by far the best video i have ever seen on this topic. ive been watching video after video and nothing was fr like this. this video was an absolute masterpiece
The FL Studio plug-ins are unique because of the visuals they provide, so I appreciate you referencing the visuals to explain the point of using all of them. IMO the visual element is super helpful for understanding what it's doing. Learning how to do the masterting from scratch is much more helpful than a fancy plugin with a catch-all preset for me bc those never work with my voice. Managed to get something sounding nice using this tutorial. Great stuff!
You don’t have to manually make the “STEREO - MONO” in patcher. There’s a stock preset in patcher called “mid-side eq” which is the same thing, without having to make it yourself
I just used this man and thank you so much , in really noticing a big difference in how it sounds and I followed along and saved as my new mastering chain, I just switched out maximus for apogee Soft limit as I love the sound it gives, many thanks I've subbed have a great day
This video helped me a lot. Thanks Ozgun. I would love to see more videos about mixing a track and also mastering if any update you have since this video. Thanks
Unreal video and an incredible mastering chain!! Works very well with every song. Thank you so much Oz. Any tips on getting it a bit louder? I just pushed the post up in the Maximus !
If you wanna get a bit louder, make sure you clip your buses in the mix. Try not to send Maximus much peaks. If you handle them in the mix, then you'll be able to boost more post gain with the Maximus.
Always Learning something new can you maybe make a Video of How to make a Kick / Kick Rumble like Shortround? his style is just amazing!!! keep up the Amazing Work Ozgun Abi!!
Thank you very much man!!! REally appreciated. Also keep in mind that there is " MS EQ " preset in patcher which brings up Mid / Side EQs instead of limiters.
Now I don't think it's bad. Actually I'm turning off the true peak nowadays on my masters and getting less distortion. I learned this from a mastering engineer and I think the streaming platforms are not punishing you for the true peak.
I'm wondering who this tutorial is actually for, tbh because you've clearly missed the point. People watching this video aren't mastering for venues or clubs directly. They master so they can upload their track to Spotify, UA-cam, and other streaming platforms. Meanwhile, you show them how to make their master peak at 0db and land at single digit values lufs whise. Meanwhile, Spotify (and most other platforms) specifically asks for -14 lufs integrated with a TP of -1db. All this maximising on top of generalised compression will do, especially for beginners who still make the mistake of mixing into a Soft-Clipper, is to create an undynamic wall of sound with no punch or clarity.
Yo mate, thanks for the feedback on the content. As far as I know -14 LUFS is not a big deal. And none of the mastering engineers I know care about it. It's just a standard and if you are more loud than that they'll normalize your track. Which is not a big deal and not gonna effect how your track would sound on the platform. It's just volume. About -1db TP (True Peak). You are right about it. If you upload a track that is peaking at 0db TP, the streaming platform would use a limiter to your track and limit it about 1 db. Which would be pretty transparent since the value is so little. But still you are right, if you wanna keep the dynamic range as same as how you mastered, you should send them at -1db TP. Currently I'm uploading my tracks to Spotify and all other platforms with -0,3db TP. And around -5 LUFS. I had no problems so far. Even labels are usually asking me to keep my masters at -0,3db TP when I sign my tracks with them.
I have a question regarding second step (Mid side EQ). When I am choosing while mixing/leveling either my tracks are mono/stereo (kick, bass-mono, some others stereo for example), then still I should do second step in mastereing and cut some highs from mono and lows from stereo? PS. Im noob. I will really appreciate answer on that! Peace!
@@OzgunOfficial I was doing what you showed step by step and I saw it by chance jaja thank you very much for sharing these videos, it has helped me a lot!
Hello, I have a problem. When I master my song and then exports it, the song master turns out to have low volume.. is there a fix to this? Pls urgent. I am using a Mac by the way..
Very good and helpful video! When i use SPAN after following your tutorial i reached around -12 RMS, if i boosted it to -7 it sounded completely distorted, is that because i maybe missed a step you went through or does it have to do with my sounds being to loud? Ty
Hey Ozgun, i dont know if youll see this but I just have a problem with the glue compression stage with the fruity limiter, every time i add the limiter its instantly compressing my song without me even moving the ratio or threshold so its way quieter than it should be. Is there anything i could be possibly doing wrong? Let Me Know Thanks

Very good and helpful video!
When i use SPAN after following your tutorial i reached around -12 RMS, if i boosted it to -7 it sounded completely distorted, is that because i maybe missed a step you went through or does it have to do with my sounds being to loud? Ty
Depends on how you gain staged your channels. It's possible something is too loud. How loud is your kick?
Fruity balance on master he brought volume down to -3db.
Hey friend, I can't find the MID-SIDE compression in my plug ins. Do you know where I can find it?
You should put a Patcher on the mixer and search under it's presets.

To clarify as soon as i add the limiter the sound waves basically are engulfed in purple
You can out a Fruity Balance before the limiter and reduce the volume a bit. Probably your mix is too loud.
@@OzgunOfficial Figured so, thank you so much for replying
@@OzgunOfficial i will implement these changes
cant get lower than about -17 RMS, what can I do?
It must be something hitting the limiter in your mix. Double check every sound in your track.
What is the volume percentage, that must be used during mastering
I'm currently aiming for -7 RMS approximately.
