Jasmine is the prime example of how just because a queen doesn't perform well in the show doesn't mean that they aren't a good drag queen. Jasmine is one of the most iconic queens of the whole franchise and has served so many iconic moments both inside and outside of the show and yet was an early out both times. She really is an icon and I loved seeing her on all stars, her lipsync against trinity is one of my favourites of all time

"Jush", "bottom line cut and dry", "that part!", "no T no shade no pink lemonade"; Jasmine Masters is probably the most authorial queen to have graced RPDR, followed by Alyssa Edwards and Bianca del Rio. They have really left the mark of an author with their lovely turns of phrase, but Jasmine's are better, because they have something rhythmic, poetic, about them. I love her.
Jasmine Masters was performing at the first drag show I went to a few years ago. I must have been around 14/15 so finding a drag show accessible for me at the time was difficult. I was close to front row and I remember Jasmine kept looking towards me and my friend making sure to interact with us. Hearing about the planned tour for underage drag fans brought that memory back and definitely makes me view it differently. Thanks Jasmine!
She's the first queen to call out those clubs that doesn't want to make minor friendly drag shows. It is dangerous because kids will lie that they're 18+ to get in and are easily manipulated

Jasmine spoke a truth that fans can’t handle hearing. I understand her point of view because when things go mainstream it can have a negative effect on the essence of the true raw art form. It does become robbery when a lack luster performance enters the scene but gets top billing or more pay than queens who haven’t been on the show. To me it’s like spitting in someone’s face and telling them it’s raining. Stop it

I see drag as a voice for women that men tell in different ways like William Shakespeare had to use men in drag to perform his works because during those times women were not allowed to speak in public or be performers. As someone who does small-scale local drag, all her comments about how RPDR should be seen as something to enhance your drag portfolio rather than the be-all and end-all suggests a really healthy attitude. Most people who do drag have day jobs and we do this because we love it. If you get into drag expecting to get on the show and/or get on the show expecting the show to make you set for life, you’ll be disappointed at best and at worst, lose out on all the fulfillment you can get from doing local drag.

since you asked: i don’t like the idea of producers fucking contestants who are currently on the show they’re filming. producers have a decent amount of control on what goes into the final product of the show, and they can make or break a queen’s career if they want to. it certainly is an odd coincidence that two of the queens who have been blackballed from drag race (Willam and Pearl) have *allegedly* slept with producers. i think producers have a lot more power than the queens who are being filmed; i see it like a boss sleeping with an employee-it’s pretty exploitative and an unfair power embalance that can potentially endanger someone’s career.
I remember expecting a lot from Nina's Snatch Game only to miss many of Jasmine's catchphrases as the game went on. Today I understand that they edit the Snatch Game so much Nina might as well said other things that never made it to the final cut. I love both queens though.

The thing with the Jasmine and Nina Bonina drama: if the person you’re imitating is telling you straight up they do not like it and you want to argue a reason as “they don’t understand” is because it’s love and admiration…you’re missing the point and you’re doing this for you, not to honor the person you’re imitating.
And not quite, there's a whole ass psychological context, there is people that simply don't like to be imitated, they don't see it as flatering regardless of how good it might be. And that is Jasmine. Ask the audience, they liked Nina's performance because they see Nina's expressing not who Jasmine is but how she is perceived. Jasmine on the other hand has an inner understanding of herself and how she carries herself genuine and how that isn't worth of a character to make fun of, which is what happens at the snatch games.

i remember not loving Jasmine's attitude on season 7 (my first season I got to watch as it aired!), but I also remember seeing pretty easily that the edit was not very kind and only showing her "worst parts." To this day, her fixing the sewing machines and really never getting any "official" love for that pains me :/
I'm glad that I really got into drag race after her run so i could avoid most of the toxic fan reaction towards her and got into the show when she was going viral where she got more love. i can't imagine a world where i would be sucked into a world where i would hate her.

Instead of feeding into rumours, or negativity, you show us sides of drag queen's we didn't know and deserve to be shown and known. Now i have so much love for Jasmine Masters. The drag race fandom is so toxic. We all forget that a queen not popping off on the series doesn't define how talented they are. 💕

it’s things like this that make me happy that i’m watching the seasons years after they aired. when i watched season 7 i actually loved jasmine. she was so unique; honestly one of the most distinctive faces i’ve ever seen and i love it. i think she’s such an amazing character for drag race and has continued her legacy through her videos

I've watched Jasmine on UA-cam for years. She has persevered at it for years and just does her. That's why I like her.
The Nina thing is such a non-issue I'm surprised it was included, the issue that's obvious even in the clips you've shown is that while her impersonations might be from a place of appreciation, there's no depth or breadth to it, just repeating the same four or five meme lines and calling it a day. It's the same issue I have with Joan Crawford "impressions" when it's just quoting five lines from Mommie Dearest ad nauseum

Same. Recently been getting into watching drag UA-camrs now but I'm glad I avoided the fan reactions to things and enjoyed the show as-is more or less. I find a lot of the fan reactions are a little immature and fall way to hard for basic reality tv trickery and editing (especially when it involves a queen with melanin or an age over 30 lol)

I will admit I didn't like Jasmine at first because of how she was edited in season 7, but as I watched her stuff outside of Drag Race, I started to love her. She's so funny, and I always use "No tea, no shade, no pink lemonade" to this day
The thing with the Jasmine and Nina Bonina drama: if the person you’re imitating is telling you straight up they do not like it and you want to argue a reason as “they don’t understand” is because it’s love and admiration…you’re missing the point and you’re doing this for you, not to honor the person you’re imitating.
And not quite, there's a whole ass psychological context, there is people that simply don't like to be imitated, they don't see it as flatering regardless of how good it might be. And that is Jasmine. Ask the audience, they liked Nina's performance because they see Nina's expressing not who Jasmine is but how she is perceived.
Jasmine on the other hand has an inner understanding of herself and how she carries herself genuine and how that isn't worth of a character to make fun of, which is what happens at the snatch games.
