This is so human I love it, they're just playing music having a good time, and even if they make a little mistake they just laugh. I really think the human element is lacking in music today. This is a breath of fresh air.
This is probably my favorite tiny desk concert. I come back to it when I’m going through hard stuff and it brings me comfort. I just realized that Courtney and Kurt mirror each other when they play like Paul and John 🥰
I’ve lived in Indonesia for about a year or so. There wasn’t a day on which I wouldn’t put my headphones on, hop on my motorbike and just roam towards nowhere listening to Kurt. The scenic route together with Kurt’s voice and lyricism painted some of the most vivid memories I’m happy to have.
I love the whole feel of their project together, and the album is great. Not trying to harmonize much or do too much, just two friends from across the globe, trading verses and having a good time.
As soon as I saw they were making an album together I was like, "YES!!!" Pre-ordered it right away and love every second of it. So glad these two came together to make an album together.
But it’s not good enough when there are real musicians out there who deserve to be k. A stage like this. This took no effort ladies and germs zero, and you still applaud? It’s time to start standing up and saying no, we deserve better on stages like this and it’s out there
@@MrNines-lh1fg like who, you? If that Aretha Franklin cover on your page is you then definitely not. Don't talk shit about talented people if you can't back it up. Basically, you fucking suck.
I love these sessions, you can hear those little mistakes every now and then and see the artists smile because of that. It feels like a more intimate session after all.
This is a very important aspect that is very much overlooked. Starting musicians, especially kids, think that mistakes should be avoided - you need to stick to the sheet. The more you start discovering yourself as an artist, you realise that mistakes are beautiful... they take you to places you never thought existed. Mistakes must be embraced, they must be welcomed, forgiven, and accepted. I know there is a video of Yo yo ma (cellist) somewhere on youtube where he welcomes, acknowledges the first mistake he makes in a concert - and then continues playing. That's great philosophy for life right there!
I don't know how many times I've revisited this video... It's my go-to when I need to work but am feeling anxious. I just put it on the side or in the background. These two are my favorites and can soothe like no other.
I love the feel of this. Friends just jamming out to their own tunes. Wait, Are you in tune? Yes. (tunes) OK? It'll have to do. They let us into their friendship for a few minutes. So much better than over practiced perfection. Embrace the warts.
This was not rehersed at all. Courtney keeps waatching what Kurt is doing. Then, every once in a while she looks into space ang gets a great idea of her own and throws it in there. This is amazing!!!
I have the impression this is what two musically talented kids growing up on a desert island would produce on their own music without the influence of classical/traditional musical training: chords, harmonies, rhythm patterns, you name it. There is not a single second of predictability in this and their talent still shines through every single beat. Love it! Zs
When songs from their collaborative album first started playing on the radio, I turned on my car and heard Kurt singing. My first thought was, "Holy cow! A male Courtney Barnett!" and then she started singing.... I thought it could not make more sense for them to do a duet/collaboration; it's like they were made for each other.
@@plutosgardener2631 the comment I replied to has since been deleted. It was more funny before, trust me. Thanks for the heads up; I'm deleting my comment since it no longer has the intended effect.
Melting a little over these two lovely artists... brings a feeling as if they barely realize they are in front of an audience, and instead feel like light heartedly jam seshing in a little room in a house with good acoustics.
Bob says this isn't about reaching new music heights, but I might disagree. This is Indie gold. The Barnett/Vile album is Iconic and will be a classic.
That moment at 2:30 is so wholesome and tells you all you need to know about the friendship between these two. Love them both dearly! Can't wait to see you at End of The Road festival, Mr Vile!
The musical styles of these two just flow so well together and it makes me so happy. I immediately fell in love with this project especially since I LOVE Courtney so much I'm in tears. It has been a great week or so at the Tiny Desk Tysm NPR
I fell asleep watching UA-cam one night. When I woke up, this was playing. What an amazing collaboration. Everything about it is just brilliant. So glad I stumbled across it.
Perfectly imperfect. This just make me grin. Finally worked out what it reminds me of - Pavement at their very best. I can't think of a higher compliment...
After discovering this only a week ago, I've become slightly obsessed with it! What an awesome performance. So much charm and personality. And talent. Shitloads of talent. I've bought Lotta Sea Lice as a result. Thank you Tiny Desk!
Like these two a lot separately. LOVE them together!!! An example of the result equaling more than the sum of the individual parts. One of my favorite duos, and altogether acts in modern music.
This duo is greater than the sum of it's parts. Saw them at The Anthem in Washington dc. At first I was upset because I wanted to see CB3 but it ended up being one of the most uplifting experiences of my life
The chemistry between them in this performance is undeniable; it is such a joy watching them perform here, with Courtney's candid smiles and giggles, NPR's homely decor, and the duo behaving so naturally and relaxed, focused only on having a good time. It's a pity the two of them are not and would never be together...
First Courtney was my favorite new artist - playing a loop. Now Kurt and Courtney together have rendered all playlists, all unplayed. They go together like sunshine and daisies, rivers and meadows, mountains and rocks. Too much. Too beautiful - and Everywhere for FREE. This music connects us to right now - something special, in the only time we ever have to live in. One young Aussie and a Vile stranger could save the world with song. I believe that. Do you? Thanks Courtney and Kurt - just don't stop.
As with so many Tiny Desk vids, this made me a fan of an act who's studio work I never would have been drawn to. Other live recordings of this set have reverb on the vocals and these beautiful voices are dimmed amid the noise if the band. This is so perfect, and I adore this work and these artists so much. So very happy to have found this one.
One of my favourite albums from 2017. This is a fantastic collaboration between two very talented musicians who seem to be genuinely enjoying performing and working together. A pleasure to watch and hear.
I love them, Courtney songs hanging with me everywhere since almost 2 years and I can’t get enough. Kurt did a great job with hope Sandoval I love him too, both are great and passionate

I think what appeals to most that like Kurt and Courtney is that they are very human. For whatever reasons not one of Kurt's better days but there are times he is just on fire. He seems to overcome a lot to perform live. Yet he never says he is uncomfortable. I first saw Courtney on Austin City Limits, she just took the place over. She is a breath of fresh air. Complicated lyrics, complex guitars, how do they play and sing at the same time?!?! Amazing musicians ❤️

Luis Moldes good thing she's not. The world be a dull place lol
Both of them seem like the most pleasant people in the world
Joao RK definitely. But it doesn't make them the "coolest beings on the planet"

Zsolto66 That's what you think? Really? Desert island music without western influence would sound pretty distant from diatonic chords and 4/4 time.
It's honest..while unexpected and different they are both musicians, u don't just accidentally play these chords in this timing.
