  • This is not a super quick video but I felt it was important to go into detail and explain why I show each step.
    ▶TIME STAMPS
    1)2:25 - Have an aim
2)3:10 - Final check and adding fades
3)6:30 - Adjusting the tonal balance using EQ
4)13:45 - Getting the loudness right with limiting
5)21:20 - Final sweetening, stereo widening, saturation etc.
▶Download the 2 free plugins here:

    Loudness Meter: youlean.co/youlean-loudness-m...
I think the loudness meter has had a nice upgrade but it should function roughly the same :)

It’s certainly can be fun, usually takes me 3 months to get a track that I’m happy with trying different build ups and drops and getting ready for real realise and sometimes can be frustrating, but with certain plugins and side compression it helps, keep going until you’re happy with your song and it’s about self satisfaction, before getting other listeners to listen

I love how you take your time at the beginning to explain that this is just a beginner's tutorial and that professional mastering by experienced people really is something else. I mastered my own album recently and though it worked out fine, I realise my skills are nowhere near those of a professional. Mastering is a hard skill to master!

Awesome video Michael, i watch a lot of producing tutorial channels on the tube and i find yours to be the most reliable and helpful, so thank you for the good work!
I also have one tip for you. Instead of constantly pasting the value when setting the fade in/out, hold shift when dragging the point, that enables moving it sideways without accidentaly moving it up/downwards. Maybe you already know that and simply dont use it, but it's a tip for the comment section :) cheers
