Thank you so much. When I saw you uploaded another one I was so happy. These seriously are the best lessons on UA-cam. The fact that you are doing it for free is unbelievable. The way you coordinate each lesson to build on one another is so much easier and intuitive to learn, and slowing down with pauses so I have time to give each phrase a shot really helps. Most other videos just spam random phrases that have nothing to do with each other so I can’t even really tell what each individual word is. This method you’ve been adding to your videos is just the best. I actually have faith that I’ll be able to speak with my family in Brazil now, you’re the man! God bless
So happy to hear that the videos are helping you. Yes, there's a reason you don't really see series of videos on UA-cam that progressively build on one another in a logical, coherent way--creating them is a lot harder than just making a stand alone video. It has to be carefully thought out and it only gets harder the further in the series you get. That said, I think something like this needed to exist on UA-cam (even if it's a relatively short series), which is why I felt compelled to make it. If the videos continue to perform well, I would love to go up to lesson 10, but for now I will take it one video at a time. Thank you for your comments...they mean a lot to me!
Bro can we please get more lessons I'm enjoying this very much
Appreciate the feedback Eric! Glad to hear you're enjoying the videos!
This lesson was so amazing and mind blowing the way I was able to follow and create these sentences and get them correct you’re an amazing teacher 🌟 please continue creating these amazing videos… Obrigado 🥳
Great to hear that!
I’ve been using Duolingo and Babbel for 1 year. But wasn’t able to speak until I started watching these videos!
So great to hear you say that Alex! That's my goal, to get you actually speaking!
You deserve some kind of award for inventing the best way to teach a language
I appreciate it but I haven't invented anything :) so happy that you enjoy the videos though!
YES ❤️🔥
Me and my fiance would really love to know how much it would be to have you as a tutor in Brazilian Portuguese. You are MUITO excelente!!! ❤
Thank you so much! I don't do private lessons, but keep an eye on for more of these videos...I'll probably go up to lesson 10. If there's demand for more lessons, I'll consider building out a course...so stay tuned!

Eu sempre quis aprender português. Obrigado você brabo 👌
Que bom!!! você vai aprender rapidinho!
These lessons are just what I’ve been looking for since Language Transfer doesn’t have Portuguese. Thanks so much!!
Welcome and I'll be here to help on your Portuguese journey!
thanks a lot
My pleasure!
As a native English speaker who learned Spanish as a second language and recently decided to learn Brazilian Portuguese, your videos and teaching method is so enjoyable and easy to follow! Up to lesson 4 currently, look forward to completing the 10 and hope you have more upcoming! I signed up for the course wait list. Thanks for preparing these!
Great to hear you're enjoying the videos Rob! Just posted lesson 9 and should have 10 within the next few weeks!
@@DecodingWordswithAndrewamazing! Loving the content. I’m also going to go through your video about leveraging Spanish to accelerate Portuguese and your other content! Once I catch up with lesson 9/10, do you have any recommendations on what resources to continue with from there?
The only BR-PT resource out there that I would personally recommend (with a caveat, which I'll explain) is the FSI Portuguese Programmatic course: www.fsi-language-courses.org/fsi-portuguese-programmatic-course/
This is a free course which was developed in the 70's by the U.S. goverment to train diplomats. It's really comprehensive, but it teaches the formal, academic version of Portuguese which is very different from the colloquial form that you actually hear on the streets, in movies, in podcasts, etc. (to be fair though, this is how pretty much all BR-PT courses, books, apps out there teach it). So the caveat is that you have access to a tutor who can help you "convert" the type of language in the course into how people actually speak in the real world. It's a good tool for learning vocabulary and understanding basic theory, but just know that there are a lot of things that you would have to unlearn in order to make it functional for the modern, spoken language. You can check it out, it's definitely not for everyone since it's a really old and boring...but I'd still use it over any other app or book out there.
@@DecodingWordswithAndrew thanks for the heads up! That being said, I’m onto lesson 5 of your methodology, and I’d definitely concur with so many others that I’ve seen in the comments say that I’d be happy to pay/donate to you for you to create more lessons since I’m really enjoying learning it through you.
So great to hear that! Since you're on the wait list, you can expect to get more info in the upcoming weeks after I post lesson 10. Based on the response that I've gotten, the course will definitely get made. Beginning in October, I'm going to start investing a lot more time into this channel so you can expect to see videos coming out on a more consistent basis. Stay tuned!
Very interesting lesson.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great. Thank you!
My pleasure…glad you liked it!!
brilhante, um novo vídeo:)
obrigado James!!!
Fantastic 😍
Great to hear you liked it!
Thank u sir muito obrigada
Muito obrigado. Eu sempre quis aprender portugues porque eu practico capoeira. I'm doing it!
muito bom Kathy! keep going!!
Amazing content!!❤
Thanks for the lesson. You are helping me learn Portuguese. Do you plan to create a course?
Most likely...right now I'm just trying to provide as much free value as possible first
È muito bom também para pessoas com nível avançado. Isso ajuda a melhorar a pronúncia
que bom, fico feliz!
Este canal e muito bom para aprender, nao para (nao sei escrever os acentos)
que bom que vc gostou!!
It's interesting that in the "linguagem coloquial," the tendency is to say...
Esse filme (with "i" on the end). In short, most Brazilians would say...
Ele e ela (Êle i éla) Three "e" sounds!
👍

Question in the beginning you say how do you say I want to travel. I said Eu Quero de viajar. But the screen showed Eu quero viajar. I want to travel. Correct?
Yes, "eu gosto DE viajar" is "I like to travel", whereas "eu quero viajar" is "I want to travel"
Where is part 5!!!
working on it! these videos are taking more and more time to get it the way I want
AMAZING VIDEOS, PLEASE KEEP MAKING ORE I WILL PAY

Glad to hear that!
These videos are perfect don't stop
Thank you for your feedback, I appreciate it!
You are the best teacher🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉 ever
Thank you so much Mirriam!
Super helpful thank you! Could you please explain the 'quis' following "sempre" ? 😊
Glad you found it helpful, Stephanie! "quis" is in the past tense (specifically the preterite tense) of the verb "querer" (to want). If you'd like to go more in-depth with how verb conjugations in Portuguese work, you can check out this tutorial: ua-cam.com/video/Mii9OopUePg/v-deo.html
@@DecodingWordswithAndrew thank you so much Andrew! I've only stumbled across your channel today so I will be a regular watcher from now on! Muito brigada!
@@stephmaylx obrigado a você and welcome to the channel!!
When saying I like something it's always with a de before the subject but when I say I want something it's not in there, the de .... Por que?
The verb "gostar" (to like) is a verb that requires the "de"...only a very small group of verbs require the "'de"...most don't.
@@DecodingWordswithAndrew is there a specific reason or just because? 😂. Thank you
that's just the way the language works...some verbs like "gostar" will always need to go along with a preposition like "de". Others require "a", as with "começar" (começar a...). You'll just have to learn as you go which verbs require a preposition.
@@DecodingWordswithAndrew you are correct. That is just how the language works. I ask my wife and she has no idea why. It just is
@@erictrzaska5771 yeah, it’s like asking an English speaker why we say “to rely ON”, “to participate IN”, or “to depend ON”. An English learner would just need to learn the prepositions that go along with each verb.
How do I find lessons 1,2,3 thanks chris
Hey Chris! They're all part of this beginner's playlist: ua-cam.com/play/PLS2n39P9SS59z6E3tSSVsuQpzdn2xh30V.html
thank you!

glad you're enjoying them!
Eu gosto muito de aprender português com você. Muito obrigada.
Obrigado, fico feliz!!
@DecodingWordswithAndrew Thank you so much for the lessons, you make it look so easy. However, I was surprised that in saying "I've always wanted to travel a lot" the word 'muito' was used instead of the word 'mais'. Could you kindly clarify.
Hi Michael! "Muito" means "a lot" in this context. "mais" means "more.
@@DecodingWordswithAndrewI just went over your lesson 1 again, you stated there that "muito" means either "really" or "a lot". Thanks for the clarification.
Anytime Michael!
Fantastic lesson as always, thanks 🙏🏻
I appreciate it, glad you enjoyed it!
@@DecodingWordswithAndrew ps: I’m very much guilty of making direct translations in English I know that i should not but it’s hard to shake off) question I have using a simple example “can I have a beer, please” is the correct way to ask a waiter “eu quero uma cerveja por favor” ie I want a beer please or “posso ter uma cerveja por favor” ie can I have a beer please?
The best translation for "Can I have....please?" would be "Me vê.....por favor?" I talk about it here: ua-cam.com/video/Kb_06G-0gAg/v-deo.html
This is a case where the word-for-word translation "Posso ter....?" would not work. I actually made a short about it: ua-cam.com/users/shortsX8h-vP8MQ3I?feature=share
@@DecodingWordswithAndrew thanks you will definitely check it out 👍🏻
You are a true master in teaching language, better than lots of professors I have met.🎉
Thank you so much Bowen!
agreeeee
What does quis mean by itself?
"quis" is the past tense (more specifically the preterite) of the verb "querer" (to want). For more info about how the preterite tense is used, check out this tutorial: ua-cam.com/video/Mii9OopUePg/v-deo.html
FYI "querer" is an irregular verb so it doesn't follow the regular conjugation patterns.
@@DecodingWordswithAndrew thanks for the reply! I’ve only watched the videos for beginner so far, so I haven’t been able to learn all the conjugation patterns and the preterite tense but I’ll keep watching more videos and learn more!
I’m really grateful for your videos and please continue the great works!
appreciate it! and welcome!!
