Daniel, I truly appreciate your willingness to teach us "newbies" the hobby. You are the only person I've found on UA-cam that is actually sharing valuable education, information, and tips and we can use. Thank you for showing us the way step-by-step on how to identify, research and process our coins. Your honesty and generosity is refreshing.
I'm new to coin collecting and I enjoy the knowledge you provide us. I appreciate your honesty and the fact that you let us know what not to do, and the great references you provide us so we don't get ripped off. Thank you so much for your honesty.
Daniel, thank you for all of the informative videos you post. I just got started into "the next level" of collecting at the beginning of September. My wife thinks I'm nuts. Before, I would fill my books with the best example for each year. In September, I took the deep dive and emptied two large plastic pretzel containers that were each filled, one with pennies and the other nickels, dimes, and quarters that accumulated over the years. I've looked through the pennies for errors and high grades and have sorted the other coins. I asked a friend if he had any spare change laying around to sell to me and he said, "I have a few pennies". The "few" pennies turned out to be 173 lbs. of pennies that have been sitting in a glass water cooler bottle for 25-30 years! Most of the pennies are from 1960-1999. I have those sorted by decade and I'm starting to go through them. Many of these pennies look close to, if not flawless to me, especially since they've been sitting in a glass bottle for 20-40 years. I'm currently tossing the ones that are not errors or have blemishes or sulfur spots on them. My problem is I'm afraid I might be looking too closely at some of these coins when determining if they are at a certain grade. I compare them to images on the web and they do compare. It's hard to separate the error searching from the grade searching! How do I know I'm not tossing good coins? Thank you and keep the videos coming!
I am not not putting my coins out for sale yet because I am looking for information first. The was what I was looking for and still getting more. Was impressed by the professional straightforward format
This video popped up on my list at the right-hand side of the screen today. Perfect timing as I just came across a quarter that has stamping on it of another coin. Now, I can go through some steps to find out what it is, if it is worth paying for grading, how to sell it, etc. Thank you!
Doesn't sugarcoat anything. A lot of people want u to tell them what they want to hear I think people respect u more because u don't. Ur starting to grow on me this video has helped me a lot u just got a subscriber 👍👍
Daniel thanks for your help trust this you or a big help I've been a coin person for 39 years and enjoying doing so and learning as i go from your videos keep sending and sharing your a big help again thank you
Wow thank you very much I was lost for a long time now I can check all my coins I've been collecting for years thank you Daniel I really appreciate you taking time for us little people who are clueless....🙏
I sure do appreciate of your knowledge on coins that I have just gotten myself into, which is and can be overwhelming , but I sure appreciate someone like you that helps me to know what to do and search and look for in my coin hobby.
Another great video. So far I believe the most interesting error which I have come across was a 1901-O Morgan with a Rotated Die that was graded XF45. I believe the rotation was about 45 degrees from where it should've been.
Oddly enough, I was just looking through some coins I got in change at Lowes yesterday, I believe I got a 1986-P Lincoln Cent Broad Struck. Is there anywhere else I could share an image of it? I don't have Facebook. Thanks,
Dan, excellent video; one of your best! Q - A grade assignment applies to both obverse and reverse of a coin, correct? Q2 - Are rotated dies mint errors, and does the degree of rotation have a relationship to the value of the coin? If I have learned anything from you, it is this; DO THE RESEARCH! Thanks, Dan.
Yes it does and it is a mint error and it can increase value based on the coin type, some early coins are known for rotated dies. So a look up on Heritage Coin Auctions sold auctions for rotated dies would help a lot. Thanks!!
Very good video! My Pap was an ardent coin collector, and I took his collection as part of the estate settlement! I have been gradual selling off the collection as I’m older now,and use it to pay my healthcare! The grading question is a tough one , AND I like your attitudes toward it! I’ve had a couple dozen coins graded and my results are mixed at best! I sent a dozen $2.50 Quarter Eagles to NGC, and low and behold several came back has mount removed, so I probably didn’t recover the grading cost on them! One came back MS 66, so I probably made a few hundred above grading on that one! So, it is mixed! I’ve made the decision toNOT submit the 50 Morgans I’ve left because they are all common date, and if I get the conserved as many are toned, and graded, it’s tough to get your money back on E-bay! Anyhow thanks for your honest opinion, some guys are not as even handed about the whole question as you are! Thanks again! Tom (beemabear on E-bay)
Wow Daniel That is for sure Great information & for the folks That have no clue as to what they Have (or) might Not have and the price of getting Coins Graded, Good Stuff ! And as always thanks for The time to Share..
Not sure how you continue teaching novices while most thoughts must be on more significant and wildly varied coins, subjects. Thank you., it is appreciated.
Thank you, this video was very informative. I thought my coins that have a yellowish/goodish one side would be rare, but I guess that lady at the wheel of the Lowell just wanted her dress and everything else not silver that day. Before I chuck them in my spend pile I'll look them up anyways, now that I have a good start where. Thank you
Hey Daniel love watching your videos i do agree with everyone else you are the most honest person I've watched and that's no offense against anyone else i watch some of there videos to but I have learned so much through your videos and your self glad you are there and thumbs up to you keep it up !!!
Excellent video, tons of information. I had to back up the video several times in order to absorb the information so that I could take notes. GREAT INFORMATION!
Great Advice wish more people would take the time to learn more before blaming the graders for their failures. Thanks for sharing I will be passing this to many of my subscribers!
Thank you for your time and knowledge in this video, If I could seen this a year ago. Ive been lookin for fact about value vs public opinion. Ive come into a good little Lincoln Cent collection for a few different people (family) with a combined age range from 1920-1980.

But yes I have a lot of nice ungraded coins .once I figure out how to take pic and then send it ,I'm going to burn the air waves with them . Yours truely , Roger D. Curry (Odman, Toll Tide Roll)
Outstanding video. I see it all the time. People want someone to tell them what it is and is it worth anything. If anyone is into this hobby you have to put some effort in it. Study, learn, watch videos, rad books, articles, enough information to last for years. Too much work. What is this error? Is it worth sending to get graded? How much does it sell for? Thanks so much.
There is a way with computer tech. It's like facial recognition where you put a coin in front of it it scans then goes to tech. Library (you know ) any mint marks will show up .Bingo!,
May I also recommend, in addition to all these great homework steps Daniel suggests, to also take the coin to your local coin stores to get 2nd & 3rd & 4th opinions on what to do with the coin?
Thanks for all the straight to the point help... I've been watching your video's for a while now. This one got hit me to like, subscribe... oh yeah and I hit the bell. Do u do much paper money ??
Ok, I was thinking that, cuz I watch ur vids. ALL the time and I really never see you talking about paper currancy. Reason for me asking is, I have a 2013 * note $20 Bill that also, is a fancy serial number " Birth date " bill. The serial number is. ML 03301998* I can't find one like it, to get an idea of a value. I do know that it's not a low run but, ppl still buy, sell & collect all * notes. I just can't seem to comparing MY two rarity.
Daniel...hey brother, I've got this 2002 D Lincoln...g in god is there, but od isn't...well they are there, but you can barely see them...and on the date...200 is what is showing...the last 2 is there..you have to look for it...the obverse is a doubled die..man I have tried getting on a few if your community forum..but no can do...I really like to share this coin..its a beautiful red..any way, I guess you can see on my fb page...not really got the handle on technology...and didn't realized there is so many different ways on any coin...but to me, it's a treasure hunt everyday...you sure have been the biggest help on my journey to find that one coin...
Ive been watching other people doing what Daniel is doing. I am learning more now with Daniel. I got so many coins that I am planning to send to ANACS for grading. With this presentation, I will go to all the websites Daniel mentioned. Daniel, is it okay to send you few pictures of what I believe RARE coins or ERROR coins? Please let me know. Thanks
Thanks for the information, Daniel. But one question how do you find out things on newer coins that aren’t on those sites? Like say the new 2021 coins?
Just started looking at coin videos. You are the most informative by far. Thank you for all your info. Will be starting a hobby of collecting pennies and hopefully be sending you a pic one day of the one we've all been looking for !

Also a 1894-o Morgan silver dollar in MS62 condition - also has to be OFFICIALLY graded (never did trust handwritten 2x2 grades) and encapsulated. That was $750 right there! Thank you, Daniel, I think online your the best and my first go to. I have a coin I believe it is an MS-70/MS-69 with a triple strike. The coin has definitely given me goosebumps. I know how to grade and have been very accurate on the coins I have sent in. 90% last time, however, I don't want this coin damaged by the grading guys. Heritage has been very good to me, what course do you recommend. I have become very skeptical about the grading companies.
If you don't trust them then you're stuck with just guessing what your coin is. Go to a show and submit or fly to PCGS and submit in person. I can't answer that question. No one can when there's trust issues.
Hi Daniel people always ask about toy trains and coins , most of them want to make a killing on resale, i always tell them to buy what you like because you may not be able to sell it. PS i like the way you graded my test fast and good i missed 4. HA HA HA
HELP. I have a 2010 p Yellowstone Quarter with no copper showing on the edge. Its not silver but from all I can find it should have the copper edge. I can't find anyone else with this error on any State/State Park Coins. Is this that rare or am I in error or just not looking in the right place? Any info is appreciated. Thank You
Hi, i have two coins that i think might be worth some money, one has a x letter between the words one cent, and the other one is a 2011 lincoln shield coin D with several double dies, what should I do? Please answer me I need help.
Wow Daniel!!! Lol@8:35..SO TRUE!!! (that would be me!🙄) Lol..also after watching this video several times I'm So excited to see you showed me how to use EBay 😁! I've been wanting to see how that EBay stuff works! I hope after a few more times watching this..I might actually be able to figure that out!!! 🤔😏 Your a great teacher!!🤗😉 Now I need to figure out HOW..to find your app!😜 would you happen to have a video of that??? #ADDthatsMe🤯
I recently submitted to PCGS a $20 US double eagle and received a planchette flaw which was produced by the mint. How does this effect the coins value?
Well now I'm kinda sad but greatful for the honest info. I thought until now that I had found the coin that was going to make my life a little easier but not so much now. I have a 1922 Liberty silver dollar with the word trust spelled wrong but I guess because there may be a lot of them out there that it's probably not going to help my situation. However, I'm going to keep collecting coins and who knows, I just might strike it rich one day. Thanks so much for the info.
How do I find coin dealers near me to buy junk silver from at melt or just above like you said? I live very rurally in WI. I was on Ebay and they seem really high for Roosevelt dimes.
This is what you would do for those who come in with their coins to your shop? It can be very time consuming, so people ought to understand why an appraisal fee is reasonable.
I have a collection of pennies from the year 1909 on up. They were my Dad's collection. He had a business and collected many from customers. He died 3 yrs ago at the age of 93. I inherited his collection and now would like to sell. Which is the best trusted site?
I can send you a few photos. There are 3 old metal 1943 pennies and 3 more that look mint. The latter he could have ordered. I would like to talk to you. Cant seem to find a email address of yours to personally discuss this with you.
Hi Daniel. Great video. I have a dime that is definitely not worth anything. It looks like some post mint damage on it. But that's not what I'm looking at. There is a pattern on the inside of the rim that I am curious about. I'm simply asking you if I can send it to you so maybe you can tell me what the pattern is. My curiosity is killing me. I have another with the same damage but it's plain. Let me know if you can help me, please. Thank you.
No I don't look at patterns on coins since that's not an error and would not be of importance to other collectors. You should never let shapes on a coin bug you because the mint didn't do that. It's toning or some type of damage.
I have a quarter that a friend found in the 1970s. It has an eagle on both sides, on 1 side I can see Washington's head a little bit under the eagle. She passed away last year and left it to me. It weighs 6 grams or 7
I found a 1983 p quarter in my pocket change, it's in good condition but I noticed that below Washington's nose his profile is out more, it's different than the other 1983 p quarters that I have, I can't seem to find any reference on this error , it's not MD , thanks for any info

Hi, i have two coins that i think might be worth some money, one has a x letter between the words one cent, and the other one is a 2011 lincoln shield coin D with several double dies, what should I do? Please answer me I need help.
Does a 1982 P copper small date penny have to have a defect like doubling, to be valuable?

I recently submitted to PCGS a $20 US double eagle and received a planchette flaw which was produced by the mint. How does this effect the coins value?
Would have to look up sold auctions at Heritage but minor things like this don't add value.
No the V in LIBERTY is normal.
I appreciate your hard work
How do I find coin dealers near me to buy junk silver from at melt or just above like you said? I live very rurally in WI. I was on Ebay and they seem really high for Roosevelt dimes.
Got to coin shows and call around.
This is great you answered a lot of my questions. Thank you
Thank You
Daniel

I have a Au58 1921 walker and looking for d and s mint too
This is what you would do for those who come in with their coins to your shop? It can be very time consuming, so people ought to understand why an appraisal fee is reasonable.
I have a collection of pennies from the year 1909 on up. They were my Dad's collection. He had a business and collected many from customers. He died 3 yrs ago at the age of 93. I inherited his collection and now would like to sell. Which is the best trusted site?
I am trusted. I don't vouch for dealers I don't know personally. What state are you in?
@@CoinHELPu georgia
I have 3 , three fold books of them. I dont trust dealers either. You can trust me.
I can send you a few photos. There are 3 old metal 1943 pennies and 3 more that look mint. The latter he could have ordered. I would like to talk to you. Cant seem to find a email address of yours to personally discuss this with you.

I have a 1966 penny that has a backwards k instead of N in in God we trust do I have something or no
Not sure how to go about selling it or it's value
Very helpful. Thanks.
Love the show brotha
I have a quarter that a friend found in the 1970s. It has an eagle on both sides, on 1 side I can see Washington's head a little bit under the eagle. She passed away last year and left it to me. It weighs 6 grams or 7
How can I contact sir
Sir me I know you're phone #
I found a 1983 p quarter in my pocket change, it's in good condition but I noticed that below Washington's nose his profile is out more, it's different than the other 1983 p quarters that I have, I can't seem to find any reference on this error , it's not MD , thanks for any info
Very good info. I'm loving it.
