CT Sounds Tropo XL 12in can be had for sub $150 during sales that they run frequently and is a 3in coil also but way way higher quality than any of these 3!
Not sure if that's true. My old quad coil re xxx was holding up to 10 years of pure abuse being a competition sub and daily driver when it was stolen. On the same amp I burned up 3 cheap subs in a year. It could hit about 155 db in competitions. Coarse it was a $1,000 sub but if I paid $200 per sub x 3 a year for 10 years that would be pretty detrimental at about $6,000 over the decade. Coarse it may have lasted much longer but I can't tell since it was stolen. So, there's some subs that are just really well made. My friend also ran 4 kicker L7 15" and they sounded good but they burned up. They got a little louder than the XXX but there was 4 to 1 and they burned up within 2 years in the same comps he put the XXX through for 4 years before I bought it. I'm giving the second best rating to digital design IMHO but only because I seen those need reconed and never seen the RE XXX need that. The DD did last well though. This is all old school stuff and I have no clue about the modern stuff but those were awesome subs back in the day and there's no way anything's blowing them out of the water today. Course I'm saying this realizing most people don't want to save up long enough to purchase a very high quality system and most stores do not sell them. Well, I've never seen one for sale in a store.
I made a killer budget banger 6 12's with 3 passive radiators. You can see it in my story vids. Total cost including wood for the box $500. Cleanest, loudest setup I've ever had. I had to make room for a baby seat so I found a big beastly 10" Rockville punisher for $150. Pound for pound one of the best deals out there!
The Skar controversy is real. I cant tell you how many times people opinion on my sound quality changed the moment they seen it was Skar. There was a time Skar was well under $100 but those days are gone. I am no longer running Skar, but its not because of the hate. I see you have a 3rd gen Ram. I got a tip for the back seat you may know. If you want the back seat to fold down so you can access the back wall, add bushings that come from shock absorbers between the bolts and the seat to lift it up a half inch. Then the backs can fold down when you lift the bottoms up half way. I like install my amps and inverters on the back wall. My build, the left seat is permanently removed cuz that's where my fridge, and sub sit. Under the sub I have a battery. On the right side I have a battery under the seat totaling 4 batteries. Still not enough juice to run the new amp I just got. I may need to make a rack along the outer frame rail to add 2 more on either side.
@@DIYAudioGuy I pretty much did similar. I mounted everything to the back wall. I kept the passenger side seat bench, and added spacers to lift the seat bracket so it can swing both ways. Then I reused the foam but cut out for where the 2 amps went. That was how it has been since 2018. Now I am redoing it, cuz I upgraded, and everything needs more space.
Budget builds are the best. I love when people listen to my $290 tline’d 10” Recoil setup on 300 watts and can’t believe I literally spent $300 on the equipment and it blurs vision easily.
@@MotoAtheist here, I just uploaded the shorts so that you can see the entire roof buckle with one 10” on 300 watts. The person on the video is Tony Cotton, a fairly recognized name in the bass game, as he built the box and installed the equipment and even he’s shocked how it sounds.
@@MotoAtheist lol, okay buddy. It’s only flexing the roof on a 6,000 pound suv, while flexing the entire dash, windshield and upper console. On 300 watts. It’s not doing anything. 😂😂😂😂

Please do this with the lower tire american bass vs the lower tire deafbounce and rockville. All very differwnt 15 inch subs at around the same price point. And i think all 3 are great subwoofers
I recently purchased a 12" Cerwin Vega for $145. The amp I'm using is a 4 ohm amp. I ordered the wrong speaker. It has 2 coils at 4 ohms. But I found that it rattles and shakes my car too much at the 4 ohms. So running it at 8 ohms makes it about perfect for the stereo in my car. It plays the low bass I couldn't hear with the stock 8" sub. I built sort of a box, for it to fit where the spare tire was. A couple of small wood wedges keep the box from rattling. My build for the box was just guesswork, trying to make it fit where I wanted it to fit. I'm happy with how it sounds. It's not too overpowering and shaking, but it fills in the lows and just makes the music sound perfect. And, running 8 ohms doesn't cause so much heat so fast. I still need to hook up the fan I got for it. I was hoping the air from the speaker would move enough to cool the amp, but that's a big no. I need to find out if there is room for the amp when the top is open, behind the rear seats in the trunk. Probably not. It's a convertible. So when it worked in 4 ohms, it shook the top so much that all I heard was the top vibrating. It's great the way it is at 8 ohm. The amp is 500 watt Rockford Fosgate, from the 80s, but the factory test before it was shipped out rated it at 576 watts RMS at 4 ohms.
i have gone thru 4 sets of 10's in the past 6 months not happy with the sound, then i herd my friends JLw3's great SQ and pretty loud (big $$$ imo). i came to the conclusion that cheap kind of sux. i finally went with a set of RF p3's now i'm happy rockford has never let me down. my sundowns got real loud but compared to JL or Rockford they sound bad, loud but bad SQ. in the past 30 years i had had rockford for 25 of them
I use to hate on Skar before I tried it. My first time playing dual VXF15s had me really impressed. Correct box and tuning, they were accurate and went into deep lows. I didn't expect much SQ from them but they sound pretty decent for the price point. Skar or Deaf Bonce are probably the best budget subs imo.

Hyanka now has a 1500 watt rms sub , 176 for a 12 and little over 2 for a 15. That wildside company used to have some like that as well but people bought them up really fast. It would be nice to see a budget sq sub comparision and a bugdet sql sub comparision with measurement in nearfeild for the distortion and spl on the glass numbers. Maybe one day
The wlldse HCY was a beast but they discontinued it. I grabbed a 12" for the budget ststem in my 95 mustang gt at $122 it showed up i looked at it for 10 min and ordered another but in a few days it took to deliver it jumped to $142 but still a great buy. They jad a sundown U frzme a 200oz motor and a 3" coil rated at 1200wrms or something. The FS was a bit high than the rating that was 32htz if i remeber right it tested out at 42htz out of the box to 38htz fully broke in. I used epoxy to embed a ring of fat plumbing solder around the perimeter of the dust cap and glued a bigger dist cap over all of it, i cant remember the weight but the dayton tester said 32htz before gluing and 31htz after and they hit the lows smoother after, before they were super punchy and playing a metal double kick drum beat your chest hard but now they play liw and higher bass great, i run the 2 on a audiopipe apcle 1800.1 at .5 ohm on headway batts and i have abused them bigtime with no issues to the point my small heatsoaked trunk has perma stink but they keep thimping.
I’m not anti skar, just after getting better built equipment I was able to see the difference. I still recommend Skar to budget friendly builds, but I’ll lean towards others for SPL. That and personally, I like seeing other brands actually attending shows and events and being out there in the community which Skar does not. They let the saturated market do their advertising for them.

I would like to build a large, (Cheap), sub and enclosure for outdoor, (mostly camping and beach party), use. A Marine subwoofer is just not in the budget. Do you have some enclosure design ideas to keep the cheap sub from getting rained on at the beach?
Another budget banger for ya, the Harmony Audio HA-C152. It's slightly higher in price than these three, only by around $30. Not to take away from your video, because all the subs in this video seem like awesome budget subs. I was just adding in options, hope you don't mind.
you remember the 15 inch Pyle from early 90s? what was the rms rating on it? Friend of mine had 2 and hit 150 db in big ported box ,I like old school low rating subs challenge to build good box .
How Parker tested the sub free air the sub motor is exposed to outside of box ambient air temperature & moving more freely not being slowed down from box
Its hilarious when people think my system is crazy expensive when its just 2 15in ds18 gen-xx on a skar 1200 when it only cost me 900 bucks with a home built box
I've got an idea and pretty much no budget. I want to take the sub out of my home theater powered subwoofer that has a blown amp and put it in a custom box behind the seat in my single cab s10. I have a Pioneer monoblock class D amp to running with. I have no idea of the ohm rating or the watt rating of the sub. It's all parts I already have and am not currently using. I imagine the amp shouldn't have any issues a 8 ohm load.
@DIYAudioGuy im aware it won't be great. I just want a little more low end to fill out the sound a little better. Used to have a great sound system in my extended cab Sonoma. Not much room in a single cab unless you go custom. I'm just trying to use what I've got laying around. I do have a couple 10" Pioneer subs laying around as well. I don't think I've enough room for the correct size box though.
I did something similar in my single cab 88 C2500 that I put bucket seats in. I set an old non-powered home sub and powered it with a TarAmps DS440 bridged and while not perfect, it sounds good.
"I've got an idea and pretty much no budget." That's been my problem for a long time, now, concerning experimenting with subs! LOVE THAT COMMENT. Great tee-shirt idea, lol. I have a 'DUAL' brand bandpass box as my home 'theater' sub that has only one sub working - the other I tried to fix and it went for 'animal research' otherwise - now a gaping hole covered by the sub's basket, lol. Other sub in HT system is the one originally with the RCA amp/receiver and I stuffed an old sock in the booming, buzzing port and that + the other sub (BP box) are GREAT for my low-end (lol) home audio arrangement. PS---Aim your HT sub (or even one or two 10-inchers) right AT your recliner, (up-close!) for added BELOW-low-end! 🙂🤗😏
Because you've not gone over to patreon.com/DIYaudioguy and signed up. If only 1% of my viewers supported me at the $10 level I could test every subwoofer on the market.
did you load the calibration mic file into REW? It looks like a 6 or 12 DB LFP @ something high like 250 Hz. Maybe you have a crossover in place on accident?
hyanka sound like more distortion at high levels , but of course probably terrible high spl microphone , but could hear a difference. low budget skar , does have clean bass , not known in test is the variable of the box, spl is great and all but not a metric everyone solely enjoys , wanting big bang for a buck got to deal with trade offs.
Skar has been around for a while. I typically don't trust keyboard-faceplant brand names on Amazon, as they miraculously re-faceplant into a new brand name every 2-3 months. Skar could have the worst customer service in the world, and they'd still be better because at least you have the opportunity to get treated poorly by someone. ;)

What happen to the Dayton series as kill all by price
Great testing indeed !
Maybe one day
This one? amzn.to/4eyJHEw
The kicker comp c 15 is like $90 I got one for 70 and it handles pretty well
The wlldse HCY was a beast but they discontinued it.
I have 2 of the 15" hcy subs brand new dual 2 ohm sitting on my shelf. Grabbed them when they first came out for cheap. Like 140 a piece or something.
I'd love to see you review the new Hyanka bsp-12. 1500 rms for less than $180.
Man i love this channel 🙏🔥
This series has a lot of potential can you try an audiopipe 15 bdc4 next against a American bass elite
I would love to, but I could use some help. If just 1% of my viewers would sign up here: www.patreaon.com/diyaudioguy I could test out just about anything.
Was there any break in time on these before testing? didn't catch if you mentioned it
Can you test out the Soundstream RSW.152 Subwoofer
Reserve Series 15″ Dual 2-ohm Subwoofer
Max Power 2,600 Watts
RMS Power 1,300 Watts
Optimum Sealed 2 cu ft.
Voice Coil Configuration 3″ DVC 2Ω
I currently purchased it and I'm amazed on the sound quality.
Good video. Thinking "budget" applies to the majority of people in the car audio "scene".
Pretty much like everything else. There's a large number of people spending a small amount of money and a small number of people spending massive amounts of money.
Big subwoofers like these are fun, but most people are buying tens and 12s. From what I gather, talking to people I've met in the industry eights are becoming much more popular because people don't want to give up space.
Try the gravity audio sub! Curious how it would do, had a loaded enclosure one and wasn’t bad, I’m actually giving my old one away on my channel! Love the videos 🫡💪🏼💯
I would love to, but I could use some help. If just 1% of my viewers would sign up here: www.patreaon.com/diyaudioguy I could test out just about anything.
I would like to build a large, (Cheap), sub and enclosure for outdoor, (mostly camping and beach party), use. A Marine subwoofer is just not in the budget. Do you have some enclosure design ideas to keep the cheap sub from getting rained on at the beach?
parts-express.sjv.io/gbdVX2
Another budget banger for ya, the Harmony Audio HA-C152. It's slightly higher in price than these three, only by around $30. Not to take away from your video, because all the subs in this video seem like awesome budget subs. I was just adding in options, hope you don't mind.
Nothing wrong with having options.
you remember the 15 inch Pyle from early 90s? what was the rms rating on it? Friend of mine had 2 and hit 150 db in big ported box ,I like old school low rating subs challenge to build good box .
How Parker tested the sub free air the sub motor is exposed to outside of box ambient air temperature & moving more freely not being slowed down from box
@elcaminosupersport- Which is not how speaker Mfg. Rate power handling. Not to mention possibly hurting the woofer before that free air test.
Those dayton microphones have an audio output jack. Far flatter than the laptop headphone output.
I will have to give that a try!
with an 800-1000w rms amplfier (usually rated at 1ohm), only like 400w will be reaching the sub. Even tho they are wired to 1ohm, they rised to 3-4ohm
Yep
so how about 2 hyanka at 1ohm jp23 ported box ??
That would be fun!
Its hilarious when people think my system is crazy expensive when its just 2 15in ds18 gen-xx on a skar 1200 when it only cost me 900 bucks with a home built box
I bet it slams.
What you're proposing will work just fine, it's not going to be the world's greatest subwoofer.
@@justlooking6898 that would be a good t-shirt idea
NVX VCW is a killer deal for 199
Is it better than the Skar VXF and Hifonics BRW?
Why didn't you throw torro in the mix? I hear they are pretty good
Because you've not gone over to patreon.com/DIYaudioguy and signed up. If only 1% of my viewers supported me at the $10 level I could test every subwoofer on the market.

Budget Reviews .... anything budget starts with the cost I wish reviewers would present this in their titles🤞🏾
Problem is prices change daily. So you will have to hit the link to check the price even if I say it in the video.
@@DIYAudioGuy Thats fine, but you did base the review on price in the video.
Can anyone recommend a good 10 inch sub, room ain’t big enough for a 15 incher! Thanks!

Wish you would have gotten a massive gtx.
I was not able to because you did not go to patreon.com/diyaudioguy and support the channel.
did you load the calibration mic file into REW? It looks like a 6 or 12 DB LFP @ something high like 250 Hz. Maybe you have a crossover in place on accident?
I did calibrate the mic and there are no crossovers -- I went right from the laptop to the amp. I suspect the laptop is the issue.
@DIYAudioGuy easy to verify from a dedicated/usb sound card
Im hitting hard with skar they bad ass. Wanna play with me
A lot of people run Skar and a lot of people enjoy it.
Hi! I'm Yanka!😂
You look like high pitch Eric from Howard stern show
3:04 you look evil XD
😂
No American bass?
I was not able to because you did not go to patreon.com/diyaudioguy and support the channel.
@@DIYAudioGuy haha fair enough
hyanka sound like more distortion at high levels , but of course probably terrible high spl microphone , but could hear a difference. low budget skar , does have clean bass , not known in test is the variable of the box, spl is great and all but not a metric everyone solely enjoys , wanting big bang for a buck got to deal with trade offs.
WWSLD is my pick of the 3 to win. I was tempted to buy one, but instead bought the Sundown U series (which I think is what the WWSLD is copying).
Up next, do some subs from Alibaba
Regardless of the subs ohm, 1000 watts is 1000 watts, so the comparison is still valid.
I'm just trying to be transparent so all of the skar fanboys will not lose their mind.
@@DIYAudioGuy lol, fair enough.
you must be working for big-skar.
I have 2,12" sundown xv3 and it beat the breaks off of my son in-law 2 skar 15"
These? lddy.no/1kmh3 That is not a fair comparison.
Came to the comments to hear all the haters or the know it all😅
Skar has been around for a while. I typically don't trust keyboard-faceplant brand names on Amazon, as they miraculously re-faceplant into a new brand name every 2-3 months. Skar could have the worst customer service in the world, and they'd still be better because at least you have the opportunity to get treated poorly by someone. ;)
Funny enough, these two brands have managed to last for about a year and a half. Kind of shocked they stuck around that long.
Big Beefy Bass Brain Busters. =)
I Didn't See A Decimal point ..., within that Number ....
Giggity
I’m happy with my setup. Two fi audio mt15’s on two deaf bonce asa 6000.1 using two jp40 lithium and xs power sb500 under the hood. I upgraded from skar rp4500. Good amps but deaf bonce are just better with better sound quality
I bet that's loud AF.
@@DIYAudioGuy yeah sounds great for a daily driver. Not going to win anything at slamology but wasn’t built to do so. I’d say I’m about 140-142 db haven’t officially been measured
You skar hater you 😂😂😂
The Skar DDX is only 25 bucks more! A much better sub!
ua-cam.com/video/uOrK6ioyqAM/v-deo.html&si=A5aX0HQIe9n2sOUx
DDX is not considerably more though.
These companies could have tried harder with the names, those are god awful.
😂
Crossfire c3 better than all those
I don't know much about Skar...or even subwoofer's.... But i do know that sasquatch is a real.......being? cool speakers, now tell me the purpose of these big speakers?? j/k...sorry 🤦♂🤦♂
Purpose? Fun. It's all about having fun, enjoying music, enjoying the experience. Enjoying the hunt for Sasquatch.
So what you're saying is skar is NOT garbage? Lol skar heyturzzz
FOR LESS tHEN , "$ 100.50" ?
Skar ddx for 160 is wayyyy better than those
There you are! There is always one of you. Yes the more expensive model is probably better.
For brokies and the usual suspects
Don’t buy hyanka, you’re only gonna get yanked!!! Mines blew day 1. The rms is total bs. Build quality is very low.
😂😂😂 poping your trunk with these speakers with made up brand names nobody can pronounce...... It's like wearing four stripe Adidas and thinking you're cool😂😂😂
I wonder how many American brands regret sending manufacturing to China now that the factories in China are slapping random names on other people's designs and undercutting them on price.
@@DIYAudioGuy it is and was all by design brother, destruction of American culture end Business.... Red or blue they both hate you!
@@DIYAudioGuy and I love your videos bro please don't think I'm trashing on any of your skill or effort
