1:51 recipe looks like a DIY contrast paint :) I guess using a GW black Templar contrast with some drops of flow improver and medium can do the trick as well :) Great process ! 😊
I want to make a special thankyou for this. I'm looking to paint HeroQuest, and ALL expansions, probably will get a few resin addons, and want to paint it all. But I don't want to buy thousands of paints. And I *want* it bright and toy-like. Masters of the Universe (original cartoon) type colours. The too-bright models (for 99% of grimdark people) you have at the showcase is perfect. This means I can do my "army" fast, beautiful, and then perhaps I can go over again later on a 2nd painting phase with acrylics and details.
May you recommend a Gloss Varnish prior to the "Magic Recipe Ink Wash"? This may help the "ink wash" flow into the nooks and crannies. Your thoughts are welcomed.
Nope, I wouldn’t do that! I want it to build up gradients and stain the surface. Also basecoating on gloss varnish is a massive pain! I rarely use varnish, not even with oils. I want the layers to combine. On a super tidy paintjob on the other hand… like before panel lining. Yeah I would varnish then.
would you have a link to the pro acryl one? I just got a bambu A1 and would love to have this be my first project. Also thank you so much for your videos! @@bear_brush
@davidroseborough That is a nice printer! I was looking around but I couldn’t find it. Could’ve been on cults3D or MMF. But you could use any stand that fits the GW paint pots. Maybe there is even something that fits better in your setup!?
Was dein Rezept betrifft, also Flow Improver habe ich und Glaze Medium auch. Tusche habe ich aber nicht. Was kann ich stattdessen nehmen? Schwarze Contrast Color?
For the zenithal you used black and white or grey and white or what exactly was the priming? Thanks! Oh and what kind of black ink? Just regular acrylic black ink? Nothing special?
@@bear_brush have you experimented with other inks? In 2D painting it's rare to use black as a shadow, typical candidates are Burnt Umber for a warm painting or Payne's Grey for a cool painting.
Good information. But way too much movement. Can not see what is going on. Not enough time to study the effect before it switches to another view. It makes it pretty much useless.
Thank you for your feedback. You are not the first one who mentioned it. Keeping people engaged and delivering information is not that easy. I will give more screentime to the models in the future. But I hope I could encourage you to try it yourself!
tbf it is a variation of that yes. But you need some clickbaity videos to move the channel along. Sadly, that is part of the game. Also Zenithal is a better known term so I hope that more people will get some information from this video.
Don't cross your arms too much: it makes for a closed social posture and conveys insecurity; you ARE the bear, aren't you? :P Cool video! Will try and give it a go :D
Hello! Love your video!!!
Can you tell me the brand name of the Heavy Body White you use in the Dry brushing section of the video?
Thanks in advance!!
Thanks so much! I use SCHMINCKE heavy body white. This is normally used for canvas but it works so well for minis!
@@bear_brush Thank you so much for the info on the paint!!
I appreciate it very much!!!
Always happy to help!

Thanks mate! Yeah I guess any thinned contrast or „insert brand name“ paint with extra medium could work.
Thank you for the content and sharing; Are you applying the Ink mixture on a "primed" model? or the original plastic?
Primed black with a white zenithal.
@@bear_brush thx

This will be used for my GFs HeroQuest, too! Feel free to post some pics on the Discord! I am glad that this is helpful to you!
5:45 is that parkway drive?
Nah that is from Epidemic Sound. Would have to look for the track!

where did you get your paint racks?
Hey mate. I got them on thingiverse and then printed them.

@@bear_brush thank you and much appreciated
love this, took notes, gonna try it! Thanks for this!
Glad you liked it. Feel free to post results on the Discord and tag me :)
What's the song during the reveal where they are going around in a circle?
Love the paint job by the way.
Thanks mate. If I go through the archives again, I will look for the song :)
Came for the painting-stayed for the music
Glad you like the choice!
Ooooooh that editing! Great video dude, I'll be giving this a try out!
Glad you like that editing style :) can’t wait to see your result!
Was dein Rezept betrifft, also Flow Improver habe ich und Glaze Medium auch. Tusche habe ich aber nicht. Was kann ich stattdessen nehmen? Schwarze Contrast Color?
Thats a dope tshirt
Thanks mate!

Black and white for the Zenithal, grey comes from the gradient of spraying. And yes, just regular black ink :)

@darthkek1953 oh yeah I often spray shadows on a paintjob with the airbrush from people, from purple to brown. Depends on lighting and mood :)
Awesome vid mate!! Looking forward to the next part 🙃 and thanks for the shout out 🥰
Great video! Also, what’s that song at the end? Sounded really good!
Oh ehrm. I hope I can find it again. I get all my music from epidemic sounds.
Great Video Bear ... Love the orc boyz 💚
Hope you are now feeling better keep it up buddy!
Yeah I am all better! Thanks my dude!
Alter Schwede, Edit Fest :D
Nice gemacht :)
Danke :) hat auch lang gedauert 🤷🏻♂️
Thumbs up just for the soundtrack!
Thanks dude! Took me a while to choose the music!

Das macht dann durchaus Sinn. Werde selber mal bisschen experimentieren 🙂, danke.
Viel Spass dabei! Bist du schon aufm Discord?
@@bear_brush Jetzt ja 😀
I prime with a dark Panzer grey, then a light grey from 45°, then dry brush white
Gonna try that. Thanks for the input!
@@bear_brushFor smaller scales, I omit the light grey and go straight to the white
Excellent paints.
Thank you :)
The Grey looks like army painter Grey lord gray. It would do pretty much the same.
Well yes and no. Same color but no gradients and no flowing.
Love the edits you did on this! Very Orc, many wow!
Such love! Many thank you!

There's this wonderful concept, it's pretty new so I'm not surprised you haven't heard of it, called "pause."
So better than slapchop....by doing slapchop?
