Does not matter if it is about cooking , gardening, sports, games or anything else. And the viewer is the one who decides whether his reaction is objective and open for dialogue or subjective or even hateful. Nothing about Asmons content is hateful, disrespectful or negative in any kind. He care very much about how he formulates things but he also stands for his takes. Good for him. This is what society lacks. Only the viewer is the one who decides if content is received as an offense. So the reception is subjective. And anonymity on platforms like youtube helps people to be a version of themselves they never would show in person. I never saw anyone walking by a shoe shop shouting "fuck you, your shoes are shit". This never happens. Only on the internet. UA-cam is not here to make everyone feel and think the same. It is here to share. And some people cannot make their mind around that. If there are things you dont like, dont consume them. Who would buy a tuna salad if they dont like the taste. Pretty simple. Things can co-exists even if they are opposite. To compare an anime drawing or a game character with a real person, when artsy visuals have no relationship with their age, is disingenuous.
The main reason most settings in many games (notably japanese) and the characters in these tend to be around the 17-18 mark is because they tend to be targeted at teenagers but then when you look at the character models and designs, some games they look like they're 14, others they look like they're 20+ at least.
Yes, I agree, that you probably wouldn't want your kid around someone that reads H manga or plays H games if you're a normie. But that has nothing to do with the age of the characters or their sexualization. Normies wouldn't want their kid around someone that reads or watches regular P**rn if they knew either. They also wouldn't let their kid around someone that engages in violent activities. It's not a judgement of character or intent, rather an inherent bias towards things they don't understand, don't want to understand or don't have the time to understand. In some cases it is understandable as you are trying to protect your kid from potential harm. ANY harm. If the person even remotely seems fishy, in any respect, you'll want to keep them at bay, regardless of what you do or do not know about that person. It's why you see so many stories about how "we never saw it coming" or "x was such a nice person", because people focus on the shallow surface image than the actual character and integrity of the person.
While I can at least understand the backwards logic in a real-life scenario, it's when he effectively agrees (as in, he doesn't see it as a problem) with the removal and censorship of mods on the basis of morality that he "crossed the line" so to speak. That is precisely why many people pushed back on that video, because it is disingenuous. If you're going to make a moral judgement for a mod on the basis of a made up number to signify a character's maturity, then it is just as fair to make a moral judgement on every game that contains and "glorifies" the use of weapons to do unspeakable acts. Yet one of these two, which is far more natural (read in our nature and a natural aspect of any species) is somehow seen as more reprehensible and worthy of disdain than the one which is unnatural.

It's not about morality specifically. Where I live, drawn CP is still CP. People have been jailed for it, for a long time. Also, committing crimes in a game doesn't make you a criminal, but being attracted to a fictional child does mean that you're a pedophile.

Video games have been a huge formative part of my life since I was about 5 years old or so. They are something I do in spare time to enhance my enjoyment and to spend time bonding with my family as we play together often. Gone are the days of shirking all my responsibilities to play video games while the rest of my life suffered. My life used to revolve around video games. Now, video games revolve around my life, and I’m proud of the way my life is. Asmon is right, put the games down and focus on your life for a while. 27:35 forgive my ignorance but is there really a correlation between liking loli stuff and being an actual threat to children? I'm not sure I buy this. Usually people that harm kids are in positions of power in relation to the minors such as being their teachers, mentors, priests, coaches etc. And those guys don't strike me as the types who would consume anime or loli content. In fact, in Japan they call these types of Otaku "herbivorous" because they're so deep into their animes that they don't even get any gratification from real life human beings.
My point is, if we're taking who I would trust my kids with, I don't think the loli Otaku would be any more dangerous than some normie guy that's used to power. If you have to pick one of the two, who would you pick to babysit your kids? a loli otaku or a coach/priest/teacher?

I think what Asmon doesn't get about Loli is the same thing people don't get about furry in general. I'm not into Loli but as a furry we see this all the time too, people think if you're into furry especially feral you're going to rape animals, when in reality the attraction isn't just about what they look like it's also consciousness, when you see a donkey irl it's not the same as a donkey pic where it's blushing and giving you the f' me eyes. Loli it's the same thing, these characters don't have minds of a child they're essentially adults in the body of children. if you don't get what I'm saying just look up Harkness test, it pretty much covers this. I still don't personally get it but from my understanding most loli con content isn't about a scared child getting raped with no understanding of what is actually happening just like most feral furry porn isn't about a dead eye'd soulless animal getting f'ed. Don't get me wrong that art does exist and it's disgusting but it's disingenuous to associate liking that with everyone who enjoy loli/furry content.

I skip the bad take video only to end up still hearing it in another video. He always magically conjures up something and declares it as “immutable truth” to defend his point. The one in this video being that people naturally see violence in video games (which is actually an immutable truth btw) as unequivalent to violence in real life but his magical truth prevents this from being compared to Loli body types in video games to children in real life (there is an immutable truth with this but he doesn’t recognize it). It really comes across like that friend who says some stupid shit like “gee your sister is so hot, if I had a sister I would date her”. Anyone who actually has someone of the opposite gender grow up with them knows very very well how entirely separate a family member and a romantic interest are, merely the suggestion is enough to make you want to puke. But of course the outside perspective doesn’t have this insight into this real actual barrier that exists and completely doesn’t understand.
In my opinion Asmongold does not understand this because, as far as I can tell, he has a very small family without a lot of ties. From what I have heard after many years, he has a father and a mother, one of whom has unfortunately passed, but nonetheless as far as I am aware he does not have many close (if any) relatives who have children. There is something fundamentally adorable about children, notice I say adorable, because it is a word I think is extremely far from the word cute. An adorable thing is something whose simple actions, no matter how silly or goofy bring joy, something that you enjoy making happy because you gain your own happiness in even in your old burdened adult life through making them smile. This is an ideological barrier that the concept of loli does not penetrate, you don’t raise a loli character from birth and it ceases to exist the moment the screen ends. It doesn’t grow, it doesn’t develop, it doesn’t have a future that inspires you to do better for them. It is on every stage fundamentally detached from a real life child. This is an immutable trait of the mind that is generally garnered through exposure to younger siblings growing up and relatives children at family gathering. I can understand why Asmongold has never garnered this immutable barrier in his mind as he is not exposed to this in the same way that the average person is, so even if I disagree with his perspective on the mods, I can see why he holds it. At a surface level this immutable barrier isn’t going to be visible to him as much as the “violence in video games” one which is formed by everyone we know playing games all their life and growing up normally.
It honestly does worry me though, a lot of people who staunchly talk about this sorta stuff end up caught with the exact things they chastise people for (see the recent vaush situation). But yeah anyway, read it or don’t, feels good to let my comment out even if he won’t read it.

Otherwise you won't ever see the post unless you're on there sorting by new and constantly refreshing it. Most of the reasonable wow players left that subreddit a long time ago, like years ago. He used to talk shit about people, that are exactly like he is today. Now he talks shit about people, who are like him back then. Instead of being a rich dick about it, he could talk about it in a different way people would understand and don’t get upset about it. As a red pill myself, asmon himself was a blue pill boy but started becoming slightly red pill aware, and now shits on blue pill boys. I get it, but his audience is a bunch of blue pill boys where if he speaks like a red pill guy, they won’t understand. He may lose viewers/money over this, time will tell though. Lastly the thing about his viewed videos, most of us selective viewers/not subscribed to his channel, are only going to click on videos we know about. If it’s about wow, top g, maybe trump, I’ll click on the video. If it’s about a random ass game or some Reddit shit I don’t care to watch asmon nor his content because most of his takes are bad anyway.

I know you're very rich. I know you made a lot of money streaming. And I still find it very shocking that you give two s**** about what anybody on Reddit has to say about you. Really seems like it might have just been a slow day for him and he had nothing else to talk about so he goes into a big dye tribe about how great he is and how much money he makes and how these people are so far beneath them. he said he's not good at games - like by tryharding and spending all your braincells and time in trying to be the top server best player or something like that - like he was before when he was young. He said that he is in a different phase of his life, that it is best for him to focus on getting the best from the games he is playing and try to make it work in his life, where you can enjoy the game and benefit yourself from the positive aspects of gaming, for him it was streaming and etc, I can't explain it like he did...
My problem is, I am in the transition between tryharding and fitting games in a positive way in my life... I tryhard in every game I play since I was like 11 years old, and now I am 24, need to work and study and tryharding most of the time is stressing me out and making me lose focus on my life, in the last years I stopped playing because I lack this balance but I miss it so hard, but I'm addicted to tryharding, I can't play except if I'm winning or if I'm good, like it is my personality trait or it is my "enjoying-game" condition
I know Asmon usually wants to go back and enjoy when he was crazy for playing like that, and I still feel the adrenaline in playing and enjoying some games like the first time, but the tryhard takes so much time and stress me that I don't want to like that anymore, how do I skip this young phase and go to the chill phase?

I find anime characters attractive, I don't find kids attractive. If you can't tell the difference that's your problem. Anime characters are hyper stylized compared to real people, there is a reason why "2D is better than 3D" is a meme. Most loli characters, regardless of their depicted age, still have the figure of a post pubescent female, albeit usually petite. And petite girls above the age of consent do exist in real life. The problem with fictional characters is that the "age" of the character is solely dependent on the author. There is no reason why a character that is given an age below the age of consent couldn't also be a depiction of a character above the age of consent.
As a side note, and I'm not accusing you of this, but I find it funny how the ones that are so vehemently against Loli usually turn out to be the ones that get caught with real CP.

I used to spend every waking moment not in class or at work playing WoW. I loved playing the MMO and loved the idea of it. Later, though, I couldn't enjoy any group type content as it always felt like I had to be a professional player or would get kicked. Then, at some point, it just felt that all games were just remakes of the same formula over and over again - just with a heftier price tag each time a new game console came out. I still play some games from time to time but the gaming industry, for me anyway, feels like one of those malls that has one or two last holdout shops in it. Maybe I'm just not playing the right ones but gaming in general doesn't have the same feel as it used to in those early WoW days.

Yeah, i got 0.1%-1 parses for heroic/mythic+ gear level on our server and got to be #2-7 in server for spec in mythic+ keys passed. But top 0.1-1% parses in heroic are honestly 1-10% parses for mythic.
There wasn't a raiding scene with 90% of players gone in no cross faction raiding, non 24/7 mythic raiding since they deliberately closed off cross faction /cross server raiding to sell 20$ server transfers in wow.
So quit the game. But you could get +30% by just optimizing your gear with a dps sim, then +30-270% more dps by gearscore, then +20-50% more dps with rotation.
Rotation still mattered, but 2.7x the dps from gear could make more for a dps counter than a 1.2-1.5x from proper rotation.

I'm not saying it should really be a priority for most people but this new sentiment he's got on "it's just a game" when he's talking about how important it is to be good at video games kinda sounds like a boomer take. Like yes, for most people it's not a good idea to prioritize this but video games are obviously not just video games anymore for tons of people, otherwise there wouldn't be incredibly successful esports scenes/games like Rocket League or CSGO.
When Rocket League came out that shit basically took over my life for like 2 and a half years. It was my life. I just loved it so much but I never expected it to get so big so I stopped prioritizing it, these days the RLCS gets hundreds of thousands of concurrent viewers and who knows how much money the teams make. Not only for placement prizes but potential content creation or sponsorships.
I don't know man, but that sounds like it could be pretty productive to me. Not to mention it would be literally playing a video game at the highest level instead of actual work.
Like sure, it shouldn't be super important for most people, but I think saying stuff like "it's just a video game, do something productive" just sounds like cope because he still rages when he's hard stuck on a game lol, so he needs some justification. Like there are plenty of people living productive AND happy lives as a result of video games. Asmon himself is an example as he got his start from WoW.

I could care less about the WoW stuff, but the argument against sexualizing fictional characters is completely bad faith.
How are you going to insinuate that people who like to mod their game to make the fictional characters sexy are pdf files? If you want to see level-headed arguments against that viewpoint, just read the comments and try to argue against them, instead of trying to coax your twitch viewerbase into agreeing with you by riding a moral high horse--insinuating that people who don't are part of the vilest group of people on earth.
If you truly can't tell fiction apart from reality, don't engage in anime at all. Chainsawman, Attack on Titan, Jujustu Kaisen, all these shows make their underage characters engage in adult activity. For Chainsawman, Denji is a kid and yet a good part of the show is him trying to score with women. How are you going to say that you like that show if your sense of morality insists that stuff is pdf file territory?

As a cutting edge mythic raider I agree with Asmon that mythic raiding is easy. The raid difficulty is more of a social difficulty and time commitment. The difference between a mythic raider and a heroic raider is the time commitment both are willing to put in and their ability to get along with other people and work together in order to succeed. A heroic player might work more hours or have less motivation to spend X hours getting along with other people in order to reach an AOTC. In the end both players might even be as skilled as each other but one might not want to be social or work as a team with other people to reach an achievement.

He's talking about working at a job for 30 years of their life, which is exactly what he would be doing if streaming didn't work out for him. Not that he didn't work hard to build his channel and career, but its kind of cringe telling his audience to just do the same thing in their own way, because its out of touch with the fact that the vast majority of people in this world dont really have that choice, they cant live at home into their late 20s to puruse whatever their passion is. That said hating on him for not being good at wow anymore because hes become a millionaire and built a career is just cringe af.

Its a fictional character first off, and intent/context genuinely matters in that instance since you are explicitly creating the mod to facilitate a healthy sexual view of that fictional character because you DON'T want to sexualize a child like character.

  • @TonyTony__
    @TonyTony__ 7 місяців тому +1

That's fine and all the speach about "i am over trying to be good at video game, i am an adult now" but :
1- If your job is to speak about video game, part of your job is also to kinda be good at game. Not top world good, but good enough to understand the casual audiance experience and the hardcore audiance experience. So yeah, when your multi millions dollars buisness rest on you having a good commentary on the video game industry, you maybe shouldn't take your level at video game so lightly.
2-If really you don't care about your level at video game, don't brag about it and don't call "fcking looser" people who call you bad player. It kinda make you look like you care about it after all.
I had a third point, a bit more personnal and probably hurtfull, and I like Asmon in the end, so I am going to wrap it up there, but he should be careful when he speak about the way other people live theirs life, he is not Elon fcking Musk and he could be irrelevant in 2 years. Insulting your audiance (or part of it) is never a clever move.
