’s an awful mouse, I could not use it at work. It never worked how I expected, could never right click, which I use constantly, click-hold and drag was impossible. That’s not even mentioning the unfathomably stupid placement for the charging port. Wireless mice just aren’t worth the hassle in general IMO.
Does anybody remember the one button mouse. Apple refused to add more buttons for years. Clearly I should’ve watched more than 3 min to comment since 1 button mice come up towards the end.
My first computer was a Commadore 64 (Which I still have) while my friend had an Apple IIE. At work, I even had the original MAC on my desktop. Over the years, I have owned and used many computers and liked some and hated others. The debate as to which computer system and operating system is better is kind of a silly argument. Free thinkers like Microsoft based computers better because they can be easily updated and even legacy computers are still supported. Apple is a domineering company that wants to control the hardware and the software that it provides and makes it difficult or impossible to upgrade their existing computers. Apple tends to have terrific industrial design for their computers but reliability and functionality are no better than many PCs. Apple markets their computers to artists, video makers, musicians and students. Their is an aura that Apple can do these jobs faster and easier than PCs. This may have been true in the past, but new PCs are just as capable of doing these jobs just as well. I love my iPhone and my iWatch and appreciate how they work together but my computer is a Dell Windows 11 pro PC with an Intel i7 processor with 32 Gig of internal memory and a 1 T SSD and a 1 T hard drive. I bought this computer about 4 months ago from Amazon refurbished for $350. It has more power than I will ever need.
I don't get the fuss about the Magic Mouse. I've been using it for years, almost all day long. It lasts for more than a month and when it reaches 5-10%, I plug it before I go to sleep. I think that reviewers are too fixated over a non-issue. Besides, with this form factor, where would you put the charging port? The bottom is the only logical option.
I really disagree, needing to flip the mouse over exposes the glass top of the mouse to scratches from the table. It may be a minor issue, but here's my question to you. If you have the capability to improve your product, why not do it?
when i went to school they had apple computers, despite all the mouses being charged either every day or every few days there was still always loads of them that would run out and because they weren't laptops there was so way to use them so there would always be someone that couldn't work during the class (they do have windows computers too but they couldn't use them for this class because of garageband)
I like apples design, I like certain ideas, there is a smoothness to i. But yeah also a lot of BS. Apple Users will tell you "You get used to it" But ... there are better designs and ways to do things. There just are. And that is before the APPLE TAX hits, oh $200 for a bigger SSD or more Memory. Thank you apple...

I don’t like em on the iPhones either or macs, I like bezels cause it makes it easier to hold the devices and it houses stuff so it’s not taking the screen space
Apple Stubborn? Yes because people keep throwing money at them no matter how terrible some choices are Sunk cost fallacy in the ecosystem is kinda true, it feels so bad leaving them so you are stuck paying crazy premium prices
The battery of the mouse lasts literally weeks, if you charge it for a minute you could probably use it for another 24hrs, which you wont, so in between those 24hrs you can charge it enough to go for another day (i still hate the mouse tho)
This is a DUMB video. I bought a M1 and am so impressed with its speed that I switched to an iphone. I would NEVER touch a screen. Good things do cost a bit and so many idiots complain about their M4 pad as it stresses the users low brain.
I disagree with you Josh. If you think Apple is stubborn and yet you still buy their products, then youre the problem because you’re getting mind tricked by them.
Also no face id (yet) on macbooks. If you're gonna put that notch monstrosity on your notebooks, at least make it useful. Windows computers have had a basic level of face authentication for years. (Windows hello) mixed ecosystem (windows, macos, android) user here.
quick answer - why are they stubborn? Because they are just a typical example of today's prime generation - they will not admit fault, they will not acknowledge negative comments. The only time when they HAD TO do it as it spiralled out of control was the bandgate. Of course, they were legally forced to provide replacements for various issues over the years, but it was always as hush-hush as possible.
Lol and it boils down to one thing, there so innovative and think of solutions before anyone else 🤣, i still remember that saying when the headphone jack removal

I’m a simple man. I just want to keep my lightning cable. From an engineering standpoint, USB-C will never be as robust as the lightning. 1 solid object going into one negative space will always beat an object with negative space going into a negative space with an object in it.
But it’s better, faster, and more universal. Customer experience wise that far outweighs durability. Also the port itself is larger which is easier to plug into
@@50Steaks68 Faster? When is the last time you transferred something to your phone using the cable? I can't even remember but it's been probably something like 10 years ago. Only benefit i can see is the fact i can charge my iPhone with same cable i use to charge my notebook. But to be honest i still carry 2 cables so i can charge them both at the same time so the advantage isn't that important.
Yep, lightning is a much more durable port and technically a better port from a design standpoint. If lightning wasn't proprietary, I guarantee it would be used everywhere. USB-C would quickly be phased out

*Only actual users know that you only need to charge the Magic Mouse 2 x twice a year at max.*
If anybody is complaining about flipping the mouse just twice a year, they’re just damn lazy.
Literally same I don’t let those small things bother me
It's still a stupid design.
I use a magic trackpad for my ipad and charge it like once a year
If it's not about making money; it's to "preserve" the "Apple aesthetic" at the cost of functionality and usability.
Love these types of videos fr keep it up :,)
Not every phone manufacturer got rid of the headphone jack.
I use one when I'm docked at my desktop just because of the gestures, and I have to use a third party case for it just so I can actually grip it lmao
I know a redesign probably won't turn it into an Mx Master 3 ergonomics wise, but I really hope they offer a bigger option and make it more handleable. It was a good mouse for the time, but holding it is just wildly uncomfortable without third party accessories, which you shouldn't really have to use.
Don’t like it don’t buy it.. 🤷♂️
the magic mouse problem is a non-issue.
It kind of is
It's a massive design flaw.
it's dumb, it's like saying how there's no way to use your apple pencil while it's charging - it takes like 10 minutes to get a usable charge
They don’t call em CRAPPLE for nothin.....
Install Linux on them
Why doesn't Apple makes their laptops with number pads?
Any other 'Android Manufacturer' would definitely go full Apple when given the chance. We've seen a glimpse of it on Samsung.
Hope they clap back at the EU for their silliness also.
i switched to android when i was done with my iphone 8 a couple years ago. for me apple was inexistant when jobs left for higher pastures
A touch screen mac is a dumb idea. Windows tried and it failed.
The last monologue from steve is interesting because i think apple vision pro goes completely against it.
6:29 hahaha the millennial version of this was the apple DVI to VGA dongle and then a couple years later the mini displayport to VGA dongle (I graduated college in 2012)
Remember iTunes Ping?
Yeah nobody.
All the clips of younger Steves, I keep seeing Ashton.
Wait macbooks have a NOTCH now??
They’ve had one since the 2021 14”pros came out.
Personally doesn’t bother me since that’s space that would otherwise be occupied by the menu bar, but if you like to hide that I can see it being a problem
The ergonomics are the worst mouse in existence. lmfao
Short answer: too big to fail
It’s an awful mouse, I could not use it at work. It never worked how I expected, could never right click, which I use constantly, click-hold and drag was impossible. That’s not even mentioning the unfathomably stupid placement for the charging port.
Wireless mice just aren’t worth the hassle in general IMO.
Why do we need a touch screen laptop? Touch screen laptops are a gimmic and this is coming from a PC gamer.
Apple makes technology for people that don't know anything about technology. A touch screen laptop is just too much for their fans.
Does anybody remember the one button mouse. Apple refused to add more buttons for years. Clearly I should’ve watched more than 3 min to comment since 1 button mice come up towards the end.
They’ve had one button mice for years. Dating back to the 80s and 90s.
Short answer: greed💵
Since when was Windows for "free thinkers"?
Releasing the best computer ever the 2019 Mac Pro, then rushing to make it obsolete by releasing M1 chip a few months later
Why not
13:36 can’t innovate my anymore ass
Erm, how about not use this form factor, lol??
I like apples design, I like certain ideas, there is a smoothness to i.
But yeah also a lot of BS.
Apple Users will tell you "You get used to it" But ... there are better designs and ways to do things. There just are.
And that is before the APPLE TAX hits, oh $200 for a bigger SSD or more Memory. Thank you apple...
You have opinions I disagree with, usually the UA-camrs that have opposing opinions to mine tell the truth instead of pandering to Apple, good on you!
Ergonomics in Magic Mouse? Lol 😂 I wouldn't put those two in the same sentence.
Hmm, what this video tells me is what I already know. Apple is a very polarizing empire and it's take it or leave it.
Next will be the camera control for the iPhone 😂 the most useless button
I'm watching this video on a 2015 macBook Pro. By 2021 I was considering replacement, but--- then they came out with a new macBook Pro with a stupid notch! So I'm not upgrading my macBook Pro until the goddamn notch nobody asked for is removed! Period!
I don’t like em on the iPhones either or macs, I like bezels cause it makes it easier to hold the devices and it houses stuff so it’s not taking the screen space
I use the 5 watt lightning charger on my iPhone SE 3.
Apple lacked their innovation and kept asking people for money. This is why competitors kept innovating nonstop.
Apple Stubborn? Yes because people keep throwing money at them no matter how terrible some choices are
Sunk cost fallacy in the ecosystem is kinda true, it feels so bad leaving them so you are stuck paying crazy premium prices
Time is money.
And you're about to be penniless real soon.
Yeah…USB A has seen its day. It’s over with, and belongs in the back storage room with the serial port devices.
The battery of the mouse lasts literally weeks, if you charge it for a minute you could probably use it for another 24hrs, which you wont, so in between those 24hrs you can charge it enough to go for another day (i still hate the mouse tho)
Where did you get those numbers? A minute of charging for 24h? I don't think that's true.
(Windows hello)
mixed ecosystem (windows, macos, android) user here.
its because they believe in their products. sometimes to their own detriment. but it also allows them to pursue a vision that drives change.
quick answer - why are they stubborn? Because they are just a typical example of today's prime generation - they will not admit fault, they will not acknowledge negative comments. The only time when they HAD TO do it as it spiralled out of control was the bandgate. Of course, they were legally forced to provide replacements for various issues over the years, but it was always as hush-hush as possible.
I use my wireless mouse wired lol. I play competitive games
😁 He said it like it is. Nice...👏🏾
1:42 DetroitBORG 😢😢😢😢 I wish he made new videos
Lol and it boils down to one thing, there so innovative and think of solutions before anyone else 🤣, i still remember that saying when the headphone jack removal
I love iPads but that’s all about apple.
I want iPad because of IOS. And drawing .
Android tablets are cheaper and have SD card 1TB or more to put entire movies and shows offline
But I choose iPad because I’m used to it and like iOS too.
However I never buy iPhone because phones are personal. And while I don’t trust google , I need my phone to be mine. Side loading apps or having options.
As for laptops I have gaming laptop . Macs are good for battery with m1 chip but I like gaming laptop so far if I had to mix.
M1 for office work and college but you can’t play games in break. Or work lunch
0:28 massive??
They get a shower of every single accessory that uses lithing port, basically everything that has a for iPhone sticker
Ergonomics 😂
4:30 no touchscreen laptops are extremely stupid unless they also fold . so they need to make a both folding and touchscreen mac at the same time . i have a sibling that has a folding and touchscreen windows laptop and guess what after playing with that gimmick for 2 months they completely forgot about it and used the laptop normally
hay 91 tech I heard that PlayStation is going to work with apple but idk if it's true or not and idk if you heard about it
That's why I don't want use apple products much more. Not worth it. We have better options. Apple have becomes annoying stupid
Also the port itself is larger which is easier to plug into
You are too simple of a man. Any proprietary thing sucks, you hear me?
Jokes on you I just need 1 cable for all my devices no more crappy lightening. Hail the mighty usb C 😎🙌
USB-C would quickly be phased out
I don’t want a bunch of app stores on iPhone. As the user it’s fine with just one App Store.
Control
💸🤑
Thanks. I'll buy a Samsung.
There are other options besides these two too y'know
Pure Greed
Touch Screen laptop makes no sense
1. It need a whole different operating systems
2. Its tiring to have your hand up and poking your screen
Makes no sense
Ipados
