Just ordered one for €519,99 still €80,- cheaper than the Zwift hub and €40,- cheaper than the Kickr Core. Good value for money given the recent firmware updates!
The pricing has been needed for a while. The direto XR is more of a Core than Kickr competitor. Wahoo heavily discounting the v5 Kickr and also reducing the Core price atm. The trainer market is getting very aggressive Of course the Zwift hub has something to do with that as well.
Yes, yes, yes! The Bluetooth bridge was the only reason I was considering the quite a bit more expensive Justo instead of the Direto XR-T and the only reason I wasn't sure whether to buy an Apple TV. I wasn't awaiting this to change, but this makes me super happy! Thanks for sharing it!
Well done, Elite ! I'm slowly getting mentally prepared for the Winter to come. 🙂In conjunction with Rouvy, the Winter can't be better. PS: I think that's going to be my 4th Winter with my Direto XR ? Had a Drivo before.
Been using the Suito T and it creates a creaking sound when using it for around 20-30 minutes. Trouble shoot it with Elite and ended up making a warranty replacement. Now the replacement also developed the same problem. Will be switching to Wahoo this winter because I live in a condo building and don’t want any complaints from neighbours. 😓
I had a Suito T elite and after only four rides it started making a knocking noise. Reached out to Suito and after some back and forth emails they finally said just return it back to whoever I purchased it from. Local bike shop said he couldn’t give me a return since all Elite was willing to do just replace the trainer. So I wound up with store credit instead. Bought a Zwift hub trainer which is awesome. Bottom line don’t purchase a Suito T.
It's crazy to think that only about two years ago, Zwift was clearing out stock of these trainers and selling them for $450 US. I sold my NEO and bought two Diretto XR's when that came around.
As a small update, the unit I received was missing the bag containing the thru axle adapters, casette spacers, and manual. Got a lot of run around from Amazon about resolving the issue. Contacted Elite directly and they promptly sent me the parts via DHL. Wish I hadn't had the issue but glad to see Elite stand behind their product.
On the Drivo 2 I had previously, ERG mode was unusable. With my Direto updated to firmware v80 it works really well. Not very good with big gear / low power scenarios though.
Going to assume no but any of these updates applicable to the direto X - think I have only ever seen 1 firmware update and erg mode really struggles so any of the smoothing would make it so much better
I wonder if Wahoo do similar upgrades on the KickR Core. Been looking to upgrade my Gen1 Direto and the Direto XR is now tempting, particularly if the footprint is same as the Gen1 Direto which I built a rocker plate for.
I bought my Suito-T for £497.99 back in July 2021, so this "price cut" looks a bit strange to me. I never seen Suito-T in "retail" price of £639 in the UK as listed in video. Probably some Aliexpress style marketing on Elite side.
Hi Macie, quick clarification - we don't handle direct sales, which means we don't have control over the final prices. However, we do set a maximum recommended retail price to ensure prices won't exceed that limit. Lowering the suggested price helps us offer some guidance, and prevents users from being charged more than what has been recommended. Once the trainers are with retailers, we can't dictate how they set their prices. Thanks for reaching out.
@@elitecycling Thanks for your clarifications and trying to keep prices of your products down. And also for improving your existing products (via software updates) even if they are a bit older. TBH I didn't expect any updates to my older Suito-T trainer. I am happy with your politics of not pushing existing customers to newer models by providing new features only to new models, but also improving older hardware platforms when/if possible.
Thanks@@MaciejWiniarczyk, really appreciate that. That's just what we're trying to do with these updates! Hope you'll enjoy your next rides with these ones!
Upgraded my Direto XRT couple of days ago. I ride on FulGaz and Rouvy. Immediately felt the ride was different and more unnatural, especially riding on flat, zero percent incline, where the feeling was like I'm driving on gravel. Uphills felt a bit more easier, maybe softer transition of the incline percentage. Two days later I started to develop ticking noise when riding. Maybe its just an unlucky coincidence, I don't know. But i had the first one replaced in May because of the same issue. Its not as loud and frequent as before, but I'm sure it will get there. I think I'm done with Elite. I'm even considering getting the Kicker Bike Shift just not to deal with direct drive, belts and calibration anymore.
Hi Shane, Excellent video as always!... Opinion please, on either a Wahoo Kickr Smart V5 at £599 or the Elite Direto XR-T at £520 - what would you go for?
I start my Suito in resistance mode rather than ERG as for some reason with the TR software ERG puts the brakes on hard just as the work out starts, probably to get you to the target ASAP but from 0rpm that can be a bit hurty. Hopefully this update will give you a bit more grace!
Hello Shane, I need some help/advice . For my trainer, I have a seven and an 8 Speed Rd. bike. Both bikes are in excellent condition and work great on the wheel on trainer that I’ve been using for the past three years. Both of these trainers are for nine speed and above . is there an adapter that I can get to use with a seven or eight speed cassette? Will a HUB work without the electronic gear emulation? What recommendations do you have? Any advice would be appreciated thank you!
Ok, in the Upgrado app under user data one has to logout and login again with email and credentials to let it recognize version 197 and do the update of firmware, otherwise its laughing at you with silly error messages.
Shane, have you ever explored how easy (or difficult) it is to get any of these trainers serviced? I have the Elite Suito and the noises coming from it would suggest it needs looked at but there is no clear route to doing this.
I found after 2-3 years I got some noise - I just needed to remove the casette, pull out the freehub body and degrease and relube the little spring pins (not sure of their proper name!) and it's as good as new. Just got all gunked up
I have the same issue of high resistence after stop ride on my Direto x, I open a ticket to elite support but they deny the software problem but they have released a firmware for XR with Easy start. In your opinion, is possible to find hex, zip and json file for install them manually?
Pretty difficult to make a choice now. The suito, direto as well as the kickr core are around the same price point. I'm inclined to go with the wahoo. What you guys think??
I think a major factor in that decision for me would be what @shannonparker7404 said above: who provides the best after sales support around where you live.
2 week later with me not updating the Suito in over a year Upgrado is still saying it is up to date, with Firmware 196 and Rev 002. It cant be. Is this a phased roll out (I'm in the UK)?
The decision almost depends on who provides the best after-sales support in Australia. After being quite challenged by offshore suppliers when it comes to supporting malfunctioning or broken products, this is almost my first concern when buying cycling products now.
i wonder if it would be worth upgrading from my original direto which really the only issue i have is how slow to respond to power changes in erg, i have had it 3 or 4 years with 0 problems.
Have you tried the latest firmware (v80 like you see in the video)? After doing that, ERG mode works just fine on my Direto. Failing that, on the Elite forums there are reported cases of mechanical issues causing problems in ERG mode, you could check that.
ohh i didnt know the firmware applied to first gen diretos. it works great other than resistance comming slow an going off slow. i have just adjusted to it over what 4 years
Anybody else have issues with the Suito resistance after the upgrade, currently unable to pedal the thing as the resistance is too high and doesn't let off when you start in either Zwift or My E-Training? Opened a ticket with Elite but wondering if anybody else has had issues.
Do you expect Zwift Virtual Shifting to ever be introduced to the Direto XR? I have a Direto XR which I am perfectly happy with other than I would really like virtual shifting. With virtual shifting in mind, I am thinking of buying a Wahoo Kickr core. Obviously I’d rather avoid the expense of switching trainer if it’ll be coming to Direto XR in future.
so which option should I chose in zwift? FE-C or the Elite RealTrainer? There's stil the old PWR option that was a bit flaky. I'm assuming it's tje new RealTrainer option. Does anyone know? I can't find anything on elite's web site about it
Hi Shane, what about Sterzo?, this is always the one that tips my ATV over the edge!, can I link my Sterzo direct to the Direto trainer?. Thanks mate, great videos. Rob UK
Does that ERG easy start apply to existing trainers that are like 2 years old if you run a firmware update? I have noticed with both of mine that if I enter the pens on Zwift for a ride a few minutes before the start time and then go to fill up my bottles, I'll come back, clip in, and find that it's a full-on max effort leg press to get it to turn over for that first few rotations. Apparently the pre-ride pens in Zwift send the trainer into ERG mode and it death spirals if you're not on it at the start. Really the only thing I don't care for with our Direto trainers.
Hmmm... Not sure on this one. As I understand, ERG will only 'activate' in Zwift when you're in a workout. If you want to trawl the Zwift logs it should have the commands sent to the trainer around that time.
Children chant: "yaaaaaaay!" Haha I haven't been on Zwift in months. Supposed to be a wet fall here so hoping to jump back on in the coming weeks to keep a bit of fitness into winter
