Thanks for the review! I've had this trainer since late 2019. I'm generally happy with it although began to have problems with it in the last 6-7 months. I found it overly noisy in the big ring at any speed and this has got worse over time. More recently the trainer began to not be able to handle any gradient over 5% in the big ring. It would grind and become very choppy unless I found an easy gear in the small ring. This isn't bad gear choice as I often do power climbs in the big ring. There was also a squeaking noise when I was out of the saddle. Anyway, I spoke to Elite and they said the 'tooth ring', which is behind the freehub and I believe dicates the smoothness of the flywheel, needed replacing and sent me spare parts to do this. However, this proved difficult- it needed a hammer and wrench and just wasn't user friendly, so finally Elite have agreed to take the trainer and repair it. Thank god. Hopefully it will be restored to it's original quality, which was pretty damn good for the price.

Thanks for sharing your experience with Elite Suito, I had Kickr Snap for few weeks then returned it and changed it to Kickr Gen4, hoping that it had better "road feel" being the high end model. But I was really disappointed, for me the feel was worse than wheel-on-trainer Kickr Snap, it required tremendous effort to crank up which I can do easily on real road. I decided to return Kickr Gen4 after trying it for 3 wks, I just hated stomping down the pedal feel with Kickr. Anyway, I was lucky to place an order for Suito earlier today. In Europe, turbo trainers are sold out everywhere. And when they are re-stocked they get sold out almost immediately. It will take a day or two until I receive the Suito, but watching your review I think I will definitely like Suito more compared to Kickr. Will share my experience later then. Cheers

Sadly, calibration doesn't do anything to cadence. Yeah, the cadence in these (along with most direct drive trainers) can be a bit wonky. I generally just trust it about 90% of the time.
Hi. I have this trainer and I am a bit confused about the spindown calibration values. At first the number it showed was 10800, a few weeks later 11300 and then 11800. The difference is as big as 10% which made me wondering how the trainer interprets that number. Will the resistance applied to the flywheel change linearly with that value? (i.e. was the power off by 5% before the calibration that adjusted that value by 5%). I am not sure whether it's even a good idea to show that number to the user without explaining what it means.
The good news is, apparently this trainer auto adjusts once calibrated. I've seen this to be true since I frequently compare the trainer data against my quarq and they're pretty bang on identical. Personally, I wouldn't spin down more than once a month on these and even that shouldn't be necessary. As for what the values mean, each power meter manufacturer shares their "zero offset" values differently. I don't know what each of their respective values mean honestly.
Hello. Thanks for the great review. I have a question about the problems you mentioned in the beginning of the video. I think I got one of those trainers with defect flywheel. The trainer is quite loud, espacially with higher speed (big chainring). What can I do? Do you have any ideas?
Have you lubed the cassette? Also, some bikes need to have their chain line adjusted when put on a trainer. Mine does. I need to move my rear derailleur inboard about 1mm. If you have a barrel adjuster for your rear mech, try moving the mech inwards a little. The old defect was a loud clunking sound. If it's not that, then it's what I describe. Cheers.
@@phil121986 yeah, that's definitely that the rear derailleur needs to be trimmed. Essentially, the chain is rubbing the cassette. First, try putting some wet lube directly on the cassette. Don't go crazy with it. Then, if that doesn't make it a lot better, try trimming your rear derailleur. 1 half turn of the barrel adjuster should do the trick. I have to trim mine every time I put it on the trainer, but I've had to do that on every direct drive trainer.
Thank you for the honest review. I recently bought this. Really happy with it. The only problem I have is that when I want to ride in my easy gears. The chain falls off the cassette on the last cassette (between the trainer and cassette). It is really strange to see this happening. I am using the quick release skewers. It isn't loose on either side of the bike. The bike is secure. Any tips would be great. Thanks again.
It's not uncommon for direct-drive trainers to be ever-so-slightly "off" of alignment and to require a little microadjustment of the rear derailleur. I find that, on at least 1 of my bikes, I have to adjust by 1mm (easy to measure since it uses ETAP and one micro-shift is .2mm and I do 5 microshifts. That being said, also check to make sure your rear mech hanger is properly aligned and that the rear limit screws are set well. If it's dropping like that, my guess is it's off just enough to mess with you on the trainer but not enough to mess with you when you're on the road. However, that problem only ever gets worse and you definitely don't want that to happen on the road.
Hi, just got the Suito T, unpacked it, installed Zwift, tried it but the resistance is too hard . Can't spin the pedals after a couple of seconds. Tried calibrating with the Elite E-training app, but there it asks me to hit a target speed of 94km/h! That can't be right?
So, definitely use the app on the computer, not on your phone. The phone app is NOT good. Well, it's okay, but the calibration function sucks. On the computer, it works fine. The pedals moving issue will resolve when you load something on the computer
@@Cat3ForLife the desktop app worked fine now for calibration. Target speed was 34km/h. BUT the off the charts resistance got solved another way because I googled the hell out of it....The issue happened because my Wahoo Bolt paired with the trainer. It seems that there is an issue with the Wahoo computers and the suito. There’s a whole thread somewhere. I removed the Suito from the Wahoo, loaded a workout in Elite’s eTraining app peddled a few minutes and stopped. And just like that issue solved! I paired my wahoo first thing after unboxing so I had no idea what was happening. Zwift and Elite’s workouts are working lile a charm now. What a strange bug this is.
The Lemond is a great trainer and probably one of the best for road feel. This isn't far off. The difference is the sound though! That Lemond sounds like a small jet engine when you get it going.
Nice video! I want to ask if you have had problems with the knocking sound, that a lot of people have with these Elite Suito's. I want to buy one, but I don't know if it's worth it, if the sound is something that every owner of the trainer experience.
@@marcoquaranta5708 Nice to hear that. What do you think about noise level when riding 35-40 km/h on flat? Would it be disturbing to people in other rooms (specially above you)? I just read a few opinions about problems with trainer calibration, but I hope it's not a thing anymore.
Do you mean is the way that it simulates climbs particularly on the steeper side of things accurate enough? If so, yeah, especially for zwift. I think zwifts climbs are off anyway, but the grade simulation on the elite is good and it's quick to respond.
I have a mountain bike with a 1x11 drive train. Couple questions, will this be worth it if I don't buy a road bike for it? I would use my mtn bike for it but I can see it being very tedious having to tune my bike all the time when I switch back and forth Will there be enough resistance if I only have 1 cog in the front?
I would suggest just buying the appropriate cassette for the trainer. Whatever you have on your MTB, mount that on the trainer and voila, you'll have a perfect replica. In which case, the resistance will be perfect. I can use my MTB on mine and my 1x setup on mine doesn't have a huge pie plate, but I still have issues with my chain being too slack. If I swapped in a cassette that was identical to the one on my MTB, I'd be in business.
@@Cat3ForLife oh man! Awesome! Thanks. That makes the elite cheaper too if I get it without. Are there any other components id need to make the cassette work? Or does any cassette fit? I got the adapter for the boost spacing in my cart. Maybe I should get a new chain while I'm at it lol then just put all the new stuff on my bike and the old stuff on the trainer
Hey did I understand you right that I have to change the cassette when I normally use a 11-34 on my bike cause the chain is too long? Thanks for the vid and sorry for my bad english
Hey Nerofin - first you should never have to apologize for your English. Whatever your first language is, I promise you I don't speak it as well as you speak English. Second, you may have to do that or get yourself another 11-34 cassette to put on the trainer permanently. You can try it with the existing setup and it may work. If it doesn't, it may just be too loose on gear combos where you have small cogs paired with a little chainring. Cheers!
I'll admit that I don't know. However, the axle support is really just a different sized hole versus the quick release version. If it uses a relatively standard axel, you should be fine.
Great Review ! I just ordered the Suito , did they take care of the wheel wobble & creaking noise issues that I have seen on UA-cam & forums , I’m hoping I made the right choice.
I've heard mixed on whether they have fixed it. Most accounts suggest yes. Also, our two specimens are still going strong and silently. I would say it's very likely that yes, you are in good shape.
Great review! I have a Suito on order and hoping it will be here soon. I have a 11 -34 cassette with Ultegra Di2. The Suito is 11 - 28. Is it simply a matter of changing the settings in the Etube app to get everything up and running correctly? Thanks for your help.
You may find that your chain is too long and you may have to get a matching cassette for the trainer. If so, it's pretty easy to swap the cassette if you have the right tool. If not, a bike shop can do it in less than 3 minutes.
@@tswan222 yup. It will sag and your rear derailleur will be slack. And you got me when I had my phone in my hand, hence the lightning fast replies. :-)
@@Cat3ForLife thank you I greatly appreciate it! I’m just getting into this and am totally ignorant on trainers and bikes in general lol. I’ve had a hard time finding a budget bike that has a compatible cassette for this trainer as well 😂😅
@@Cat3ForLife sweet!! Thank you! One last question lol! Again me being ignorant the elite says “Shimano® 105 (or equivalent) 11-speed cassette” does that mean any 11 speed rear cassette from Shimano will work out of the box like the Claris or other lower end ones? Or will I need to just take my cassette off the bike and buy an adapter? Sorry for all the questions I just don’t wanna get it all and not be able to hook it up 😅
@@mattdagger1480 So, the trainer comes with an 11 speed cassette (a 105 I believe). As long as your gearing is 11 speed, you won't need to get an additional cassette. However, I think below 105 is 10 speed and lower (though I could be wrong - I haven't checked in a while).
Not even a little. Many manufacturers have come out and stated that it's perfectly suitable, plus there are precious few reports of damage due to a trainer and many have extenuating circumstances.

@@LukasWanner fwiw, a riding and racing partner of mine just completed his masters in material sciences at the University of Washington with an emphasis in composite materials. I just came from your other video of your first review of this machine. I just bought it today - I sold my old bike and buying a new one. Can you please tell me the things my new bike must have to be compatible with this specific machine? I know lots of people who buy 12mm thru axles the day they get their trainer. I’d like to be all ready day 1 (if possible) thanks for your time. And video!
Sure thing! If your new bike is 12 speed (etap AXS or Campy), you'll need the appropriate adapter (XDR) and a cassette. Otherwise, if you're 11 speed, you're good to go out of the box. The trainer can accommodate both thru axle and quick release and has the appropriate adapters in the box.
@@Cat3ForLife awesome! And it is also compatible with the KICKR CLIMB? or with this trainer it is simply the block for the front wheel that can be used?
actually now I am reading because it offers up to 15% gradient on its own and kicks in automatically, the trainer by itself should be superior to having the KICKR climb attached onto the front of the bike for an additional nearly $1,000 (or I may be wrong on this)
@@zacharyerskine4277 that's actually different. All smart trainers offer resistance feel, but the climb actually raises the front of your bike. Elite says it's not compatible but I think that is so they can sell their own front wheel accessory.

If you have a barrel adjuster for your rear mech, try moving the mech inwards a little. The old defect was a loud clunking sound. If it's not that, then it's what I describe. Cheers.
@@Cat3ForLife
Here you can see and hear the trainer, is that normal?
ua-cam.com/video/0RJOB_v57qs/v-deo.html
@@phil121986 yeah, that's definitely that the rear derailleur needs to be trimmed. Essentially, the chain is rubbing the cassette. First, try putting some wet lube directly on the cassette. Don't go crazy with it. Then, if that doesn't make it a lot better, try trimming your rear derailleur. 1 half turn of the barrel adjuster should do the trick. I have to trim mine every time I put it on the trainer, but I've had to do that on every direct drive trainer.
@@Cat3ForLife
Thanks for the advice, I will try it 😉
Thank you for the honest review.
Any thoughts on this in comparison to the Directo XR from Elite?
Sadly, I have not tried the Diretto. I hear positive things though.
Have you ever tried a Cycleops Hammer H2?
I haven't yet. Just the wahoo kickr, kickr core, Tacx bushido, computrainer, and a few non smart trainers. I hear it's quite good but pricey
@@Cat3ForLife I by chance had the opportunity to use one extensively. Very few dropouts.
how do you compare this to a lemond revolution trainer in term of road feels?..
I have not. Both of the trainers have been flawless and a delight to use (as much as a trainer can be a delight).
Hi, have you bought this trainer? How about the sound?
@@PierreNicques I havent have any problems with it. It's a Nice trainer!
@@marcoquaranta5708 Nice to hear that. What do you think about noise level when riding 35-40 km/h on flat? Would it be disturbing to people in other rooms (specially above you)? I just read a few opinions about problems with trainer calibration, but I hope it's not a thing anymore.
Do you find the incline percentage enough ? Really between this and the wahoo.
Do you mean is the way that it simulates climbs particularly on the steeper side of things accurate enough? If so, yeah, especially for zwift. I think zwifts climbs are off anyway, but the grade simulation on the elite is good and it's quick to respond.
Yes exactly thank you. And you would still recommend this unit over the wahoo?
I have a mountain bike with a 1x11 drive train. Couple questions, will this be worth it if I don't buy a road bike for it? I would use my mtn bike for it but I can see it being very tedious having to tune my bike all the time when I switch back and forth
Will there be enough resistance if I only have 1 cog in the front?
Cheers!
@@Cat3ForLife thank you!
Do you know if its compatible with the R.A.T. Axle System of Focus Bikes?
I'll admit that I don't know. However, the axle support is really just a different sized hole versus the quick release version. If it uses a relatively standard axel, you should be fine.
Is it still kicking by the way? I saw some mixed reliability reports searching lately 🧐
Definitely. This time of the year, I run it every day for at least 2 hours. So far, so good.
Thank you! Happy new year!
Hello Sir, I see you did a review about S-Works Tarmac Etap
2017, do you would still buy this bike for 5999 in a shop? Or better buy sth else?
,
Hmm... Probably not for that price. But it's still a good bike. Maybe 2500 to 3000
Great Review !
@@Cat3ForLife Wow...that was a quick reply. Thanks! It will be obvious if the chain is too long?
@@tswan222 yup. It will sag and your rear derailleur will be slack. And you got me when I had my phone in my hand, hence the lightning fast replies. :-)
great review thanks! I have a 11-30 cassette on my bike, do I need to worry about my chain being too long when using this trainer?
Are you in the US by chance? Where would I order one of these in the us? I can’t seem to find them online easily
I found mine at competitive cyclist but it looks like they don't have them. Let me see if I can track some down.
@@Cat3ForLife thank you I greatly appreciate it! I’m just getting into this and am totally ignorant on trainers and bikes in general lol. I’ve had a hard time finding a budget bike that has a compatible cassette for this trainer as well 😂😅
@@mattdagger1480 It looks like bike tires direct sells them but is currently out of stock. They should have some soon.
Do you have any concern about using a carbon frame with an indoor trainer?
Not even a little. Many manufacturers have come out and stated that it's perfectly suitable, plus there are precious few reports of damage due to a trainer and many have extenuating circumstances.
@@Cat3ForLife Those are my thoughts as well, but my local bike shop is very much against using carbon frames with indoor trainers, so I am a bit paranoid haha
Thank you for your quick response!
@@LukasWanner fwiw, a riding and racing partner of mine just completed his masters in material sciences at the University of Washington with an emphasis in composite materials. His take is simple - carbon is way more resilient than other materials and is quite alright on the low stress environment of the trainer
@@Cat3ForLife I have heard that in a youtube video as well, but having my local bike shop express so much concern kind off freaked me out haha...
Thank you again for your great answer!
Thanks
"it's very cheap" Man, I wish I live in USA.
Why is the kid wearing a finger skating shirt?
Such a huge step up from wheel on trainers and takes up less space, does not destroy tires, especially expensive tires running with sealant, love how much less wear and tare on the bike. All metal is awesome, so tired of cheesy plastic builds.
This kid scares me. Dead eyes! But great review. Thank you.
