Gorgeous song, gorgeous voice. Can't wait to see her perform in London next year.
It's weird how this song is just about house hunting, but it carries so much emotion
It's because it's just a neutral observation of life and life is depressing
personal problem
It's about the soul crushing nature of suburbs innit
and with only 2 chords the whole time backed with a simple riff 🥰😍
suburbia is the illusion of a dream life, still it's got rich stories of lives lived.
The way the shot is near the end, with her in the middle and people walking by, the way the amp sounds, the way she's playing, the lyrics... I don't know why but it's made me tear up each time.
this is my favorite moment in the universe so far
+sorcervs What a wonderful thing to say.
the thing I love about her is that she just hits the most perfect specific notes without using a very large range
Jesus Christ, "Sometimes I Sit and Think, and Sometimes I Just Sit" is amazing. I listened to it top to bottom twice today. Courtney's easily one of my favorite artists of 2015. Good stuff.
Another perfect blogotheque video. They get it. Courtney I've been neglecting you lately. Watching this makes me lonesome for you. I love you and I miss you.
i'm absolutely infatuated with this
A keen ear for decent music !!
BEAUTIFUL. RECORDING.
crazy how all those people walked by her without even noticing. I WOULD BE IN COMPLETE SHOCK!
She is a powerhouse! Geez. I can't make that much noise/presence with a 2X12 amp!
The new font is so clean
Jordan Murawa lol thanks
***** lol no problem
Jordan Murawa THAT is what you choose to comment on? your sound must have been muted, right?
"It's a Californian bungalow in a cul-de-sac"
Favourite line.
I love her voice and her lyrics so much!
So beautiful. Who disliked it is not human.
It is cats
Simple, broken down, and a little rough around the edges. What a great way to enjoy some Courtney B. P.S. I always loved those pressed metal ceilings.
The set and video production of this is beautiful, natural and raw. A joy to watch.
This is so therapeutic
She’s so beautiful and talented ugh why did I only find her now
Amazing. I can always count on Blogothéque to show me good music that I didn't know beforehand.
love these lyrics
i wonder if anyone who walked theough the shot knows who she is and that they're in the video 🤔
and many years later, this remains my favorite recording of this song~💖
Great music, lyrics, voice. Thanks a lot for this one. The more I hear her, the more importnat she seems to me.
I love you Courtney! I hope you do swing by Northern California real soon. I would love to see you live singing and jamming out on the songs that I relate to so much. I'm in my early 20's and everything you talk about on this album is right up my alleyway. Anxiety. Mundane days. Depression. Isolation. Coming of age in an adult world. I feel you so much through your lyrics because I am directionless 21 year old mess. Thank you for sharing your music and creative talents to the world and myself! Much love coming from California.
Her first take away show is how I found her before she got super famous
themanwiththething same here!
themanwiththething Is she super famous now? Im in a similar boat as you, but I didnt know she was super famous (although she would be rightfully so) now.
themanwiththething She's really not THAT famous...hardly anyone showed up for her show at Sasquatch this weekend
palbo4 How was her show/the festival in general?
Voxtopass Alt Oh man, the festival was amazing and she was one of the best I thought. I was right by the stage really getting into it and she kept giving me this huge grin...made my whole weekend haha
I fucking miss France, terribly. Great performance, she’s like a modern day Townes Van Zandt or something, idfk but take a bow
that zoom out... Omg
Raw, real & beautiful
Beautiful!!!!
Courtney Barnett, gahhh what a dream boat.
Yeah I love Courtney Barnett
Nice little song! Nice to recognise familiar streets too..
Happy discovery
Always like when they let them do electric like this hah :) great vibes here
Damn, that was fantastic.
krásná píseň
Courtney, far the best on nowdays
I love this guitar tone - Anyone has tips how to recreate this? Or is this just a typical tele-sound?
This video is fantastic. It's style is perfect, the performance is great. Camera work is great. This video is cash as fuck.
jolly good.
another lefty to love. ^..^
Although this song just consists of two chords it really sounds great with the smooth vocals.
I prefer so much this solo version to the album version.
She looks tired. I am in love with her.
Arent we all?
fuego
Love
que amor
i wuv her.
❤
Sounds a lot like Dylan songwriting
Agreed
+Patrick S, she's more personal, less preachy... with no fear of irony.
^..^
+ridovem very post punk. I agree.
I always see her songwriting style, and on this song in particular, as the aesthetic of "Clothes Line Saga" taken to a new level
the guitar is a lot like Sports "Harder" from "All of Something", also great music from 2015
The first time I heard CB I was sure she was an Aussie bogan comedian. I still think that.
Courtney’s brief eye contact followed by guy flitting through at 0:29 💕
The people are only short people and that's like this!!HI!HI!HI!!
nice
the girls who respectfully walk out of the camera's way at 4:15 :'-)
Kinda curious how it was recorded... Where's the microphone? And where does the guitar cable is going to? Can't see the amp , even when the camera goes further away...
You can see the amp (I think it's a Honeytone) on her belt in the last 1/3 of the video along with all the mic cables in a silhouette.
what is this little amp ?
Fluix On Honeytone!
Mateo Rivas I bought a Honeytone amp on Amazon, was broken when it arrived. Sent back for another and that was also broken. Bought an Orange mini amp instead and it's great.
Zachariah Renken It sounds great. Amazon sent me mine in mint condition. Really cool, loud and punchy. But I guess getting the Orange worked out great as well.
can I find her exact chords and strumming anywhere??
f chord, on b string from the third fret slide to the fifth fret then back to the third to the first, then c chord... sorry i made it seem complicated but once you play it you'll get it fast
better late than never I suppose
It makes me sad how people pass as if nothing is happening.
Has a Neil Young/ Dead Man kinda vibe to it.
I don't know
Anyone know what chords she's using?
Chris Young Open C (x32010) and FMaj7 (xx3210). It's basically just these two in repetition with some variations.
thanks alot man!
Montmartre?
Paris c"est sur
Es zurda toca la guitarra al revés con las cuerdas cambiadas....
I'm your Atlanta 18. There is some shitty band playing our festivals named Barnett Courtney. Sue them honey!!!!!
Better than Billy Bragg
jesus...I guess anybody can be a ....musician?
Please, go be a musician, sell a bunch of records, tour, make money, and get your live clips posted on UA-cam so experts like you can chime in.
lyrically this is just awful
in what way?
Do better.
