Brilliant. I remember as a nipper pulling over to the side of the road at a layby in France, and a woman got out of her car and I kid you not said loudly to her husband 'Oh Aubrey! If that car goes, we'll all be British!' That was a catchphrase in our family after that. And it really was 'Aubrey' 😂

I don't understand why these are such a step above most observational comedy things but they're just so consistently good. It's so gentle and yet so biting. It's the skit comedy equivalent of Jane Austen both loving and mocking a Mrs Bennet type. (I may have overextended my praise here but I've just been really enjoying these.)
This is exactly what Jane Austen does, she does it with scores of characters like Mr Woodhouse, Sir William Lucas, and of course who could forget Miss Bates! Gentle foible-poking comedy while still loving the people who do it, and it's just beautiful.

It's funny that you say that, because the UK is on the same latitude as most of Canada, it just doesn't feel like that because of the gulf stream. In this context though, 'Northerner' means somebody who lives in the North of England (in places above the city of Nottingham).
