Hi all SUPER late to the party but been running sefris since her release. 10:21 just a quick one here tokens won’t trigger sefris’ ability when they die because sefris needs the card to hit the grave
You really hit the sweet spot between brief and detailed with this tech, and I'm not just saying that because sefris got me playing blue cards after 9 years of magic. Easy subscription from me, keep up the awesome work.
Great analysis. Love my Sefris deck. The one disagreement I have is with the Serra’s Emissary. Neither the dungeon nor the initiative would have a card type. The dungeon exists in the command zone, outside the battlefield, and the initiative is probably an emblem. Neither are cards in the same sense that tokens won’t trigger Sefris because they are not cards.
I am going to do some tweaking to my serfris deck but I recommend; dungeon delver, riptide laboratory, saw in half, Elesh Norn MOM, feywild caretaker, obscura charm, demon's disciple, merciless executioner, Reveillark, Bone Shredder, Saverok's Tome, Spark Double, Karmic Guide. I took out a lot of the looters I found I really didn't need them much with how much I was going through the dungeon.
I did play around with the spark double/Sakashima route, but often found that I was churning through the dungeons without them. I just happen to be big on consistency with my decks and those cheap looters get the job done! I am going to heart this comment though because I love your recommendations! Cheers!
@Tempest-Official thats fair, i think you might be right about that. Though i will say I use a lot more of the creatures that ETB venture or initiative, they do double duty, they serve as blockers, and when they die I go through the dungeon and can eventually get them back.
Just found out your channel, I just love your approach in terms of deck building philosophy and strategy. Regarding your decklist, I feel like Sefris doesn't have enough protection. Sefris is your main engine in this deck and you also want to, possibly, trigger her on every turn, so you can reanimate a thing every turn cycle. My best advice is to run small 1 drops who can sacrifice themsleves for free/cheap : Alseid of Life's Bounty, Siren Stormtamer, Selfless Savior. Selfless Spirit is also a HOUSE once your board is filled up so you can lock it down. The worst that can happen to you is to lose Sefris on turn 3 or 4 to a random removal (or against a responsible opponent who fears Sefris, like it should). But with them boys on the board, nobody's gonna waste a removal knowing you can protect her and reanimate the little protection creature. Maybe it'll cut some of your 3 drops because you already want to play Sefris as soon as possible on turn 3. Did you tried out From the Catacombs ? It may seems a bit expensive : a 5 mana, single target reanimation spell isn't great, but it's on theme with the iniative, and you can cast it multiple times from your graveyard by paying its Escape cost. It may suit you if you end up filling your graveyard enough so you can just exile lands, instants, or small creatures. Nonetheless, it's already a great list and yeah, Solar Angel is such an amazing card in dungeon decks.
Got the sudden urge to improve my Sefris deck. This video gave me some great ideas! Can't wait to improve my first commander deck a couple years later!
Good budget cards/mana fixing/ way to trigger sefris on any turn. Any creature with plains/swamp/Island cycle creatures. They are usually 1 mana. Good to reanimate if you have nothing good. And taking a dual/tri land feels good Also victimize is a good sac/reanimate card for the deck. Sac 1 for the sefris trigger and reanimate 2 combo pieces or key role players or flat out bombs
I was not searching for this... I'm improving my Mind Flayer theme deck rn, but oh my that Archon of cruelty is going to be a new partner to my Sefris, and the ideas of Elesh Norn and Massacre Worm... I like them... Sheoldred always underperformed in my pots, so I decided to do a Karmic Guide/Sister Hospitalet reanimation chain to win through dungeon triggers. If you didn't try that way, it's really fun to have copies of Radiant solar and go infinite :3 Was fun to watch, a really clean video, I enjoyed, thanks!
Thats a realy nice deck. I run more interactions in mine on opponents turn like Viscera Seer, Woe Strider, Ashnods Altar, also Phyrexian Tower + Reasembling Skeleton is also nuts 'cus you trigger Sefris, and gets skeleton back to the board to be sacrificed on next opponent turn from many other sources. Same is with grave recursion on a stick like Reeilark, Karmic Guide, Luminous Broodmoth, Sepulchral Primordial and Living Death, Wake the Dead, Breach the Multiverse. Since my version have many ways to sac my creatures Pitiless Plunderer is sweet there to. For more board wipe i run Cataclysm Gearhulk and Massacre Girl.
I totally agree. I LOVE playing for flavor, but Dungeon Descent just always feels bad to have. :( I literally NEVER used it because there are better things for us to do with our mana.
@@Tempest-Official I tried it anyway I. My sefris deck, and was a fail. Had cauldron of souls and even with the awesome ability, coupled with Vizier of Remedies, it didn't go as planned. I went full dickhead mode and added Yawgmoth as well as Jin Gitaxias Core augur. Thanks for the vid, was helpful in tuning the deck
Best dungeon mechanic commander is actually Hama Pashar, Ruin Seeker. Sefris is easy to punish, the deck tends to not be focused enough and tries to do a bit of several strategies, all while straying from the dungeon theme to play general good stuff a lot of the time. To get enough advantage out of her, she needs to stick around for seceral turns and this forces you into a mid-range strategy. The deck also encourages playing expensive reanimation packages, good stuff staples, and potentially a more expensive mana base because you are in 3 colors. You can build Hama as a U/B flicker combo deck that usually wins around turn 6-7 with dungeons for like $50. Infinite dungeons go Brrrrrr.

tokens hit the grave bro
@@workingandcommentingyes but tokens aren’t cards. Sefris has a strict requirement for the creature to be a card.

Benevolent Bodyguard and Jirina, dauntless general 🙏

cathar commando is a new option for her

I really like your videos. You should have way more subs
Is the undercity better? Should this deck focus more on initiative or venture? If you must go through a dungeon with venture, which dungeons is best?
I wish Dungeon Descent was upgarded like they did in arena. In mtg arena it only costs 1 generic to activate. It would then be playable in the deck

The skeleton token form the lost Mine of Phandelver dont trigger sefris, right?
nope, sefris has a neat keyword "whenever a creature card" that means tokens don't trigger him since tokens aren't cards :)
got this precon as a birtday gift, is really different or do i have to change a lot of cards from the original to get this version of the deck
Thanks man, you help me a lot. Give my follow! :) a hi from brazil :D

Great take! I’ve found Kamiz, Obscura Oculus to be the best dungeon commander. Buncha thief’s raiding tombs :)
Sorry do you have a list about that Hama deck?
