Just a few questions... Was it possible to note anything of the GBC remake on this version? I would love to collect monster medals and battle at the GBC extra dungeons in HD! @@nelsonmultiverso I know they mentioned that this is meant to be the "definitive version" at the demo event so I'm assuming most everything from any of the other re-releases will probably be present here at some point. Take that with a grain of salt though!

Voice acting? That's great! I honestly wasn't expecting it, since none of the games prior to 8 had voice acting before. It's a welcomed feature.

That would be impossible Goku's First Dub actor Kirby Morrow he passed away like 4 years ago right before Miruko showed up the 1st time in the Inuyasha sequel Yashahime Princess Half Demon episode 6 in 2020.

I agree! I was around for the very first game on the NES, and despite not knowing what the hell I was doing, it managed to snag me even then! It's the main reason why I went and bought a copy of Dragon Quest 11

had tears in my eyes when we saw erdrick, its the first DQ cover art (that im aware of) not made by Akira Toriyama... Something about Erdrick standing instead of kneeling in the SFC version, like hes looking forward to whats ahead got to me. Its like theyre saying the series will be/feel different from now on without the GOAT but we can still look forward to it
Is there an option to play battles in third person and you can actually see characters act out their attacks and spells?

I know first person battles are just how old DQ games are and for whatever reason they just don't update. Except for DQ7, where they did update the battles to first person on the 3DS remake when the original ps1 version was first person. The sole exception so far.
Loved DQ8 and later in this series, but first person battles just arn't my thing.
I'm super stoked for everyone else though. Looks like a solid release otherwise~

Never got into dragon quest before but i LOVE the Octopath series. After seeing this i might have to save up money now lol
This remake looks great. I recently played the first three games on Switch and there are so many other games to play, so I will probably prioritize other games like Mario & Luigi: Brothership which releases a week before.
DQ3 is a prequel to the first two, so you don't need to know about them to play.
I like the idea of the lore of a legendary hero of yore being weaved into a story, only to then go back and play as said legendary hero, experiencing his story.
I've played the Switch port of the mobile version of Dragon Quest III, and the difference between that and HD-2D Remake is night and day. Don't sleep on this remake, folks; even as a very casual Dragon Quest fan, I can see that this remake is something special.

Can you set it so that you can see your own party during the battles? My main gripe about the DQ series is how you can only see the enemies facing you
They show up when you're choosing your abilities and there may be an option available that I missed in the menu but otherwise battles look how they appear in the b-roll footage I included.
I was just blown away when I first saw the trailer. I hardly recognize some of the areas shown. I’ve planned a dubbed playthrough of that game for so long after I finished my dubbed playthrough of I-III on Switch not long before this game was first announced. Now I got to run one last epilogue episode for III’s to pave way for its definitive edition later this year. I already preordered the collector’s edition. I don’t care what people think of the bundle, those Idyllic blocks of the heroes and archfiends look pretty cool. I even noticed from them that they added Monster Wranglers/Masters as a new teammate vocation. Perhaps my Martial Artist Mozarella can become a true friend of monsters at last this way. Just check my channel for the whole playthrough. I’ll use my old cast with a redefined script for this game real soon. Let’s begin the legend of Erdrick, the Hero of Salvation! (I’m calling main heroes by their game’s subtitles. Ex. VIII’s Hero of the Cursed King and Solo from IV and Monsters: The Dark Prince I’m calling The Hero of the Chosen.)

Oh god that bit about the new saving features is music to my ears. I still have PTSD of me losing so much progress in 11 because I didn't fully understand saving at a church versus whatever bad auto save feature it had in it. It made me quit the game until the Switch version came out.

Something I've noticed in what gameplay we've seen is, during battles, right of the attack command is an "abilities" command. I really hope this means that they've added physical skills like Flame Slash and Multithrust in this game, since Dragon Quest 3 didn't have the abilities command nor physical skills such as those originally.

I've fully finished DQ3 multiple times (minus some of the medal collecting). Always the Hero and 3 Sages lol. It looks so good. I'm gonna reserve judgement until it drops, because I heard something about not being able to choose your targets? Weird change but maybe they were doing autobattle and it got lost in translation. But otherwise it sounds good!
My childhood 😭😭😭😭 can't wait to play 1 and 2! I'm overflowing with nostalgia! From game boy color to switch. 😭😭 Come 2025!

markers being a toggle is nice to hear and will definitely be one to turn em off due to a HUGE part of Dragon Quest 3 is getting lost in it's world figuring out where you could go next by talking to the NPCS in each town. One of the best games of the series alongside being one of the most important games ever made is about to get even better and cannot WAIT to replay it again and again and again and again and-

i myself will be picking this up on pc i have it wish listed on steam. 60 dollars is a fair price for a remake in my opinion some people have said that they think 60 dollars is to much and too them i say why.if it is a fully done hd2d remake they deserve the full 60 dollars in my opinion.

Roger, do you recommend It more on PS5 or on Switch?. And I mean It because the original trilogy was on Nintendo, but idk if there is any improvement. I wish there was a way to play with headsets on Switch TV mode though.
I'd say if fps matters to you get the PS5 version since it runs at 60 fps! If you're like me and really want to play it handheld, Switch is the way to go. It's on Steam and Xbox too!

This isn't my cup of tea, because aside of FF, I'm not into other type of JRPG. But now I'm more interested into DQXI, and this HD-2D Remake Trilogy, since they are connected.
Gears of War E-Day, DOOM: The Dark Ages, GTAVI, this, 2025 seems like a great year.

I got worried when you said the PS5 bersion has a 30fps version. This game shouldn't need a 30fps mode on PS5 its not a super graphically intensive game if anything the base should be 60 4k native with an option for 120fps mode. This news has me worried for the optimization of the game

yup. they went the lazy route there, instead of making use of the wonderful art to make fully fleshed out animations for the characters, they defaulted to garbage old school DQ first person battles. that alone makes it not worth 60 bucks to me.

I'm just a little upset that the environments don't look pixelated like that of an SNES game. That's the look I was expecting them to go for, with these HD 2D titles. It's what made octopath traveler look so good
i personally like the hd 2d remake the way it looks from what i have seen why do you think palpitation would make it look better. i personally did not like the pixelated look myself in octopath travler.
