In this video I will show you step by step how I swapped from the antiquated analog gauge cluster found in the Cadillac ATS to the fully digital Cadillac CTS gauge cluster . This video is how I did it, take what you want from it and adapt your own way if you find something easier or different than what I did. I did not see a how to for this, and alot of people asking for one. It is NOT HARD, just take your time. I was able to knock it out in a day, and I think it looks awesome. It compliments the Live view rear camera i purchased from www.mods4alpha.com
The gauge cluster was purchased from www.whiteautoandmedia.com.
The process is the same for if you own a ats or an ats-v, the difference is if you own a V you will get a V-mode which i dont have access to since I dont own a V and it is programmed to your vin. Cluster works with full functionality as was provided by the original cluster, the warning lights however are trimmed when you fit the larger cluster into the smaller car. If you are swapping straight CTS to CTS you will not lose anything.

You're welcome. Hope this video is of some help to you. It's honestly not a hard mod. It's just something to take your time and measure twice cut once so to speak.

have you tried replacing the HMI (human module interface)? It seems that your passenger side was hit and there are many components that are in that side that deals with the dash
that's dope, i love the setup. what year model cluster is it? I have a 2016, so i would need a 2016 cts-v cluster?
Thank you! I've heard you can use other years, but I've also been told it's easier for programmers if you stick with same year cluster. Yes a 16 v or non v CTS cluster would work. Just make sure IF you want to add heads up display later on you get one that's compatible for that as it's an extra port

This would only work on model years 2014 and up for the CTS it would need go have the same gauge setup as the ats does at the beginning of the video
I have a 14 CTS with this boring gauge cluster so my replacement should fit right in correct? Is it pretty easy to add HUD? I have the red collision warning lights in that position but no HUD.
Yes should drop in. To add hud, you first need to make sure the digital gauge cluster is hud compatible. It's an extra plug on the back of the cluster.
I had just the warning lights originally too. Adding hud isn't hard per say. Just time consuming taking all the screws out of the upper dash pad, and lower dash pad. It's like taking the front bumper off. Not a bad job just time consuming due to the number of screws. I had it done in a morning no issues
Do you have to put the clear plastic shield back on? I was thinking about doing this modification. I saw the place you bought from. Did you provide them with your own cluster or did you purchase one from them? I want to do as little as possible for any cutting etc.
I had them source me one. With everything going on it took two months to arrive. They did the programming and then sent to me. You transfer the plastic from your stock cluster to this if im understanding the question correctly
Just out of curiosity you missed a few steps and I really appreciate the work that you did but I have a question how did you get the cluster and the digital dash with the new one and the old ATS plastic cluster join together or did you just put the screen in and then put the plastic cluster over it
You just put the screen in and put the plastic over it. The plastic has two holes top and two bottom it bolts into to stay centered. It's orientation to the rest of the car doesn't change from stock to digital dash. How you cut the dash is how the digital dash will sit behind it. This videos just a loose idea of what needs to be done since no one had made anything yet and information was kind of scattered.
We’re u able to lift it up a little so you are able to see the miles and gears ?
I was. I can see everything fine now. I could lift it up more, however I have to trim the ribs off of the cluster hood (underside of dash top). I'll do that in the spring when it's warmer out. Its in the 20s here today
What would be the differences in doing this with a 2014 ATS manual trans car. I would assume no turbo boost Guage, but would there be a gear indicator saying which gear you are currently in?
It's all programmed through your vin so whatever specifics your car has will or won't show up on the cluster if that makes sense. If your car doesn't show boost now it wouldn't show on this if you converted
@@PapawsDadillacOEMplus ok and from reading their description it appears there is no way for them to add features. I've been wanting to do this to my ATS for a long time but wasn't sure if it was plug and play. I'll be ordering mine by the end of the month thank you for the install video 👍
small question for you, is there any wiring cuts or no need to cut wires and it will fit directly and works fine ?
No need for any cutting or splicing of wires. The factory plug is the same in the ats cluster as it is in the cts cluster. Plug and play.

You have to have it programmed then it'll show mileage
How did this work as far as programming with the VIN of the car?
I provided my vin to WAMS when ordering through their menu selection and they took care of the rest

I'm unsure of that, you would have to contact white Automotive and media they'd be able to answer that

Check that video out I did. I did lose some warning lights, however I have a work around to get them back, I just need for it to cool down so I can work on it.
This question might be dumb but do your warning lights come on on the digital cluster?
It's not dumb at all. It's actually a valid question. I actually answer it all in another video I uploaded since I got that alot. You'll get the simple stuff like high beams, adaptive lights stuff like that, but check engine and seat belt and things on the outer edge you will lose
What did you use to cut the metal plate on the cts cluster
Dremel with a reinforced wheel for cutting aluminum and metals
Looking to buy an ATS and I want to get this done. What kind of shop would you recommend to get this done? I can’t do it myself.

Hey how did you remove the ats lens from the cluster? I’m having hard time separating it. Is there glue holding it ? Thinking putting it oven
Just used an exacto knife or a carpenters knife. Started in one spot and worked my way around the cluster

Make sure you get the tab parts as well. Wasn't hard to separate at all for me

What's it look like it sport mode?
Nothing changes in sport mode as I only have an ats. Now if I had an ats v and since it's programmed to vin, it would have v mode and the speedo would change to a tach
Have U01B0 code on 2016 2.0 ats anyone have any insight on how to fix
Faulty battery monitor module or a short in harness somewhere or as simple as battery terminals aren't tight on battery. I'd start with loose terminals first
Does anyone have any kind of template for this. Really want to fo it but extremely nervous about cutting the new cluster
I do not believe there is any template available. I will say cutting the metal part isn't as important as trimming of the black plastic trim that goes over the cluster. (Paper thin part). I cut a smidge too much when I did this video. . Doing it again when I installed heads up display I had the dash top out of the car and it was much easier and cleaner cutting and fitting it that way vs in the car. I understand that completely. It's a big mod as far as cutting some expensive pieces. Are you on the fb pages or is instagram or email better ?

It looks great but Why not use the cluster from the xts v sport, the regular xts has the same cluster as the ats and the v sport has the upgraded full screen?
This was just the layout I preferred at the time of doing it. There may be another swap coming soon :)

Plug is the same you just would need to cut dash accordingly

I have a ATS performance series (has sport/tour/snow) modes and manual select shifter would the cluster work? If you have any knowledge I would like to pick you’re brain

Let me tell you where you messed up ok wouldn’t have been just easier to take the cluster back play from your old garage drill new screw holes for the new one and screw that black plate on so it match your dash perfectly and no cutting need on the dash 🤷🏾♂️🤷🏾♂️🤷🏾♂️🤷🏾♂️🤷🏾♂️ it will be lined up perfectly because it’s the same back plate off the original even if you have to cut the original back plate it’s still a easy swap part all you would’ve had to do was cut to squares in the back plate to fit connectors out the back that seems more reasonable and as long as your using screws and washers to alignment and tightness it would’ve fit perfectly 😂😂😂😂😂😂☠️☠️☠️ sometimes you gotta have a great idea take a step back then pick it apart to understand how the first thought u have isn’t always the best one
The cts cluster is alot bigger than the stock one. You need the width to sit lower hence the cutting, so the hood can sit on top still
@@PapawsDadillacOEMplus I get that part but remember what I’m saying it we just talking about the back plate so you don’t cut the dash basically what I’m saying instead of cutting the dash try to figure out how to screw the original back plate on the new screen then put it in the glass just so the back plate still fits the dash and no cutting required unless ur saying the screen is so wide it won’t fit wish I find that hard to believe because a company started selling the conversion from a cts digital to a ATS drop and play
@@PapawsDadillacOEMplus the screen looks really flat with out the back plate maybe a little longer on the short end but I think it would still work with new drill holes 🕳
@@PapawsDadillacOEMplus probably could’ve cut the hole for the connector and just use double sided adhesive or glue cause adhesive is used for screens on phones and damn near impossible to pull apart
I'd be afraid to put it back there without a back plate on and have something short or get broken from vibrations etc sitting in its new home of the dash.
