Oreo looks at Josh as competition for his Mommy. Once he realizes that there is enough love for the both of you, he will calm down, at least a little.

@@ANationalguy The thing that I find interesting is that Oreo came from the boyfriend's family's property? So, maybe on top of the territoriality, there's some bad association with his former life? Josh has got a great attitude. I just couldn't help thinking that this is a surmountable behavior issue. I wish them luck.
Josh is such a great guy! He's accepted Oreo as he is and continues to pursue what appears to be a one sided friendship 😉
he protec he attac
have no other option. be friends with the cat or get single 😆
He tortures the cat but the cat is the pack leader.
He’s too scared and timid when the cat continually asks him not to touch his stuff. But Josh still does anyway. Against the cats will bc he thinks he knows what the cat wants more.
How would you like it if someone keep touching your stuff when you asked them not to?
Would you call them accepting if they kept forcing their touch on you?
@@renatoigmed that’s chick needs a new man if he can’t stand up to a cat. I’d hate to see him down a dark alley protecting his girl.
You see his twinkle toes as he back steps in fear. A pussycat sacred of a pussycat swipe. Lol. The cat is the alpha male. Josh is second best, maybe
Pets can tell bad people
I absolutely love that josh chose to earn Oreos trust rather than just ignoring and avoiding the cat. Hes good ppl. Hopefully Oreo one day will agree
If Josh would ignore the cat, the cat would feel comfortable coming over to see him! He is being too aggressive and also petting poor Oreo from the wrong angle.
Josh is a great guy. It’s hilarious when he says,”I love Oreo even though he hates me.”
It’s going to take time for Oreo to get relaxed around Josh.
Oreo is INTENSELY territorial about his Mom, things and home. Josh is a threat, an interloper. Josh has to do more feeding and PLAYING with Oreo, so Oreo will learn to regard Josh as a friend.
👍❤️
Will not work if a cat dont like his smell behavoiur this will not work
Food is a good advice to peace but oreo sees him as a rival he protect his owner cats can be jelous and protective over owner and dont like to share with Stranger they usually dont like the smell behaviour or vioce of the new person

Round of applause for Josh and his calm patience with Oreo! That’s a lot of love and kindness and it’s wonderful to see.
Lol ok so, as amusing as it was to watch, I’m guessing this is both of your first time with an outside kitty? Remember, he’s had to fight for everything that he’s ever needed or wanted in his life thus far; food, shelter, his own territory. I adopted 2 kittens who had grown up feral, & although I’d grown up on a farm with feral kitties, owning them was a completely different ball game. They taught me so much patience.
He needs stimulating; he needs places to hide, to scratch, to jump, think of large cat trees (you can get them where they attach to the ceiling - they just slot in), kitty shelves for the wall, boxes with cut outs for him to entertain himself, he’s used to all of that outside space & suddenly he’s confined & it’s likely overwhelming for him. Have your boyfriend feed him sometimes, he’ll see both of you as his provider. Groom him - although he’s short haired, it can bring a sense of calm to them & de-stress, but go gentle, I just buy little combs from the pound shop (dollar store?) - no need to buy fancy brushes, it does the job & my kitties loved it. Let him sniff it, rub his face against it, just stroke his face with it to begin with & build his trust up with it.
Treats are great! But try not to reward bad behaviour. If he’s lashing out & you’re then giving him treats, in his mind he thinks well.. I’ll do that more often! Cats are far more intelligent than most people realise lol.
But yes.. patience is key. Try not to mess with his bedding either. If he loves a certain pillow, let him be, as that obviously brings him comfort.
Thank you for your kindness in helping this little guy out! X
excellent advice! these people are very kind and mean well, but they're not really understanding the cat's needs. messing with his pillow, clearly a source of comfort to the poor cat, only makes him feel more days insecure, hence his lashing out. I hope they try to learn more about cat behaviour for the cat's sake, as well as their own. I feel sorry for the cat, actually.
GREAT advice!!
@@dhutch13 I was thinking the same thing. He's clearly a very sweet cat! But some of his spicy behavior is probably a reaction to his own fear, discomfort, and/or insecurity. I think these people truly love him but they might not understand how to interact with him. Thank you both for your comments, great advice all around!
And try to not corner the cat or approach him from above. He feels threatened.
If you have a gift for him, place it some meters away on the floor, let him investogate on his terms what this new strange smelling thing is.
Remember allways: cats do not understand human. A direct look is a threat for a cat. Approaching them on a direct line is a threat. Making sounds CAN be seen as a threat depending on how well the cat understands that humans communicate with sound to be friendly. Adult cats usually do not do that with each other.
This cat probably does not at all hate this men. He is just scared and overwhelmed by the very blunt and noisy approaches of this giant being.
It was kind of you to adopt the two kitties and take the time to write so many helps tips. The one thing I would add is he needs places to put his scent (like the cat tree you mentioned) since they are territorial.
He has been through so much and is afraid of losing his loving mommy and home. He is just protecting his space. Poor kitty
No, you're projecting. He's stressed out and these big objects make it more difficult for him.

Yep. It's going to work out, it will just take some time. When I started dating my now-wife, her cats were uppity about me being around. They became loves with me, though.
this is absolutely relatable. my mom's cat, Lucy, is a tuxedo cat as well who we rescued from a barn - my very first memory is of this little cat hissing and attacking the dog cage trying to get at me. seven years in, she's an absolute sweetheart and definitely my mom's cat.

I can't stop laughing at this whole scene. Oreo has a mind of his own and is quite a character. Oreo will eventually give in after many fights.🥳
It is not in a cat’s nature to give up in this kind of situation. If Josh wants his trust, he’s going to have to earn it.
I had a cat named Jake who somehow knew when I was talking to a male on the phone. It didn’t have to be my boyfriend and it also happened when I talked to my brother- but he would come where I was sitting and stare me down until I got off the phone! Never did it if I was talking to a female - only male phone members.
Cat doesn't hate the boyfriend, he hates being threatened with a pillow in his face.
Ya can be intimidating 😾😾
The cat is not the problem here!!
He is antagonizing the cat. He is literally messing with his favorite items to get a response from him. No wonder the cat smacks him. Lol Just let him be and let him come to you.

@@jameskelly972 yah...
lmaoo I just imagine Oreo thinking “YOU’RE NOT MY DAD , LEAVE ME ALONE” Everytime Josh wants to pet him and he’s not having it 🤣💀
And yet Josh keeps touching him and keeps taking his pillow from him.
Some cat owners just need to take a few minutes to understand their cat, take the time and you’ll be rewarded a thousand times over. Just watching this video I can list a bunch of things they’re doing that stresses the cat out. They’re adding to his stress but he loves them anyway, what a beautiful cat. ❤️
Agreed. The guy (Josh) has good intentions but he is looming over the cat (including with the large pillows) and making him really anxious. There are lot of things he could do better that would get a better reaction from the cat. You can also see in the clip when "mom" pets Oreo she comes from underneath to scratch his chin but when "dad" tries to pet Oreo he brings his hand in from above, which is stressing the cat out.
that's absolutely right.....but if they take the route you mention then they'll have no video and more importantly no "drama" that can fetch them lot of views. this is the reason dumbfucks with good intentions piss me off more than people with bad intentions who i can atleast avoid
Oreo would respond better without teasing him over his pillow. Josh could give him treats & maybe 🤔 sweeten-up his voice when talking to him. He sees Josh as a threat or bully in the neighborhood. So hope they worked it all out. ❤😻❤😻
Oreo was probably thinking, "A different pillow? How about if I get Mom a different BOYFRIEND?!?"
😂🤣😅
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Or no boyfriend
To Oreo’s owners: Every time you insist on continuing to interact with Oreo when he acts hostile toward you, you are re-enforcing his (Oreo’s) hostile behavior toward you! You should ignore Oreo’s hostile behavior immediately upon any show of hostility toward you. For example, if you pick up his pillow, and Oreo has a fit, immediately drop pillow, turn and leave. Neutrality is what you’re looking for with this cat. Also, give Oreo his own special area. Set it up with a cat tree, comfy bed, his pillow, treats, cat nip, his toys, and his food/ water bowls-even if it is only a corner of the living room. I would do the same in the bedroom! It is important to offer more cat beds, so Oreo doesn’t feel he has only 1 bed in the house that is his. Finally, the man needs to spend more positive time with Oreo. Bring Oreo’s favorite treats with him when he comes to the house. If Oreo accepts a pet, and a treat, give him 1 pet and a treat and walk away! What you are doing now is poking the Bull, and that’s not nice!
He actually challenge oreo oreo thinks Joshua Start a fight with his other presents to him
Oh, that's brilliant advice 👏
This is the real answer here, the cat is obviously anxious and scared, not so funny for him after all...
Great advice here.
Perfectly stated.
God bless you for having the patience Josh,he'll warm up to you,and if he doesn't,well he is still a great cat.
this is such a great relationship and im here for it
"He's actually a very friendly cat."
Cat: attempts to rip the man's arm off.
Cat: shows he doesn't like to be touched by Josh. Josh: keeps touching him and makes sure it ends up on social media so they can get likes by showing how frustrated the cat feels 😞
@@ninaw3748 Cats fine. they like a little stimulation.
Hahahahahaha no disrespect but love this 😹🤣😹😹😹 🤣🤣
I don't wanna see josh on first 48 he seems like cool dude 😎😹
I'm not surprised the cat goes on the defense, he obviously hates having big stuffed toys or pillows, bigger than him, waved in his face. Many cats don't like being fussed by toys, Josh would have better luck sticking to offering food treats in his hand instead, gaining trust.
It's often us humans that persist in doing something to our animals that we think is play, but the animal might see as aggression instead, and they'll try and tell us to back off.
Food is often the better way to gain an animals trust so hopefully Josh and Oreo will work out in the end.
Yes to all of this. This cat couldn't be more clear about his dislikes! 😅
Yes! To him it's aggressive not playing!
yes i dont understand videos like this. this isn't a cat 'being sassy' or giving me "love scratchs' this is a cat that's vocally communicating its discomfort and is being overstimulated. if this is the cats reaction then stop! even if was okay before. they are telling the owners to stop.
These comments are cherry picking the contents of the video.

He may have been hurt by men before he got adopted. I have a cat named Oreo, she's black and white and sweet and round. She was a feral that just wanted love. Constant purrs and actually very polite. She's our sweet little lady.

hey Josh, underhand, never pet overhanded. cat is afraid when you are too aggressive. offer your turned up hand first always, like your girlfriend does. remember how much bigger and deep voiced you are. small animals find that frightening. so approach slowly, no talking, get down to his level, ask permission letting him sniff you first, then scratch under chin or side of neck. You can do this!

I know of a similar story of an outdoor cat who became a rescue. She was having behavioural issues. The owners put her on medication and now she is much much better.
If a cat does not like you you can’t just go up and pet them as it’s done this video. You build trust and allow them to initiate contact.

Thanks for rescuing Oreo - feral cats need a lot of time & patience. We are just now getting one to come inside after a year of trying. They are very slow to trust. My guess is that he had a previous bad experience with a man. I would give him lots of love, Grooming on his terms but stop the play with the pillow. I really like Josh's attitude, he seems like a sweet dude. I believe him and Oreo could be fine with some time and patience. I've done a lot of cat sitting over the years and if I met a specifically sceptical or skittish cat I'd try to make myself small and inconspicuous, never towering over them. Would simply plop down on the floor for a while and be quiet, back turned to them and let them come sniff me out. Second step, still sitting on the floor, I'd start gently engaging the kitty by bringing out aluminium foil balls I'd prepared at home, rolling them across the floor, then towards the kitty, talking and trying to get them to play with me. (Fishing out foil balls from under every furniture is no fun, though..) Not sure why, but it usually worked. :) After a couple of days of this, most of them came out of their shells. Josh handing Oreo big pillows from "above" might feel threatening to Oreo. (Some man in Oreo's past might have abused him, who knows..) I wish this cute family the best of luck.
👍👏👏👏💕
Excellent advice. Cats do not like people towering over them at all. Making yourself as short as possible goes a long way. Focusing on something else while they check you out helps, too, they tend to not like being ignored LOL
@@AlphaG33k1 Thank you and you're right; us hoomans mustn't ignore them! I'm sure it's written in their Constitution somewhere. :D
He's hilarious! Oreo isn't mean, he just has VERY specific requirements and feelings. 😂🤪😼
I'm laughing at the part where Josh repeats: "Its Mickey Mouse!" And Oreo be like; "Yeah, its a mouse. And I hate it!" Welp cats do 'love' mice 😂😂
Omg that part was soooo hilarious!! 😂❤
Just needs very consistent food and play training from Josh. The tough part? That means Aleshia actually backing off when Josh does feeding and play, so that Oreo learns the pecking order. It's actually stressful on a pet (dog or cat) to feel as if they have to defend their territory. When you train them that they're actually safe (which is harder for a *feral* cat that you bring indoors) they stop the attacking over things and their space. Takes dedicated time and practice. They both like Oreo so it's worth it to help Oreo understand he's not in danger and he doesn't need to defend himself for territory.
Haha reminds me of one of my parent's cats. She only likes me when she wants but she is nice when she wants. Oreo is cute as hell though.

This is great I'm glad that Josh is a good guy and he tolerates the kitties tantrums but I think it's so cute that he has his own pillow
Try walking him *outside* more often. I noticed that being *outdoor* a lot more often helps make a cat more *friendlier/calmer/happier* in general from what I've seen.
As long as he’s on a leash. Cats are a menace to the native bird and rodent population, not to mention the dangers to cats themselves.
@Speed Services
As much as I have a distaste for rodents, they’re incredibly crucial to the natural flow of the environment. They transport seeds when they ingest and excrete nuts, as well as when they stockpile food. They are also a primary food source for many native animals that depend on those animals, such as hawks, foxes, snakes, and in the case of their bones’ calcium, deer. They also eat bugs, and keep the destructive insect populations in check. Every animal has its purpose, not matter how obnoxious or damaging they are to us or our property.
@Speed Services
Not really. If you did research, you would see that cats are one of the most destructive invasive species around the world. They adapt well to almost anything, and are a dangerous predator to small animals. Cats are, in fact, responsible for a few species of animals going extinct. Not to mention the illness they carry that devastates populations of wild animals. They do way more harm than good, which is why I think that cats should be kept indoors, unless they’re kept on a tight leash.
This indoor/ outdoor cats....I can't see why in certain areas why your cats still get fresh air! If a cat has been used to being his own boss, roaming around constantly being stimulated and then all of a sudden its inside, there is no surprise that there maybe problems. If you are going to bring a cat indoors, you need to make sure that cat is very well stimulated.
@Speed Services they think like we do only they are smaller. they are us, we are them ALL LIFE IS INTERCONNECTED, SO if you say who cares about rodents, you are referring to animals or mammals; are we not mammals? ALL LIVES MATTER.
