    Those tires are brutal for getting flat. I ordered three extra and 3 out of 9 arrived flat. Lol
    If anyone is considering these, only get them if you plan to do off-road downhill, on a hard packed surface with loose gravel, ideally.
    And, yeah, Kaze is not a good choice for boot; more support is needed.
    Fun downhill runs!

      With a lift ticket to the top of the hill lol. also, downhill needs to be very non technical.

      Same problem. I had 50% flat tires and its a hell to replace this. Have the shop where you bought them replace the wheels. dont fall for it and do it yourself.

    I dont know if you know this but most valve issues are the valve stems, they are replaceable. You can buy a tool for real cheap or use the tool on a bottle fix a flat for bikes. When i used to cycle i would check my stems on my maintenance days. Have fun and keep having fun!

    13:00 I found that when I Max my air pressure out on my Kaze Tundras to 100 PSI I get a much better performance on and off road with them. Whenever they are softer and they are not maxed out to 100 PSI it takes a lot of energy out of me and they drag a lot... almost to the point to where it feels like it's not worth it. So I recommend to Max them all the way out. It also feels like if I were to trip it would be harder for me to catch my footing because of the longer frame of the skates. So I have to be extra careful with these skates. Thank you for the video. 😁

    I’m so torn between getting a powerslide or rollerblade or Seba for my second pair. But those off-road frames seem sooooo nice right now given we have just a little touch of snow in the ground and I think I’m having blading withdraw even though I’ve been to the indoor skatepark a number of times. I guess I’m just missing the ability to just go at a moments notice.

  • @buca669
    @buca669 6 років тому +4

    Cool video and nice comparison, man. Me and the guys here who skate on the nordics with 150 wheels, we overpressurize them. There's pressure limit on the wheel 90PSI or so and for a good ride without the soft feeling we put 100 or even 110psi. Some say, the good pieces can withstand 140 long time, but that's a pressure I haven't gone to personally :-)

    • @RicardoLino
      @RicardoLino  6 років тому +3

      ** Buca wow. That’s crazy. 140 is like rock.don’t they explode ???

    • @buca669
      @buca669 6 років тому +1

      Haven't heard of exploding tyres. They wear more (maybe then after hitting something sharp at speed with worn tyres?) but we're still talking long distances (hundreds of km) riding on bad quality pavement and/or hard gravel. Cause the nordic skates are not good for real terrain - you know, the length. Downhill the speed helps and it runs over bumps a lot (grass hills). But while striding you need quite wide, flat and hard track especially without the one way bearings.
      Apart of punctures, the only fault I got was a shitty new inner tube. After mounting the valve tore off the tube while inflating. It was around 100PSI and the valve suddenly just turned to side I was pushing, followed by few seconds of hissss..
      Btw. I saw only one place selling the SUV 125 frames separately from boots... some canadian shop. Doesn't powerslide plan to start selling them? With 150s it's the same, you can buy tundras but Justin Verbeski in the videos is just changing frames on his tau boots. Can ordinary people ever get to this? I don't need 5 pairs of skates :-D

    Back in the 90s I machinist do I know went ahead and made extended frames out of aluminum to match up with the frames that are already on his inline skates that's allowed you to just run small bicycle rims and tires one of the front one in the back

      THE LINO LIFE so since I have the imperial 125's I could just buy the SUV wheels and be good to go? I'm currently living in New Mexico USA where it's mostly desert and the roads are more than rough, I've been skating around Bill stoppard Style but your feet go numb after a couple miles from the vibration, I'm thinking the SUV wheels are my solution

    • @ejolguin73
      @ejolguin73 6 років тому

      Mark Miller just watch out for the quicksand lol get a kite to pull you or a big hot air balloon lol ....oh and dust sand or dirt won't hurt the bearings just water or oil

    • @InlineDownhillVancouver
      @InlineDownhillVancouver 6 років тому +1

      Mark, you can't combine the alpine wheels with a regular urethane wheel frame. The alpine wheels are wider and take a wider bearing.
      What you can do is buy the offroad frame with the alpine wheels and then put 125 or 150mm urethane wheels in them; you just need spacers. Not ideal for everything, but you can do it.

      Note that rubber inflated tires and greased bearings are REALLY slow for flat pushing.

    Love your vlogs. Keep up the good work. I've recently brought my first pair of inlines since I was a kid. I decided on the aeon 60. As you are the man that can, I was wondering what the biggest size can be fitted on peons as I have noticed a 2mm gap between the wheel and sole plate. What hardness, shape and size would you recommend and what bearings are best in you opinion.

  • @animalobsessed1

    I've been skating on regular skates, on regular roads, with my dogs pulling for years. I want to switch to off-road skates because softer surfaces are better for their joints. Is there any particular skate you would recommend?
    I would still need some ability to propel myself, but not as much as someone who's skating on their own, doing all the work themselves. I use the brakes on my skates to stop, but I've looked it up and they do sell brakes separately for off-road skates. I don't need the ability to do a whole bunch of tricks (I don't have the skill for tricks anyway). I would like to be able to turn fast enough though, to control the dogs in emergency situations.
    I've been thinking either a 125mm skate with 3 wheels, or a 150mm on 2 wheels...?

  • @johnwheeler3294
    @johnwheeler3294 6 років тому +2

    Just a thought, regarding tire pressure. Could you use tire pressure to create a bit of a rocketing effect. Say 7 bar on the middle wheel and 6 bar on the outter. Would that maybe help the 150s.I know you had a flat, but just a thought.

    • @RicardoLino

    Ricardo, I realize it's been a few years since you posted on SUV skates. I recently bought a pair and man! is it hard work! Most of my trails are single track so there isn't really enough room to really glide and get momentum. I was wondering if you've ever used ski poles to assist in those types of spots. I'm going to try that as soon as I can get back out after mending from my last crash! Ouch!

    how do you think the 3x125 pneumatics would be for city skating? have you tried it?
    i like the idea of big pneumatic wheels to handle terrible road conditions, and I don't really want to go super fast as I'm constatnly dealing with red lights and traffic, also I want a good workout without having to go super fast
    BUT, i don't want them to be ridiculously slow like skating 54mm anti rocker

  • @jbensonsva
    @jbensonsva 6 років тому +2

    how do you feel about the Kaze boot? I have the Kaze SUV and am working on my personal review. But I found they are very uncomfortable. No arch support in the foot. I feel they lack some ankle support being a soft boot. I know you said less responsive and more comfortable which I found interesting. And they tend to pinch my toes down where they lace. I love the skates but find them to leave lots to desire. They really need a hardboot 150mm SUV.

    • @RicardoLino
      @RicardoLino  6 років тому +2

      JunkNBlades humm? I don’t feel like they are uncomfortable. Obviously different feet require different skates. But I understand what you say about support. I guess the foams are a bit to thick , but if you want to hack them . Just put some lace holes high on the boot. Makes a huge diference and I think the new ones that arrived this week already have that stock 👌🏼😊

    • @InlineDownhillVancouver
      @InlineDownhillVancouver 6 років тому +2

      I don't know why a soft boot comes with 150mm off-road skates; more support is needed for better response and control.

    • @jbensonsva
      @jbensonsva 6 років тому +1

      Interesting. I kind of thought maybe it was just my feet. I guess my problem is they are so "short" at the toe so I cannot add in a full foot shock absorber/arch support. Hopefully there is a hardboot trinity coming that would be like the imperial so one could swap the frames over. Almost wished I went with the imperial SUV instead but I do love the 150mm as the larger tires glide over almost anything!

    • @jbensonsva
      @jbensonsva 6 років тому +1

      Agreed! I feel like maybe they were testing out the idea of off-road skates without investing in much other than the frames. I am sure if the interest was high enough they would develop a completely different boot to match with those frames.

    • @geu6270

      None, don't get them the physics of them kinda suck and don't work well at all off road unless you are the robot. Everyone does reviews of em them throws them in the closet or sends them back. Even advanced distance speed skaters hate em. Get a mountain bike instead for off road which are lots of fun. (I know I had a pair of the PS 150x3 and sold them. ) Btw, I have allot of 125x3 on road skates; it is all I ride.

    Hello Lino, I would like to ask you for advice, I want to get a pair of off roads but worried about the fit most of all. I have wide feet with bent arches basically a disaster of feet. I had to invest in custom made ski boots to gain the comfort and control needed. Which boot would you recommend for someone like me. Generally, I prefer hard boots because they support more. Should I go for the imperial but I love the trinity idea but worried about the kaze with big wheels and a soft boot, I am not the best skater. Should I wait for the next renegade? I would really appreciate your advice.

    Anyone try a little offroading with just a 125mm skate? Not those rubber tire ones. I've messed around with 110's and they can be okay if the dirt isn't super soft and full of rocks. The thought of switching from pavement to dirt to grass and back again seems like fun! I wonder if it's possible with just a 125 skate.

      Freda Latou I bet the question was about using regular wheels made for the pavement, not on use cases of polyurethane as a material.
      Steven King - there used to be even 100 mm offroad wheels. Some people can get through bumpy surfaces/light terrain on very small wheels. But what happens if you take a turn with a lot of dirt or water under your wheels? Will they grip? OTOH it's not like those things would explode if you try slowly :)

    Thanks a lot from France guys. At the moment, I'm running Marathons with 3X125 inline rollerblade shoes & Powerslide frame + French Roll'X wheels but I think I'm going to try outback 2X150 skates or 3X125 but the problem is that I'm not only running on paths, I've got a lot of road to do where I skate & I'm afraid the rolling may not be as quick with rubber wheels. Yet, it enables you to take paths & I really feel like it. What would you buy if you had such a scenario ? PS : you should have 2 rubber spare wheels with you :)

    Hey! I recently took up rollerblading, about a month ago now, and am nowhere near pro, but I'm slowly slowly getting there (and definitely having fun!) However, there aren't many places where I live that are rollerblade friendly, and I've recently seen A LOT of stuff about off road skating, and it looks so fun! There are a lot of places on my doorstep I could do the off roading! I just wondered if it's the type of skating I could take up now where I'm at with skating, after only a month, or if it's the type of thing you'd recommend I wait to try until I'm better and more confident on regular rollerblades?? I'd really appreciate your feedback! :) Thanks!
