que bom!! obrigado a você!
ممتاز 👌
Wonderful
Glad you liked it!
The three big things I learned in this lesson. 1. The "j" in viajar is pronounced like the "s" in measure. 2. The "d" in "adoro" is pronounced by touching the back of your teeth with your tongue. 3. Gostar + de + infinitive vs. Adorar + infinitive. I just had one question though...when you say "mas" it sounds a little bit like "mais", I don't think I have seen one of your videos that shows how to correctly say "mas"
Regarding pronunciation of "mas", you'll hear several ways of pronouncing it. "mas" is more of the standard, textbook pronunciation. "mais" is very common in casual speech. In Rio, you'll hear "maish". Basically regional and contextual differences. FYI I personally usually pronounce it as "mais"
Valeu!!
I recommend taking screen shots and then practice in photots
eu sempre sorri quando eu ver seu novo video
Obrigado :)
Muito bom
que bom que gostou!

@@DecodingWordswithAndrew Não, obrigado você
Love this. I have 2 questions.
Are you going to be covering when 'De' is supposed to be used/not. like there is an exception between Adoro/gosto and a many other words. I/ am very confused by when I should and shouldn't use 'De'
Also the final example you gave was with 'Adoro' if it was replaced with gosto would that final be sentence be translated to...
"Eu gosto de ler, viajar e aprender linguas" ?
Really incredible content btw. These have got to already be some of the best portuguese lessons on UA-cam.
For a very small set of verbs like "gostar", the "de" is just required...with most verbs, though, you won't use it. Regarding your second question--that is exactly right! For the videos in this series, I try not to provide too detailed of grammatical explanations as the goal to teach you to use your intuition (which apparently worked based on the correct example that you gave). I will have separate grammar-heavy tutorials, but these beginner videos are more to help you develop your "feel" for the language.
@@DecodingWordswithAndrew Great, keep this up. If you don't already you'll have a very profitable business based on the content you are putting out. This quality is unmatched.
My wife said adoro is ok to use but literally means adore over love. Said I could still use it. But personally I'd prefer to stick with amo because I've never been the type to adore something 😆
Yeah, "adore" is the English cognate, but I agree that that's not something that many native speakers would say (at least guys)...I would never say that either, I think my buddies would clown the hell out of me if they heard me say that :) "adorar" on the other hand, is very common...with similar languages such as English and Romance languages, it can be tricky navigating these similar sounding words and think of them of direct equivalents, when they in fact they have different nuances in terms of tone and formality.
if you're worried that using "adoro" would make you sound like you're from the 1800's, here are a few examples of it being used by young guys in a very natural way: 1) ua-cam.com/video/2jRDDcQ7WLw/v-deo.html ("mas eu adoro jiu-jitsu") 2) ua-cam.com/video/2TYX9o2-u3o/v-deo.html ("Como eu adoro jiu-jitsu, eu amo o esporte") 3) ua-cam.com/video/ncCQ4nvaZug/v-deo.html ("Eu adoro jiu-jitsu, adoro MMA")
In these contexts, "adoro" is used in the same way most native English speakers would use "love".
@@DecodingWordswithAndrew 💯 bro. Too many words that don't directly translate. Appreciate you
For sure--context is everything. If you've watched my "Hardest verb to translate" video, you'll see what I'm talking about ua-cam.com/video/Kb_06G-0gAg/v-deo.html
Muito brigada, i want to learn some phrases, daily conversation, and how we can say, here - there- that- these- since
Obrigado a você!
Where is the first lesson? I seem to be missing it.
Here you go! ua-cam.com/video/b0gHn6q0OgI/v-deo.html
The accent that I learn makes any S before a T an SH sound so essentially Gawsh-too 👍 Just thought I'd share that with people learning
👍
