  • Been riding the Them 909 Ridder skates for the last 6 months. Wanted to give a final impressions review after riding the skates, what I changed, and my opinions on the setup.

After getting the Sway Farmer '22 I can't stop praising the liners for the level of customization. Some may not like the puffy Crown liner, which is understandable, but there's a removable tongue stiffener insert and removable cuff wraps that have a huge impact on performance and feel. I highly recommend wraps (although I've never seen them sold separately) if you have too much space after breaking in your liners. They're wonderful for adding support and help immensely with heel lock.

My issue wasn’t that the liner was loose on my foot, it was that the liner became too loose in the shell because the shell is too big for the liner. Glad to hear such positive feedback on the sways, I seriously considered them.

Nice informative follow up review, definitely good to see how things hold up over time. Interested to see how you go with the UFR’s I got pair when I came back to aggressive about 5 months ago really enjoyed them but riding new Farmer sways at the moment (won them in a Facebook raffle😆), but will come back to the UFR’s at some point

I’m excited to try the UFR with the CO frames. I was looking at the Farmers but keep hearing that forward flex is something else…

@@Jordan.Skates yeah they do have a good bit of forward flex, but I’ve swapped out the crown liners out for some reign V3’s (which I had in my UFR’s) and honestly when I’m actually skating them it doesn’t feel bad at all. Planning to get some intuition premium liners soon though, then possibly do a freestyle/wizard-ish set up on my UFR’s

@@Peteskates I would figure with how puffy the crowns are, they would provide some additional stiffness to resist forward flex. Interesting.

@@Jordan.Skates although there puffy there actually quite soft/cushioned in the ankle, even with the plastic inserts in the V3’s are a lot stiffer

How often do you skate? Just curious since they seem to be wearing down pretty quick for you in a lot of ways. I just got a pair this week so I'm curious to see if/when I'll be noticing these things. I feel a big thing I've noticed so far is it's harder to switch up on the rail. I'm coming from skating primarily Razors and I felt I could just kind of flick my feet into new grinds whereas with these I have to commit a lot more. I agree it seems almost all skates these days need some kind of adjustments. I wonder if partially it's as you said, we're older now and can afford to be a little picky or if it's also the internet too. It's easy to fall into certain opinions when you see everyone else commenting on it. I feel like back in the day we only knew what we had and just assumed we had to deal with it so it was fine lol.

I skate 4-5 times a week for at least an hour per session

I should also add that I had to add a 4mm intuition insole and cinch down with waxed laces to get more control of the boot as the liner was moving around in the shell. Think this led to power transfer and missing trick issues for me. Let me know how these work out for you!
