Can we just appreciate the photo quality and the colours from the Pixel? Just stunning.
Pixel cameras has always been better than Samsung. It's too bad Samsung is more focused on gimmicky things that we won't use after a week than what we really care about and that is cameras.
@@NewYorksFinest1pixel is the apple of android it doesn’t offer as many features but the ones it does are super fine tuned for every scenario
over sharpness and faulty separation is nice !
@@ashouhdylame
@@NewYorksFinest1 But Samsung has always got a better display+the S24 Ultra camera will get better with updates
Just got the pixel 8 pro and its the first time i have a high end phone. Never been into taking pictures but damn, this phone got me hooked on the photography thing lol the camera is so good
I preferred the Galaxy on your trainer pic at the bar because it showed how the light bulbs really looked
I'm so disappointed with the S24 Ultra cameras.
Okay?....and what's wrong with it?
@@FredrickKonadu it's a great phone, but Samsung could've done a lot better with the camera. The camera software right now is disappointing.
@@carver9312bro wtf bro. It just release and the software ain't even release yet. Chil out
@ventagram840 I agree with you. I'm primarily basing my judgement off of today's software. I can't see into the future, I'm going by today's standards and the S23 Ultra cameras started out at A+
@@FredrickKonaduare you blind ! What sort of question is that, can’t you see those washed photos what they look like ? S24 photos are so washed and not clean at all , they look so cheap , if you post one of them on the social media people will think you are using xiaomi phone that came out 6 years ago
Wow! This is exactly what i suggested In the previous black test that you did. There's no way you read that and made this video that quick, in which case you had already thought of this. Awesome work and thank you!
The shot of the trainer, how come his hoodie on the inside is two different colors in the two different shots, and which one is the actual color?
Came here to ask the same question. I assume that was supposed to be red since Samsung is known for struggling with reds, but confirmation would be good.
You never mentioned at around 7 minutes in that the Pixel kept missing the blur by your left arm. And at 7:40 the entire side of your face is blurred
Indeed, but I think he didn't mentioned because it's a test on dark skin tones
They didn't lie when they advertised the pixel camera portraying skin tones to be more realistic. Also like how much the colors look better on the pixel. The previous Galaxy was way to oversaturated when it came fo colors.
@7:36 thats a very veryyy bad portrait for a flagship
LOVE the fact that there is a camera comparison test on a subject with dark skin. Thanks for that.
Yes it matters because camera algorithms are designed around fair skin tones
Very very nice concept !!!!
Excellent concept !!!
Très très spécial.
Félicitations et forces à toi.
Vraiment, concept très pertinent à titre de comparaison.
Merci beaucoup !!!
Thank !!
another day, another time any phone get trashed by pixel on photo. This time is S24U getting trashed again, right after s23U being trashed by pixel line in mkbhd blind test.
👍🏾👍🏾 Agreed 💯💯
How about videos, which records better videos?
@@TheOriginalRiddim iphone
sorry but at the timeline 1:56 what is the colour of your sweatshirt? blue or violet? it's incredible... and in timeline at minutes 4:55 your jacket is green or avana/beiges? thanks bye
This is so helpful. I'm deciding between s24 and Google pixel and the big thing for me is a black dark skinned person is the camera. So thanks so much for this. My current phone is an s9 so I'm way behind and excited to finally have a good cam.
which one you ended up with?
What's the color of your hoodie? It looks blue in the pixel photos and purple-ish with the samsung's.
Thank you for doing these comparisons.
Yess!!! The "Black Test" needs to be a staple video!!!
I agree 💯
I tend to prefer pixel photos over the Galaxy's. The one main reason is because the photos on the Samsung appear as if for example you went into the Google photo editor and put the shadows or black point on an image to the positive side. I just prefer the higher contrast on the pixel and the consistency with the shadows on the pixel. Samsung tends to add a bit too much brightening in its images that I have noticed over a course of multiple UA-cam videos have been watching.
Thank you for this!
The Pro 8 looks to have more accurate colors. Blacks look darker on your shirt. Your buddies shirt looked red on the Pro 8 and fuchsia on the S24.
I love Googles image processing, but they definitely need to up the megapixels on the selfie camera.
Lower Megapixels allows it to perform better in low light, if its the same size sensor more light hits each pixel because there's less of them. Thats probably why they do it that way, much like the sony a7s series of cameras only being 12mp but being the best low light real camera.
@@JayTsTech oh man, thanks for that info. I never knew that. That’s probably why they kept it so low. I love the camera results, but a lot of times pics on the front facing camera comes out muddy.
@@Johnlmooring yeah that's mostly because phone manufacturers and even consumers have a terrible fascination with eliminating as much noise as possible. So when they make their noise reduction algorithms it's way too aggressive and you lose most of the detail....I've been doing photography for a long time and noise is something that makes a photo have detail/ sharpness....that's how film works, it uses silver crystals and the grain you see is those crystals and that's what's responsible for how sharp a certain film stock is.
So noise isn't always a bad thing but they apply their noise reduction and it muddies the picture up.....10mp is plenty in the right hands, I usually use a 6.1mp camera from 20 years ago and I print 8x10's with it...... anyways I'm going off topic.
If they made the noise reduction less aggressive the photos would be even nicer, especially the front camera ....out of any of the phone manufacturers google really has some people that actually understand photography and it shows in the cameras.
@@JayTsTech thanks for the lessons bro. You really taught me a lot. Do you think it’s time for US phones to start using 1 inch sensors? Is it a real benefit? I’ve been hearing rave reviews about the Vivo X100 Pro and it’s 1 inch sensor.
@@Johnlmooring It could be a benefit for video low light performance since the video side of computational photography hasn't caught up yet to the photo side. As far as photos go it could add a bit of depth from the larger sensor but in reality a 1 inch sensor is really only around 24% bigger than what's in the pixel 8/ s24 ultra. And then when you get into a bigger sensor you have to take into account crop factors so then they would have to completely rework the entire lens system to get the same field of view
Coming from moden iPhone I want my daily driver to be an android now.. Conflicted what one I should get??
Real tone is fantastic, intereting to see the sammy did a decent job though.
Great video, we should build more awareness of real tone 😎
Let's all welcome Samsung too artificial intelligence[A I] something pixels have been doing for years now.theres no way Samsung could capture better photos than a pixel phone.google pixel is the best for computational photography hands down.

Thanks for this test. The Pixel 8 with real tone is great. Just need this feature to be on the S24 Ultra and it will be a beast. Thanks for this camera test. Very much needed. 👊🏾
Well done, you choose difficult conditions for photography and comparison
4:30 aren't we gonna talk about how this pic the clothing is red-orange vs fushia on the galaxy
I'm rocking a Samsung flagship but i use a pixel camera mod on my phone. I prefer pixel pics to my Samsung pics
What dp you mean? We can download a pixel cam imitator for the Samsung and take pics as pixel??
@@katezabello5577 it's not an "imitator", and it's not even available on the play store. The codes for their camera software is open source, there are individuals who've read the codes and create camera modules (software) very similar to the original pixel software.
@@katezabello5577gcam
To me it seems like the pixel is doing a bit of oversharpening and the s24 looks more natural, and I'm not a fan of the contrasty photos of the pixel, it makes skins tones looks grayish, hopefully s software update on the s24 will improve the dynamic range.
Pixel😍😍
Thank you so much !
I think the pixel does a better job at detailing textures (your jacket looks so damn good in the pictures). Ultra does a better job at light (some can be adjusted in settings to reduce the brightness on some pictures) and whole picture- backgrounds look pretty bad when focusing on the foreground with the Pixel whereas Ultra still has some decent details with the background while still focusing on the foreground. A good lightning example is the one in the bar- pixel just had a blurred light bulb where Ultra showed the element inside the light bulb floating (details on the glass/coil/light all separated).
I just need a good astrophotography session to compare the two! I need to see if I can get great Milky Way pictures and fun planets/stars/nebulas/comets!
Considering Samsung is releasing an update tomorrow, will there be an updated comparison? If not, that's ridiculous
That's just a rumour theres been no statement from Samsung that there will be an update tomorrow.
@BatfinksWings there's been an official statement actually from Samsung editor on twitter. And it's not that far fetched, most of the time they release updates to fine-tune before most people receive them.
@@Alex-dj9qj Max Jambor? Editor of a Samsung magazine?! I'm waiting on my delivery of the s24u but I wouldn't hold out for a miracle fix, it took the 6months or so to improve the s23u, mine was pretty poor until August for the cam. I'm not expecting a big fix.
@BatfinksWings I mean, I remember having a S10+ and they updated the camera straight away after pre-orders and it improved the night mode (it was not amazing post-processing back then bc their night mode wasn't fully fleshed out yet compared to Huawei but there was definitely a big improvement). So I'm personally not that skeptical. I'm also happy with the camera as it is to be fair, I edit pictures anyway and I do that even after using a mirrorless/DSLR. It looks like a great camera setup and can't wait to shoot RAW w it
One can slightly tone down the brightness on S24U but Pixel's portrait edge detection is kinda meh.
This guy works for samsung he just undercuts all the pixel photos when generally pixel photos are wayyyy better
🤫Always brought Samsung Flagship.
From Notes to Ultra's & gotta agree that Samsung photos Always suffer from clarity &over saturation.
It's no surprise that both the Apple 14 & Pixel are whoopin the Sammy Ultra.
Just pre-ordered the S24 Ultra cos it still beats the competition on versatility though.😱
if u ask random ppl which 2 phones has the best camera u prob hear a lot iphone & samsung. Pixel is being the forgotten puppy next to them. might be Samsungs borderline false advertising claiming to have the best camera & camera setup, feels weird claiming to be while they cant achieve it to be. for the average user its prob one of the best tbh. Feature wise it offers way more but if those are actual useful is written in a different book. what annoys me is samsung weird white film filter across the image that appears when there is a bit of light on the scene basically resulting the image having no contrast or it all over the place. like even my 2 year old 150$ xiaomi phone didnt do it.
I honestly don't know what you (and the surroundings, lighting) look like in reality. Maybe use a reference video/photo made with a proper camera?
Btw, I honestly stopped caring about the camera generations ago. It's a choice between good and better. If I really wanted to use the camera professionally, I would care, but then again, I would probably use a dedicated camera.
If I have a decent telephoto sensor, I'm good. And my S10 already did great.
Exactly, he seems to go for the brighter image of his face which seems odd to me. Because me being a darker skin tone I don't want the Samsung software brighting up my skin tone because that's what they think I should look like. But that's just me
I’m glad I found this video. For darker skin the pixel does a lot better
Man the Pixel's quality cannot be understated. Also what is up with the overexposure filter on the S24 Ultra in every shot? It's like a bright layer of light over the image.
P8 pro🎉
5:25 It looks like S24U completely missed the focus - you look quite soft, but when you look at the big banners behind you on the left("Seton Hall" and "BigEast"), they are vert sharp and clear, as is the crowd.
Finally...I waited for this.
Me too
I love this. I have never seen a review based on dark skin. Thank you!
You are welcome. Glad you enjoyed this
2:54 why portrait vs normal. Its not equitable i think 👍🤔
Pixel color science is excellent
The Samsung is making your skin tone lighter than the camera you used for the video
we are looking forward to comparing oppo x7 ultra and vivo x100 pro and sams s24u
Real tone on the pixel only works when there are enough lights. When the lights fall it makes you darker
Great video.
Nice comparison
pixel is the king of photograph not even iphone can beat this device
Thanks for the review. The pixel destroys Samsung in the camera dept. I wish Samsung would stop with all the gimmicky stuff and focus on the camera. My cousin has a pixel and I have a Samsung and his photos are way better and more real than mine. C'mon Samsung it's not like you don't have the $ to fix the cameras
Not for long becus S24U will get a big camera update thus week
can you compare pixel 8 with s24
I absolutely love my Pixel 8 pro, so happy with this phone after having samsung and apple for the last 11 years
Really? The selfie camera is horrible. I take 4 blurry shots before I ever get a good one and the camera is just ...eh. I definitely liked Samsung camera 100 times more for point and shoot pictures
@@Tigerac69 first person that I've ever heard saying likes more samsung photos. But hey to each their own. Yeah, selfie camera could be better though. Still prefer this phone 100%, the software, the speakers, everything is better for my usage.
Although i liked more shots from Pixel 8 pro than S24U in this comparison video, but whats up with this thing that Pixel does, making black skintone even more blacker. Thats really annoying to see.
@@evaristocorripio5434I agree, the pixel 8 pro is an awesome phone for sure I have it too and I don't understand the hate towards it to be honest.
There's nothing wrong with the 24 camera. You can use expert raw to get more accurate photos and turn off beauty mode to avoid face smoothening.
Real Tone really is amazing!
Hey 😊
I do overall think like you, but in a way not.
I do believe that the Galaxys photos is overall to bright. Almost as the lense got some on it. I also believes that the Pixel takes a more accurate photo of your face and skin tone. I do not like the smooth surface that the Galaxy add.
Absolutely pixel win 🏆
I thought the pixel kicked its butt on each and every shot.
You're delulu gan boy
Google: Let's add True Tone to make people with darker skin look good in our photos.
The photos: Everyone looks like a zombie with liver damage.
To be fair, Pixel photos outside the shade or not indoors are looking good.
S24 looks hazy in way too many shots and often way too oversharpened.
PIxel also looks oversharpened way too often.
At this point: Just shoot RAW
@@DennisSchmitzbecause when your taking pictures of kids or animals you don't have 10 minutes to get the perfect shot. Point and click is what most people use and pixels point and click is horrible
Making me feel better about not upgrading my S22 Ultra and trading in a Pixel 5 for a free Pixel 8pro. I love both Samsung and Googles U.I.s and features and can enjoy either at my desire. Truth be told, the only thing I feel is a game changing advantage by Sammy is the 10x telephoto. It would've been nice to see some zoom shots.
I keep thinking you're the UrAverageConsumer guy
When it comes to real tone photography i dont think anyone can beat pixel phones
Samsung just added brightness only to their camera lmao
I dont know how this UA-camr said on 6:24 pixel looks better. Everything blurred out cant see snow well and trees while s24 you see everything.
"YOU" looked the best with with the samsung. Samsung clearly renders dark skin in a much more natural way. Pixel and iphone makes people grey, navy and just too dark.
You cannot honestly believe what you just spewed out your mouth. You know that the pixel takes better pictures than Samsung, but it clearly seems that you are a Samsung fanboy and that's why you made that statement IYKYK #pixelForTheWin 🤓🤓
@@yaboipookiepook what do you mean? He himself said his skintone was rendered better on more pics than the samsung?? The pixel can be a bit too contrasty bruh. I know what im talking about. It takes amazing pics but not the best for dark skinned people.
And I would strongly have to disagree with you because I am a dark skin person of color and the way the pixel photographs me and my family is unlike Samsung cameras in which make me seem like I'm dark skin but orange at the same time and I hate those type of photographs when I'm taking them. Therefore, I tend to side with the picture phone when it comes down to taking photographs and especially portraits with the GOOGLE Pixel 8 pro now than often...
@@yaboipookiepook Clearly it's all about what a person prefers their skin to be represented like if you like the pixels representation, that's great good for you. I prefer the galaxy more often than not.
PIXEL IS SO MUCH BETTER I AM DISAPPOINTED IN SAMSUNG THIS YEAR
Put 5x on the pixel then after in Photos Add portrait to compare!!
Not sure why, but I think I like the Pixel better in almost every single shot...
Not for long becuz the S24U will get a big camera update this week
The color processing is slightly better on the Pixel. And they both seem to go back and forth with over exposing. But the biggest thing to me is that the S24's portrait mode is SIGNIFICANTLY better. The cutout is much better and there's an actual rolloff of the background blur. For the cutout just look at how the space between his arm and torso is missed on the Pixel and how in general the background blur kinda looks like a bad cutout. The color and contrast stuff on the S24 can easily be fixed either as you're taking the shot or afterwards. Can't do anything about subpar portrait processing though. So I'd still go for the Galaxy. Also yeah the Galaxy will be getting software updates that hopefully resolve some of the contrast issues in auto mode.
@@wouter.d.h. Everyone is banking on the update ahaha, aint gonna change anything
@@wouter.d.h.Ahhhh no?? The pixel 8 pro still has an awesome camera.

Been very interested in this comparison - I think the Pixel does a way better job
Pixel hands down beat this Samsung in literally all picture comparison but I'll be picking a Samsung next with hardware, fingerprint, modem for network being built better in a Samsung, but leave picture and smooth OS for pixel. I use a Pixel 7 Pro right now and this Pixel device's software and picture quality is hands down better, and take it from me who used a Samsung for 9yrs before going to Pixel but I'm coming back to Samsung, as I've pre-ordered the S24+, and that's bcos I encountered some annoying issues in the past one yr I've used in this Pixel device, but in picture & OS experience, pixel is still better.
Let’s get Wesley Snipes for the Black Test.

But from the comments, to much samsung fans here..they giving many forgiveness by bring another things
Just stick to the title about
Makes me sad that I decided on the S24… hopefully the first upgrade improves the S24 camera

Samsung makes photos look bright and fun. Pixel makes photos look dark and depressing. After having pixels for years. I am disappointed as a photographer with the Pixel. All photos of people and animals look dark and depressing. If you cover each photos and compare them the Samsung photos look like the subject is having more fun.
I am going back to Samsung!
Interesting how people just assumed the Pixel was better.

Cover them and compare- which one would you rather post of yourself on social media if you were the subject?
If only the pixels had better battery life. Only that.
After watching your pics comparison, it doesn't change my mind in a bit to buy the s24 ultra.

Black test thats the full stop
Yeah, no giant leap for Samsung remains behind the Pixel in photography. Which is nothing to be ashamed of. I was expecting more, but that may come with updates. Though the caveat is that the S24U still has some ancient sensors, the 3X zoom and the ultra-wide are pre-dinosaurs in camera tech terms. The primary has yet to improve, and the 5X, like the iPhone's, is version one and is easily beaten by the Chinese 5X, which has been doing it for years.
I certainly would not buy the S24U for the cameras as of today; now, they do not even have the 10X, which makes it unique. They have above-average camera software (usually), which helps them compete against rivals with much better sensors.
Very expensive, and no reason to upgrade from S23U, which is the norm these days. All flagships are now closely matched, and only unique features differentiate them. The Ultra will have to rely on the S-pen for that, but with the Pixel deals, that, for me, remains the easy choice for value.
I don’t want that Samsung modem in the pixel, I’ve heard so many bad things about it and connectivity is number one for me because I use my phone to channel my home internet hotspot
So ya s24ultra wins in hardware hands down
I would’ve gone pixel if they had snapdragon and better hard drive speeds because I love pixel hardware
But ya can’t justify the hardware downgrade just for software
And the s24u beats the pixel in photography every time
samsung camera is crap, just look at the colors.on every phone is similar but on this s24u crap they are always washout or off colors.just bad. at 4:33 on samsung guy have pink hoodie compared to red.i mean come on,you cant call that good camera.for that price range this crap cant even get colors right :D
