Great listen - this time at 6am on a train from Newcastle to Carlisle. Not only did the journey pass quicker but I’m feeling a LOT more confident and dare I say excited about Neill Collins. Well done lads. 😊
Noticed very little discussion of Collins managerial record. With 97-34-45 at Tampa and 24-13-15 at Barnsley, that’s a quite solid 55.1% wins at Tampa and 46.2% at Barnsley. Now, this sounds promising, but given the dreadful 3 of 12 point start, we’re in a wee bit of a hole. With 32 games left, with a 45% win percentage, we might expect about 51 points, which is 5th place territory. Let’s say he manages closer to 55%, and we’re at around 59 points and 3rd place. It takes a borderline heroic 65% win rate to get into possible winning territory with about 67 points, and that’s only good about half the time. I certainly hope this unfortunate start doesn’t end up as a drag on Collins perceived success at SP, but fans will be fans.
Commenting to add I was nodding in agreement about Collins coming across as humble, I also thought he came over like a leader of people and pragmatic. I loved him immediately describing himself and his expectations of everyone around him as being 'committed'. Edit to add - our tempo has been painfully slow this season, hopefully we become quicker and more aggressive on the ball.
That really was some intro.......😂 The wait is over, the clip of the cleaner went down well taking the vacant manager sign, it must have been dusty after 30 days. The new manager looks quietly confident, he haa achieved success albeit in his playing career in the 2nd level of English football. From the online reads his american team were top goal scorers consecutivley. So there is experience at a really good level and it seems he has an impressive contact list. Lets Get Scoring Again Eh
