    I was hired into one man office RMPO as a PSE. It's so small, I am the only one here and I barely get customers, It's open for 4 hours and I work the window (mind you I am not window trained, I even use the RSS at the main office, how that works is beyond me) I sell stamps, collected mail and packages that are prepaid, I also help back and ship. This office only has 30 P.O Boxes and barely gets 5 inches of mail/flats a day. I am doing administrative tasks on my own personal work computer as If I am a supervisor or post master. There is nothing for me to do. I work 6 days a week, but I feel like I leave home just to go back home. I have a mini fridge, toaster, etc, I even bring my nintendo switch, because there will be hours that pass before I even get a customer. This is a dream position and I love that I am working alone, with no supervisor, I can't imagine working around other people at the Post Office in a standard office.

    If you fail the window test twice, will the post still let you work at the station? Can you transfer to a plant if you don't like the station or don't need you at a station?

    • @Positivity876
      @Positivity876  2 роки тому +2

      If you’re a PSE that failed the window test, you’re safe. If you’re a PTF, you are not safe. Transferring as a PSE is unheard of. The way it works is you stay at the station you got hired until you make PTF. At that point, you’ll get a list of other locations that are hiring for PTFs. You would apply and wait to be accepted.

    I’ve been working as a PSE for over 10 months. I remembered I work 12 hours my 2nd day. Hell, I worked a couple of 13-14 hour shifts as well. And split shifts: 4am to 8-9am distribution and comeback at 12:15am for window. (4-5 days a week) Split shifts suck but they had me stop doing them because they no longer need me for 4am distribution because we hired two PSEs MPCs. I’ve been doing mainly window, dispatch, parcels for next day and I can’t complain of my schedule. I now start 9:00am or if they need me to open the window 8:15am. A lot better than starting at 4:00am with split shifts. Patience, persistence, and perseverance are key on doing this job. Same shit everyday but easy money.💰

I reapplied to another office for PSE/SSDA. I’ve been fingerprinted, all background checks etc done. I met that post master today. He seems very chill and was very transparent with me. I thank you for this video. I got a 100 on my Assessment. I was contacted, and I submitted all my info for the role. I also am waiting for the fingerprint appointment. I heard, once you score between 90 and 100, that you will get fast tracked. So far, that is proving true. I am a bit concerned about the hours, because as you said, you basically will have no life. However, I do need the money. So I will look forward to the challenge, and pray for a location that is "winning" and that has good energy with a great supervisor. Your video is what I needed to know what to expect. My role is a PSE, but I think I may get offered more than what the starting pay is, based on my assessment. What are your thoughts?

    • @Positivity876
      @Positivity876  2 роки тому +4

      Congrats! I don’t believe the speed of the hiring process is determined by the score. From the time you submit the application to accepting the position, it doesn’t take much longer from there. I’m glad my video was able to get you a better understanding and insight on what to expect. Also, a new employee is not offered more than the pay rate for the position that they accept. The assessment does not have anything to do with how much you get paid. Your hourly rate is located on the job announcement that you applied to, and that amount will reflect on your paycheck/stub. However, your pay will increase as you put time in. Good luck with your new endeavors and happy holidays to you.

I applied for this position on 01/21/22, completed the assessment on 01/23/22, received the conditional offer on 01/28/22. I gathered that it took longer to hear back because they extended the job posting by two days. I assume it was because they needed a specific amount of applicants to apply before they closed the position. I accepted the offer on 01/29/22 and completed the NACI and SF 85 Questionnaire on 01/29/22. I'm pending the fingerprinting capture, which needs to be done by 02/02/22. I sent an email to my point of contact on 01/29/22 (Saturday) but will call her on Monday, 01/31/22 to confirm an appointment for the fingerprinting. My time is ticking away! So far, it's been some effort to apply although I feel it will be well worth it. No real surprises at all although there is a lot "I don't know what I don't know".

      Hi! In order to know the answer to your question, you would have to revisit the job announcement you applied to. It should say career position or something else outside of that. Since you’re starting during the holidays, you will be doing overtime. Once the holiday rush is over, your hours “should” slow down if you’re not career, or as you stated “full time.”Take care.

      A person is hired for the exact position that they apply for. You will know which position it is because you applied for it. I’m only breaking things down here.
      On to the next part, the “window” is anything that runs in the line of Sales & Services Distribution Associate. If there is an assessment for 477, you’ll be at the window. The “handler” you mentioned is an entire different position. Mail Handlers do not work at the window.

      I was in this very same position. I accepted the Mail Handler position because the PSE/Sales & Services Distribution Associate position was canceled. I started searching around and found another PSE/Sales & Services Distribution Associate position, so o applied. Although it was risky, I declined my offer for the Mail Handler position and kept my fingers crossed that everything will work out the way I wanted it. I even had my start date for the Mail Handler position but I didn’t care because that’s not what I really want. Eventually it worked out for me and I got what I wanted.
      I explained my situation to show you where my mind frame was. It’s really up to you. I know that Mail Handler position is generally 12 hour shifts, 6 days a week. You will be in love with your paycheck, but you will not have a life. I don’t know for sure if you’ll be prone to work a few stations but that is how it works. As I’ve explained in the video, you may not get enough hours. I was just lucky to get an abundance of hours to the point where it’s overwhelming. Now that I’ve taken the time to explain, it’s all in your hands. Best of luck to you.

As far as the career position that’s 3 hours away, it wasn’t clear if you applied. However, If you did apply, then fine. It’s good to have multiple applications.

We also transport those in carts with wheels. Anything super heavy, we’ll ask for assistance from coworkers. The heaviness is not outrageous.

    What do PSE’s max out at? Do they get raises? I saw that they max out at $19 but I thought they start around there. Do all post offices have PSE’s? Will you always have to work super early (2am-4am) or super late (10pm-1AM?) is there no in between?

    • @Positivity876
      @Positivity876  2 роки тому +1

      I’m not sure what the max is because people are reluctant to share their salary/hourly rate. As you know, there are people who have been clerks for over 20 years. I would imagine that it’s a substantial amount. I started at $22.15 but I was lucky to start as a career employee (PTF). A PSE would start at $18/$19 an hour. I think the max pay might be in late $30s or $40 per hour for a clerk with over 20 years. However, as I said, I’m not sure. Just a guess.
      No, all post offices do not have PSEs. Mine does not.
      I’ve only heard of one situation where a PSE was working earlier than 4:30 am, but the norm is as early as 4:30 am. As far as lateness, 7 pm would be it. Anything beyond that is not the norm.
      PSEs generally spit hours, such as 2-3 hours in the morning and then 2-3 hours in the pm.
