This was both entertaining and insightful in equal measure ❤ I heard the pseudo Oasis album using AI a few months ago and figured you have to use a good vocal that is representative of the target for the AI. Thank you for exploring this 👍

you could have also used Synthesizer V for the base vocals, it's essentially a realistic sounding vocaloid software. sounds great on its own, especially the "Solaria" voice, but of course you can use it with AI voice inference too

Synth V is a great plugin but it takes a lot of tweaking to make it sound like a human singer.
@@mecd4167 yes it does but I've gotten some good results with Solaria, especially when you then use a well trained AI voice with it. I'm sure they will probably integrate that in the software soon
right but the question is, how much of that effort is needed if you're gonna just use it as a base to voice clone Dua Lipa anyhow@@mecd4167 . Wouldn't it be interesting if the answer is "not that much"? I'd love to see an experiment.

Good question! The time will tell is the answer. Someone just told me that in France it's illegal to copy someone's voice without their permission...
I think the industry will change, and the laws will change but we need to keep on top of AI and be able to use it to our benefit, not hindrance.
@@EDMTips Copying "someone's voice" is going to very slippery slope for courts. Where do you draw the line? Is it going to be purely about judge's hearing and personal preferences? The AI voice in this sounded like using live autotune which causes ringing artefacts and that would immediately tell me it's not Dua Lipa. If court decided otherwise, they immediately extend "someone's voice" a lot!
If there is intent to decieve, or not mention it, but under new Hollywood artist laws toy can use AI to make a parody of an actor and their work.

I think vocalists should be allowed to license their "vocal likeness" similar to how actors and models can license their "physical" likeness.

The difference from the raw recorded vocal to the finished vocal - wow a great sound. How about making a video about what you did ? EQ and Comp and so on ?

I'm actually surprised by the lyric generator, its simple and kinda silly/stupid but it works so well it's very poppy and hooky.
Yes, I was surprised too but it does sound rather vanilla 😬
Part of why it works despite how silly/stupid the lyrics are is that lyrics of human-generated songs have become more silly/stupid in recent years. www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7806124/

Great question! Suite does have more features and plugins but you can use Standard no problem!

I'm so surprised to see Mike here. Over the years, I've been getting a lot of insight through his channel as he has tutorials on Adobe Audition which is my DAW of choice (I know I know, everyone tries to get me to Ableton or Cubase) and now a while back I started following you as I thought your methods and way of explaining were also very helpful. Question: Would you say that we probably could use this tool. Choose a "famous voice" we like the tone of. Generate a vocal. BUT.... and after processing the living crap out of the vocals... we could release it with as a "new" artist? OR... do you think one could end up in trouble if for producing actual releases, even tho we dont mention the "AI generated artists name"?
Great question! I think we shouldn’t and as the danger is too high - you stand more to lose if it all goes haywire.
If you use AI vocals, make sure you say that and link to the source.

in just six months this video has aged by 6 years... most of the weak points of the process have been overcome, plus everything has become even simpler and more direct.
it would be good to show the breakdown of how you took the vocals and the workflow and techniques on how you polished them into the final demo

I think the bit with buddy Mike being totally surprised could have benefitted from a fair bit of AI itself because it was all staged and a good example of the fact that acting isn't easy for most of us. However, I enjoyed the entire video: lots of resources to check out, slickly edited and at a nice pace overall! 😉

And I have to add that for the singer part, you have another option (I'm regularly using it) : Synthesizer V. I'm not affiliated, just in awe regarding what they've done. They've sampled several singers in many singing styles and sliced their recordings into phonems. In a word, you type your sentences with the pitch and a singer is singing for you. Try it and tell me :)

Would it be legal to publish this song with AI generated vocals which sound like someone else?
Great question! Depends on your notion of publishing… Labels won’t sign it. You will be able to release it if you credit the source and be open that they are AI vocals
Are there AI applications that, when I upload some guitar or any instrument variation samples, can generate as example a guitar solo for me using the samples I've uploaded?
Good question! Better to consult Google on this one, as new software constantly coming to the market 🙂

I myself have achieved similar results. I performed the vocals myself and altered the pitch etc with processing (autotune & vocal bender) then sent to Lalals. I used the Madison Beer voice and it NAILED IT. Yep! Great sounding female vox performed by a dude lol! But trying to actually pass as Beyonce or Dua Lipa and putting their names as featured artists... that will definitely go wrong somewhere down the line. 100%

Wow, thats quite impressive that the AI works so well. How can we apply this though, as realistically we don't want to be stealing someone else's voice? I guess this brings into question morality etc but I wouldn't expect a label to sign it? Awesome to see the outcome though and great track either way!

Yes, I don’t think it’s for the labels to sign but it was a good experiment to see what AI is capable of. To see how easily we can be replaced by machines. I enjoyed the adventure and learned a lot in the process and wanted to show the others what I learned in an entertaining way :)
@@EDMTips It's certainly an interesting future we're heading towards with more and more weird and wonderful tools becoming available and making it easier for producers to work - I have a rubbish singing voice myself, so perhaps something like this could be used with my own voice to get it in a more workable state before getting it in the DAW! :D

I did the same with Karen Carpenter, pretty impressive if you teach it with sufficiently isolated vocals. I used my MALE vocals as the source and it was very impressive. A good female vocal would be awesome.
