The characterization in this soccer scene alone is insane... Begbie kicking someone in the leg, sick boy yelling at someone, spud getting yelled at for being stupid, and Tommy getting pinned in a corner.... lots of foreshadowing
Qialú To shatter a glass on someone’s head or stab them with broken shards of a glass in bars in the UK - pretty nasty injury that happens in bar fights
This movie reminds me so much of me and my old friends, but seriously, it’s scary how accurate this film is to my old group. We were all young and dumb, doing bad shit, doing drugs, hanging out in a crack house all the time rotting away our lives. We had a large falling out kinda how Renton did with his buddies, I can resonate with him the most cuz almost the exact thing happened, I just left all my friends even my best friend for no reason at all, just cuz I was bored of my life. Oh how I took all that time for granted
@@farelervehomosapiensler ironically enough quite like the second movie played out. Our story is still yet to be finished but in the mean time things played out very fucking similarly to the second film in a lot of ways. My best friend, like sick boy does in the film, has a hatred for me a strong one but the good old memories seem to have kept our bond strong. I know he doesn’t like me and he knows I don’t like him. But deep down, we’re still best mates. And honestly everyone else has played out exactly the same, the one friend I cared the least about while leaving like begbie seems to despise me in lots of ways, I don’t blame him, I don’t fucking like him neither. He wants to beat my ass just like begbie haha. The other like spud is just depressed and miserable with his life. Still holding on to drugs for a coping mechanism as that’s the only friend who never changed. Never left him.

Because both things are mainstream now. But the way he looked was very much part of the choose life agenda, and his decision to reject it.
The soccer part where Sick boy argues about an intentional violation he commited while Begbie openly commits a violation and even looks happy doing it says alot about their characters. This film has so many genius in it
This is top five opening sequences worthy along with,- Joe vs. the Volcano, maybe a couple others we could argue. That monologue is a prime example of how astonishing Danny Boyle is.
If you’re from the UK and you think it sounds a bit off it’s because the first 20 minutes the movie was dubbed for American audiences to help them understand the Scottish dialect
I feel as though the part where he started laughing after he got hit by the car wasn’t part of the script. Like that was the actors real reaction and they just left in the movie.

I went to Edinburgh because of the movie and the book, I didn't fucking realize I was living in a hotel at Princess Street, which is the street they're running about. I realized only when I got back home and rewatched the movie later.
yeah i mean they did a good job copying the books story line here, way better than the sequel. I think they wanted to start the film off with some fun and enjoyment, instead of straight into desperation withdrawal scene with Renton and Sickboy. But yeah there's a lot more going on in the book than in the film, all Irvine books are literary gold.
When they originally released the movie in America, Miramax was worried Americans would have difficulty understanding the accents. So, they had the actors re-record the dialogue for first 15 - 20 minutes of the movie and had it dubbed in
